Default Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was knocked back by Cambridge under two years ago but stands on the brink of a huge move to Manchester United… the Crystal Palace star is ready for another jump

* Aaron Wan-Bissaka's meteoric rise may continue with a Manchester United move
* Less than two years ago he was knocked back while on trial at Cambridge United
* Roy Hodgson moved him to right back in training and uncovered a superstar
* The Crystal Palace starlet would handle a big move to Old Trafford with ease

From being knocked back by Cambridge United to joining Manchester United for a world record fee for a full-back inside two years.

It would complete a remarkable journey for Aaron Wan-Bissaka if the latter, a move United are in talks with Crystal Palace to try and make happen, materialises.

A remarkable journey that, for some youngsters might be too big a leap to get their heads around.

Certainly not for Crystal Palace's brilliant young right back Wan-Bissaka, though.

Those familiar with the 21 year-old know exactly why his incredible rise has been possible and it is not only for his considerable talent.

Of course, that has played a huge part in him emerging as the Premier League's and one of Europe's best-performing right backs.

But to overcome all the obstacles and challenges he has faced in such a short time – and the biggest could be yet to come at Old Trafford - requires the sort of character Wan-Bissaka possesses.

Ask those close to him and they describe the south Londoner as someone totally unfazed and unaffected by all that is going on around him. Unassuming is another word that crops up.

He is also described as someone who doesn't overthink things and, as he is not following a calculated, pre-planned journey through football, he is able to take any changes plus all the ups and the downs, in his stride.

In the high-pressure world of professional football these are all extremely positive character traits to have.

They allow Wan-Bissaka to step back and distance himself from the hype and fuss that surrounds top level football while others might wilt having found themselves unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight like he has been during the last 18 months.

And with his career path so far being a far from conventional one they have also helped him adapt to every step along the way.

England Under-21 defender Wan-Bissaka joined Palace as a prolific, Thierry Henry-idolising striker before dropping back to become a right winger.

Before his big Palace breakthrough he went on trial at Cambridge United ahead of a potential loan move only for then boss Shaun Derry to decide he was not yet ready to be a League Two right-winger.

Then came the training session and positional switch that changed everything, when he was tried at right-back, impressed up against Wilfried Zaha and Eagles boss Roy Hodgson realised he had unearthed a gem and said no when Wan-Bissaka wanted to go out on loan in January 2018.

Wan-Bissaka was not overly delighted at being pushed back at the time, so the story goes, though you would never know by the way he knuckled down and got on with learning his new role while playing for Palace's Under-23s.

'No it wasn't [a hard process to become a first-team right back],' he said. 'I don't think it was a big difference. It was just more defending that I had to add to my game and I like defending. Even when I was a winger I liked defending. They say I have got long legs so that's an advantage for me I use.'

Right back was how he forced his way into the Palace team in February 2018 when Hodgson's squad was hit by an injury crisis.

Wan-Bissaka was moved to right back during training and impressed against Wilfried Zaha. He boasted superb defensive stats last season, attracting interest from the likes of United

His first three games were against Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea. There were nerves understandably but also a calmness of mind to ensure he got his job done and justified Hodgson's decision to put his faith in him.

Stepping up and tougher tests come with the territory he accepted. Moving to Manchester United would be handled with a similar unflappable approach by Wan-Bissaka.

He hasn't looked back and in the 43 appearances that have followed his Premier League baptism of fire and shown why United are determined to strike a deal with Palace that could be worth up to £60m.

Last season Wan-Bissaka made the most clearances and interceptions, won the most tackles, had the highest tackle success and completed the most take-ons of all the Premier League's full backs.

Also, no defender in Europe's top five leagues won more than his 129 tackles.

The demands of the modern day full-back mean Wan-Bissaka will have to show he can be just effective going forward as his career progresses.

If his approach to the challenges he has faced so far in his fledgling career is anything to go by, he will deal with any new ones with minimal fuss too.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka 'favours summer switch to Manchester United' but Crystal Palace are holding out for at least £50m for highly-rated full-back

* Manchester United are continuing to pursue deal to bring in Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* The player is reported to favour a move to Old Trafford from Crystal Palace
* Palace will not sell for less than £50million but value full back closer to £70m

Aaron Wan-Bissaka wants to move to Manchester United this summer but Crystal Palace are continuing to play hardball over his valuation.

Sportsmail revealed last week that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his heart set on the Palace right back but saw the club's initial £40million bid rejected by the Eagles.

Now according to Sky Sports, the player remains keen to make the summer switch to Old Trafford but has not put in a transfer request to force a move.

The report states that Solskjaer and United are looking to return with an improved offer for the player as they are determined to land him.

Palace will not sell for less than £50m but their valuation of the 21-year-old is closer to £70m.

The south London club are in the driving seat as they are under no pressure to cash in on one of their prized assets.

Crystal Palace right back Aaron Wan-Bissaka wants to join Manchester United this summer. The England U21 star saw United's first bid of £40m rejected as Palace want closer to £70m

Wan-Bissaka is under contract with Palace until 2022 and so only a sizeable fee will seal a move away following a strong campaign.

United want a fresh face to come in at right back with long-serving winger-turned-defender Antonio Valencia leaving. The club also want to cash in on Matteo Darmian.

