UEFA 'plotting revamped Champions League with £6bn funding from London-based British investment firm as Aleksander Ceferin looks to hit back at European Super League'

* UEFA are plotting a £6bn response to the controversial European Super League
* On Sunday, the breakaway league was announced involving 12 clubs
* UEFA chief Alexander Ceferin hit out at the 'snakes' and 'liars' behind the plot
* According to Bloomberg, UEFA are considering an all-new Champions League
* £6bn competition would involve clubs who reject or back down from the ESL

UEFA are plotting a £6bn response to the controversial European Super League, with the governing body reportedly planning to create a new Champions League with financial backing from a London firm.

On Sunday night, shockwaves reverberated around the football world when the European Super League plans were announced - a breakaway tournament that would replace clubs' European commitments with UEFA, such as the Champions League.

England's Big Six - Manchester United, Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham - alongside Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan are founding members of the controversial Super League.

President Aleksander Ceferin was left aghast at the move led by Madrid chief Florentino Perez and American billionaires John W Henry, Joel Glazer and Stan Kroenke to drastically change the landscape of European football with their new proposal.

Ceferin branded those behind the plot 'liars' and 'snakes' and on Tuesday called on the 'greedy' and 'arrogant' Big Six chiefs to backtrack on the move.

And according to Bloomberg via RMC Sport, UEFA are looking to hit back with a revamped version of the Champions League with £6bn funding, providing a larger income to those clubs competing in the competition.

UEFA are plotting a new Champions League tournament with £6bn funding, reports suggest. UEFA chief Alexander Ceferin was left fuming with the secret plot to breakaway this week

UEFA are reportedly working with a London-based British investment fund to conjure up a new version of the prestigious tournament.

The initial budget of this tournament would be worth £3.9bn, rising to £6bn, and is being considered in collaboration with European teams who reject or are not involved in the Super League, as well as any of the 12 clubs that decide to turn their backs on the breakaway league.

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint Germain have elected not to sign up alongside the 12 European heavyweights, while Benfica and Sevilla have both flatly refused to join.

The report goes onto suggest that talks over the revamped Champions League have been under way for weeks, with the focus being on a stronger competition as well as improved income for participating clubs.

Ceferin made a plea to the English clubs to backdown from their stance and return to the fold, labelling the decision to join the Super League a 'mistake'.

'At this point I would like to address the owners of some English clubs,' Ceferin said during his powerful address on Tuesday.

'Gentlemen, you made a huge mistake. Some will say it is greed, others disdain, arrogance, flippancy, complete ignorance of England’s football culture. But actually it doesn’t matter.

'What matters is there is still time to change your mind, everyone makes mistakes. English fans deserve to have you correct your mistake, they deserve respect.'

Florentino Perez leads the project that threatens the existence of the Champions League. The new Champions League tournament would provide more income to those competing and would be open to clubs that reject the ESL or those who back down from the plan

All 12 clubs have come in for immense criticism for signing up to the Super League - which will see the founding members receiving up to £300million each when it starts.

Along with the Spanish and Italian clubs, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Tottenham are looking to create a near closed shop to replace UEFA's Champions League and Europa League.

The plan is to expand the competition to 15 founder members - with a further five annual qualifiers - but there will no relegation for the big founding clubs, even if they finished bottom which would take away the competitive instinct that makes football so special.

Currently, teams have to qualify each year for the Champions League through their domestic leagues, but the Super League would lock in 15 places every season for the founding members.

The Super League plans - which is being bankrolled to the tune of £4.3billion by the Wall Street giant JP Morgan - have made a mockery of football's fair play and competitive nature, leading to widespread backlash from the media, pundits, fans and Governments - with Prime Minister Boris Johnson condemning the proposals.

'All the Governments are with us, all the fans are with us, all the media, only some greedy people, a few, are on the other side,' Ceferin added during his damning speech.

'Are we allowing them to take football? No. You can trust me, we will not allow it.'

Sah! UEFA Hapus Aturan Gol Tandang
Randy Prasatya - Sepakbola

UEFA confirm Wembley WILL host 2024 Champions League final despite Euro 2020 troubles while European showpiece also returns to Istanbul in two years time – months after it was stripped of fixture due to pandemic

* UEFA announced the host venues for the next four Champions League finals
* Wembley will host the 2024 final despite the security breach at Euro 2020 final
* The Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul will also finally play host to the European final
* It was stripped of this summer's showpiece due to the coronavirus pandemic
* Meanwhile, St Petersburg will host next year's final and Munich the 2025 final

Wembley Stadium will host the Champions League final in 2024, UEFA has announced.

The decision to award Wembley the final in three years time comes days after the national stadium suffered a severe security breach during the Euro 2020 final, which saw over five thousand ticketless hooligans force their way into the concourses and take their spots among empty seats and corridors inside the ground.

The breach left the FA red-faced before being charged by UEFA over the chaotic scenes that marred Sunday's showpiece.

However, in spite of all this, Wembley will host the final in three years time – 11 years after it hosted the 2013 European final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Istanbul's Ataturk Stadium has been awarded the 2023 Champions League final by UEFA.

The Turkish venue had been due to stage the match in 2020 and 2021 but UEFA was forced to make changes in both years due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Wembley Stadium will host the Champions League final in 2024, UEFA has announced

Lisbon took over as host for a final-eight 'mini-tournament' last year and this May's all-English encounter between Chelsea and Manchester City was switched to Porto at short notice.

As a result of the latest change, Munich's Allianz Arena will now host the final in 2025 rather than 2023. Next year's encounter is due to be played in St Petersburg.

'Following the relocation of the 2021 UEFA Champions League final from Istanbul to Porto, it was decided to award the staging of the 2023 UEFA Champions League final to the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul,' read a statement from UEFA.

The European governing body has also announced that the Europa League final will be held in Dublin in 2024 and Bilbao in 2025.

Bilbao has also been awarded the 2024 Women's Champions League final. Both cities were due to host Euro 2020 matches prior to the pandemic.

The statement added: 'Following the withdrawal of hosting rights for UEFA Euro 2020 from two of the original hosts cities, the UEFA executive committee today approved a settlement agreement which includes the staging of future club competition finals, recognising the efforts and financial investment put (in) by the two cities in preparing for the tournament.'

Manchester United and West Ham have been fined by UEFA as a result of fan behaviour at recent European fixtures.

United have been fined 8,375 euros (£7,050) after fans threw objects and invaded the pitch in their come-from-behind 2-1 win over Villarreal on September 29, a match settled by Cristiano Ronaldo’s stoppage-time strike at Old Trafford.

West Ham must pay 60,000 euros (£50,500) for the trouble that came during their 2-0 win over Rapid Vienna on September 28.

Both clubs were charged after fans threw objects, with Rapid also fined 60,000 euros and banned from having fans travel to their next away European fixture.
