Re: Ravel Morrison
Not fit for West Ham but Morrison joins QPR! Midfielder set for Loftus Road loan
Ravel Morrison will complete a loan move to QPR in the next 24 hours after Sam Allardyce revealed the midfielder is refusing to play for West Ham due to a ‘niggling’ injury. Remarkably, Morrison is in line to feature in the QPR squad to take on Reading this Sunday despite declaring himself unfit to turn out for West Ham. Allardyce professed to be in the dark about Morrison’s impending move, but the midfielder is joining on three-month loan, with West Ham having the option of recalling him within the first 30 days. And his manager raised serious questions about the 21-year-old’s commitment to the Hammers’ cause. Not operating at full capacity: Ravel Morrison (left) has been troubled by a groin injury Discussing Morrison’s recent lack of playing time, Allardyce said: ‘Ravel is still complaining about a niggling groin problem. Listening to our medical team, there is no problem if he wants to carry on. He says he feels it occasionally and instead of gritting your teeth and getting on with it... he is not the type. ‘Lots of players throughout the country will be playing with a similar type of injury that the medical teams say, “You can carry on, it is not a problem”.’ If Morrison plays for QPR at the weekend after his reluctance to put his body on the line at Upton Park, questions will inevitably be asked about his West Ham future. The midfielder has not played since the second leg of West Ham’s Capital One Cup semi-final drubbing at the hands of Manchester City three weeks ago. It now seems he is on his way out of Upton Park at least in the short term, and a permanent departure in the summer cannot be ruled out. Despite not feeling fit enough to turn out for West Ham, Morrison has refused a hernia operation to cure his groin problem. Such surgery would scupper his move across London to QPR. Allardyce said: ‘He has to decide whether he’s going for a hernia operation. At the moment he doesn’t need it.’ Morrison’s short career has been full of controversy. He was shown the door at Old Trafford by Sir Alex Ferguson, despite the legendary manager saying he was the best 14-year-old player he had ever seen. Allardyce took a chance on the gifted youngster despite a past which includes convictions for witness intimidation and criminal damage. Morrison shone for West Ham earlier in the current campaign, but struggled to maintain that form. Now, it seems the ‘severe competition’ for places at West Ham, coupled with his unwillingness to play through his groin issue means, in the short term at least, he is surplus to requirements at Upton Park. It remains to be seen whether Harry Redknapp can extract consistent performances from the talented but troubled midfielder. Meanwhile, Allardyce praised his defence after another clean sheet in the victory over Aston Villa. The Hammers ran out 2-0 winners at Villa Park - which followed a 2-0 triumph over Swansea - and they have now kept 12 clean sheets in the league this season, a record no other side has bettered. Allardyce said ahead of Tuesday's match against Norwich: 'Twelve clean sheets and nobody bettering that is a fantastic base to build from. 'First and foremost we have to maintain our defensive stability and if we do that we'll have a great chance of gaining another three points.' Allardyce says his team are in a 'rich vein of form' as they face another massive game against Norwich at Upton Park on Tuesday, adding: 'We're in a rich vein of form at the minute which has been helped by players coming back into the squad. 'Every game recently has been massive in terms of trying to get the team in a better position in the league. 'Everybody's picking points up against teams where it's not expected at times. Norwich at Man City, Fulham at Man Utd, us at Chelsea...' The Hammers have received a boost in midfield with the news that Mohamed Diame and Joe Cole are back in the squad. Code:

Re: Ravel Morrison
Morrison set for QPR debut against Charlton as West Ham midfielder delays hernia operation to join Redknapp's side on loan
Ravel Morrison is to delay the prospect of a hernia operation to help Queens Park Rangers' promotion charge. QPR are expected to announce the England Under-21 international's capture on Wednesday and he is set to make his debut away at Charlton on Saturday. The West Ham forward has been struggling with a groin problem in recent weeks and is likely to need surgery to cure the problem. On the move: West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison is set to complete a temporary switch to QPR on Wednesday Morrison, 21, had pondered having the procedure as soon as possible, but he is set to postpone the operation to play in Harry Redknapp side's final games of the season. While the niggling injury is causing him some discomfort, it will not prevent him from playing a full part in QPR's run in. Morrison's 93-day loan move to QPR has been in the offing for weeks, but the Championship club have delayed it to ensure he is available for the play-off final should they fail to secure automatic promotion. Boost: QPR boss Redknapp has ensured that Morrison will be eligible for the Championship play-off final should his side make it to Wembley Code:

