Donny van de Beek 'wants to quit Manchester United' with £40m midfielder 'set to hold talks with Ed Woodward' after starting just two Premier League games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

* Donny van de Beek is ready to quit Manchester United after one season
* The midfielder joined the club from Ajax in a £40million deal last summer
* The Dutchman has started just two Premier League games for the club
* He is reportedly set to hold talks with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward

Donny van de Beek is reportedly ready to leave Manchester United after just one season due to a lack of game time since his £40million move from Ajax.

The midfielder was the Red Devils' big-money signing last summer but he has failed to cement a regular place in the first-team with just two Premier League starts to his name.

According to the Daily Star, the frustrated Dutchman is set to hold talks with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward before the end of the season but wants to leave Old Trafford in order to kick-start his career.

Donny van de Beek is reportedly ready to quit Manchester United at the end of the season. The midfielder is said to be frustrated over his lack of game time since his £40million move

Van de Beek has started 11 games in all competitions with the rest of his 15 appearances coming from the bench with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring his alternative midfield options.

He has found himself behind Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba and Fred, with Bruno Fernandes holding down the regular spot in front of the two central players.

The 23-year-old is also said to be concerned his lack of playing time could affect his chances of making Holland's squad for the Euros this summer.

The midfielder has been unavailable for the last three weeks after picking up a muscle injury at the end of February.

However, he is set to be in contention to make the squad for United's Europa League last 16 second leg tie with AC Milan on Thursday.

There have been signs Van de Beek has become frustrated with his situation at Old Trafford.

The midfielder was substituted in the 73rd minute of United's FA Cup game with West Ham, while the score was 0-0.

The Dutchman's face dropped when he realised he was about to be withdrawn for Fernandes.

His reaction led BBC commentator and pundit Jermaine Jenas, who sympathised with his situation, to claim the midfielder was 'playing with fear' and without any rhythm.

'That look on his face there I've just seen sums up unfortunately the way he's playing at the moment with a bit of fear and a lack of rhythm,' Jenas said, as Van de Beek was replaced by midfield star Fernandes.

'I honestly don't think it's his fault. He's out there being professional, doing everything he possibly can.

'But when you don't have that run of games in your system or belief that you can go out there and afford to make mistakes you don't show the full version of who you are, and that creative streak which got him to the football club in the first place.'

sebenarnya sih mau VDB bertahan dan dikasih kesempatan untuk membuktikan diri, namun jika kesempatan itu gak datang2 mending VDB dijual/dipinjamkan saja, siapa tau kayak Lingard, ke WHU malah jadi gacor. gak tega liat mukanya tiap mukanya dibench disorot atau dimainkan cuma bbrp menit terakhir

Ronald de Boer rubbishes reports Donny van de Beek already wants to leave Man United and return to Ajax but admits £40m midfielder is 'not happy' at lack of game time and will have to take stock in the summer

* Reports had suggested Donny van de Beek wanted Man United exit in summer
* £40m Dutch midfielder has only started two Premier League games this season
* Van de Beek has spent most of his time warming the bench for United
* But Dutch legend Ronald de Boer rubbished talk of an exit after just one year
* De Boer admitted Van de Beek isn't happy with lack of game time but will stay

Ronald de Boer has poured cold water on speculation Donny van de Beek wants to leave Manchester United and return to Ajax this summer.

Midfielder Van de Beek has been handed just two Premier League starts by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since signing for £40million last August.

It led to suggestions the Holland international already wants to leave Old Trafford in search of greater game time elsewhere.

Donny van de Beek has struggled for game time during his first season with Manchester United, leading to suggestions he may leave the club in the summer. The 23-year-old has started just two Premier League games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

But De Boer, who shared the same agent with Van de Beek and is a coach at Ajax, said it wasn't true.

I spoke to Ajax and they said there's no truth in it at all,' De Boer told talkSPORT 2.

'He didn't ask to speak to them. He's just focusing on his recovery on his ankle, and it's not true that he asked Man United to leave.'

However, De Boer admitted that Van de Beek is far from happy with the situation after just 11 starts in all competitions so far during what has been a frustrating first season.

Van de Beek can't play as a No 10 in United's team because Bruno Fernandes has been in outstanding form and he is below Paul Pogba, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic in the midfield pecking order.

De Boer added: 'His agent also told me that of course he's not happy that he's not playing.

