Default Predicting EPL 2018-19, 2019-2020 Champions, Top 4, Relegated

'From what we have seen in these opening six games the others look a little bit further up': Jamie Carragher believes Arsenal and Manchester United will not finish in the top four

* Jamie Carragher thinks Arsenal and Manchester United will miss out on top four
* The former Liverpool defender was speaking after the Gunners win over Everton
* Jose Mourinho's United dropped points on Saturday at home against Wolves

Arsenal and Manchester United will be the two sides that miss out on the top four this season, believes Jamie Carragher.

The Sky Sports pundit was speaking after the Gunners' 2-0 win over Everton and says early season performances have shown Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham are better equipped to secure a place in the top four.

'On the evidence of what we've seen I'd say Arsenal or Manchester United from what we've seen in these opening six games. The others look a little bit further up,' the former Liverpool defender said.

Manchester United will miss out on the Premier League top four, says Jamie Carragher

The pundit also feels Unai Emery's Arsenal will fall short compared to better equipped rivals. Carragher has altered his prediction on who will make the top four after just six matches

'Tottenham have had a little bit of a wobble, a good result for them yesterday but it will be really tight and it always is with the top six.'

For the established top six sides it proved a mix bag of results across the weekend with Liverpool the only side maintaining a 100 per cent start to the new campaign.

A 3-0 canter at home to Southampton ensured they remain top of the pile and appearing the most likely to challenge reigning champions Manchester City, who themselves laid down a marker by beating Cardiff City 5-0 away from home.

It was to be two dropped points for Chelsea on their travels as they drew a blank against West Ham, while Jose Mourinho's Manchester United side saw a 1-0 lead slip and they had to settle for a point - leaving them seventh, with 10 points from six matches.

'I think the top six are so far ahead now that if just one or two of those teams on any given weekend drop points it feels like a really big thing for the rest of the other teams, because a lot of the other dropped points come from each other,' Carragher continued.

'So far Liverpool winning, City winning, for Tottenham and Arsenal, for Chelsea and United to drop points against two of the lesser sides it's a really big thing.

'City showed last year - and whoever is going to win the title this year - that the points total now to win the title - it was 80 or so when I was playing - but it's 90 plus now.'

Watford are the current anomaly keeping United outside of the top six even at this early stage but with Mourinho's men, Arsenal and Tottenham already slipping to two defeats from six, there is a sense that they will be the teams battling to make the top four.

Carragher's comments make interesting reading as he appears, after just six games, to want to alter his predictions before the Premier League campaign began.

Sitting alongside Gary Neville on their Monday Night Football show, Carragher originally predicted Manchester City to win the league with Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham completing his top four.

United udah peringkat 4 aja udah bagus banget

Default Re: Predicting EPL 2018-19 Champions, Top 4, Relegated

The race for the Champions League: Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are battling it out for just two spots... but who will make it into Europe's elite next season?

* Spurs, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea could all finish in the top four
* Tottenham's defeat at Chelsea ended their chances of lifting the Premier League
* All four teams are separated by seven points as we enter the final few months
* Sportsmail assesses their chances of clinching Champions League football

Tottenham's crushing defeat at Chelsea on Wednesday night has ensured there are now just two teams left in the running for the Premier League title.

Liverpool and Manchester City have pulled clear of the chasing pack but, as we enter the final stage of the season, the battle to secure Champions League football is just as tense.

Spurs, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are separated by just seven points as they look to join Europe's elite next season. Here, Sportsmail assesses their chances of clinching those remaining two places in the top four.

Spurs, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea could all finish in the top four this season

Tottenham

Form: Most fans would have thought Harry Kane's return to action from injury would have coincided with a dazzling run to the title for Spurs. It has not panned out at all like that though with Mauricio Pochettino's side losing at Burnley and Chelsea to leave their title chances in tatters.

Spurs had won four league games in a row without their leading marksman and they will be hopeful they can halt the slide sooner rather than later.

Squad depth: This is potentially the area that could cost Spurs the most. Without Kane, Son Heung-min stepped up and scored in three games in a row but there was always a sense that he surely couldn't maintain that level of form.

They have a largely fit squad at present but star man Dele Alli has an unknown return date and that is cause for concern.

Distractions: Spurs were knocked out of the FA Cup by Crystal Palace in round four and that leaves them fighting on two fronts. They have an impressive three-goal lead over Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League last-16 tie and look set to move through to the quarter-finals with the return leg on March 5.

