Re: About Manchester Derby ...
The top scorer in Manchester derbies is Wayne Rooney, who bagged his 11th in last season's 4-1 away defeat. Joe Hayes and Francis Lee both have 10 for City United & City have faced each other 167 times in all competitions, with the first meeting coming in 1891. Utd have 69 wins to City's 48, with 50 draws. All in all, 24 players have played for both clubs, including Carlos Tevez, Peter Schmeichel and Andy Cole. The latest to do so is Owen Hargreaves. 30/9/67 - City 1 United 2: Title races between Manchester clubs isn't new. United secured a crucial three points with Bobby Charlton's double to edge ahead 27/3/68 - United 1 City 3: A Colin Bell-inspired City claimed a crucial derby win. Re: About Manchester Derby ...
27/4/74 - United 0 City 1: Denis Law spent 9 years at Utd before joining City. His backheel winner didn't technically relegate them, but it felt like it. Predictably, the emotional scenes sparked a pitch invasion from United fans, with police having to step in. Law never played professional football again. 10/1/87 - United 1 City 0: Pictured is United winger Jesper Olsen during Alex Ferguson's first ever Manchester derby, a 1-0 FA Cup third round victory. 23/9/89 - City 5 United 1: The Blues secured the biggest derby win since United thrashed them 5-1 in 1960. United finished 13th this season, City 14th. 6/12/92 - United 2 City 1: The first-ever Premier League derby is crowned by Mark Hughes, who celebrates his late winner as United go on to win the title. |

Re: About Manchester Derby ...
20/3/93 - City 1 United: The Red Devils ended their 26-year wait for the top division title, and a late Cantona derby equaliser helped them along the way. 7/11/93 - City 2 United 3: Having been knocked out of the CL by Galatasaray days earlier, United trailed 2-0 before Roy Keane capped a memorable comeback. 10/11/94 - United 5 City 0: Alex Ferguson's Utd maintained a stranglehold on the derbies during the 90s. Here, Andrei Kanchelskis celebrates a hat-trick. 14/10/95 - United 1 City 0: Alex Ferguson and Brian Kidd oversee another victory. Fergie lost just 1 of his first 19 derbies, going 16 unbeaten from 1990. 6/4/96 - City 2 United 3: Eric Cantona slots home a penalty to keep up the title pace on leaders Newcastle. They would, of course, overhaul the Magpies. |

Re: About Manchester Derby ...
21/4/01: United 1 City 1: A less fond derby memory. Roy Keane stands over Alf-Inge Haaland after that infamous deliberate knee-high challenge. 9/11/02 - City 3 United 1: City claimed their first derby win in over a decade. Shaun Goater was the star, destroying United - Gary Neville in particular. Moreover, Goater's brace saw him score his 100th City goal in what was to be the final derby at Maine Road. 14/3/04 - City 4 United 1: A week after their bitter rivals KO'd them from the FA Cup 5th rnd, Fowler, Macken, Sinclair and SWP inspired a league thrashing 13/2/05 - City 0 United 2: Rooney and Ronaldo made their first mark (of many) on a Manchester derby in a comfortable victory for the visitors. |

Re: About Manchester Derby ...
5/5/07 - City 0 United 1: They were all grown up two years later, and within days of winning a PL title after Ronaldo's penalty pipped City in this tussle. The derby isn't all about rivalry. On Feb 10, 2008, the two sides came together in remembrance of the Munich Air Disaster 50 years prior. 10/2/08 - The 50th anniversary of the disaster brought the two together off the pitch, but on the pitch City were 2-1 victors, Benjani amongst the scorers. 20/9/09 - United 4 City 3: One of the most enthralling recent derbies was settled by substitute Michael Owen, minutes after Craig Bellamy had levelled. 27/1/10 - United 3 City 1: After a 2-1 defeat in the League Cup semi-final first-leg, Rooney sent United through on away goals with a last-minute header. |

Re: About Manchester Derby ...
17/4/10 - City 0 United 1: Gary Neville shares a passionate embrace with Paul Scholes after the Ginger Wizard scored another last-minute winner. 12/2/11 - United 2 City 1: Once voted the best goal in Premier League history, Rooney's incredible late overhead kick also inspired Utd to the title. 16/4/11 - City 1 United 0: As far as derby wins go, one at Wembley to reach your first FA Cup final in 30 years ain't bad at all. Yaya Toure was the hero. 07/8/11 - City 2 United 3: But revenge was exacted in the Community Shield. A two-goal deficit was overturned in the second half, mainly thanks to Nani. 23/10/11 - United 1 City 6: Equal-biggest margin of victory in a derby. United's heaviest Prem defeat. City go 5 pts clear in title race. Why always him? |

