Manchester United and Dean Henderson 'keen to sort out new contract before keeper returns to Premier League new boys Sheffield United on loan this season'

* Manchester United are set to 'offer goalkeeper Dean Henderson a new contract'
* The 22-year-old will then return to Sheffield United on loan for the new season
* Henderson has impressed for the Blades and on international duty with England
* He saved a penalty during the Young Lions 2-1 defeat by France on Tuesday

Manchester United will reportedly offer England Under 21 international Dean Henderson a new contract before he is returned to newly promoted Sheffield United on loan.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper played an integral role during the Blades promotion push last season and has continued his fine form into this summer's Under 21 European Championships.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already faced with the prospect of trying to tie down No 1 shot stopper David de Gea to a contract beyond the 12 months left on his present deal, but he is keen to ensure the club do not lose a grip of Henderson.

The Mirror report that the Red Devils will sort out Henderson's contract situation and offer him a new deal before he returns to Yorkshire for the new Premier League season.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder expressed his delight that the English prospect will be returning to Bramall Lane.

He told the Mirror: 'Dean made it clear to us that he has a very strong interest in coming back to Bramall Lane, and Manchester United are happy to go along with that.

'He wants his United contract sorted out first of all but, in terms of putting another temporary deal in place, I think we're in a good place with that one.

'United are pleased with what happened when he came here, with the way his game developed and the way he progressed over the course of the year.

'He's rated very highly at Old Trafford and you can understand why. Dean was outstanding for us last season and being able to bring him back again for another year would be brilliant.'

Manchester United will 'offer Dean Henderson a new deal' before returning to Sheffield United. Henderson played a key role during Sheffield United's promotion campaign last season

Henderson is Aidy Boothroyd's first-choice goalkeeper in Italy at the European Championships and he impressed in the Young Lions opening defeat by France.

He saved a penalty by Lyon forward Moussa Dembele in the first half, before England took a deserved lead through Phil Foden.

Henderson saw another spot-kick crash against his goal-post, while there was little he could do to prevent France's late comeback as Jonathan Ikone and and an Aaron Wan-Bissaka own goal resulted in a costly defeat.

Dean Henderson 'demands £75,000 a-week' to sign new Manchester United contract as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer unveils new goalkeeper coach

* Dean Henderson is reportedly eyeing a new deal that would triple his wages
* England Under 21 goalkeeper made a howler in defeat by Romania on Friday
* He is confident that his wish to treble his wages will be met at Old Trafford

Dean Henderson has reportedly demanded an eye-watering new £75,000-a-week deal at Manchester United.

The England Under 21 goalkeeper is said to be confident that his wish to treble his wages will be met.

Henderson's howler on Friday night saw the Under 21s dumped out of the European Championship in a 4-2 defeat by Romania.

Dean Henderson has reportedly demanded a new £75,000-a-week deal at Manchester United

And now he wants a sign of commitment from United, report The Sun.

Henderson joined Old Trafford from Carlisle United eight years ago and is seen by Gareth Southgate as a potential rival for Jordan Pickford's No 1 shirt.

He is likely to remain on loan at Sheffield United this season after helping the Blades return to the Premier League.

Henderson has a year left on his current £25,000 per week deal and United have a further 12 – month option.

It comes after United confirmed the return of goalkeeper coach Richard Hartis.

Hartis worked with the academy and was also part of Sir Alex Ferguson's backroom team for decade.

He returns as Senior Goalkeeping Coach - but Emilio Alvarez, who was brought in by former boss Jose Mourinho, will remain.

'Richard is a fantastic goalkeeping coach and has a proven track record of developing goalkeepers for winning teams,' Solskjaer said.

Dean Henderson signs new three-year contract at Manchester United... then heads straight back out on loan to Sheffield United to kick-start his Premier League career

* Sheffield United have announced the return of Dean Henderson on loan
* The 22-year-old also signed a new three-year contract with Manchester United
* Henderson featured in each of the Blades 46 Championship matches last season

Sheffield United have announced the return of Dean Henderson on loan from Manchester United after the 22-year-old signed a new three-year deal at Old Trafford.

Henderson was a key figure during the Blades promotion campaign last season, appearing in each of their 46 Championship matches.

The highly rated England Under-21 international, who has been with United since the age of 14, signed a new deal until 2022, with the option of a further year.

Dean Henderson has signed a new deal with Man United before returning to Sheffield United. The 22-year-old featured in each of the Blades 46 Championship matches last season

Henderson said: 'The club has been amazing in designing an individual pathway to aid my development which will enable me to reach my potential and perform at the highest level possible.

'Signing this contract is such a proud moment for myself and my family; I've worked so hard to reach this point and I want to do everything I can to repay the faith the club has shown in me.

'I am looking forward to being back at Bramall Lane, the opportunity to be reunited with the coaches and play in front of the amazing fans again is one that I am relishing. I cannot wait to enjoy a full season of Premier League football which I know will be hugely beneficial for my career.'

