'He knows what he wants to do and what he's going to do': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hints at January transfer move for Erling Haaland after being asked about visiting Salzburg striker

* Erling Haaland is one of the most sought-after players in Europe
* The Red Bull Salzburg forward is interesting Manchester United and Juventus
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was speaking after United's draw with Everton

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United transfer target Erling Braut Haaland has made a decision over his future after holding talks with the Red Bull Salzburg striker last week.

Solskjaer travelled to Salzburg on Friday morning after Haaland had met with representatives of Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Leipzig, as first reported by Norwegian newspaper VG.

The private plane arrived in Manchester from East Midlands Airport and took off again at 6.49am for Austria where Solskjaer is believed to have made his sales pitch to the 19-year-old Norwegian who played under him at Molde.

Erling Haaland has made up his mind about his future according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Haaland is a major target for clubs like Manchester United, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund. But United manager Solskjaer insists Haaland has already decided his next move. The Red Bull Salzburg striker's next move could well be determined by his agent Mino Raiola

It's understood that the plane then took Solskjaer back to Manchester at lunchtime and carried on to Stavanger, close to Haaland's family home where his father, former Leeds United and Manchester City midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, lives.

Solskjaer was asked about the trip following United's 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday, in the wake of reports that Haaland has chosen to sign for United in the January transfer window.

The United boss said: 'I don't comment on speculation so that's it. He knows what he wants to do and what he's going to do.'

United have made signing a striker and two central midfielders their main priority over the next two transfer windows.

While there is an acceptance at Old Trafford that recruitment may be difficult in January, there is a possibility the Haaland deal could be fast-tracked ahead of schedule.

He is one of the most wanted players in Europe after scoring 28 goals in 22 games for Salzburg this season.

Erling Braut Haaland 'chooses Manchester United' over Europe's major heavyweights after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer flew to Austria to meet the in-demand teenage striker ahead of January window

* Erling Haaland is the most sought-after striker in European football right now
* The young Norwegian is rated at around £80million, and top clubs want him
* He has reportedly told Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he wants to join

The highly sought after Norwegian striker Erling Haaland has reportedly told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he wants to join Manchester United, according to The Mirror.

Haaland, who has become the hottest topic in European football ahead of next month's transfer window, is wanted by the likes of United, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and RB Leipzig.

Currently a Red Bull Salzburg player, a swap to sister club Leipzig would appear to be on the cards, but the youngster apparently has other ideas.

As does his agent Mino Raiola, who also manages Paul Pogba and Matthijs de Ligt among other big name stars.

Raiola wants to keep Haaland's options open, but United boss Solskjaer flew to Salzburg on Friday to make a sales pitch to their No 1 transfer target, and the striker seems to have been impressed.

He would be joining up with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial up front for United, making for quite the potent strike force.

Raiola may look for Haaland to join up with de Ligt at Juventus though, which was a big-money move he helped get through the door earlier this year.

Haaland may have already played his last game for Salzburg. He didn't feature against Hartberg through injury, and now the Austrian Bundesliga is on a two-month break.

The 19-year-old has reportedly been to visit the training grounds of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, and allegedly made a quick stop off at Carrington to see the Manchester United facilities.

Now it remains to be seen which team will put up the cash, with Haaland currently rated at around £80million.

* On Sunday, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted at a move for the forward next month

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a £76million deal for Red Bull Salzburg wonderkid Erling Braut Haaland in January but will have to loan him back for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old forward has attracted interest from clubs in Europe after impressing for Salzburg in the Champions League and Austrian Bundesliga this season.

And United appear to be leading the race for Haaland with an agreement near if he returns to Salzburg for the second half of the 2019-20 campaign, according to The Sun.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted at a move for Haaland next month on Sunday after being asked about visiting the forward.

'I don't comment on speculation so that's it. He knows what he wants to do and what he's going to do,' he said.

Haaland has netted an exceptional 28 goals and supplied seven assists in 22 appearances for the Austrian outfit this season.

Manchester United face paying huge £12million fee to agent Mino Raiola to secure Erling Haaland transfer

* Manchester United are leading the race for Red Bull Salzburg's Erling Haaland
* The 19-year-old striker is one of the most in-demand players in Europe
* However United will reportedly have to pay his agent Mino Raiola £12million

Manchester United could have to pay £12m to agent Mino Raiola in order to sign Erling Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg.

United are leading the race to sign the 19-year-old and are closing in on a £76m deal with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirming his interest on Wednesday by saying he 'likes the player'.

However, should the Red Devils sign the in-demand Norwegian striker, they will have to pay a figure of £12m to Haaland's agent Raiola, according to The Sun.

Erling Haaland has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks. Super-agent Mino Raiola represents Haaland and could be paid £12million for the deal

The report suggests that United would be keen to reduce that figure, although they do accept super-agent Raiola will need paying in order to get the deal over the line.

