Default Manchester United under Solskjaer

'We have the best goalkeeper in the world': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises David de Gea... and remembers 'little kid' Jesse Lingard clattering a centre back on his reserves debut

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed David de Gea is the best goalkeeper in the world
* The former United player also recalled giving Jesse Lingard his reserves debut
* Solskjaer has enjoyed seeing striker Marcus Rashford's rise to the first-team
* The Norwegian was the United reserves manager back in the summer of 2008

New Manchester United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he has the best goalkeeper in the world in David de Gea.

In his first interview since taking over at Old Trafford, the former United player also recalled giving Jesse Lingard his reserves debut against Burnley and spoke of his enjoyment at seeing Marcus Rashford's rise to the first-team.

Solskjaer told MUTV: 'I have spoken to David and Emilio (Alvarez, goalkeeping coach) and he loves Emilio, he really, really is so complimentary about him.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he has the best goalkeeper in the world. Solskjaer joked that he might have to do some finishing training to keep the keeper in check

'We have one of the best goalkeepers, the best goalkeeper in the world.

'He has been player of the year so many times over I think eight years, and he is still a young keeper developing so that’s fantastic for me to come in.

'Maybe I’ll have to do some finishing training with him just to peg him down a little bit!'

Solskjaer was the United reserves manager in the summer of 2008 after he called time on his own trophy-laden playing career.

Solskjaer revealed that he watched Marcus Rashford as a kid and has enjoyed his rise up ranks

The Norweigan boss spoke about coaching Lingard at reserve level, recalling: 'I gave him his debut in the reserves away at Burnley.

'Within two minutes that little tiny kid goes in for a 50/50 with a massive centre back and the little kid absolutely clattered him.

'I thought: "You have a chance". He showed me he had something.'

Solskjaer also revealed that he watched Rashford as a kid, remembering: 'I watched him when he was younger. He was really young. I’ve followed him closely and it’s great to see him where he is now.'

The former Norway international has replaced Mourinho, who was sacked on Tuesday - two days after the Red Devils lost 3-1 to Liverpool.

Semoga penampilan United seperti semalam bisa terus dipertahankan hingga akhir musim

Rooney: MU Lebih Bebas dan Lepas di Bawah Solskjaer
Rifqi Ardita Widianto - detikSport

Jakarta - Manchester United dinilai menunjukkan aura berbeda bersama Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Tuan rumah membalas sekali melalui Victor Camarasa.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer makes promising start in restoring Manchester United's core values as players begin to revel in expressing themselves on the pitch

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is gradually restoring Manchester United's key beliefs
* His side beat Huddersfield 3-1 at Old Trafford to continue unbeaten start as boss
* A rejuvenated Paul Pogba scored twice after Nemanja Matic had tapped home
* Team look more attacking and Angel Gomes' late cameo showed faith in youth

Consider this for a moment. It took Jose Mourinho 45 days to collect his last six points as manager of Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done it in five.

Eight goals have been scored and two conceded. A top-four place is back in United’s sights.

But figures alone cannot demonstrate the transformation that has taken place almost overnight on the caretaker’s watch.

Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba have been given more freedom to express themselves

Here, in Solskjaer’s first home game, Old Trafford delighted in the new lease of life he has given his players; the feelgood factor of watching United on the front foot again.

The 45-year-old returned to the old place to a hero’s welcome and the banner ‘20LEGEND’ — 20 being his old shirt number, with the OLE in red — back on display in the corner of the North Stand, acknowledging the acclaim from all four sides of the ground.

He left the stage two hours to another ovation after building on his opening win at Cardiff with another deserved, if less convincing, victory over Huddersfield.

‘We have to remind people what Manchester United is all about,’ Solskjaer wrote in the match programme. ‘We have to show everybody who we really are.

‘This is a club built on entertainment and excitement, on giving young players the opportunity to express themselves.’ One of the great anomalies of the Mourinho era was United’s willingness to hand the reins to a coach whose c.v. - decorated though it was - could not have been less in keeping with those core values.

Former Man United pair Mike Phelan and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have so far been successful

His last game in charge here was a 4-1 win over Fulham but that was an exception. We had long come to expect a very different kind of football, and result, from his United team.

At first, the decision to bring in Solskjaer and Mike Phelan appeared fanciful. Sentimental even. But at least United know they have people at the helm now who will be true to the traditions of the club.

The hope is that players, particularly the younger ones, will respond positively to be given greater freedom and a licence to attack.