Ronald de Boer, who shares an agent with Van de Beek, has rubbished suggestions he wants to leave United this summer. The midfielder is said to be frustrated over his lack of game time since his £40million move from Ajax to Old Trafford

'He's only had two [league] starts under Solskjaer and that's not what he hoped for when he joined Man United.

'He's not worried, of course he wants to play every game. But he's not worried that he can't succeed.

'He has to have a review after this year, asking where do I stand? Do I have a possibility to succeed here or not? Otherwise, I have to make a move.

'We will see where he's heading next year, maybe he stays at Man United or maybe another club is interesting for him.

'But he's not panicking at all, he told his agent he's so happy at Man United because the club is one of the best in terms of how they treat him. He feels loved.'

De Boer also pointed out that Van de Beek will need greater game time to fully adapt to the rigours of the Premier League and said the same of his former Ajax team-mate Hakim Ziyech at Chelsea.

He said: 'It's only Fernandes who had no problem to adapt.

'It's not a football thing, it's the physical part. There are so many guys and within two years their physical appearance changes dramatically.

'In Holland, it's nice with the ball but it's not so physical. We have to give him time.'

Rio Ferdinand offers sympathy to Donny van de Beek regarding his Manchester United game time and claims Dutchman would add 'value' and 'intelligence' to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midfield

* Donny van de Beek has been left out of 20 Manchester United matches this term
* But the £40m signing showed his class in Mason Greenwood's goal at Leicester
* Rio Ferdinand admits he feels sorry for Van de Beek regarding his game time
* Ferdinand says Van de Beek would be at Ajax if he knew this would be his role

Rio Ferdinand admits he feels sorry for Donny van de Beek for not being given enough minutes at Manchester United and feels the Dutchman can add 'value' to the Red Devils.

The 23-year-old was United's £40million summer signing from Ajax but the midfielder has been left out in 20 matches this season and has played just 63 minutes of league football in 2021.

Van de Beek showed his quality by playing a key role in Mason Greenwood's equaliser in United's 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final loss to Leicester City on Sunday and Ferdinand claims the midfielder would not have moved to Old Trafford had he known about his bit-part role under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Rio Ferdinand admits he feels sorry for Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek. The £40m signing (middle, right) has been left out of 20 matches for the Red Devils this term

Speaking about Van de Beek, Ferdinand told VIBE with Five: 'I feel for him. I don't care who you are - if you're playing the odd two minutes here and there, three minutes here and there, you cannot perform. I don't care what level of player you are.

'I don't think he's been helped in terms of team selection and opportunities so I don't think it's fair to say he's underperforming because he's not been put in a position to perform yet on a consistent basis.

'I really do feel for him but it would be interesting to hear what he was sold and told on the way in because the lack of opportunities, I don't think he'd have come here if he'd known that.'

Van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford having made his name in Holland - playing a major role in Ajax's run to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.

In his final season with the Dutch giants, Van de Beek scored 10 goals and registered 11 assists in a domestic campaign that was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But Van de Beek has featured just 27 times for United as he struggles to compete alongside Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba for a starting spot.

Ferdinand claims Van de Beek would not have joined United if he had known his game time. Van de Beek made his name at Ajax and scored 10 goals and adding 11 assists last season. Ferdinand claims the Dutchman (middle) can add 'value' and intelligence to this United team

Former United defender Ferdinand believes his role in Greenwood's goal at the weekend shows the Dutchman's intelligence and ability to influence matters in the penalty area.

Ferdinand continued: 'I watched him a hell of a lot in the Champions League in the year they had a good run to the semi-finals, Ajax.

'He was so impressive in the way he arrived in the box, the way he could play deeper as well and keep the ball, keep the game ticking.

'I think he would add value to this team, definitely. He's someone who would create goals, he played a part in the goal (vs Leicester). When he gets in the box, he knows how to put the ball in the back of the net.

'But to get in the box he's got to play in the position where Bruno Fernandes is playing and he's not going to do that. Can he do it from No 8 position or No 6 when he's holding? I think he can. He's intelligent enough.

'Ajax players are brought up to be intelligent footballers, they are able to play multiple positions, he can do that. It's just obviously United want a stiffer central midfield area behind Bruno.

