Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic 'reaches verbal agreement with Manchester United as his agent flies into London for talks'

* Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
* Club sealed verbal agreement for the midfielder with his agent due in for talks
* Any move is likely to be dependent on whether Paul Pogba moves to Real Madrid

Manchester United have reportedly sealed a verbal agreement with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic over a big-money move from Lazio.

The midfielder's agent is due to fly into London to hold further talks with the Old Trafford side.

However, any move is likely to depend on whether want-away star Paul Pogba completes a move to Real Madrid.

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has agreed verbal terms with Manchester United

While the Spanish giants are keen on completing the transfer, Manchester United want around £150million to let him go.

Ex-Chelsea striker Mateja Kezman represents Milinkovic-Savic, and will be conducting talks over the proposed five-year deal.

Lazio boss Simone Inzaghi insisted he wanted Milinkovic-Savic to stay, but admitted he could not force him to remain in Italy.

'My thoughts are that I’d like Milinkovic-Savic to stay,' the 43-year-old said.

'But I also believe the club has to consider offers when they come in and then make a decision.

'Milinkovic is 24 years old now, he’s no longer a kid. I can give him advice, he is at our disposal and hasn’t missed a training session, but then I don’t know what will happen. I hope he stays.'

The 24-year-old has been a mainstay in the side since moving to Serie A from Genk in 2015.

'Every situation will be evaluated': Lazio willing to listen to offers for £50m-rated Tottenham, Man United and Chelsea target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to sporting director... but will NOT drop his price

* Tottenham, Man United and Chelsea are interested in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
* Italian club Lazio reportedly value the Serbian midfielder at around £50million
* Sporting director Igli Tare says the player will be allowed to assess his options

Lazio's sporting director has revealed the club will be willing to listen to offers for midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic when the transfer market opens.

The 25-year-old has registered five goals and seven assists in 30 appearances this season, with Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea keeping tabs on the midfielder.

The Serbia international is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2024, with Lazio valuing their player at £50million.

Regardless of the negative financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, it was believed Lazio would not part with one of their most valuable assets.

However, sporting director Tare says there is the possibility of a deal being struck that suits both the player and the club.

'We certainly don't need to sell right now,' Tare told Sky Sport Italia.

'I think a lot will change on the transfer market, because the pandemic is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence that transformed everything, so we have to be creative, but above all very clear on our planning for the present and future.

'I think that prices won't drop for first-rate players. Obviously for the medium and low-end players, there will be a downward trend.

'On Milinkovic-Savic, the boy's relationship with the city and Lazio will never die because there is a very strong bond that has grown over years.

Lazio's sporting director says the club will listen to offers for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Tottenham , Manchester United and Chelsea keeping tabs on the Serbian midfielder

'On the other hand, considering the situation, his wishes, everything we've talked about, every situation will be evaluated at the right time without any pressure, but above all for the good of both parties.

'If there is a possibility that satisfies the club and the player, it will be taken into consideration. If there is not, he is happy and we are very happy for him to stay.'

Milinkovic-Savic was one of the stars of Serbia's U20 World Cup win in 2015, after which he made his move to Lazio from Genk in Belgium and quickly impressed in Serie A as a complete midfielder, with strength, stamina, good technique and an eye for goal.

Manchester United 'could reignite their interest in Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic' but may face competition from Real Madrid and PSG for the Serbian midfielder

* Manchester United have been linked with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the past
* Reports in Italy suggest interest in the Lazio midfielder could be reignited
* The 26-year-old is keen to continue playing Champions League next season
* But Lazio are facing an uphill struggle to finish in the Serie A top four
* If they don't qualify, United, Real Madrid or PSG could be interested in Serb

Manchester United 'have reignited their interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic' but could face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old Serb, who has been linked with an Old Trafford move in the past, could be set for a move away from the Italian capital.

And Gazzetta dello Sport have named United are one of three potential suitors for him.