Never was that more apparent than in the 40th minute when Marcus Rashford faced Mathias Jorgensen on the left touchline with the ball at his feet.

In the blink of an eye, United’s young No 10 nutmegged his opponent and burst clear before swinging a cross to the far post.

Academy graduate Angel Gomes came on for Manchester United as they turned to youth

It hardly seemed to matter that Diogo Dalot turned the ball wide with a first-time attempt. Old Trafford was still roaring its appreciation of Rashford’s audacity and skill.

All over the pitch, others were following suit, free of the fear of making a mistake. At one point Nemanja Matic, scorer of the opening goal, found himself as the last man but felt confident enough to trick his opponent with a lovely drag-back before breaking upfield.

It won’t always work out as well as this. ‘I am under no illusions as to the scale of the job ahead, ‘ Solskjaer added in his notes. ‘We all have a lot of work to do to get this club back towards where it should be.’

Indeed, Huddersfield should have been ahead when Terence Kongolo fired over. Philip Billing, Elias Kachunga and Laurent Depoitre - who forced a wonder save from David de Gea - also went close when United were only one up and looking decidedly shaky.

Full-back Diogo Dalot was replaced in the second half but will have another chance to impress

Summer signings Fred and Dalot were replaced in a double substitution just eight minutes after half-time that demonstrated Solskjaer is not afraid to take decisive action.

His third replacement, 18-year-old Angel Gomes, was only introduced after Paul Pogba’s two goals had secured victory, and the decision drew warm appreciation from home fans who recognised the significance of it.

The outcome was in some doubt until then, but wasn’t that half the fun of watching the United of old? The possibility that a commitment to attacking football could blow up in their faces?

Solskjaer knows the deal. He knows what can happen when you play this kind of game, and he is happy to take the risk.

Two matches in and no-one is complaining.

Betul, lawan Spurs nanti yg jadi ujian sebenarnya buat Ole.

GIGGS: SOLSKJAER HAS A STERNER SIDE

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have a friendly demeanour but he also has an 'edge', according to his former team-mate Ryan Giggs.

Solskjaer has turned the team's fortunes around over the last week, starting with an encouraging 5-1 drubbing of Cardiff City in South Wales, before building on that victory with Boxing Day's 3-1 defeat of Huddersfield Town at Old Trafford.

Giggs, who of course had his own spell as United's caretaker boss back in 2014, is not surprised to see Ole doing a great job so far, given what he knows about the Norwegian's character.

“Even though everyone thinks he is a nice guy, he has [also] got an edge to him and you need that as a manager,” Ryan told MUTV after the Huddersfield game.

“I believed he would go into coaching. [As a player] he was always quietly confident and he believed in his own ability.

“As he gained more experience, and especially when he got that injury and had a bit of time out, it was quite well documented how he used to take notes on what Sir Alex [Ferguson] used to do.

“Ole is doing a great job. It's not always easy to follow up the positivity [of the Cardiff game], but I thought the lads did great today, in what was not an easy game at times.”

Commenting on the win against Huddersfield and the positive mood at the club over Christmas, Giggs says the key players are stepping up and making a difference.

“With it being Ole’s first home game, and especially given the positivity that came from the Cardiff performance and the result, I think everyone was looking forward to the game,” he continued.

“The big players are turning up. [Paul] Pogba with the goals, David [De Gea] with a great save and Marcus [Rashford] is just getting better and better with each game. So there is a real positivity around the place and we need to carry that on now going into the Bournemouth game.”

With Arsenal and Chelsea both dropping Premier League points in the last five days, and United's past habit of surging in the second halves of seasons, Giggs believes a top-four place is certainly still achievable for the Reds in 2019.

“It's a tough league but there are a lot of games to come, and we've seen what can happen in football with Manchester City and Liverpool [swapping places],” said Ryan.

“We used to do it [as players], we could have been 10 or 12 points behind, but we chased down those leads at times.

”As long as it is mathematical[ly possible], and you probably need to beat your rivals as well, [then there is a chance].

“We need a good run of games. Getting our confidence up going into that Tottenham game [on 13 January] will be important as well.”

'There's a real positivity around the place': Ryan Giggs hails impact of Man United caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Huddersfield victory

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has led Manchester United to back-to-back victories
* Ryan Giggs was at Old Trafford on Boxing Day to see his former side win 3-1
* He believes Solskjaer has lifted the fans and players following his arrival

Manchester United great Ryan Giggs has hailed the impact of caretaker manager and his former team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian has overseen a fine start to the post-Jose Mourinho era, having just last week been parachuted into the hotseat for the remainder of the season.