Re: Ravel Morrison
Welcome to QPR, I'm the boss around here! Barton upends Morrison in first session following loan move from West Ham
West Ham's Ravel Morrison has joined Queens Park Rangers on a 93-day emergency loan - and it hasn't take long for Joey Barton to make an impression on the new boy. The Scouse schemer left his new team-mate in a heap during his first training session with the R's. Attempting to tackle the England Under-21 star, Barton clipped his standing leg and sent him crashing to the turf. He did, though, help young Morrison back to his feet with no sign of any damage. Just as well, for Barton is currently serving a two-match suspension and Morrison is expected to take his place in the side for Saturday's trip to Charlton Athletic. His move to Loftus Road was confirmed on Wednesday with Morrison set to delay hernia surgery in a bid to aid his new club's promotion push; they are four points adrift of an automatic berth. A clause, however, has been included in the deal which would allow the Premier League club to recall the 21-year-old after 28 days of his stay in West London. Were Morrison to remain for the full term, the deal has been structured to allow him to play in the Championship play-offs. And Morrison, who will wear the No.4 shirt, said: 'I just want to help QPR get to the Premier League – that’s my only objective during my time here. ‘If we manage to do that, it would be great for everybody connected with the club.’ QPR boss Harry Redknapp added: 'Ravel is fit and ready to play and I'm hoping he can come in and make an impact. 'He's got fantastic ability. If we can get the best out of him he could make a big difference.' Morrison had appeared 21 times for the Hammers this season, scoring five goals, but his departure was expected amid January talk of a loan move to Fulham. Code:

Re: Ravel Morrison
Ravel Morrison has the class of Gareth Bale but his attitude is holding back his talent
* Harry Redknapp's latest book, A Man Walks On To a Pitch, is being serialised by Sportsmail this week * Redknapp thinks Ravel Morrison is abright talent in English football * Sir Alex Ferguson likened him to Paul Scholes at Manchester United * The 21-year-old's attitude though is holding back his talent * Morrison played under Redknapp on loan at QPR last season I had Ravel Morrison at QPR last season. Sir Alex Ferguson said he was the most naturally gifted player he had seen at Manchester United since Paul Scholes - and then sold him because he could do nothing with him. He’d been at West Ham, scored one of the goals of the season against Tottenham but they, too, found it hard to control him. He’d already had one loan spell at Birmingham City, but ended up with me. The kid can really play. He goes past people and makes them look silly. He’s like the strolling England player Alan Hudson in the 1970s. He doesn’t run, he glides. Sir Alex Ferguson has likened Ravel Morrison (right) to Manchester United legend Paul Scholes in the past Morrison (right) played under Harry Redknapp last season while on loan at QPR in the Championship Morrison (left) is currently out on loan at Championship side Cardiff City By the time we came to the end of the season, though, he couldn’t get in our starting line-up. There was one game last season when we’d lost confidence and were losing. I asked him to change his position, to play on the left. His face fell into a petulant pout. ‘I pulled him away from the rest, took him outside and explained as patiently as the time allowed. ‘Ravel, we are losing the f****** game,’ I said. ‘I just want you to play there and do a job for the team. We have to win the game. It’s not about you, OK? It’s about the team. ‘People look at your face in there when I’ve asked you to do something, and they will all go away and think you are a big-headed bastard, because your attitude stinks. That’s what people say about you.’ Second half he was absolutely different class. He ran the game, everything good we did came from him and we were all watching it thinking, ‘‘What a talent’’. You looked at that performance and thought he could get us promoted on his own if he put his mind to it. It was like watching a player with Gareth Bale’s class in the Championship. Lee Clark, the Birmingham City manager, said to Ravel that he was the best player since Gazza. His response: ‘Who’s Gazza?’ Should that surprise us? Admittedly that World Cup in Italy is 24 years ago now, and Ravel is 21, but however long ago it was I think he can be expected to know who Paul Gascoigne is. But it does show you that when you’ve gone, when you’ve had your day, nobody cares. If Morrison had played consistently at his best, he might have gone to the World Cup; on his bad days you wouldn’t have put him in our reserve team. Quote:
