Fergie Pastikan Ferdinand Aman di Old Trafford



Bola.net - Manajer Manchester United, Alex Ferguson mengakui karier defender Rio Ferdinand di Old Trafford masih akan bertahan hingga 2-3 tahun lagi.

Hal tersebut diutarakannya, menyusul performa Ferdinand yang dalam beberapa waktu belakangan dinilai jauh menurun, karena faktor usia yang menggerogoti kemampuan dan kecepatannya.

Ditambah dengan perselisihan keduanya terkait kampanye anti-rasisme yang akhir pekan lalu dilakukan di Premier League, yang meski keduanya mengaku sudah akur tetapi dianggap bakal menimbulkan masalah bagi keduanya.

Meski begitu, Fergie justru tidak menyebutkan kedua spekulasi tersebut perihal kontrak Ferdinand, dengan mengaku ia masih membutuhkan kehadiran defender 33 tahun itu di skuadnya.

"Ferdinand bisa bermain untuk dua atau tiga tahun lagi. Ia memiliki masalah yang berbeda dengan Paul Scholes atau Ryan Giggs, dalam hal cedera selama beberapa tahun belakangan," tutur Fergie.

"Ia tidak memiliki wakt pemulihan yang cepat, tetapi itu bukan masalah besar karena pengalamannya begitu penting. Ia tetap seorang pesepak bola hebat dan meski berusia 33 tahun, tidak ada alasan untuk ia pergi."

Lebih lanjut, Fergie mengaku akan meninjau kembali performa Ferdinand musim ini, untuk memperlancar proses negosiasi perpanjangan kontrak sang pemain, sesuai kebijakan klub.

Bola.net - Rio Ferdinand mengisyaratkan bahwa musim ini bisa menjadi musim terakhirnya bersama Manchester United. Kabar yang mengejutkan bagi kubu United.

Kontrak Ferdinand, 34, di Old Trafford akan habis akhir musim nanti. Manajer United Sir Alex Ferguson pun berencana mengikat bek sentral Inggris tersebut setahun lagi. Namun, Ferdinand mengatakan dia butuh waktu untuk berpikir sebelum mengambil keputusan.

Ferguson yakin Ferdinand masih bisa bermain di top level dua atau tiga tahun lagi, tapi Ferdinand sendiri belum punya gambaran seputar masa depannya. Pertimbangan utama Ferdinand adalah masalah kebugaran.

"Menyenangkan mendengar manajer berkata seperti itu, tetapi masih butuh berminggu-minggu dan berbulan-bulan sebelum mengambil keputusan," tutur Ferdinand kepada majalah Inside United.

"Kita lihat saja bagaimana kondisi saya saat Natal nanti dan di musim panas mendatang," imbuhnya.

Menurut Ferdinand, ujian terbesar bagi kondisi fisiknya adalah pada periode akhir Desember hingga awal Januari, di mana United harus melakoni empat pertandingan dalam kurun waktu hari.

Rio: "Setan Merah" Lama Telah Kembali



MANCHESTER, KOMPAS.com - Defender Manchester United (MU), Rio Ferdinand, mengaku senang melihat perkembangan timnya. Menurutnya, "Setan Merah" lama yang kompetitif dan punya mental juara, kini telah kembali.

MU memang sempat kurang lancar di awal musim. Mereka mengalami dua kekalahan dari enam pertandingan pertamanya. Namun, setelah itu mereka menang lima kali brturut-turut, termasuk dua kemenangan penting atas Arsenal dan Chelsea. Sehingga, mereka memimpin klasemen, unggul dua poin dari tetangganya, Manchester City.

Menurut Ferdinand, ini tak lepas dari gaya Manajer SIr Alex Ferguson dalam membangkitkan semangat. Menurutnya, sebelum pertandingan, Ferguson selalu menunjukkan klasemen. Jika MU tak dipuncak, maka tim dituntut mengejarnya. Jika sedang di puncak, maka Ferdinand dkk dituntut mempertahankannya.