Solskjaer followed the 5-1 triumph at former club Cardiff — the first time United had netted five in a league match since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 — with another comprehensive win against Huddersfield on Boxing Day.

Giggs, the club's last caretaker manager, was among the star names in attendance for the 3-1 win and has been impressed by the immediate impact made by his former team-mate.

'Ole's first home game and especially the positivity that came from the Cardiff game, the performance and the result, I think everyone was looking forward to the game,' the 45-year-old said.

'And the big players are turning up – (Paul) Pogba with the goals, David (De Gea) with a great save and Marcus (Rashford) just getting better and better each game.

'So, there's a real positivity around the place, which we need that to carry on now going into the Bournemouth game.'

While few would consider beating Cardiff and Huddersfield as a true yardstick with which to measure true success and progress for a club like United, it has undoubtedly been a step in the right direction.

Solskjaer has released the shackles and made a striking impact in a short period, having only arrived from Norwegian club Molde last week.

Ryan Giggs was in attendance on Boxing Day to see Manchester United beat Huddersfield

The 45-year-old has barely stopped smiling since the confirmation of his temporary appointment as manager – the kind of role Giggs always felt the treble hero of 1999 would be suited to.

'Yeah, I did because he was always quietly confident, believed in his own ability – and even though people think he's a nice guy, you know he's got an edge to him, which you need as manager,' the United great said.

'As he got more experienced, especially when he had that injury and a bit of time out, it's quite well-documented that he used to take notes of little things that Sir Alex would do.

'So, yeah, I believed that he would go into coaching and he's doing a great job, obviously.'

Next comes Bournemouth's visit to Old Trafford on Sunday as United look to dent the eight-point gap to the top four.

'Well, you've seen in a short space of time what's happened with Liverpool and (Manchester) City,' Wales manager Giggs told MUTV.

'That can happen, and the good thing is there are a lot of games to go.

'But still you can't get ahead of yourself.

'It's a tough league you've seen today it wasn't easy at times, but you can see what happens in football.

'We used to do it 10 or 12 points behind and also we were chased down at times, so as long as it is (a) mathematical (possibility) and you probably need to beat your rivals as well.

'So, a good run of games where you get your confidence up going into that Tottenham game, which will be important as well.'

Default Re: Manchester United under Solskjaer

SOLSKJAER'S SIX OF THE BEST FORWARDS

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was famously rotated as part of an attacking quartet in Manchester United's Treble-winning squad and our caretaker manager is preparing to do the same with the club's current crop of forwards, as several recent absentees approach full fitness.

Anthony Martial missed the Boxing Day win over Huddersfield with illness, while Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez are yet to feature under the Norwegian. But the Reds' new boss is excited at the prospect of having a fully fit sextet at his disposal in attack.

“My thing now is Romelu, Alexis, Anthony, Marcus, Jesse, Juan – there are six forwards for you,” gleamed Solskjaer. “Will we play with more than four at a time? I'm not sure, so the rotation and the communication between the players, so they know they're going to get chances, is important for me.”

With that in mind, we assessed Ole's six stellar forwards and their seasons so far...

ALEXIS

The match-winning hero of one of the most memorable games of the season so far – October's 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle - has been absent since November with a hamstring issue and, like Lukaku, he will be desperate to show Ole his undoubted class. The Chilean has already been described as a 'workaholic' by Solskjaer - any supporters who follow Alexis on Instagram will be familiar with his thirst for fitness work – and the former Arsenal man could yet be a key weapon for United, if he can rediscover the form that made him one of the Premier League's most feared attackers during recent seasons.
United celebrate Anthony Martial goal.

JESSE LINGARD

The Warrington-born star scored a personal best 13 goals last season, but he had to wait until December to open his account for the 2018/19 campaign with our equaliser against Arsenal at Old Trafford. That was actually his first strike since February but Jesse has been flourishing in the few weeks since he found the net against the Gunners, and he has registered four goals and two assists in his last five Premier League games. Memorably, he bagged a double in Ole's first win, at Cardiff, and was also named Man of the Match.