'I get that, given that's got to be protecting the centre backs and that's not going to be one of Van de Beek's strengths. But then it begs the question: why buy him then?'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offers Donny van de Beek Man United lifeline, admitting Holland duty has 'done him the world of good' and revealing the midfield flop has 'scored some absolute crackers' in training ahead of Brighton clash

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Donny van de Beek scored some 'top goals' in training
* Solskjaer wants to see the Dutchman kick-on for the remainder for the season
* Van de Beek has only started twice for Manchester United in the Premier League
* The 23-year-old has been kept out largely due to the form of Bruno Fernandes

Donny van de Beek has returned from international duty in goal scoring form according to Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The United boss revealed the Dutch midfielder has scored some 'crackers' in training, after hitting the back of the net for Holland in the 7-0 demolition of Gibraltar.

And he is hopeful that the 23-year-old can kick-start his career at Old Trafford in the final games of the season, after a lacklustre start to life in England.

'Donny scored some absolute crackers when we were all back in training on Friday' said Solskjaer.

'He scored some absolute top, top goals that I'd be really proud of myself and it's done him the world of good, going away and scoring a goal for Holland.

'We hope we can see a lot of that for the next eight weeks of the season and then to kick on again.

'Sometimes it's natural that if you don't play and have injuries you lose a little bit of confidence and spark.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (right) has been impressed with Donny van de Beek (left) in training. The Dutch midfielder has had an underwhelming start to his career at Manchester United

'Then you go away with your national team and feel good. I can talk from my own experience, sometimes I went back to play for Norway and you get the feel about yourself better.'

Van de Beek has failed to establish himself as a first team regular during his debut season at Manchester United.

The Dutchman has made just two starts in the Premier League, and has been kept out of the side by the sensational form of Bruno Fernandes.

A move away from Old Trafford has already been the subject of much speculation, however it appears Solskjaer has a strong desire to see the 23-year-old succeed at the club.

Manchester United 'will REJECT any offers for midfield flop Donny van de Beek this summer' with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having 'big plans' for the Dutchman, despite giving him just 326 Premier League minutes all season

* Manchester United will not let Donny van de Beek leave the club this summer
* Van de Beek has had a nightmare debut season, hardly featuring in the team
* But boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly has big plans for the Dutch playmaker

Manchester United are set to refuse any approaches for midfield outcast Donny Van de Beek this summer, despite the Dutchman barely featuring for the Red Devils all season.

While van de Beek's former club Ajax are keen to rescue him on loan, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has big plans for the midfielder and assured the 24-year-old that his chance will come, according to The Sun.

Van de Beek has experienced a nightmare first season at Old Trafford, with just 326 Premier League minutes under his belt so far this campaign.

He has completed 90 minutes in the Premier League just once, back in November against Southampton, and has made only 32 appearances across all competitions, with one goal to his name and two assists.

Manchester United will reject any offers for midfielder Donny van de Beek this summer. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (right) has told Van de Beek that he will get his chance soon. Van de Beek has made just 32 appearances in all competitions so far, scoring only one goal

Such has been his decline since a much-vaunted £40million move last summer that his women's team compatriot and fellow Red Devil Jackie Groenen recently teased Van de Beek that she has played more at Old Trafford than him.

Last month the young playmaker was also linked with a move to Juventus, with United reportedly considering a swap deal for French midfielder Adrien Rabiot, and just last week La Repubblica reported that Roma were interested in a swap for midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

But Solskjaer has reportedly held recent talks with Van de Beek and indicated that he has a future at the club, and United are relaying the message to potential suitors that there is no deal on the table.

Donny van de Beek 'expected to hold talks with Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his role in the squad next season'... after £40m signing made just four Premier League starts in his first season at Old Trafford

* Donny van de Beek was bought by Manchester United for £40million from Ajax
* Yet the Dutchman was not a regular in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting XI
* He scored just one goal and registered two assists in a difficult debut campaign
* Now, Van De Beek is seeking assurances about his role ahead of next season

Manchester United playmaker Donny van de Beek will reportedly hold talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his role in the first-team squad next season.

The 24-year-old Holland international endured a difficult first season at Old Trafford following his £40m move from Ajax last summer.

Van De Beek made just four starts in the Premier League and was an unused substitute during United's Europa League final defeat against Villarreal last week.

Donny van de Beek will reportedly hold talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his role. The Dutchman was an unused substitute during United's Europa League final defeat

Now, The Telegraph report that Van De Beek is expected to hold talks with the United boss about his role next year after a season of stagnation following his breakthrough at Ajax.

He is currently on international duty with Holland ahead of this summer's European Championships.