"Aku sendiri tak terlalu sering melihat klasemen sebelum Natal nanti. Semoga itu akan menjadi hari yang indah buat kami," kata Ferdinand kepada The Mirror.

"Terkadang, sesuatu berada di suatu tempat dan kami merasa aman dalam pertandingan dan juga merasa bahwa Manchester United lama telah kembali," jelas Ferdinand.

Tentang gaya permainan MU musim ini, Ferdinand menjelaskan, "Kami bermain terbuka, ekspansif, dan selalu berharap bisa mencetak tiga atau empat gol. Kami juga tak terlalu konsentrasi bertahan."

"Saat melawan Newcastle (menang 3-0), kami bermain terbuka.Kami menyerang, maka Anda menyerang. Liga ini tak punya ampun. Jika Anda tak bermain dengan karakter Anda, maka akan terhukum," jelasnya.

Ferdinand juga bangga dengan karakter MU yang tak pernah menyerah. Mereka akan terus berjuang sampai menit akhir. Termasuk saat melawan Aston Villa, mereka sudah tertinggal 0-2. Namun, MU bisa bangkit dan akhirnya menang 3-2.

"Tak peduli berapa banyak uang yang Anda miliki, pada akhir karier Anda, yang akan membuat Anda paling bangga adalah pencapaian Anda," tegas Ferdinand.

"Saya tak akan duduk dan bicara soal berapa banyak uang yang saya miliki. Akan lebih berguna jika membicarakan beberapa momen yang menyenangkan atau yang membuat sedih, saat kami kalah di laga yang harusnya kami menangi" kata mantan pemain Leeds United dan West Ham United ini.

Dilaporkan sudah ada tawaran menarik dari salah satu klub Cina.



VIVAbola - Bek veteran Manchester United, Rio Ferdinand dikabarkan tidak berminat untuk mengakhiri karier di Old Trafford. Pemain yang kini berusia 34 tahun itu sedang mempertimbangkan untuk melanjutkan karier di Cina.

Seperti dilansir Tribal Football, Ferdinand mengungkapkan keinginannya tersebut kepada sejumlah teman-temannya. Dilaporkan sudah ada tawaran menarik dari salah satu klub Cina yang bisa dipertimbangkan oleh Ferdinand.

Disinyalir angka yang ditawarkan klub Cina tersebut bakal sangat menguntungkan dan melampaui gaji pemain yang telah bermain 81 kali bersama timnas Inggris itu. Saat ini penghasilan Ferdinand di MU adalah sekitar £130 ribu perpekan.

Jika rencana Ferdinand terealisasi, maka dia bukan pemain papan atas Eropa yang merumput di kompetisi Cina. Sebelumnya, dua bintang Chelsea, Nicolas Anelka dan Didier Drogba telah lebih dulu pindah dan bergabung ke klub CIna, Shanghai Shenhua.

Manchester Derby Violence: The Reaction and Fallout to Rio Ferdinand Coin Attack



A quite fantastic footballing spectacle in the Manchester derby in last weekend's Premier League ties was very much overshadowed by some terrible behaviour from the crowd.

In particular, Rio Ferdinand was struck by a coin in the head and one Manchester City fan invaded the pitch before being taken away by police.

During the match itself, United went two goals ahead thanks to Wayne Rooney before a wrong offside call went against Ashley Young, who should have made it 3-0.

Soon after City began their comeback with a goal from Yaya Toure before Pablo Zabaleta made it all square. A very late free kick goal from Robin van Persie sealed the win for the away team at the Etihad Stadium amid scenes of mayhem following the unsavoury incidents.

The victory has sent United six points clear at the top of the table but the aftermath of the crowd trouble is far from over.



City were quick to apologise to the defender of their rivals after he was hit in the face with a coin, as per BBC:

We apologise to Rio. We condemn the actions of the individual concerned. We will support the police with any investigation and hopefully identify the person as soon as possible.