ROMELU LUKAKU

United's top scorer so far in the calendar year of 2018, with 18 strikes, Rom has not played since the defeat at Anfield, so he will be looking to impress the new boss when he returns. Solskjaer has already hinted at his enthusiasm for working with the club's talented forwards, and the prospect of helping one of the stars of the last World Cup reach new heights is an exciting thought for fans.

ANTHONY MARTIAL

The Reds' leading scorer this season, with nine goals, netted just once in the opening 10 games of the campaign – against Young Boys – but as soon as he grabbed a regular place in the starting line-up, he quickly hit top form. The Frenchman scored in six consecutive league matches through October and November, and he was a terrorising threat in Solskjaer's first fixture – the 5-1 thumping of Cardiff. Martial scored arguably the outstanding goal of the game – a sinuous team move involving Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard that climaxed with our no.11 sliding the ball home off the inside of the post.

JUAN MATA

Superb in the win over Huddersfield, Mata's thoughtful link-play offers experience and calmness in attack. His free-kicks have grabbed vital goals for the team (the first in the comeback against Newcastle, the equaliser away to Juventus) and his style of play enables United to slow the game down and control the ball for periods, something Solskjaer has mentioned as important, despite the clear overall emphasis on speedy, direct attacking football.

MARCUS RASHFORD

The hard-running local hero has been directly involved in more goals than any other United forward this term - 10 so far, matching his five goals with the same number of assists; only midfielder Paul Pogba has a higher combined tally. Like Martial, Rashford's season began relatively slowly, but he kickstarted Solskjaer's tenure with a scorching free-kick at Cardiff and three goals in his last five appearances indicate that the England forward is back to his best, now that a busy World Cup summer is well behind him.

Whichever combination of forwards Ole opts for against Bournemouth on Sunday, the busy fixture schedule suggests we'll see all six players at some point in the coming weeks. Watch this space.

Analisis taktik Man United vs Bournemouth

2. Counterpressing & High Press
Counterpressing adlh kondisi saat bola lepas dr penguasaan, pemain akan melakukan pressing scr unit agar bola sesegera mungkin didapatkan. Counterpressing dilakukan sesegera mungkin bahkan di area lawan. Tujuan pressing tidak hanya utk merebut bola namun agar lawan melakukan kesalahan dgn mempersempit area bermain. Blok menjadi tinggi (high press) & jarak antar lini menjadi rapat.

Asimetris & Overload 6 vs 5

Herrera & Young siap utk merubah arah serangan & waspada counter attack. Terlihat Bailly berdiri sampai tengah lapangan (garis tinggi)

4. Swap & Free Roam

awal Martial bertukar posisi

bahkan turun untuk meminta bola

Tambahan:

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will take his Manchester United players away to a £350-a-night warm weather training camp in Dubai following their FA Cup third-round tie with Reading this weekend.

United’s manager and his squad are due to fly out on Saturday evening for a four-day stay at the five-star One&Only Royal Mirage Arabian Court.

Solskjaer has made a big impact since taking over from Jose Mourinho, transforming the mood and playing style. He sees the trip as a chance to bring his squad closer together ahead of their crunch Premier League game against Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham at Wembley on January 13.

Despite the luxury destination, Solskjaer does not intend the trip to be a relaxing break or a reward for his rejuvenated players.

The Norwegian wants to put them through their paces to sharpen up their fitness and use the close environment to assess more acutely the characters he can rely on during his tenure.

Solskjaer and assistant Mike Phelan have gone about their duties with a smile so far, yet the one-time ‘baby-faced assassin’ has not been afraid to show his sterner side.

He reprimanded striker Anthony Martial when the Frenchman missed training on Christmas Day after arriving late from Paris, and will stress the importance of discipline while in Dubai.

Jose Mourinho was often left exasperated at how some of the United squad responded when afforded responsibility before games and Solskjaer has underlined how he won’t allow that to seep back in.

‘You speak to the players with what we, as a staff, expect from the group,’ he said. ‘Never ever, ever, ever forget where you are and what badge you are wearing when you are playing because we do have a different history to other clubs,’ he added in an interview with Stadium Astro.

‘We do have a different tradition. We have had the best boss in the world. We’ve had Sir Matt before then. We have a way of behaving and a way of playing.

‘It is so lovely to walk in here and Kath, the receptionist, still wants to be here. There is a reason players come here but there is also a reason the staff are employed.

‘The staff are here because they are the best at what they are doing. If we can have that continuity, with Kath or the kitchen staff, that’s so important. They know what’s expected and they know the culture of the club.’