The Blades confirmed Henderson's return on Twitter, shortly after announcing the signing of Ben Osborn from Nottingham Forest.

Dean Henderson: 'Kiper' MU yang Hadiahi Liverpool Tiga Poin
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detikSport

Liverpool mengalahkan Sheffield United berkat blunder kiper Dean Henderson.

Liverpool masih menjaga kesempurnaannya hingga pekan ketujuh.

Manchester United set to spark £20m bidding war for young keeper Dean Henderson after tying David de Gea to a new long-term contract

* Manchester United agreed a contract extension with keeper David de Gea
* That means Dean Henderson could leave next summer for a fee of £20million
* Keeper is on loan at Sheffield United and made an error in defeat by Liverpool

Manchester United are ready to start a bidding war for young keeper Dean Henderson and hope he will fetch up to £20million, according to The Sun.

The 22-year-old has impressed on loan at Sheffield United, having helped the Blades to Championship promotion last season.

However, while he hopes to become Manchester United No 1, a recent long-term extension handed to David de Gea means he may be forced to go elsewhere for first-team football.

Dean Henderson could be heading out of the door at Old Trafford for a fee of £20million

Henderson is determined to become a Premier League regular and represent England, but may opt to do that away from his boyhood club.

He did, however, commit a costly error for Sheffield United in defeat by Liverpool, letting Gerginio Wijnaldum's innocuous volley slip through his legs for the only goal of the game.

In the aftermath, boss Chris Wilder refused to defend his charge, saying: 'I'm not bothered how people feel. This is a real tough sport. I'm certainly not going to pt my arm around him and rub his head.

'We set a high bar. It always amazes me when pundits talk about not criticising players in the press.

'This game has been beamed around the world. There's no hiding place.'

‘He has all the physical attributes you need… plus that cockiness and confidence': Ex-Man United coach Eric Steele reveals Dean Henderson is ready to challenge David de Gea for No 1 spot after Sheffield United loan

* The 22-year-old shot stopper is enjoying his second spell on loan at Bramall lane
* Dean Henderson's form has even earned him a call up from Gareth Southgate
* Ex Manchester United goalkeeping coach Eric Steele has lauded his abilities

Former Manchester United goalkeeping coach Eric Steele has tipped Sheffield United loanee Dean Henderson to challenge for the number one spot at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old was pivotal in helping the Blades gain promotion from the Championship last season and has kept three clean sheets this year - earning himself an England call up.

And Steele, who left United after David Moyes took over as manager in 2013, thinks the youngster has what it takes to succeed at one of the world's biggest clubs.

Eric Steele has tipped Sheffield United's Dean Henderson to challenge de Gea at Old Trafford. Henderson's form has even earned him a call up from Gareth Southgate to the England squad

'He has all the physical attributes you need,' Steele told The Athletic. 'Plus that cockiness and confidence about him. He sees himself as the biggest challenger to David De Gea at Manchester United and I love that. Even though he is not at the club right now.

'I have no problems with that. He is doing the right thing and getting experience at a good club. He is still a young keeper. Peter Schmeichel didn't come to Old Trafford until he was 28. David De Gea was the exception at 19 or 20. I have said this to Dean privately. He is still a young keeper.'

Henderson's form for Chris Wilder's side saw him called up for international duty, earning a spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the ongoing Euro 2020 qualifiers, following the withdrawal of Tom Heaton due to injury.

The Whitehaven-born star was also loaned to Sheffield United last season from Old Trafford, keeping 21 clean sheets in 46 games.

Steele said Henderson knows his parent club are keeping an eye on him.

'Knowing Dean as I do, what he will be thinking is, 'Richard Hartis (Manchester United's senior goalkeeping coach) and Ole Gunnar (Solskjaer), please keep sending your scouts to Sheffield United.

'He knows he is being watched,' the 65-year-old said.

United's current number one David de Gea has performed under-par in his side's torrid start to the Premier League season, keeping just two clean sheets in eight games.

However, the Spaniard signed a new four-year deal last month and United also have strong understudies in Argentina keeper Sergio Romero and seasoned veteran Lee Grant, but Steele insists Henderson 'knows what is required'.

'But Richard Hartis will be asking, 'Who is going to challenge De Gea?' I am sure Dean will be thinking he can be the number one at Manchester United,' he added.

Henderson previously earned plaudits on loan at Stockport, Grimsby and Shrewsbury and this season has a save rate of 76.67%, higher than De Gea.

LOAN WATCH: CLEAN SHEET FOR HENDERSON

It was a great weekend for three of Manchester United’s on-loan players, as their sides recorded important wins in their various leagues.

Dean Henderson kept a fifth clean sheet of the season, as Sheffield United dispatched Burnley 3-0 to move up to sixth place in the Premier League table.