Paris Saint-Germain's Thomas Meunier represents an alternative option to Wan-Bissaka but United are keen to bring in homegrown talent this summer as Solskjaer overhauls the squad.

The Old Trafford side have already recruited Welsh winger Daniel James from Swansea in an £18m deal.

Crystal Palace demand £45m up front from Manchester United plus £5m in add-ons for Aaron Wan-Bissaka after first bid included £15m in bonuses

* Manchester United will have to up their offer to £50m to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* The Premier League clubs will continue talks to try and reach common ground
* United have already had initial bid of £35m with £15m of add-ons turned down
* Wan-Bissaka told Palace he's keen to seize opportunity to move to Old Trafford

Manchester United will have to up their offer to £45millon plus £5m in add-ons to land Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Crystal Palace are digging their heels in after rejecting United’s opening attempt to prise away their talented right back Wan-Bissaka.

The south Londoners snubbed United’s initial offer of £35m plus £15m in bonus payments for Wan-Bissaka, one of their prized assets.

Palace were unimpressed by the add-ons and the likelihood of enough of them being achieved to reach the total package of £50m.

Wan-Bissaka has informed Palace he is keen to seize the opportunity to move to Old Trafford and Palace won’t stand in his way.

At the same time, they want what they consider market value for their academy product and a much bigger fee up front with less of the deal dependent on Wan-Bissaka’s future achievements.

Manchester United and Crystal Palace will hold more talks on Monday over Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Palace are sticking to their demands for a guaranteed £50m for the promising young defender

Wan-Bissaka is currently away with England’s Under-21s, who begin their European Championship campaign against France on Tuesday.

The two clubs, meanwhile, will continue talks in their attempts to reach common ground and agree a deal for the defender whose current Palace contract runs until 2022.

Palace have begun drawing up contingency plans to replace Wan-Bissaka, with Norwich's Max Aarons and Atalanta's Timothy Castagne on their radar.

MU Naikkan Tawaran untuk Wan-Bissaka, tapi Ditolak Lagi
Okdwitya Karina Sari - detikSport

Manchester United still believe they can get Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal over the line despite not agreeing fee yet with Crystal Palace

* Manchester United want to secure Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka
* Talks are ongoing between the clubs and United are optimistic over deal
* Palace's 21-year-old is highly rated and Eagles are expected to get £42million

Manchester United are continuing their push to sign Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Having so far only brought in Daniel James from Swansea, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are looking to kick-start their summer rebuild by signing the talented 21-year-old right-back.

It is understood that talks between United and Palace continue after Wan-Bissaka returned from the Under-21 European Championship following England's group-stage exit.

Manchester United are still engaging in talks with Crystal Palace over Aaron Wan-Bissaka

There is a belief within Old Trafford that a deal can be struck with Palace for their academy graduate for around £42million.

Leicester defender Harry Maguire is another player interesting United as they look to improve in central defence, while it is understood that Sporting's Bruno Fernandes is among the rated midfielders.

The Portugal international enjoyed an outstanding season at the Lisbon club, where a number of players are due to return to pre-season on Wednesday.

Fernandes, though, is currently on holiday in Dubai after helping his country win the Nations League. Newcastle man Sean Longstaff is another player on United's radar.

Ander Herrera's exit has left United with a hole in midfield, while Paul Pogba is keen to get a 'new challenge somewhere else' if possible.

Romelu Lukaku is another big-name player open to an exit, but it is understood that Inter Milan have yet to make a serious offer.

Questions also remain over the future of the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian.

Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza have denied reports that youngster Mateo Mejia has left the club for United.

A statement from the Spanish club read: 'Real Zaragoza has not reached any agreement for the transfer of this player to Manchester United.'

Aaron Wan-Bissaka hits the jackpot! Crystal Palace star to bag 1,000 PER CENT pay rise at Manchester United when he pens £80,000-a-week deal

* Aaron Wan-Bissaka is close to a move from Crystal Palace to Manchester United
* Defender will scoop a 1,000 per cent pay rise when he completes dream move
* He will earn up to £80,000 a week – a huge leap from his current £8,000-a-week deal at Crystal Palace

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will scoop a whopping 1,000 per cent pay rise when he completes his dream move to Manchester United this week.

The Crystal Palace right back travelled north on Wednesday night for the first part of his medical and the transfer is expected to be ratified in the next 24 hours.

United claim they have agreed a deal worth up to £50million for Wan-Bissaka, but sources insist the deal is closer to the £60m mark with incentives included.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka will scoop a 1,000 per cent pay rise when he joins Manchester United

Either way, it makes Wan-Bissaka one of the world's most expensive defenders. The 21-year-old will pen a deal worth up to £80,000 a week – an incredible leap from his £8,000-a-week pay at Selhurst Park.

Negotiations between the two clubs included a proposal from Palace to reduce or remove the 25 per cent sell-on clause that United secured when they sold Wilfried Zaha back to the London club, but the clause remains unchanged.

Zaha wishes to leave to play in the Champions League, but Palace have been clear they would not sell both Zaha and Wan-Bissaka this summer. Arsenal want Zaha, but they are unlikely to meet Palace's £80m valuation.