Back in November, Van De Beek admitted he was keen to play more, saying: 'I'm a patient person, but of course you go there to play as much as possible.

'I also think – in the minutes that I have made, in the times that I have come in – I have shown that I can add something to the team.'

Solskjaer brought the 24-year-old in from Ajax last season but he has not played regularly

In 36 appearances in all competitions, Van De Beek scored just one goal and registered only two assists.

The fact he wasn't used last Wednesday, when United were looking for a winner against a rigged Villarreal defence, is likely to be a cause of concern for the ex-Ajax man.

Van De Beek was United's major summer incoming last summer but will have been surprised by his lack of minutes, particularly in the Premier League, last season.

Rafael van der Vaart says Donny van de Beek 'doesn't fit' at Manchester United and is 'far too good to sit on the bench for two seasons'... as he claims Borussia Dortmund would have been a 'better step' for his fellow Dutchman

* Donny van de Beek is not a good fit for Man United, says Rafael van der Vaart
* The midfielder made just four league starts after his £40m move from Ajax
* His countryman Rafael van der Vaart believes he should have joined Dortmund
* The former Spurs star says he needs minutes and is too good for the bench

Donny van de Beek is not a good match for Manchester United and isn't likely to start under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to his countryman Rafael van der Vaart.

The Dutchman joined Old Trafford last summer in a £40million deal from Ajax, but is yet to meet expectations having made just four Premier League starts in the 2020-21 campaign - with the midfielder facing an uncertain future.

And former Tottenham star van der Vaart suggested the midfielder may have to seek an exit because he is 'too good' to settle for a spot as a substitute.

Donny van de Beek 'doesn't fit' at Manchester United, according to Rafael van der Vaart. The midfielder has made only four starts since his £40m move to Old Trafford last summer

'He fit perfectly into the Ajax system, but he doesn't fit at Manchester United,' he told ESPN, via Goal.

'If nobody leaves United [this summer], he will be lucky to get in the starting line-up.

'He is far too good to sit on the bench for two seasons. He needs minutes very quickly. He is still young, but time flies.'

The 24-year-old rose to prominence in the 2018-19 season as part of Ajax's team that reached the Champions League semi-finals - scoring against Tottenham in the first leg - and had been heavily linked with Real Madrid.

United won the race for his signature, but he has been scarcely used by his boss Solskjaer. He scored just one goal all season, making 15 appearances off the bench.

Donny van de Beek is reportedly set to hold talks with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about his role. Van der Vaart believes he would have thrived playing with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland at Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder is currently with the Dutch national team as he prepares for Euro 2020

Van der Vaart, who thrived in the Premier League with Spurs and also featured for Real Madrid, believes van de Beek moved to a big club too quickly - claiming he would have been better suited to a club such as Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

'A club like Borussia Dortmund would have been a better step for him. Manchester United might be a step too far for him.'

Van de Beek is reportedly set for talks with Solskjaer over his first team role after his frustrating campaign - capped off by failing to be introduced in the Europa League final despite the team struggling to break Villarreal down.

The player - who is currently on international duty with Holland as he prepares for Euro 2020 - admitted he was keen for more game time while speaking in November.

'I'm a patient person, but of course you go there to play as much as possible,' he said. 'I also think – in the minutes that I have made, in the times that I have come in – I have shown that I can add something to the team.'

Last month he came under fire from Dutch legend Marco van Basten, who slammed his 'big boy' attitude and thinking he would succeed at Old Trafford.

'It just shows what a great life they have when they play at Ajax,' he told ZiggoSport.

'They all think very quickly that they are a big boy here and can make it in other countries, but in the Netherlands, there is a nice competition.

'In a team like Ajax you are really helped, especially in the No 10 position. Then you often see that they go abroad and it is a different story.'

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek has been ruled out of Holland's Euro 2020 campaign through injury.

Van de Beek has endured nightmare debut season in England after his £40m switch from Ajax. Van de Beek did play the full 90 minutes of United's final game of the Premier League season

Van de Beek has endured a nightmare debut season in England following his £40million switch from Ajax last summer.

His game time has been severely limited under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with just four Premier League starts under his belt in the 2020-21 campaign.

Van de Beek did play the full 90 minutes of United's final game of the top-flight season last month but was an unused substitute in their Europa League final defeat by Villarreal.

In 36 appearances he scored just one goal and supplied only one assist, having been forced to settle for a bit-part role.