The Citizens' spokesman also confirmed the club would follow their own disciplinary procedures as well as aid the police and the FA.

As for Ferdinand himself, he appeared happy to try and play down the incident with a timely tweet, perhaps anticipating that there was enough rivalry between the two teams at present without the need for inflammatory reactions after the game.

His manager Alex Ferguson was not so ready to let the assailants off lightly.

The blood trailing down the face of Ferdinand after the initial incident was an unsavoury image to end the game with and Ferguson clearly was at pains to make it known he didn't wish to see a repeat performance, as he spoke to Sky Sports.

We were very determined to win but it's unfortunate toward the end that the City fan runs on. I don't think you need that. The same thing happened at Chelsea which was masked really by all the other things that happened. Two fantastic teams today, I think, and a fantastic game of football and it could do without that.

Following the coin-throwing incident, a fan ran onto the pitch towards Ferdinand and had to be restrained by Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart. He was then removed from the pitch by police—one of nine fans at the game who were arrested and charged.

Respect to Joe Hart for protecting that idiot who ran on!! Love the banter between fans but there is a point when it goes too far...calm it!

Following the match, the supporter apologised to Ferdinand and United as a whole for his actions, as per the Manchester Evening News

I am extremely ashamed of my actions. I have let myself down, my family down, my fellow fans down and Manchester City Football Club. I intend to write personally to Mr Ferdinand to express my extreme regret and apologies and also apologise to Manchester United and their fans. I would like to thank Joe Hart for his actions when I came on the pitch.

Equally as disturbing were reports of one supporter being "summonsed for a racially aggravated public order offence" according to the BBC. It has not been divulged who was the target of the alleged offence, but it is yet another dark stain on the game in Manchester which had plenty of talking points during the 90 minutes without the need for such lamentable interventions from the crowd.

Rio Ferdinand warns title race leaders to plug defensive leaks



Rio Ferdinand has told United to get their act together – or risk blowing the title.

The Premier League leaders moved seven points clear of champions City on Boxing Day with a dramatic 4-3 win against Newcastle. But Ferdinand insists they cannot afford to keep relying on escape acts as they head into the second half of the season.

He fears United will be made to pay for their defensive frailties, which have seen them concede 28 goals this season – more than any other team in the top half of the table. And after throwing away an eight-point lead last term, the 34-year-old refuses to get carried away with their current advantage.

“When you’re conceding goals at any level, you want to stop it,” said Ferdinand (left). “We’ve let in far too many goals and need to change that. We have to make a big effort to push on from a good position.

“If we’re going to maintain where we are, we have to sort ourselves out. A seven-point lead means nothing because we’ve been in positions over the years of being eight, nine, 10 or even 11 points clear and not gone on to win the title.

“We’ve also been behind and won it. It’s a great result for us, other results also went for us, but we’ve got more big games coming up.”

Ferdinand added: “We seem to make sure the punters get their money’s worth when they come to the ground at the moment but it was a great show of character from the lads at the start of a really busy schedule.

“The manager has got that never-say-die sprit and it filters down through the club – we take it out on the pitch and reflect that.

“All the way through the game, we were creating chances and looked like we were on the cusp of scoring goals.

“It was really important to get the win. Their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves, and we didn’t finish off a couple of chances that we created, but we have always got confidence in our boys and in the fact that we are going to score.”

Meanwhile, Ferguson will not face punishment for confronting referee Mike Dean at Old Trafford, the Football Association has confirmed.

The Scot was furious after Dean overruled assistant Jake Collin and awarded Newcastle’s second goal in the Reds’ 4-3 win.

The FA last night confirmed no action would be taken against the United boss as Dean made no reference to Ferguson confronting him in his report.

Sir Alex is hoping to have Ashley Young and Phil Jones available for tomorrow’s encounter with West Brom.

“They should both be OK for Saturday, and I will also have Tom Cleverley and Darren Fletcher, who are fresh,” said Fergie.