The Blades struck three times in the first half at Bramall Lane to blow Sean Dyche’s side away, with John Lundstram netting a brace and John Fleck scoring his first top-flight goal.

In Italy, Chris Smalling’s Roma powered to a third consecutive win in Serie A, with goals from Nicolo Zaniolo and Jordan Veretout helping the Giallorossi to a 2-1 home victory over Napoli.

The centre-back played the full 90 minutes, with his personal highlight being an acrobatic goalline clearance to keep out Di Lorenzo's header from a free-kick when the score was still 1-0. Although Arkadiusz Milik did eventually pull one back for Napoli with 20 minutes to play, the capital club held out and are now third in Serie A.

In League Two, George Tanner's Morecambe are still occupying the only relegation place but secured an important 1-0 win at home to Leyton Orient, thanks to A-Jay Leitch-Smith's 74th-minute goal.

The United right-back helped The Shrimps to keep their third clean sheet of the campaign and they are now level on points with Stevenage in 23rd place.

Elsewhere in the Football League, Kieran O’Hara was in goal as Burton Albion battled to a 2-2 draw at Doncaster Rovers. Goals from David Templeton and Lucas Akins twice put the Brewers in front, but the home side fought back to secure a point that leaves Burton 13th in League One, albeit with games in hand on many of the teams above them.

Ethan Hamilton missed Southend’s 1-0 defeat at Sunderland through suspension, while Cameron Borthwick-Jackson was an unused substitute in Tranmere’s 3-1 win at MK Dons.

In Scotland, there was heartbreak for Joel Castro Pereira as his Hearts side were beaten 3-0 by Rangers in the Betfred Cup semi-final. Filip Helander finished smartly past Pereira to give the Gers a half-time lead, before Alfredo Morelos capped off the win with a second-half double.

Meanwhile, in Norway, Aidan Barlow scored for Tromso in their 3-2 loss at Sarpsborg.

Finally, Alex Fotijcek was in goal as non-league Stalybridge Celtic were defeated 1-0 at Radcliffe Borough.

Uncapped goalkeeper Dean Henderson has been called into the England squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Montenegro and Kosovo, with injured pair Tom Heaton and Ross Barkley dropping out.

Chelsea midfielder Barkley had been a doubt with an ankle injury while Aston Villa keeper Heaton is battling a calf problem.

Henderson, on loan at Sheffield United from Manchester United, has come in for Heaton but there are no plans to replace Barkley.

Heaton missed Sunday's 2-1 defeat at Wolves after injuring his calf in training while Barkley has sat out Chelsea's last six games.

An FA statement read: 'Ross Barkley and Tom Heaton have been ruled out of England's forthcoming UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers through injury.

'Henderson will arrive at St George's Park on Monday as England's now 26-man squad begin preparations for their final fixtures of 2019.'

Henderson has helped the promoted Blades to fifth in the Premier League after Saturday's 1-1 draw at Tottenham.

The 22-year-old also replaced Heaton in last month's squad after the Villa man pulled out.

England host Montenegro at Wembley on Thursday, where a win would book their spot at next summer's tournament.

Sheffield United already in talks with Manchester United to take Dean Henderson on loan for third season as Chris Wilder hails 'outstanding' keeper

* On-loan keeper from Manchester United also made a series of important stops
* Blades have already opened talks with United to take Henderson for third season
* He helped the club win promotion from the Championship last season
* And Henderson has been excellent as they've defied odds in the top flight

Sheffield United have already opened negotiations with Manchester United to take goalkeeper Dean Henderson on loan for a third time.

Henderson continues to impress as Sheffield United, promoted into the Premier League last season, defy all expectations to sit seventh in the table.

The 22-year-old was excellent again in Tuesday night's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, saving a first-half penalty from Gabriel Jesus and making several other important saves.

United manager Chris Wilder described Henderson's performance as 'outstanding' and revealed that efforts to keep him for a third season have already started.

Henderson was an ever-present in the Championship as the Blades won promotion during his first season on loan from United in 2018-19.

He has played 23 of United's 24 games in the Premier League this season, the one exception being the visit of his parent club, and has kept eight clean sheets.

Henderson declared himself ready to play for Manchester United's first team last summer but is unlikely to dislodge David de Gea so long as the Spaniard is at Old Trafford.

However, his form for Sheffield United this season has put him in contention for a maiden England cap after he was called up in October to replace the injured Tom Heaton.

'He wants to play first-team football,' Wilder said on Tuesday night. 'Maybe I shouldn't be saying this, but I'm not so sure he'll play back-up to anybody. Maybe he'll come out and say it.

'If there's a decision for Manchester United, for him to come out to us for another year, we'll gladly take that up.

'We've already started talking with them but obviously he's their player.

'That decision on behalf of Manchester United and the player, but he's been outstanding for us.'