Strengthening the midfield area is a priority for United as the summer transfer window approaches.

Although Milinkovic-Savic is contracted to Lazio until 2024, he is eager to continue playing Champions League football.

Lazio, who were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the last-16 of this year's competition, find themselves with six points to make up to finish in the Serie A top four.

Gazzetta say that reaching the Champions League again would provide a very convincing reason for Milinkovic-Savic to stay at Lazio.

Manchester United 'could be a potential suitor for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic' if the Serbian midfielder decides to leave Lazio. Milinkovic-Savic has also been linked with European giants Real Madrid and PSG. Midfield is one area Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could look to strengthen in the summer window

But they suggest Real, PSG and United could swoop if they fail to qualify.

Lazio have resisted all overtures for the midfielder in recent seasons and Milinkovic-Savic has now played 240 times in his six seasons at the Stadio Olimpico, scoring 46 goals.

With the exception of the 2019 Coppa Italia, silverware has been thin on the ground, however.

His most recent goal was the winner as Lazio beat Verona 1-0 in Serie A on Sunday. That was his seventh of the season to add to 10 assists.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does already have Paul Pogba, Fred, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek in the midfield area.

Default Re: Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

Manchester United FINALLY find an alternative to Frenkie de Jong with 'Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at the top of Erik ten Hag's list of other midfield targets' as the Barcelona star digs in over a move to Old Trafford

* Manchester United are keen to acquire Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
* The Serbian is thought to be an acceptable alternative to Frenkie de Jong
* United's ambition to get Barcelona's Dutchman de Jong appears to have faltered

Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is at the top of Erik ten Hag's midfield targets for Manchester United, if the prolonged plan for Frenkie de Jong does not come to pass.

While Barcelona's de Jong has been determined to make a move happen, it is not clear if he intends to join up with his fellow Dutchman at Old Trafford.

So ten Hag has set up a list of possible alternatives, including Serbian Milinkovic-Savic, according to Calcio Mercato.

However, the 27-year-old will not come cheap, with Lazio requesting at least €70million (£59.5m) for their box-to-box midfielder, who has scored 48 goals for Lazio in seven years with the Italian club.

Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is thought to be on Manchester United's list of midfield targets. The Serbian made 11 goals and 11 assists last season for Lazio, earning United's interest

Arsenal were thought to be interested in Milinkovic-Savic at one point this summer, but balked at the asking price.

If United are keen to stump up that much money, it is believed Lazio would not resist the transfer, although they might have preferred a sale earlier in the transfer window.

Milinkovic-Savic has never expressed an opinion to leave Rome, but with two years remaining on his contract, the opportunity might have come at the right time.

Last season, Milinkovic-Savic scored 11 goals for Lazio, and made 11 assists for his Roman team-mates.

MailOnline previously reported that Barcelona's proposal to sell de Jong to Manchester United for £71.5m appears to have faltered because the Dutchman has reportedly said he does not like the way the Red Devils are run.

There were also claims that 25-year-old de Jong and his fiancee Mikky Kiemeney do not like the city of Manchester, which would kill off any hope of a switch to Old Trafford.

The Catalan club are hoping to sell de Jong to free up their wage bill so they can register their new signings, including Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen, with La Liga under the league's financial fairplay rules.

The Dutchman is considering alternative offers from Bayern Munich and Chelsea if he is to leave the Spotify Nou Camp this summer, because of the allure of Champions League football.

While ten Hag's plans were thought to be centred around de Jong, it appears that Milinkovic-Savic would be an ideal alternative, ahead of the Premier League's start in two weeks.

Manchester United 'are preparing a £42m offer for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic' as Erik ten Hag looks for a plan B to Frenkie de Jong... but Lazio will dig their heels in over Serbian star they value at £59m

* Manchester United are seeking midfield alternatives to Frenkie de Jong
* Dutch international has made clear his reluctance to come to Old Trafford
* Erik ten Hag will reportedly turn his attention to Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
* There are suggestions United will make an initial offer to Lazio of about £42m
* But the Italian club will likely hold out for a fee closer to the £60m mark

Manchester United 'will test Lazio's resolve with an offer of £42million for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic' as Erik ten Hag looks for alternatives to Frenkie de Jong.