Remaining fixtures: A game Spurs wouldn't fancy after two straight defeats is Arsenal but a north London derby is what awaits them on Saturday lunchtime. They also face daunting away trips to both Liverpool and Manchester City and host Everton on the final day of the season.

April 13 - Huddersfield (H)

April 20 - Manchester City (A)

April 27 - West Ham (H)

May 4 - Bournemouth (A)

May 12 - Everton (H)

TBC - Crystal Palace (H)
Arsenal

Form: Since losing at West Ham at the start of the year, Arsenal's form has been rather impressive. In their last five games they have recorded four wins and one defeat - a 3-1 loss at Manchester City.

Unai Emery's side climbed into fourth place with a 5-1 thrashing of Bournemouth on Wednesday and that comes after routine wins over Southampton and Huddersfield.

Squad depth: The Gunners are pretty much injury free aside from Hector Bellerin and Danny Welbeck, who will both miss the rest of the season. They have two world-class strikers in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette and a good supply chain in Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil.

January signing Denis Suarez is yet to show his true colours while Aaron Ramsey didn't even get off the bench on Wednesday with Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi impressing in midfield.

Distractions: Arsenal and Chelsea have a lifeline for Champions League football in the form of the Europa League and both are serious contenders. The Gunners have a favourable draw in the last-16 against French side Rennes and Emery has pedigree in the competition having won it three times at Sevilla.

Remaining fixtures: If Arsenal can get through their next two games unscathed then there is definitely cause for optimism. They face Spurs on Saturday before hosting United on March 10. Every game is winnable after that though with trips to Wolves and Everton the most challenging games left.

April 29 - Leicester (A)

May 4 - Brighton (H)

May 12 - Burnley (A)

TBC - Wolves (A)
Manchester United

Form: United's win over Crystal Palace ensured the Red Devils claimed a club record eighth consecutive win away from home and extended their unbeaten league run under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to 11 games.

They are the league's form team, having dropped points against just Burnley and Liverpool in the league since the Norwegian's arrival in December.

Squad depth: United were missing eight first-team players at Selhurst Park but still managed to win, showing the strength in their squad.

Jesse Lingard, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Nemanja Matic, Phil Jones, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian all missed the trip to Palace and most remain doubts for Saturday's game at home to Southampton.

Wednesday's win extended their unbeaten league run under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to 11 games. United were missing eight first-team players at Selhurst Park but still managed to win easily

Distractions: United appear to be on their way out of the Champions League after Paris Saint-Germain scored two unanswered away goals in the first leg of their last-16 tie. They are in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup though and most would fancy them to win at Wolves and reach a Wembley semi-final.

Remaining fixtures: United probably have the toughest run of fixtures between the top-four rivals. They've still got three 'top-six' teams left to play and travel to both Wolves and Everton.

Chelsea

Form: Inconsistent form has left Maurizio Sarri on the brink of the sack but a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Spurs on Wednesday looks to have bought the Italian some time. The Blues were thrashed 6-0 by City and 4-0 by Bournemouth earlier this year and also lost at Arsenal.

Squad depth: Sarri has a lot of talent at his disposal but it seems the former Napoli boss has opted to select from a core group of around 14 players. The front three looks to be formed around four players while Jorginho and N'Golo Kante are guaranteed midfield starters with Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley rotating for the other place.

Distractions: Similarly to Arsenal, Chelsea have a real opportunity to get into the Champions League via this season's Europa League. After cruising past Malmo in the last 32, they have been drawn to play Dynamo Kiev next and will be favourites to progress.

Remaining fixtures: Chelsea have to go to both Liverpool and Manchester United, two games that could have a major influence in the races for the title and Champions League football. They do have a game in hand on their rivals but Eden Hazard and Co will fancy themselves to take maximum points from games against weaker opposition.

Default Re: Predicting EPL 2018-19 Champions, Top 4, Relegated

Why Arsene Wenger's fourth-place 'trophy' is no longer a joke... and find out who Sportsmail's Chris Sutton and Martin Keown think will make Champions League places

* Arsene Wenger once claimed 'the first trophy is to finish in the top four'
* There was much sniggering and ridicule but there are always converts
* Champions League places look set to come down to an eight-game sprint

When Arsene Wenger claimed 'the first trophy is to finish in the top four' there was much sniggering and ridicule - but at this time of year there are always converts to his way of thinking.

You might even find some at Chelsea this year, on the rebound from a six-goal humiliation at Manchester City last month and desperately trying to avoid a third season out of four outside the Champions League.

'The game when we lost 6-0, I think we had a click and said we need to do it together, there are three or four months to play and we want to finish in the top four,' said Eden Hazard.

