83 English players started opening Premier League weekend... the most since 2010-11 season (as even top six clubs named 22 homegrown players!)

* 83 English players started for Premier League clubs during opening weekend
* That number is the highest since the 2010-2011 Premier League campaign
* 22 of the 83 English starters played for the top six clubs in the division

The highest number of English players started the opening weekend of the Premier League in nine years as a total number of 83 players played across the 20 clubs.

That means that 37.73 per cent of the players who started for Premier League clubs this weekend were English.

The last time a higher number of English players started on the opening weekend of the Premier League came in the 2010-11 season when 85 played.

There was even a large contingency of homegrown players that featured for the top six clubs with a total number of 22 English players starting - the highest number since 2016-17 season.

All the English starters for the top six clubs were under 30 years of age, with an average of 23 years and 351 days.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Calum Chambers, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson all started Arsenal's win over while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson played the full 90 in their opening-day victory over Norwich.

Manchester United named the most English players from the off with a total of five in their comprehensive 4-0 win against Chelsea on Sunday.

Manchester United had more English starters over the weekend than any of the top-six clubs

TOTTENHAM

New signings Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire both started alongside their fellow countrymen Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford - who grabbed a brace in the win.

Mason Mount, Ross Barkley, Tammy Abraham all started the game against United for Chelsea as Frank Lampard got off to a nightmare start.

The Premier League champions City named three Englishmen in their starting XI for their game against West Ham.

Kyle Walker, John Stones and Raheem Sterling all started but it was the latter who had the most impact with the forward scoring a hat-trick in the 5-0 win.

While Tottenham started Kyle Walker-Peters, Danny Rose, Harry Winks and Harry Kane for their victory against Aston Villa. There could have been more English players starting had Dele Alli been fit.

Liverpool 'set to land most lucrative Premier League kit deal in history with Nike that eclipses Manchester United's £75m-a-season package with adidas'

* Barcelona earn the most from kit deals in world football raking in £100million
* Manchester United lead the way in the Premier League as they earn £75m a year
* Jurgen Klopp's side are in the final season of their current deal with New Balance

Liverpool are close to signing a new Premier League record kit deal, according to Forbes.

Spanish giants Barcelona earn the most from kit deals in world football raking in a whopping £100million a year.

Manchester United lead the way in the Premier League though as they currently earn £75m a year with adidas but the Reds are believed to be about to top that.

Jurgen Klopp's side are into the fifth and final season of their current deal with New Balance. Liverpool are close to signing a new Premier League record kit deal according to Forbes

Jurgen Klopp's side are into the fifth and final season of their current contract with New Balance.

That deal is worth £45m per year but Klopp's men could well be turning out in Nike kits from the 2020/21 season.

The Reds' recent successes in Europe, challenging for the Premier League title and their wide, global fan base makes them an exciting proposition for potential suitors.

Liverpool have reportedly also held talks with Puma and adidas in recent months but Nike are the front-runners to land the Anfield club.

A clause in New Balance's contract means they have the right to match any potential new offer and extend their deal.

But any a new deal is expected to be the most lucrative in Premier League history.

Premier League clubs set to back plans to scrap early closing of transfer window and move back in line with rest of Europe at meeting on Thursday

* Premier League clubs are set to scrap early closure of the transfer window
* Since 2018 clubs in England have been subject to a pre-season deadline day

Premier League clubs are set to scrap the early closure of the transfer window.

Since 2018, clubs in England have been subject to a pre-season deadline day - but clubs in Europe continue to trade for another three weeks.

Sources have told Sportsmail that the move has been 'a disaster' and there is a growing confidence that those who wish to return to the old system will secure the 11 votes needed to trigger its reinstatement.

Premier League clubs are set to scrap the early closure of the transfer window

Much of the discontent comes from clubs within the big six, who feel that the switch - brought in to protect each side from having its players poached during the season - has done little other than leave all English clubs vulnerable to raids from Europe.

There is also a belief that the early closure, which sees the window shut on the final Thursday before the new campaign kicks off, has unnecessarily given those on the Continent the edge when it comes to negotiating fees.

Manchester United are understood to be keen on going back to the previous system, along with a growing number of other clubs.

Last month, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers joined his Tottenham and Liverpool counterparts Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp in admitting the early closure leaves Premier League sides at a disadvantage.

The issue is on the agenda for the next shareholders' meeting on September 12. A vote may well take place at the summit, although it could be deferred to November.

The future of Pochettino's playmaker Christian Eriksen remained unclear up until Monday night's deadline, a situation that has not helped Spurs' start to the campaign while a similar scenario unfolded at United, with Paul Pogba also continuously linked with a switch to Real Madrid.

At the 2017 vote, 14 clubs voted in favour of the proposal and five against, with one abstention.

The five consisted of both Manchester clubs, Crystal Palace, Watford and Swansea City but the feeling is that the 11 needed to trigger a return is likely.

