Wayne Rooney reveals he angrily SMASHED Ravel Morrison's Blackberry just for using his phone charger at Manchester United... and how he and Gary Neville tried to help the 'top-level' talent not waste his potential

* Wayne Rooney was team-mates with Ravel Morrison while at Manchester United
* Rooney told of when youngster took his phone off charge in the dressing room
* Despite the seemingly minor act, he furiously smashed Morrison's phone
* The now interim Derby boss also said how Gary Neville tries to help Morrison
* Morrison is now at Dutch club ADO Den Haag after a number of failed spells

Wayne Rooney has astonishingly revealed how he 'smashed up' Ravel Morrison's phone when the pair were both at Manchester United.

Rooney, who was at United for 13 years from 2004-2017, detailed that he was furious that another player had disconnected his phone from its charger in the dressing-room and had replaced it with his own device.

United's record goalscorer thought originally it was one of the first team but upon realising it was a reserve player - which academy youngster Morrison was at the time - lost his temper and smashed the Blackberry phone up.

Wayne Rooney has revealed how he smashed up Ravel Morrison's phone while at Man United. Morrison had taken Rooney's phone off charge and had replaced it with his own Blackberry

'I remember I smashed his [Morrison's] phone up at one point,' Rooney told the Utd Podcast.

'He came in the first-team dressing room when he was in the reserves. My phone was on charge and he took it off and put his on.

'It was when we had the old BlackBerries and it had the email address on the front. I thought it was one of the other lads so when I saw it was one of the reserve players I just smashed the phone up!'

Rooney, now the interim manager at Derby County, also spoke of his disappointment that Morrison did not fulfil his enormous potential.

Morrison, now 27, is at Dutch club ADO Den Haag after recent spells at Sheffield United, Ostersund and Lazio which did not work out.

Last week, he also made his senior international debut for Jamaica in a 3-0 defeat against Saudi Arabia.

'With the younger players it's been well documented about Ravel Morrison,' Rooney explains.

'He was brilliant in training and then he had a few issues and it halted his career.

'We all thought he was going to be top-level. Everyone could see those issues were going to be there. I spoke to him. Gary Neville was trying to get him to live with him. There were different things people tried.'

Rooney, currently the interim boss at Derby, thought Morrison was going to be 'top-level'. Rooney also explained that Gary Neville tries to get Morrison to live with him to curb his issues. But Morrison never fulfilled his potential and his career has taken him to clubs across the globe

Rooney also opened up on how close he came to moving to Spain when his time at United looked all but over in 2010.

Rooney rocked United by handing in a transfer request and was ready to leave Old Trafford, alerting Premier League rivals and Europe's elite.

And Rooney admitted that, for a couple of days at least, he was looking at Pep Guardiola's Barcelona set-up and imagining how he would fit in the side.

He recently signed for ADO Den Haag in Holland, where former Spurs boss Martin Jol works

Mantan Wonderkid MU Ravel Morrison Putus Kontrak di ADO Den Haag
Kris Fathoni W - detikSport

'You take two pairs of boots, you get £500 and buy your family a Chinese': Ravel Morrison admits to stealing and selling Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney's boots while at Man United just to put food on his family's table

* The 28-year-old was once regarded as one of United's most exciting prospects
* However, his career didn't turn out that way after a number of disciplinary issues
* Speaking to Rio Ferdinand, Morrison reveals the reason why he stole his boots
* Morrison admits he would take the boots and sell them on to help feed his family

Ravel Morrison has admitted that he used to steal and sell on Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney's boots just so he could put food on the table for his family as a youngster.

After graduating from Manchester United's academy, Morrison was tipped for greatness after he was given a ringing endorsement by Sir Alex Ferguson, who allegedly rated him as the best teenager he had ever seen.

And while he would eventually make his senior debut for the Red Devils, his time at the club wouldn't last long before being shipped off to West Ham, making just two more appearances for United.

Ravel Morrison admits he used to steal and sell his team-mates boots to help feed his family. Morrison revealed he would take Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney's boots to sell on for £250 a pair, just so he could put food on the table for his family

While his talent on the pitch was unrivalled, issues off the pitch stopped him from progressing with his boyhood club and now the 28-year-old has opened up on what really went wrong for him while talking with Ferdinand on his podcast.

Morrison recalled taking Ferdinand's boots to sell them on just so he could put food on the table, which left the iconic defender to understand his actions after all these years.

And while the pair looked back and laughed at the incident, Morrison revealed his actions were for a good cause.

Morrison was tipped for greatness and was widely regarded as United's most exciting prospect. However, the 28-year-old has opened up on what went wrong for him earlier on in his career

In a conversation on the FIVE YouTube channel, Morrison said to Ferdinand: ‘Remember I got kicked out of the changing room for thieving your boots?’

Ferdinand responded: ‘Tell me if I’m wrong but you were taking our boots down to Goals to show your mates….’

Morrison then said: ‘Obviously I was on scholar’s wage, I was young.

‘You used to get like £250 for a pair of boots. You take two pairs of boots, you get £500 and go home and buy your family a Chinese or something.

‘You guys used to get like 30 pairs of boots. I didn’t mean it to cause harm but when I saw yours or [Wayne] Rooney’s deliveries, you’d get 20-30 pairs at a time, I was thinking one pair to put some food on the table at home, it wouldn’t be a big problem.’

Morrison is currently a free agent after he cancelled his contract at ADO Den Haag last month

Speaking in November, Rooney insisted Morrison should have reached the ‘top level’ while revealing how they tried to help him stay focused both on and off the pitch.

Morrison is currently without a club after he cancelled his contract with Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag last month.

Since leaving United, Morrison has played for 11 different teams in the nine years since leaving Old Trafford and has struggled to find his feet.

The Jamaica international made five appearances for Ruud Brood's side, and is now on the look out for a new club.