Haaland is one of the most in-form strikers in Europe, after scoring 28 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for RB Salzburg.

United are keen to do business in January after a topsy-turvy start to the season - they are currently sixth in the Premier League table, four points off the Champions League places.

Italy media claim Erling Braut Haaland has chosen January move to Juventus over Manchester United, after Maurizio Sarri 'told club to go after £26m Salzburg star'

* Erling Braut Haaland has chosen his next move, according to reports in Italy
* Various papers report Haaland will leave RB Salzburg for Juventus next month
* The news would come as a huge blow for Manchester United, who are also keen
* It has been written that he'll sign five-year deal worth £3m a season plus bonuses

Manchester United target Erling Braut Haaland has reportedly chosen his next move.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, speculation is growing over the in-demand Red Bull Salzburg striker's future.

And, according to reports in Italy, it is a move to Juventus that the 19-year-old has set his heart on.

The news would come as a huge blow to United, after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had confirmed the club were interested in Haaland come January and transfer season.

Tuttosport, though, report that AC Milan and Juventus were the two front-runners, and the latter have won the race for his signature.

Another Italian publication in Corriere dello Sport write that Juventus' interest ramped up after boss Maurizio Sarri told the club to 'go after' the youngster.

It has been reported that he will sign a five-year contract worth £3m a season plus bonuses.

Erling Braut Haaland is the most in-demand teenage striker in European football at the moment. Reports in Italy suggest that Haaland has chosen Juventus after pursuit from Maurizio Sarri

RB Leipzig are another club that were interested in Haaland, but one of the club's patrons Oliver Mintzlaff conceded that it is difficult to compete with the big boys.

'Yes, we met with him. We are interested in the player, [there is] great interest there, he told Sport1.

'It's not easy. There's Manchester United, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund and a few other clubs as well.'

Erling Haaland told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he DID want to join Man United at their December meeting... only for him to join Dortmund for just £17m after row over payments to Mino Raiola

* Erling Haaland met with Manchester United representatives back in December
* The 19-year-old reportedly told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he wanted to join the club
* However, United were not keen on dealing with the star's agent - Mino Raiola
* As a result, the Norway international utlimately ended up at Borussia Dortmund

Erling Haaland told Manchester United that he wanted to move to Old Trafford, only to change his mind just weeks later.

The Norwegian was one of the most sought after strikers in Europe last month following his incredible form for Red Bull Salzburg, both domestically and in the Champions League.

He held meetings with several clubs during December, including United in order to suss out which move he preferred.

According to reports, Erling Haaland told Manchester United that he wished to join the club. Haaland instead opted to join Borussia Dortmund when he left Red Bull Salzburg last month

And according to The Athletic, the 19-year-old told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward that he had his heart set on pulling on the Red Devils jersey.

Solskjaer, having worked with Haaland at Molde, was keen on a deal and United chief travelled to Salzburg on December 13 to meet the player and were convinced they had wrapped up the deal.

That never came to fruition however, with Haaland eventually opting for an £18million move to Borussia Dortmund, where he has thrived - with 11 goals in his first seven appearances.

It is also reported that United's lack of Champions League football this season - and potentially next - proved decisive.

The 19-year-old goal machine continued his rich vein of form with a match-winning brace against Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16 of the Champions League on Tuesday.

Haaland reportedly told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he had his heart set on moving to Old Trafford. Haaland has 11 goals in his first seven games in Germany, including a brace against PSG. United were reluctant to deal with Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, who represents Paul Pogba

United were also determined not to deal with the player's agent, Mino Raiola, who also represents Paul Pogba, and has become embroiled in a bitter feud with the club ever since.

He has been involved in a war of words with both Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville and Solskjaer this week after claiming that Pogba would be off this summer.

The agent called Neville a 'big know-how' after the former defender said that United should never do business with him again.

That came after Raiola had a dig at Solskjaer, tweeting just 17 minutes before United's kick off against Chelsea on Monday: 'Paul is Paul Pogba's. You cannot own a human being already for a long time in the UK or anywhere else.

'I hope Solskjaer doesn't want to suggest that Paul is his prisoner. But before Solskjaer makes comments about things I say, he should inform himself better about the content of what has been said.

'I am a free citizen who can think and express my thoughts. Until now I was maybe too nice to him. Solskjaer should just remember things that he said in summer to Paul.

'I think Solskjaer may be frustrated for different reasons and is mixing up some issues. I think Solskjaer has other things to worry about. At least, if I was him, I would.'

Neville, on Sky Sports for coverage of United's trip to Chelsea, said: 'It will end in Pogba leaving Manchester United.

'What the club need to do is make a stance on that agent. He has messed them around for years with Pogba and others.

'Why they allow themselves to be played I will never know. He is a serious thorn in the side for them.

United should stand strong and not do business with him and tell players if they are represented by him we won't do deals with you.