With hopes of signing the Barcelona midfielder fading quickly, United are expected to move to their No 2 target of the 27-year-old Serbia international.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito, however, is expected to hold out for a price closer to £59m for Milinkovic-Savic.

Italian newspaper Messagero report that the player's agent is expected to present Lazio with an offer they can't refuse from United by the beginning of August.

Man United are reportedly preparing an initial offer of £42m for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. United manager Erik ten Hag is turning his focus to alternatives after Frenkie de Jong's snub. Barcelona midfielder De Jong has been United's first choice but he doesn't want to move. The Serbian made 11 goals and 11 assists last season for Lazio, earning United's interest. Serbia international Milinkovic-Savic has licence at Lazio to push forward and score goals

Lotito will likely attempt to drive the price up to somewhere closer to his asking price in an attempt to stave off supporter discontent at the sale of a key asset.

Lazio fans have also been irked by Roma's resurgence under Jose Mourinho and their recent signing of striker Paulo Dybala from Juventus.

They will target Napoli's Piotr Zieliński as a replacement for Milinkovic-Savic should he leave given his previous experience of working with their manager Maurizio Sarri.

Milinkovic-Savic has been a Lazio player since 2015, scoring 58 goals in 294 appearances for the club from his box-to-box midfield role.

He has long expressed a desire to play in a league outside of Serie A and United are in need of a midfield replacement for Paul Pogba, who has returned to Juventus.

Ten Hag will consider Milinkovic-Savic to tick many of the required boxes as his first choice De Jong did.

However, United are in urgent need of a defensive midfielder to shield their brittle defence as opposed to a player like the Lazio man who is afforded licence to push forward and create.

They already have Bruno Fernandes for a creative role and have also added Christian Eriksen this summer.

Ten Hag has also signed Tyrell Malacia, the left-back, and Lisandro Martinez, a centre-back, as he tries to restore United to silverware contenders.

Man United suffer yet ANOTHER transfer blow as 'it looks more likely midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will stay at Lazio' - with the Red Devils exploring alternative options to Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong

* Manchester United have hit stumbling block in pursuit of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
* The Red Devils identified the Lazio midfielder as alternative to Frenkie de Jong
* It has been reported it is 'increasingly likely' the 27-year-old will remain at Lazio
* Man United also set to miss out on De Jong with Chelsea the new front-runners

Manchester United have received another blow in the transfer window as their pursuit of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has reportedly hit a stumbling block.

The Red Devils have identified the Lazio midfielder as a potential alternative to long-standing target Frenkie de Jong, who wants to stay with Barcelona.

However, reports have emerged that Milinkovic-Savic is now edging closer to a stay at Lazio amid summer interest from United.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that it looks more likely that the Serbia international will remain at the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

The Italian newspaper have claimed that there is no offer on the horizon from the Red Devils despite the fact that they are keen on the 27-year-old.

Milinkovic-Savic has netted 58 goals in 204 appearances for Lazio and he enjoyed a superb season for Maurizio Sarri's side last season which caught the eye of suitors outside of Italy.

The Serbia international boasted 22 goal contributions in 37 Serie A outings last term and Sarri has stated that he will do 'anything' to keep his star midfielder in Rome.

Lazio missed out on Champions League football by a single point last campaign and Sarri is determined to remain above bitter city-rivals Jose Mourinho's Roma - with Milinkovic-Savic instrumental to Lazio's ascendance up the table.

The midfielder has two years remaining on his deal at the Olimpico, which may force Lazio's hand this summer in order to receive a substantial figure from the Red Devils.