Arsene Wenger once claimed 'the first trophy is to finish in the top four' when at Arsenal

Many laughed at Wenger at the time, but now the race for the top four is very competitive. Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham are in a four-way fight for two places

The Belgian salvaged a point for Chelsea with a late equaliser against Wolves on Sunday and, although it felt like a missed opportunity, it served to tighten the race for the two Champions League places behind title challengers Manchester City and Liverpool.

Chelsea are the only one of the four in Premier League action next weekend, and a victory at Everton will see them draw level with Arsenal. Then it will come down to an eight-game sprint.

Tottenham will start with a points advantage and the benefit of having five of their last eight games at home, even though they must travel to both Liverpool and City.

The great imponderable for Mauricio Pochettino is how his players will react to the switch to their new stadium next month.

Home form in the final season at White Hart Lane was phenomenal but the new place will bear little resemblance and they encountered early problems at Wembley.

Spurs have hit terrible form with only one point out of the last 12. Manchester United have taken seven from their last four games, which is identical to Chelsea.

Arsenal, on the outside of the Champions League for two years, eased up into fourth with 10 points from 12 when they beat United on Sunday, and have a friendly run-in.

Five of their last eight fixtures are away from home, however, and Unai Emery's team have been inconsistent on the road.

Points will be dropped in unexpected places while Chelsea and United will look towards their clash in April as a significant date.

Only United survive in the FA Cup and, though Arsenal are 3-1 down after the first leg of their Europa League tie with Rennes, all four remain in European competition, which offers an alternative ticket into the Champions League.

Twists are guaranteed but the value of being among the elite is greater than ever. Real Madrid banked around £80million for winning the Champions League last season, nearly four times what Atletico Madrid earned for lifting the Europa League.

All this, without accounting for the natural impact on summer recruitment, keeping players and managers and on the global status and marketability. Wenger's observations from 2012 have never rung more true.

gpp deh United finish di peringkat 4 yg penting lolos ke UCL musim depan. yg dari era Mou terlempar dari Big 4, dibawah Ole kembali bersaing merebut peringkat 3-4. cuma kok pada prediksi Liverpool yg juara yah?

Huddersfield, Tim Pertama yang Terdegradasi dari Liga Inggris Musim Ini

Putra Rusdi Kurniawan - detikSport

Liverpool are going to win the Premier League according to Sir Alex Ferguson, claims Jonathan Walters

* Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson backs Liverpool to win the title
* Ferguson believes United will take points off Manchester City on April 24
* Liverpool lead City by two points in the table but have played a game more

Liverpool have been backed to be crowned Premier League champions this season by the man who knocked them off their perch.

Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes the Reds will reign supreme over Manchester City once the season is over come May.

Ferguson's belief is because he backs United to take points off City when the two teams meet at Old Trafford on April 24.

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Liverpool to win the title, according to Jonathan Walters

All of this is according to Jonathan Walters who made the claim after speaking with his old team-mate and former United defender Phil Bardsley who spent time with Ferguson during the week.

'I was chatting with Phil Bardsley and I'm gonna drop a name here, he was sat with Sir Alex Ferguson,' Walters told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast.

'He sat with him and he thinks Liverpool are going win it.

'He thinks Liverpool because he thinks United will get something out of the City game.'

As things stand in the table, Liverpool are on 85 points having played 34 games. They are two points clear of City who have a game in hand.

City's next Premier League match is at home to Tottenham in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, while Liverpool travel to Cardiff on Sunday afternoon.

Novitasari Dewi Salusi - detikSport

Tiga menit kemudian, Cardiff menyamakan skor berkat gol bunuh diri Martin Kelly.

Default Re: Predicting EPL 2018-19, 2019-2020 Champions, Top 4, Relegated

The relegation six-pointers: Premier League's bottom five have picked up just THREE points from 13 matches since the restart... now it all comes down to these key clashes to beat the dreaded drop

* Eight points separated the bottom six before the top flight resumed on June 17
* Brighton, in 15th, have put a bit of daylight between them and the chasing pack
* Just seven points separate Premier League's bottom five heading to final month
* Sportsmail looks at the pivotal six-pointers between relegation-threatened sides

Liverpool may have run away with the Premier League title but the contrast at the bottom of the table couldn't be more stark.

Eight points separated the bottom six before the top flight resumed on June 17 and almost two weeks in only 15th-placed Brighton have managed to put a bit of daylight between them and the chasing pack.