'Raiola is publicly trying to embarrass the club all the time. At the end of the day he is defending his player but what Solskjaer definitely wasn't was aggressive.

'He was saying they spent £90million on a player and they want him to stay at the club and play well.

'He wasn't claiming ownership but Raiola wants to create situations where Pogba is out of the club and Raiola wants his next pay day.

'He has made tens of millions off of him and will continue to do so. He is the golden egg of Mino.'

'He's a top boy and it's fantastic for him': Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists he is delighted for Erling Haaland after his blistering start at Borussia Dortmund... despite the striker snubbing chance to join him at Manchester United

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted he bears no grudges towards Erling Haaland
* The 19-year-old joined Borussia Dortmund over Manchester United in January
* Haaland has made a blistering start, scoring 11 times in just seven matches
* Solskjaer said: 'It's brilliant that Norway has a striker who can score goals again'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted he is happy for Erling Haaland following the Norwegian striker's blistering start to life at Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old has scored an astonishing 11 goals in just seven games for Dortmund after sealing his £17million switch from Red Bull Salzburg in January.

Solskjaer, who worked with Haaland during his time in charge of Molde, was desperate to recruit his former player last month for Manchester United but the striker opted to join Dortmund instead.

The United boss personally travelled to Salzburg in December after Haaland had told the club he wanted to join them.

Despite Haaland - who scored twice in Dortmund's 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday - making a U-turn after United had a row over payments to his agent Mino Raiola, Solskjaer insists he bears no grudges towards the player.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted he's delighted that Erling Haaland cannot stop scoring. Haaland has smashed in 11 goals in seven games since joining Borussia Dortmund last month

'I normally never comment on opposition players, but since I've had Erling, I'm just delighted for him,' Solskjaer said when talking about the teenage prodigy's current form.

'He's a top boy, an absolutely fantastic kid, who you want the best for. And for Norway it's brilliant that we have a striker who can score goals again.'

Solskjaer was less positive about Marcus Rashford after he admitted that the England star may not play again this season - and could even miss Euro 2020 this summer due to a troublesome back injury.

He added: 'I would hope he's playing this season. It will just be touch and go towards the end.

'Hopefully we can get through this tournament and prolong the season.

'It takes time, I'm not a doctor. I was hoping he would recover quicker than what it looks like he's going to be out for.

'Another few months definitely. If he's not fit enough he won't go (to the Euros).'

Manchester United 'offered THREE TIMES Erling Haaland's £17m release clause' to convince him to move from Salzburg in January... only for him to pick Borussia Dortmund instead

* Manchester United went to desperate lengths to try to sign Erling Haaland
* United offered Salzburg three times his release clause in bid to convince him
* Haaland joined Borussia Dortmund and already has 12 goals in eight games

Manchester United reportedly offered three times Erling Haaland's release clause in a desperate bid to convince him to join the club in January.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had worked with the teenage sensation during his time at Molde, made the striker a priority signing in the winter window and even flew out to Salzburg to hold meetings with the player about a possible move.

Haaland told United he had his heart set on joining only to change his mind at the last minute to instead sign for Borussia Dortmund in a £17million deal.

Sportbild now claim that United put forward a package in the region of £50m in an attempt to persuade Red Bull Salzburg to push the player towards Old Trafford.

Haaland, who has since made a blistering start to his Dortmund career, scoring 12 times in his first eight appearances for the club, was available for just £17m due to his release clause.

However, United were willing to pay through the nose and above market value to sign Haaland, who had been one of Europe's most sought-after talents.

Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund said that United were 'very interested' but failed to reveal explicit details of their offer.

As Sportsmail revealed last month, United attempted to bypass agent Mino Raiola and strike a deal with the forward's father, former Leeds midfielder Alf Inge Haaland, who also represents his son.

However, United were forced to pull out of the race after failing to meet Raiola and Haaland Snr's demands with both wanting a significant share of the future sales value, meaning they would control his next transfer - something the club were reticent to sanction.

Man United offered £33m over Erling Haaland's release clause in desperate bid to sign him. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made Haaland a priority signing for United in January transfer window. United pulled out of race to sign Haaland due to demands from his agent Mino Raiola. The striker joined Dortmund instead and has made a blistering start to life in Germany

Raiola, who also represents Paul Pogba and appears to have a strained relationship with United, hit out at the club after they failed to sign his client Haaland.

'I do not know if Manchester United are briefing this but if they are then they are covering their own loss and that I find strange and disappointing,' Raiola told The Telegraph back in December.

'There was no fall-out between me and (United executive vice-chairman) Ed Woodward. It was just a normal negotiation and the player has chosen a different path. If they want to blame someone then, fine, blame me but the player is happy. He has made his choice and we went through a normal process.'

Sportbild's report added that Haaland would have not joined Dortmund if he made a decision based on financial factors.

The Norway international was sold by the project Dortmund offered, which he felt no other interested club could rival.