Leagues in Italy, Spain, Germany and France closed their windows on Monday night.

Manchester United's penalty record is so bad, only one team has a worse success rate over the past 10 years

* Norwich only top flight team with worse penalty record than Manchester United
* Both Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford have missed penalties recently for United
* United have missed 17 penalties in last 10 years, scoring 41 out of 58 attempts
* Sunderland have best record having scored 39 out of their 42 penalties

Manchester United's recent troubles from the penalty spot have left them with a shockingly poor record among Premier League clubs.

Both Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford missed penalties for United before the international break as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer searches for a reliable option.

A look at penalty success rate for the last 10 seasons for every team in the Premier League and Football League, has revealed only one current top-flight side ranks below United.

Long-term woes for United

United have missed 17 penalties over the 10 years, scoring 41 out of 58 attempts.

Former England captain Wayne Rooney was responsible for five of those misses, with Robin van Persie, Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic also among the big names to suffer.

Among this season's 20 Premier League clubs, only Norwich have a worse record - the Canaries have missed six of their last seven penalties and 16 out of 43 over the 10-year period, and their success rate of 62.8 per cent is the only one below 70 per cent in the top flight.

United are at 70.7 per cent - had they scored one or both of those recent efforts, they would have ranked 16th or 17th out of 20. In either case they would move ahead of Everton, who are at 72.1 per cent after missing 12 out of 43 penalties.

West Ham are the Premier League's best penalty takers, with 35 successful kicks out of 40 over the 10 years for an 87.5 per cent success rate - helped by captain Mark Noble's 28 out of 30.

Norwich are only Premier League team with a worse penalty record than Manchester United. Norwich have missed six of their last seven penalties and 16 out of 43 in the last 10 years

Southampton (84.4 per cent) and Sheffield United (83.3) are their nearest challengers, though the Blades have been outside the Premier League for the entirety of that timeframe until this season.

Bournemouth edge out Crystal Palace for the most penalties awarded, 78 to 76, with both teams scoring 62.

Manchester City are third on 68 - matched by Championship sides Derby and Reading - and have scored 54, giving them the best conversion rate among the 'big six' with 79.4 per cent.

Liverpool (79.3) and Chelsea (79.2) are just behind, with Tottenham at 78.3, Arsenal 74.4 and United lagging behind.

Sunderland show the way

Across the top four divisions as a whole, Sunderland lead the way in success from the spot - excluding Salford, who have scored their only penalty since entering the Football League this summer.

The Black Cats may have suffered successive relegations in 2017 and 2018 but in one stretch during the 10 years they scored 26 successive penalties, helping them to an overall record of 39 out of 42 and a 92.9 per cent success rate.

Jermain Defoe scored six, Craig Gardner five and Fabio Borini four without missing with Adam Johnson, Darren Bent, Lewis Grabban, Lynden Gooch and Jordi Gomez all three from three and Aiden McGeady four from five.

Sunderland have scored 39 out of their 42 penalties during the last decade

Bristol Rovers are second with 44 out of 50 to edge out West Ham with an 88 per cent success rate - while local rivals Bristol City are fifth, splitting the Saints and Blades on 84.3 per cent and giving Bristol as a whole a record of 87 out of 101.

The top 10 is completed by Plymouth, Swansea, Lincoln and then Burnley and Doncaster in a tie for 10th on 82.6 per cent (38 out of 46).

At the other end of the table, Brentford prop up the standings with a miserable 54.8 per cent 'success' rate - the Bees have converted only 34 out of 62 spot-kicks, with three misses apiece for Alan Judge, Clayton Donaldson and Sam Saunders.

Fellow Championship side Huddersfield have not fared much better, with 20 out of 35 (57.1 per cent), while League Two pair Cambridge and Newport are also languishing below 60 per cent.

The figures suggest conversion rates improve higher up the divisions - Norwich are the only Premier League side among the 18 clubs ranked below Manchester United.

Hi-Vis is back! Premier League switches to classic Nike winter ball... with Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane hitting more prolific levels than Thierry Henry and Cristiano Ronaldo when the yellow design is used

* The Premier League is set to switch to the hi-visibility yellow winter ball
* Sports giants Nike have released their latest design with a old school reference
* Stats show certain players start to excel once the winter ball comes into play
* Mohamed Salah boasted a goal-per-game ratio with the ball in his debut season

Football fans will notice the familiar return of the classic winter ball this weekend, as the Premier League officially ticks over into winter season.

The new ball, released by sports giants Nike, features a throwback old school design to acknowledge the 'Total 90' era.

Winter balls first came into use in the Premier League 15 years ago during the 2004/5 season, and have become a permanent fixture at the end of the calendar year ever since.

And for those of you are thinking is it simply a colour change, well for certain Premier League stars it is much more.

Statistics show several top flight stars perform much better once the high-vis ball comes into play, and have the goalscoring figures to match.

