Reina backs De Gea to succeed at Man United

Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina has backed David De Gea to be a hit in the Premier League - and ruled out replacing the youngster at Atletico Madrid.

The Spain Under-21 international is expected to complete a big-money move to Manchester United before the start of the season to become Edwin Van Der Sar's long-term replacement.

But the 20-year-old has only been part of Atletico's first team for the last two seasons and there are question marks over his ability to fill the boots of his illustrious predecessor.

Reds shot-stopper Reina is sure though that his compatriot has the quality to succeed at United, despite his lack of experience.

The 28-year-old, currently on holiday in Ibiza, told La Gaceta: "I very much welcome this news because David is a great keeper.

"When it becomes official he is going to start working to prove in the Premier League what a good goalkeeper who is."

Should De Gea complete his switch to England, Atletico will need replacement and Reina has been mooted as a possible option for the Spanish side.

But he said: "I know Atletico are looking for a goalkeeper, but I won't be changing colors.

"I have five-year contract with the Reds and I'm happy at Liverpool."

Tergantung persaingan sepertinya mengenai no 1, kalo tiba2 Lindergard mampu menyaingi ya kenapa tidak? Tapi IMHO sir Alex mungkin lebih sedikit percaya ke De Gea, karena sebelum pembelian pasti sudah dipertimbangkan matang-matang..