Following an unbeaten return to action Graham Potter's side have opened up a 12-point gap between themselves and basement boys Norwich, moving five points clear of 16th-placed Watford in the process.

The state of play at the bottom of the Premier League with seven points separating bottom five

The bottom five of Watford, West Ham, Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich have picked up just three points from 13 matches between them since the restart.

Just seven points separate those sides and Brighton are far from being clear of danger with just under a month to maintain their Premier League status.

Has the enforced break affected the relegation-threatened sides more? Or perhaps the loss of home crowds in stadiums has had a greater impact on those clubs.

The introduction of the use of five substitutes may have also favoured the so-called bigger teams, who have greater strength in depth, but ultimately the sides in the precarious position need to start to picking up points, and fast.

Relegation from the Premier League was one of the most fiercely-debated topics surrounding Project Restart and the battle to avoid slipping out of the top tier is set to go down to the wire.

Here, Sportsmail takes a look at the pivotal six-pointers between the relegation-threatened sides as they look to beat the dreaded drop to the Championship.

July 4: Norwich vs Brighton

Daniel Farke's side are six points adrift from safety but have three games against the teams around them in July. They face Brighton, Watford and West Ham in their next three games following a trip to Arsenal on Wednesday night.

The Canaries can take confidence from their spirited extra-time defeat by Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter-finals last weekend but league goals have been in short supply. They have not found the target in their last three Premier League encounters.

Brighton secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Norwich in the reverse fixture earlier in the season and have rediscovered their form following the enforced break. The Seagulls sealed four points from their first two matches in June after holding third-placed Leicester to a 0-0 draw and beating Arsenal at home. They followed this up though with a 3-0 defeat by Manchester United on Tuesday night.

Norwich desperately need to kick off their season-defining run with three points. Teemu Pukki needs to get back firing - he had a blistering start to the season but has failed to score in his last seven league matches.

July 7: Watford vs Norwich

Watford had looked doomed during the early stages of the season but Nigel Pearson guided a mid-winter recovery following his appointment as boss in December. However after a disappointing return to action in June they sit just one point above the relegation zone.

The Hornets began by picking up a promising point against Leicester but have since suffered defeats at Burnley and then at home to Southampton. Watford need to tap into the energy and spirit that led to their sensational win over champions Liverpool at Vicarage Road before the coronavirus pandemic.

Watford's first victory in 16 league matches in November came in the reverse fixture at Carrow Road but the Canaries could head into the contest buoyed by a positive result against Brighton. Captain Troy Deeney is a key figure in the Watford dressing room and he will need to lead from the front in this crucial clash.

July 11: Norwich vs West Ham

Like Norwich, West Ham play three relegation-threatened teams in their run-in and they will view the game at Carrow Road as where they can pick up a vital win.

David Moyes' side have suffered two defeats in their first two games back, intensifying the pressure on the side. They sit just outside the relegation zone on goal difference but they have demonstrated that they can put points on the board when required with victories over Southampton and Brighton before the enforced break.

The Hammers have a squad that is capable of steering clear of danger with the likes of Declan Rice and Mark Noble at the heart of the midfield. Norwich were beaten 2-0 by West Ham in the reverse fixture back in August and will need to shore up their defence if they want to stop the Hammers.

July 15: West Ham vs Watford

Four days after an important clash against fellow strugglers Norwich and West Ham welcome 16th-placed Watford. The Hammers secured a 3-1 win over their rivals in the reverse fixture at the beginning of the season with Sebastien Haller netting a brace.

Since then the striker has only notched five more goals and West Ham could do with him bagging some goals once he returns from injury. Michail Antonio has been deployed as a makeshift striker but Haller's reintroduction would allow him to test the Watford defence from out wide.

Pearson's side travel to the London Stadium before tough tests against Manchester City and Arsenal and so will be desperate to take something away from the capital.

July 26: West Ham vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa were put in deep trouble in the relegation battle following a 1-0 defeat by Wolves last weekend. Even though they are level on points with Bournemouth and West Ham they have played a game more.

However 19th-placed Villa have picked up the most points other than Brighton since the Premier League restart. But Dean Smith's side have conceded the most goals in the top flight and that will need to be improved for them to beat the drop and take anything against the Hammers.

West Ham boss Moyes admitted their final day showdown with Villa could be the match which decides their fate but they will want to be outside of the bottom three at kick-off.

Both West Ham and Villa face tough fixtures between now and the final day with clashes against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for the former and Liverpool and United for the latter. The heat will truly be on come the end of July. The sides played out a goalless stalemate in September at Villa Park.
