Yah, mind games. Saling ejek, saling puji, saling jual beli omongan. Intinya bikin lawan down atau pemaen sendiri makin semangat. Mo di analisa ya monggo...

Apa sih kesamaan Baines sama Martinez? Sama2 dari Everton kan? Terlepas omongannya bener nggak tapi tetep aja bagian mind games. Nggak mungkin Gerrard ikutan nimbrung kan.

Rooney, Mata dan Kagawa jadi PR besar buat manajer United musim depan. Klo sendiri2 sih bagus, tapi klo maen bareng butuh kerja keras khususnya buat pertahanan.

Lawan Everton kelihatan jelas klo Kagawa jadi lobang besar di pertahanan United. Buat nyerang sih menjanjikan possession tapi buat bertahan jadi momok.

Wayne Rooney's unhappy homecoming at Everton was full of graft... but not much craft as Man United slump again

The Grim Reaper may have been looming over David Moyes on his first return to Goodison Park as Manchester United manager, but another former Evertonian had an equally tormented homecoming.

Wayne Rooney first introduced himself to the national consciousness as a 16-year-old Everton man child with that goal against Arsenal in 2002. He may have been 'once a Blue' but many Toffees fans haven't forgiven him for his contentious departure to Old Trafford.

The abuse he has received on previous returns to Everton even prompted former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to omit him from the travelling squad - and, at the times it mattered on Sunday, it seemed he was absent again.

Playing in his preferred role as main striker, the England talisman - who has only recently returned from an injury that has kept him out since the Champions League loss to Bayern Munich - gave a typically industrious performance without threatening to silence the Goodison faithful with a goal.

As Rooney's heat map from Sportsmail's excellent Match Zone illustrates, the 28-year-old spent most of the game roaming a central position outside of the opposition area - but only entered the danger area on three occassions.

He was unfortunate not to score in the final minutes when a combination of poor shot selection and superb goalkeeping from Tim Howard thwarted him.

It was Rooney's only effort either on or off target during the entire 90minutes of the eventual 2-0 defeat that poses more questions over Moyes' future at the club.

Goals from former United target Leighton Baines and Kevin Miralles kept Roberto Martinez's side in the hunt for a fourth place finish, a crucial result given Arsenal's 3-0 against Hull earlier in the day.

However, although Everton were quite clearly the better side, the scoreline deceives to flatter in terms of statistics.

United had the lion's share of possession (61.2%), made significantly more passes (598 compared to 371) and led the crossing statistics. But, they simply lacked any cutting edge - in both attack and defence.

Everton had 17 shots compared to United's nine and more than twice as many efforts on target - despite the comparative costs of the two forward lines.

Without the ball, the Red Devils were equally as lacklustre - while Everton won 91.3% of their tackles, the visitors could only manage 63.6% on their way to a 10th defeat in 22 games played during 2014.

Grim Reaper or not, Moyes will have to continue looking over his shoulder untilat least the end of the season.

Default Re: Criticism Moyes Strategy

David Moyes couldn't find a settled side and picked 51 different starting XIs in 51 games!

It is the players who should be on trial at a football club, not the manager.

David Moyes walked into a Manchester United dressing room with 216 trophies between them.

The squad were used to being challenged and pushed every day by Sir Alex Ferguson, a man who had won more than any of them. Unfortunately, Moyes has no trophies to his name, so how was he supposed to earn their respect?

I was concerned for Moyes — a man who I have interviewed and have enormous respect for — when captain Nemanja Vidic announced he was going to leave the club. He pulled away his support for the manager and that sent out all the wrong signals.

Time's up! Sir Alex Ferguson played a major part in electing Moyes as his successor

When you start at a new club, you need to work out quickly who your best players are and then formulate a system that will suit them.

Moyes failed to do either, picking 51 different starting XIs in his 51 games in charge. Yes, Ferguson used to rotate his squad, too, but he knew who he could rely on in the big games.

Moyes couldn’t crack the code and at times his system seemed old-fashioned. United weren’t great at the back under Ferguson but they could usually outscore opponents.

Moyes tried to iron out those defensive deficiencies but he took away United’s attacking instinct in the process.

While Liverpool and Everton are now playing with freedom, United look outdated. They had to act — a club as big as United cannot afford to have a transitional period.

Real Madrid or Barcelona would probably not have waited this long before getting rid of someone.

I’m sure Moyes will be successful again and I’d expect his next job to be abroad.