During his record-breaking debut season with Liverpool, Mohamed Salah really caught fire once the ball switched from customary white to a flash of neon yellow.

Thierry Henry racked up a 0.71 goals-per-game average for Arsenal with the winter ball

Finding the back of the net at an alarming rate... for his opponents at least... Salah averaged a goal-per-game ratio during his first season on Merseyside, when the yellow ball was in use.

Stats also show that Harry Kane features in second place boasting a 0.84 per match goals ratio, while Arsenal legend Thierry Henry racked up a 0.71 average and Cristiano Ronaldo, during his Manchester United days, 0.63.

'The latest iteration of the Premier League Hi-Vis Merlin footballs pays homage to the iconic heritage of the Total 90 Aerow football with a T90 logo featured on one of the panels,' say Nike of their latest creation.

'It marks the first time in the competition’s history that the Hi-Vis football will have a different design to the regular season Merlin.'

Chelsea are the dirtiest team in Premier League history, while Derby have picked up more booking points per game than any other side… but where does your club sit?

* Chelsea are the dirtiest team in Premier League history , a new study has found
* Teams were awarded 10 points for a yellow and 25 for every red card received
* The west London side amassed a staggering 18,360 points to top their rivals

Chelsea have been crowned the dirtiest team in the history of the Premier League.

A new study, conducted by Spreadex, revealed that the Stamford Bridge club top the charts for their ill-discipline, with Derby County, on average, running in second.

Teams have been awarded 10 points for a yellow card and 25 for a red card and adding up the sums saw Chelsea accrue a whopping 18,360 points, blowing away their rivals.

A new study has found that Chelsea are the dirtiest team in the history of the Premier League

The Spreadez study took into account every yellow and red card in the Premier League era

In the table of total points, rather than the second study focused on averages, Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham finish in the Champions League places.

Manchester United finished outside the top four, ending up fifth with 16,570, while West Ham came sixth.

Table-toppers Liverpool appear to be one of the more disciplined staples of the Premier League's main order with Jurgen Klopp's side pulling in at ninth in the all-time rankings.

Derby, pictured in 2008 in the Premier League, have the most booking points on average

In addition, Klopp’s side have had the lowest average bookings or dismissals per game from all 20 teams in the last three campaigns.

But as well as one study looking at the cumulative amount of points since the Premier League began in 1992, there was a second study to look at the average number of booking points a side has.

This study has knocked Chelsea off the top and instead Derby take the crown with an average of 21.82 booking points per game based on the 266 Premier League matches they have played.

Sunderland, who played 608 games in the top flight, came second on average with Hull City, Watford, Barnsley and Stoke completing the top six.

A second study gathered data which looked at the average booking points from each side

Premier League plan to play matches just NINE DAYS before start of controversial World Cup in Qatar with season set to start early and finish late to make room for first ever winter tournament

* Plans are being drawn up to play Premier League games before the World Cup
* They would see a round of games occur nine days before the tournament starts
* Premier League want to minimise the amount of disruption to the calendar
* As it stands the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is due to get underway on November 21

The Premier League have drawn up plans that would see games played just over a week before the 2022 World Cup starts.

Officials have drafted proposals that include fixtures in the Premier League and Championship on November 12, nine days before the Qatar tournament kicks off on November 21.

The plans also include a Boxing Day restart eight days after the final in a bid to minimise disruption.

Premier League clubs could be in action nine days before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup

It is understood that the two-week winter break, which comes into play for the first time this season, would be scrapped in 2022 before returning a year after the World Cup.

To allow for the extra time needed, the domestic season for the top two tiers would kick off a week earlier and end a week later.

The move, should it come into play, would cause ructions with clubs, especially if countries in the World Cup wanted players for pre-tournament training and Premier League teams were forced to play league matches without their internationals.

It also raises questions over player welfare – Premier League stars who play in the final could be back in action just over a week later.

A computer-generated artist's impression provided by the organisers of the Qatar World Cup. The 2022 World Cup in Qatar is scheduled to get underway with the first game on November 21

Clubs have been made aware of the proposals and the response was said to be positive. The plans will be discussed at next month's shareholders meeting.

There is a recognition that many leagues across the world share the same problem along with a hope for understanding around what is a unique situation. The World Cup has been switched to winter due to the searing summer heat in Qatar, when temperatures can reach 40c.

UEFA said a decision on the scheduling of that season's Champions League and Europa League will not be made until 2021. Leagues One and Two are expected to continue as normal.

The Premier League declined to comment.

Dewan Pengawasnya pasti model kolonial nih bukan millenial

Dewas TVRI: Liga Inggris Tak Selaras Jati Diri Bangsa
Bayu Baskoro - detikSport

Jakarta - Liga Inggris menjadi salah satu polemik dibalik pemecatan Helmy Yahya sebagai Dirut TVRI. Tayangan Premier League disebut tak sesuai jati diri bangsa.
