WHEN COULD ALEXIS RETURN FROM INJURY?

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes Alexis Sanchez could be back from his knee injury for the season run-in.

The Chilean was hoping to show his best form when suffering a jarring challenge during the 3-2 win over Southampton at Old Trafford. Leaving the field in some pain, it was clear the forward would require some time on the sidelines again, continuing his wretched luck with injuries this term.

Alexis has been away in Barcelona as he steps up his rehabilitation but there is every chance he will be available again before the campaign ends.

“He's coming back on Sunday,” Ole declared at his press conference, ahead of the Emirates FA Cup quarter-final tie at Wolves. “He's not been on grass yet, so he's been seeing his people in Barcelona.

”So he's still a few weeks away, yeah, but if we get to around Everton, [Manchester] City, Chelsea, that period, he'll probably be available. Hopefully [that is the case].“

Obviously, Alexis won't be involved in international action during the upcoming domestic break - with Chile up against Mexico and USA in friendlies.

When asked if United will see the best of the 30-year-old, Solskjaer replied: “I hope so. You can never be 100 per cent sure of course, but Alexis is such a determined lad and he loves football.

”So I'm sure he's doing everything he can when he comes back, to show his best side.“

Manchester United have been dealt an injury scare, after striker Romelu Lukaku had to miss Belgium training in order to have an MRI scan on his foot.

The powerful forward has joined up with his nation for the international break, though had to miss out on Monday's practice session.

Belgium later confirmed to fans that Lukaku 'had an MRI scan of his foot' and that results were being waited upon.

The news will come as a concern to Ole Gunnar Solskajer and the United hierarchy at Old Trafford.

They still harbour hopes of securing a place in the Champions League for next season.

Any potential injury to Lukaku could hamper United's European aspirations this season also, as they remain in the Champions League at the quarter-final stage.

United progressed to the quarter-final stage following an impressive comeback victory over Paris Saint Germain, in which Lukaku was among the goals.

Barcelona await them in the final eight, with the first fixture arriving on April 10 at Old Trafford.

Luke Shaw has withdrawn from the England squad to face Czech Republic and Montenegro.

The Manchester United star will miss the Euro 2020 double-header through injury in another injury blow to Gareth Southgate.

John Stones, Fabian Delph and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have already dropped out through injury — though their withdrawals were offset by the call-ups of James Ward-Prowse and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Shaw's withdrawal means Leicester's Ben Chilwell is in pole position to start the two games.

Jordan Henderson, however, is expected to be fit for international duty despite carrying an ankle injury.

The Liverpool captain missed Sunday's win at Fulham, but his club boss Jurgen Klopp said: 'He will go to the national team. He has two or three days still at Melwood, but it still looks positive.

'When it looks positive and he can train, he will go to the national team. He was not able to play today, but it's not that serious. In three or four days, it should be fine.'

Manchester - Anthony Martial batal memperkuat timnas Prancis di jeda internasional yang akan datang. Cedera lututnya kambuh dan Martial harus kembali ke Manchester United.

Martial baru kembali bermain usai sempat menepi karena cedera. Ia masuk sebagai pengganti saat MU menghadapi Arsenal dan main penuh selama 90 menit di laga Piala FA melawan Wolverhampton Wanderers akhir pekan kemarin.

Martial seharusnya bersama timnas Prancis untuk bersiap menghadapi laga kualifikasi Piala Eropa 2020 melawan Moldova dan Islandia. Namun pemain berusia 23 tahun itu terpaksa mundur karena cedera.

Federasi Sepakbola Prancis (FFF) menyebut bahwa masalah di lutut kanan Martial kambuh. Posisinya di timnas kini digantikan oleh winger Atletico Madrid, Thomas Lemar.

"Masalah di lutut kanan Anthony Martial kambuh. Dia kembali merasakan sakit di lutut kanannya setelah pertandingan hari Sabtu melawan Wolverhampton," demikian bunyi pernyataan FFF seperti dikutip situs resmi MU.

Kembali ke Manchester dengan cedera, Martial akan menjalani pemeriksaan di kompleks latihan MU. Meski demikian, Setan Merah belum merinci berapa lama waktu yang dibutuhkan Martial untuk sembuh.

Martial musim ini sudah main 30 kali di semua kompetisi bersama MU. Sejauh ini, ia mengemas 11 gol dan dua assist.

Romelu Lukaku is returning to Manchester United after he was ruled out of Belgium's internationals against Russia and Cyprus with a foot injury.

Lukaku sustained the injury in United's stunning Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain in France a fortnight ago and aggravated it in the defeat by Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium four days later.

The 25-year-old missed United's FA Cup exit at Wolves last weekend before travelling to Belgium to be assessed by the national team doctors.

Manchester United face an anxious wait to discover the extent of the head injury suffered by Eric Bailly on international duty.

The centre-half went down in a heap following a nasty clash of heads during the second-half of Ivory Coast's 3-0 win against Rwanda.

There were reports a team-mate had to open his mouth to check if he had not swallowed his tongue.

He fell out of favour with former Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, but he has not been given a lifeline by caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