United's first choice midfield target has been De Jong throughout the summer, but rivals Chelsea are reportedly close to landing the midfielder from under their noses.

Erik ten Hag's side's need for a defensive midfielder was laid bare in their Premier League opening weekend defeat to Brighton on Sunday, yet there are question marks over Milinkovic-Savic's ability to play in a deeper role.

And the fresh claims surrounding the Serbia international's future at Lazio could hinder Manchester United's pursuit for the midfielder and again have them back at the drawing board.

Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri slams 'biased' Italian press for leading with transfer stories that link Sergej Milinkovic-Savic with Juventus, while Man United and Liverpool have also pursued the Serbian midfielder

* Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has nine goal contributions in nine games this season
* He has been among the top midfielders in the league since joining Lazio in 2015
* The 27-year-old has been linked with Juventus, Liverpool and Manchester United
* Maurizio Sarri said the Italian press were 'biased' when it came to the midfielder

Mauruzio Sarri has taken a dig at the Italian press for their coverage of transfer rumours linking Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic with a move to Juventus.

The Serbian midfielder has become a stalwart in the club since signing in 2015, racking up 306 appearances and 62 goals.

He is performing particularly well this season, and has picked up nine goal contributions in the opening nine rounds of Serie A.

Lazio boss Sarri seemed particularly annoyed about La Gazzetta Dello Sport’s front page story on Milinkovic-Savic.

Speaking ahead of Lazio's Europa League game against Strum Graz, the manager said: 'I think there is too much noise around him.'

'The day after our 4-0 win [against Fiorentina], a paper put his name on their frontpage talking about transfers.

'[Italian Cyclist] Filippo Ganna has established a new incredible record, but in order to know something more about it, I had to search on specialised websites. This makes you understand how much the vision of the Italian Press is biased.

Maurizio Sarri has hit out at 'biased' reporting on Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The 27-year-old midfielder has nine goal contributions in as many games this season. He has been linked with moves to Manchester United, Liverpool and Juventus

'Milinkovic has room for improvement and you can see that from how many balls he loses.'

Despite Sarri's annoyance, the Serbian midfielder is clearly a key player at Lazio.

According to Fabrizio, the manager would not let him go for less than £105 million, but Manchester United and Liverpool are both believed to still be interested.

'Every month the price goes up': Lazio president Claudio Lotito slaps a whopping £105m price tag on Sergej Milinkovic-Savic... as the Rome-based club looks to fend off bids from Man United and Juventus in January

* Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is worth at least £105m according to Lazio's president
* Claudio Lotito insisted the valuation would rise every month ahead of January
* Manchester United and Juventus have each expressed interest in the midfielder
* The Serbian has scored four and assisted seven after a fruitful start to the season

Lazio chief Claudio Lotito wants Manchester United to pay no less than £105million for star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who was linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

The club president insisted that the Serbian's price tag would rise every month, in a bid to bat away offers from the Red Devils and Juventus in January.

United actively pursued the Serbian this summer after failing to land priority transfer target Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, although Erik ten Hag's side were able to lure Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro in August.

Lotito told Il Messaggero: 'I have no agreement with his agent [Mateja] Kezman to sell him to Juventus or anyone else in the winter.

'On the contrary, he is now worth €120m [£105m], not €100m [£88m]. Every month the price goes up.'

The 27-year-old has enjoyed a fruitful start to the season at Lazio, netting four goals and contributing seven assists in 12 matches across all competitions.

Lazio's president has placed a £105million price tag on star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Claudio Lotito admitted his valuation would rise every month amid Manchester United links. The Serbian has also attracted Juventus interest, scoring four and assisting seven this season

His productive form has helped the Rome-based outfit climb to third place in Serie A, five spots ahead of summer suitors Juventus.

Meanwhile, Man United sit fifth in the Premier League, having somewhat recovered from their miserable start to Ten Hag's debut campaign.

The Red Devils take on Omonia Nicosia at Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday.