Manchester United Lack Direction, Penetration and Shape; Everton Kill on Counter

David Moyes endured a woefully disappointing return to Goodison Park on Sunday, watching his Manchester United side lose 2-0 to Everton and allowing the Toffees a clean sweep of his troops for the season.

Phil Jones conceded a penalty for pulling off a diving save in the box in the first half—Leighton Baines converted—then Kevin Mirallas fired home from an acute angle just before half-time.

It was the worst United have looked for some time and just so happened to coincide with their manager's return to his old stomping ground. Goodison Park shouted "Moysie Moysie give us a wave!" throughout the match, teasing the Scot over the contrasting fortunes of the clubs in question.

Let's take a tactical look at the match and how it played out.

Formations and XIs

Everton played a counter-attacking 4-2-3-1 formation with Steven Naismith behind Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley operating from the left.

Manchester United chose a possession-hungry 4-2-3-1 themselves, with Shinji Kagawa left, Juan Mata central and Nani floating aimlessly across the pitch from the right. Chris Smalling, not Phil Jones, manned the right-back spot.

United clueless in attack

The pattern of the game became quite clear from the off, with Everton sitting off and allowing Manchester United possession of the ball in every third of the pitch.

The Red Devils ended up with 61 percent possession in total, leading David Moyes to suggest his side played "quite well" in the post-match press conference, but it was all what's become known as pointless possession.

Quote:

@RobDawsonMEN
If Moyes thinks United played well today, god knows what would have happened if they'd played badly.
The organisation—or lack of, in this instance—of United's approach and midfield was self-destructive, with certain players harming their own team's chances of scoring by wandering too far from their positions and refusing to make penetrative runs.

Wayne Rooney was the chief culprit here, point-blank refusing to surge in behind Everton's centre-backs and invited short, sharp passes rather than penetrative, raking ones.

Everton were perfectly happy for Juan Mata to get on the ball (96 total touches) so long as he had no outlet to pick out, and United's players seemed wholly unable to work out how to get themselves into strong positions.

Smalling provided an out-ball when possible, but his ability in tight areas is suspect, and he was swamped out by the presence of Leighton Baines or his own poor touches more often than not. Alexander Buttner looked scared of Seamus Coleman and scared of leaving space behind. Nani drifted around harmlessly, ruining United's balance and width, and Rooney dropped too deep too often and nullified himself as a threat.

United made plenty of passes in the final third—154 to be exact—but few penetrated the box, and the ones that did were largely unsuccessful.

No shape, no penetration, no runs, no organisation.

Everton masterful in their work-rate, positioning and counters

As bad as United were, take nothing away from Everton who played a phenomenal, near-perfect game of football.

The Toffees sat deep without the ball, stacked their defensive line like they did at White Hart Lane just a few months ago and countered with pace.

They lost 1-0 the last time they tried this, but they were missing Romelu Lukaku and Seamus Coleman—two players who played seismic roles in the win on Sunday afternoon.

Seamus Coleman giving beautiful runs down the pitch today. The amount of energy in this match is incredible. #COYB
Coleman, in particular, got the beating of Buttner early on and tortured him for the rest of the game, running directly at him and twisting him inside out. Naismith moved the ball quickly from player to player, and Lukaku led the charge centrally, frightening the centre-backs with every surge.

Roberto Martinez's side frequently caught United three-on-three, bypassing Michael Carrick/Darren Fletcher with ease and working a strong goalscoring chance.

The penalty, via a Phil Jones panic-induced handball, and Kevin Mirallas' strike were both works of counter-attacking art. Had the decision-making been better, or if Naismith had brought his shooting boots, it could easily have been more.

Barkley underwhelmed on the left on paper, but he was merely part of a three-pronged attacked that was designed to carry the ball over long distances on the counter. His dribbling ability convinced Martinez to try him there, and he did his job aptly.

Naismith was a key performer in every department, buzzing around United's midfield in possession and acting as a conduit for the ball on the counter. Once a scapegoat, the Scot is now integral to Everton's approach.

John Stones was aggressive when required and looked positionally excellent—again. James McCarthy put in a shift ahead of the defensive line, ensuring Mata and Co. had no time to stabilise themselves for a killer ball.

Afterthoughts

A nightmare afternoon for Moyes in which he was out-thought, his side were outclassed and the changing fortunes of both clubs came irrepressibly to the fore.

Coleman battered Buttner, McCarthy dominated midfield and, even when Sylvain Distin bowed out to leave the Toffees with two "reserve" defenders, United barely had a sniff.

Every defeat weakens Moyes' position, yet every victory appears irrelevant.