Re: About Manchester Derby ...
30/4/12 - City 1 United 0: 3 weeks earlier, Utd were 8 pts clear in the title race. Kompany put City top with 2 games left. We all know how that ended... 9/12/12 - City 2 United 3: But United got their own back once again the next season. A hotly-contested derby was settled by RvP's last-gasp free-kick. 25/3/14 - United 0 City 3: The latest chapter saw Dzeko score the quickest PL goal Utd have ever conceded at OT - 43secs. Utd will want revenge once more. Sambil nungguin lusa ..., boleh kok klo mau kasih ijo2 |

Manchester United reveal programme cover for derby clash with City after fan competition
* Programme cover was designed by Manchester United fan Harri Lyons * More than 20,000 fans voted in the poll in which the half red, half sky blue design came out on top * Manchester United play Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday Manchester United fans have voted for the design for the front of the programme for Sunday’s derby against Manchester City at Old Trafford. United ran a competition on their website asking fans to send in their designs for the United Review. More than 450 designs were sent in from all over the world before entries were shortlisted to a final two. That pair went to a 24-hour poll conducted on Twitter, where Harri Lyons' effort was voted the winner ahead of fellow United fan Nori Suminar. Cover of the United Review for the Manchester Derby designed by fan Harri Lyons The winning design shows Old Trafford with the city of Manchester behind it and the background split between red and sky blue. The left side of the design features a devil’s fork while there is a blue moon on the right. United say they received over 20,000 votes in the 24-hour period and Harri’s design won with 55 per cent of the vote. As well as seeing his design on the front of Sunday’s United Review, he will receive a high-quality version of his artwork, signed by manager Louis van Gaal. Manchester United won the corresponding fixture last season 4-2 thanks to goals from Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata and Chris Smalling. City go into the game two points ahead of their local rivals and a win for Van Gaal’s side would see them leapfrog Manuel Pellegrini’s men. Code:

Re: About Manchester Derby ...
HOMEGROWN DERBY GOALSCORERS
Marcus Rashford followed in some famous footsteps when scoring for Manchester United in the derby against City. Five other homegrown Reds have achieved the feat in the Barclays Premier League, starting with Mark Hughes towards the end of 1992 during the inaugural season of the new division. After Sparky repeated the trick a couple of years later, Ryan Giggs added to his derby winner in the old Division One by netting a belter at Maine Road. Paul Scholes has five league derby goals to his name - including his first in 1995 and the famous late headed winner in 2010 - while David Beckham converted a beautiful free-kick against the Blues in 2000. Darren Fletcher is the other Academy graduate to get on the scoresheet in the all-Manchester clash as he bagged two headers in the thrilling 4-3 win in 2009 and also curled home the consolation in the 6-1 defeat in 2011. |

Re: About Manchester Derby ...
'Manchester United no doubt still the biggest club in the world': Peter Schmeichel fans derby flames
* In terms of fans and popularity Peter Schmeichel says United led the way * The goalkeeper played for United and City over trophy-laden career * The Dane accepts the Reds have declined recently in footballing terms * In fact he says City have been 'up there' with the world's best of late Peter Schmeichel has stoked the flames ahead of this weekend's Manchester derby by insisting United are the 'no doubt' the biggest club in the world. The Old Trafford legend, who later played for Manchester City and saw his son Kasper come through the ranks at the Etihad, has declared the red half of Manchester still holds the edge in the city when it comes to international gravitas. This weekend's Manchester derby at Old Trafford sees both sides put their 100 per cent records on the line and despite Schmeichel's insistence over United's world status he accepts City have been ahead in footballing terms in recent seasons. Schmeichel also said that Manchester City have been ahead of United in football terms of late Schmeichel has been impressed with Jose Mourinho's bid to return United to the top of the tree. Without saying so explicitly there can be little doubt who he is backing this weekend. 'There's no doubt, nobody can argue that Manchester United is not the biggest club in the world. It is,' he told Omnisport. 'It's the club with the most fans, supporters and there are numbers out there which are official numbers so you can't argue that. 'But is it the best club in the world? It hasn't been for three years, it hasn't been even anywhere near the best club in England. Manchester City have been there or thereabouts. 'When you look at the last three years it has been very, very poor. Seventh, fourth and fifth – that's not Manchester United. But Manchester City has been there or thereabouts so you can argue that they are the bigger club in Manchester at the moment in terms of results. 'But in terms of popularity they've got no chance of being anywhere near the biggest in the world.' Code:
