Talking Top 15 Mascots in English Soccer

Time to focus on the mascots rather than the players. They have a vital part to play in getting the fans in the mood to support their team. Mascots have been known to get into trouble and getting overly excited. The picture above shows them preparing to race each other in the Mascot Grand National.

1.
Cyril the Swan (Swansea)
Swansea City's mascot is one of the most popular, or notorious, mascots out there. Has been voted best mascot by readers of the Match Of The Day magazine, but he has been in hot water on a number of occasions.
Cyril has been in trouble with police on a number of occasions. A highlight included removing the head of Millwall's mascot and drop-kicking it.

2.
Billy the Badger (Fulham)
Billy the Badger has been known to get carried away with his celebrations and tactics to get the crowd supporting the team. He has been known to break dance to delay the start of a second half of a match. This led to him being led off the pitch by referee Chris Foy.
Billy also attempted to cheer Avram Grant up. The manager had been in charge of Chelsea at the time, Billy decided he didn't look too happy, so decided to give him a hug.

3. Chaddy the Owl (Oldham)

The Oldham mascot is a two-time winner of the Mascot Grand National. That is of course a race among various mascots. However, Chaddy is not a 100 percent good mascot; he has also been in trouble.
Most famously, this included having a fight with the Blackpool mascot during a match. Chaddy pulled of the boots of Bloomfield Bear and hurled them into the crowd.

4. Wolfie (Wolves)
Wolfie is another mascot that enjoys fighting. In one game against Bristol City, he thought it would good fun to start something. Bristol City had two pig mascots and Wolfie decided to take them both on. Punches were thrown. Then another mascot came in to break the whole thing up.

5.
Rammie (Derby)
The Derby County mascot is one of the better behaved club mascots. Rammie's claim to fame is being the first full-time mascot in British football. Rammie is a very popular figure with Derby County fans.

6.
Deepdale Duck (Preston)
This duck holds the record for being the first mascot to have been sent off. He has created quite a reputation for himself. So much so that clubs have tried to have him banned from football grounds. The Preston mascot has the ability to wind anyone up and possibly incite riots.

7.
World Cup Willie
This was the first mascot of a major sporting event. Not quite in the style of a current mascot. Instead, Willie was a cartoon that was added to merchandise.

8.
Hercules the Lion (Aston Villa)
Gavin Lucas in the suit lost his job through his on the field antics. He grabbed Debbie Robins around her waist and tried it on in front of everyone. The mascot thought it was a bit of harmless fun. Aston Villa didn't agree and sacked him.

9.
Gunnersaurus Rex (Arsenal)
Here is the lovable dinosaur to inspire Arsenal to victory. He is always on hand to celebrate goals and get the team ready to support the team.

10.
Captain Canary (Norwich)
What is not to love about Captain Canary. The giant bird has been doing a good job over the last few seasons to inspire the Canaries to victory. Like the Norwich City squad, he is proving he is not out of place in the Premier League.

Quote:
Selanjutnya maskot kebanggan kita semua. Eng .. Ing .. Eng ..

11.
Fred the Red (Manchester United)
The way that Manchester United have kept winning over the years. They must have some kind of secret weapon besides Sir Alex Ferguson. Of course, they have the devil on their side pretending to be a mascot. He he is greeting Ferguson on another job well done.

12.
Herbie the Hammer (West Ham)
No wonder West Ham are doing so well this season in the Championship. Check out the mascot. Is it just me or does he have a bit of Iron Man about him? Not much of a leap when you consider that West Ham are often called Hammers or Irons.

13.
Samson (Sunderland)
What is it that they say about black cats? Are they supposed to be good or bad luck? Either way, Sunderland are on a great run of form as they march up the Premier League. Saturday's 4-0 defeat was a set-back. But with Martin O'Neill and this black cat cheering them on, they will soon be back to winning ways.

14.
Stamford the Lion (Chelsea)
With Chelsea in a battle for fourth place at the moment, maybe this lion is not as effective as he once was. That being said, if Andre Villas-Boas can get his team firing then this lion may roar again.

15.
Moonchester (Manchester City)
Manchester City have cranked things up a notch this season. They are really having a go at Manchester United for the Premier League title. Roberto Mancini is getting a lot of credit, but never underplay the role a mascot can play. A cheeky mascot like this can get the fans behind the team.
