Nicolas Otamendi is threatening not to turn up for Valencia training until his future is resolved.

The Argentina centre-back is due back on July 27 but wants to push through a move to Manchester United before then.

Sportsmail reported this week how he was still very much in United's thinking but their prime concern is to make headway on a deal for Sergio Ramos.

The Real Madrid captain has told Louis van Gaal he wants to join United but the Spanish side are reluctant to sell. In turn, United say they will not allow David de Gea to go to the Bernabeu unless a deal for Ramos can be brokered.

Subsequently, a deal for Otamendi has been sidelined as they focus on other transfers.

Otamendi is also on Madrid's list should Ramos go. He is a combative defender who has been outstanding in Valencia's push for Champions League qualification.

United considered signing him last year when he was leaving Porto but allowed the deal to slip away amid concerns over third party ownership.

His buyout clause is now set at £35.65m and, despite their protestations that they don't want him to go, the cash injection would be welcomed and Valencia are braced for a bid. The player has set his mind on a move to Old Trafford where he could partner international team-mate Marcos Rojo.

Valencia are also keen on reviving a deal for goalkeeper Victor Valdes who stayed behind from Manchester United's tour to receive physio treatment on Tuesday but he is open to a move.

He could yet be part of a deal for Otamendi, although other clubs are also keen on the 33-year-old former Barcelona keeper.

United have discussed a potential deal for Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero too.

The 28-year-old is a free agent and worked with Louis van Gaal at AZ Alkmaar. He shot to prominence by keeping out Holland in the World Cup semi final last year and United have identified him as a potential replacement for Valdes. Roma have also made an offer though for Romero and could offer him the first team starting position.

Otamendi Paksakan Transfer ke MU

Nicolas Otamendi mencoba mempercepat proses transfernya ke Manchester United, dengan mengatakan pada Valencia bahwa ia tidak akan kembali ke Mestalla di musim panas ini.

Laporan yang dirilis oleh Metro juga mengatakan bahwa agen sang pemain sudah terbang ke Inggris untuk menyelesaikan proses negosiasi dengan kubu Setan Merah.

United sudah lama mengejar bek Valencia tersebut, namun meski sudah banyak laporan yang mengatakan bahwa kesepakatan personal dengan sang pemain sudah tercapai, hingga saat ini transfer belum juga terwujud.

Namun demikian, dengan beredarnya laporan yang mengatakan bahwa Otamendi sudah menolak kembali ke Valencia, AS mengatakan bahwa sang agen sudah terbang ke Manchester untuk meresmikan kesepakatan dengan United.

Disebutkan bahwa pertemuan tersebut akan digelar dalam beberapa hari mendatang dan United akan membayar sedikit lebih murah dari 35,5 juta poundsterling atau nilai pelepasan kontrak sang pemain.

United set to launch bid for defender after meeting with agent



According to Spanish outlet Super Deporte, Manchester United and Manchester City are set to launch bids for Valencia centre-back Nicolas Otamendi after meeting with the player’s agent in Porto over the weekend.

The Argentine has been linked with United for some time now, and seemingly wants out of Spain despite only being at Valencia for the past season.

Speaking to Cadena Ser in May, Otamendi’s agent Eugenio Lopez, said: “Two months ago Nicolas already told [former president] Amadeo Salvo he wants to leave Valencia this summer. If there’s an offer from a club we consider a top club, and it benefits his family, Nico wants to go. There are many discussions with several clubs who want to sign Otamendi.”

Valencia will reportedly rule out any bids that don’t match his release clause, causing any clubs after his signature to pay the full €50m clause (£38.4m).

OTAMENDI ADDITION IMMINENT
MAN UNITED CLOSE TO COMPLETING DEAL FOR MAN CITY DEFENSIVE TARGET

Manchester United are believed to be on the verge of completing a deal to sign Manchester City target Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia, according to reports from the Express.

The 27-year-old’s representative Jorge Mendes is said to have met with both clubs in order to push the deal forward.

United are hoping they can finalize the deal before Otamendi returns to his club for pre-season following his extended holiday due to his involvement for Argentina in the Copa America.

Manager Louis van Gaal is very keen on reinforcing his backline before the start of the new campaign and is currently leading the race for the services of the Valencia star.

Premier League rivals City have also entered the race for the defender, but with the Red Devils already in advanced talks with the player, a move to Old Trafford looks imminent.

The La Liga giants were said to have already allowed his exit, but are still standing firm on their demands for his £35million release clause to be met.

tapi menurut gw sih ya....untuk apa beli defender ya

smalling, jones dan rojo/evans dan youngster mcnair atau blacket perlu lebih di asah lagi

mereka punya prospek yang lebih bagus di bandingkan harus buang2 duit untuk beli seorang bek yang mungkin baru di kenal dalam 2 tahun ini.

Kalo soal pembinaan pemain muda sih ane setuju aja om. Cuma setelah ngeliat musim lalu sampe akhir, ditambah 2 laga pramusim kemarin, kayaknya yg diharapkan dari LVG (dan mungkin fans) adalah adanya pemain belakang yang BERKELAS dan BERPENGALAMAN yg tujuannya sbg mentor mereka para bek bek muda United skrg. Soalnya jujur aja sepeninggal Rio + Vida + Evra, udah ga ada lagi sosok senior yg ilmu dan tekniknya segudang. Evans? Gitu gitu mulu menurut ane

Makanya dikaitin sama bek bek yg kelasnya udah senior macam Otamendi ini selain Ramos. Dari umur juga mereka bisa 'dimanfaatin' antara 2-3 musim lg sampai Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Mcnair bener2 mateng. Nama nama yg ane sebut tadi emang bener2 berbakat, sangat berbakat, hanya aja belom stabil, entah itu dr sisi mental (terutama ngadepin klub2 gede atau di game2 yang penting) dan lain2. Jadi butuh teladan dari para bek senior berkelas dunia.
