'Back to work': Marcus Rashford sets out his stall to Erik ten Hag, after the new Man United manager asked for a report on all of his players' holidays... with the struggling star showing he's working long before the new Premier League season start

* Marcus Rashford shared a 90-second gym workout video on his Instagram page
* The 24-year-old forward is getting a head start before returning for pre-season
* He is aiming to move on from a poor season after scoring five goals in 32 games
* Rashford will hope to catch the eye of new Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag
* The England international has been linked with an Old Trafford exit this summer

There are still two months to go until the start of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, but Marcus Rashford's pre-season is already well under way.

The Manchester United star shared a 90-second workout video on Instagram, with the caption: '3 sessions in and feeling good after an amazing break with amazing people. Back to work.'

The clip will appease new United boss Erik ten Hag, who has reportedly ordered a full report on every member of the squad - including where they are going on holiday to ensure each player returns for pre-season in the best shape possible.

Ten Hag is said to have demanded to know everything about his players both on and off the pitch, including information about each player's home and family life, alongside a comprehensive run-down of their character.

Marcus Rashford shared a 90-second post-holiday gym workout video on his Instagram page, The 24-year-old endured a miserable season at Manchester United, scoring just five goals

Rashford has been away in California since the season finished and got engaged to long-term girlfriend Lucia Loi.

But it seems that his focus is now very much on matters on the pitch as he looks to improve upon a miserable year at United.

The forward scored just five goals in 32 games in all competitions, his worst return since breaking into the team six years ago. He started just 13 Premier League games and failed to find the net in any of them.

As a result, Rashford has lost his place in the England squad, but while the Three Lions are facing four Nations League fixtures this month, the 24-year-old is putting in the work away from the camp to try to impress Gareth Southgate.

He will also hope to catch the eye of Ten Hag, having been ill with bronchitis when the new United boss was watching from the stands at the team's final day of the season loss against Crystal Palace.

The Dutchman has asked United's stars to report back for pre-season on June 27, with trips to Bangkok and Australia on the agenda.

Rashford has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with PSG said to be interested in offering him a fresh start.

Outgoing Red Devils manager Ralf Rangnick last month hit back at claims that the forward hadn't played enough football and said that Rashford was not unhappy at the club.

Rashford has lost his place in Gareth Southgate's England squad as a result of his poor form. He will be hoping to impress new United boss Erik ten Hag when he returns for pre-season

'I don't think that he's not had enough game time,' Rangnick said. 'He's had 13-14 games since I've been here now, he played more games from the start than he didn't play from the start. I don't think this is an issue and he never said anything about that since we spoke yesterday. But the [transfer] window is closed now.'

'Even suppose he and his agents or his family at one stage of the summer think about maybe going to another club, well then he can do that but in the summer. I spoke with him yesterday and the day before so I don't know anything about him being unhappy.

'He didn't say anything to me, he said to me that he is still happy and that he wants to perform on a high level for the club. There was no mention of him not being happy here.'

Manchester United dismiss the possibility of Marcus Rashford joining Tottenham this summer with out-of-form striker prepared to 'reset and refresh under Erik ten Hag' - after only 13 Premier League starts last season

* Manchester United have dismissed Tottenham links to Marcus Rashford
* The 24-year-old striker is keen to stay at Old Trafford and fight for his spot

Manchester United have dismissed the prospect of Marcus Rashford joining Tottenham.

United sources say the England international striker is ready to 'reset and refresh under Erik Ten Hag'.

United want to add a striker but are assessing other options rather than get embroiled in an auction with Liverpool for Benfica's Darwin Nunez.

The 24-year-old endured a torrid season at Old Trafford, managing just four goals and two assists in the Premier League across the campaign, and Spurs have been linked with a move.

Manchester United have dismissed the prospect of Marcus Rashford joining Tottenham. The England striker is keen to be part of Erik ten Hag's new formula at Old Trafford

With one year left on Rashford's contract, the Red Devils may have been tempted to cash in on the winger now rather than risk losing him later on a free transfer - a fate the club ultimately accepted with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard this summer.

New Dutch boss Ten Hag has taken over the reins following a season of turmoil at Old Trafford, which saw the Red Devils finish sixth in the Premier League and concede a club-record high of 57 goals across the campaign.

Rashford was also deemed surplus to requirements on many occasions, recording his lowest appearances total at the club (25) since 2015-16.

Only 13 of these caps came from the first whistle, with the rest occurring off the substitutes' bench.

Ten Hag, who is reportedly on holiday, will team up with his new troops on June 27 as the United squad returns to full training.

Rashford will be eager to send a message to his new boss with hard work on the training ground as he looks for a fresh start away from last season.

Default Re: Marcus Rashford

'Refreshed' Marcus Rashford is out to prove his future lies at Man United after a poor season... the England outcast means business under Erik ten Hag and could be given a free licence in attack

* Marcus Rashford expressed his desire to stay at Manchester United next season
* He wants to fight for his place in Erik ten Hag's team after falling out of favour
* The 24-year-old endured a terrible 2021-2022 campaign, scoring just four times
* Rashford experienced a lack of confidence, dwindling passion and poor stamina
* Ten Hag is known for reviving careers and will look to do the same with Rashford

Marcus Rashford has expressed his desire to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place in Erik ten Hag's team after falling down the pecking order under Ralf Rangnick.

Rashford's lack of confidence, dwindling passion and poor stamina saw him occupy the bench more often than not for United after he returned to the squad following his shoulder surgery.

Having managed just four goals and two assists in the Premier League across the 2021-2022 campaign, Rashford had been linked with a departure from Old Trafford this summer.

Tottenham was touted as his likely destination but United have dismissed claims the 24-year-old could join Spurs and will subsequently help Rashford 'reset and refresh' under ten Hag.

So, will ten Hag get the best out of the under-performing forward during the 2022-2023 campaign? If anyone can, he can. The Dutch manager has a track record of helping out-of-favour stars rediscover their best form.

Marcus Rashford has expressed his desire to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place. Rashford's lack of confidence, dwindling passion and poor stamina saw him occupy the bench more often than not for the Red Devils during a disappointing 2021-2022 campaign for him

Ten Hag has been lauded for the work he has done in Holland.

The 52-year-old established an exciting style of football and developed several youth players into first-team stars during his time at Ajax.

He is also known for his ability to resurrect the careers of failing footballers who have lost their way. He has signed multiple players from the English top-flight and beyond - despite their struggles in their respective leagues.

The Dutch manager has then worked his magic on the outcasts - reviving their careers and giving them a new lease of life. This is something he intends to do with Rashford.

Ten Hag's magic touch can be evidenced by Dusan Tadic's transformation at Ajax. He had faded into the background at Southampton and desperately needed to reignite the spark he used to have.

Having moved to the Dutch top-flight to play under ten Hag, Tadic established himself as one of the leading goal contributors in Europe.

Ten Hag had the same effect on Daley Blind, Davy Klaassen, Ryan Babel, Maarten Stekelenburg, Quincy Promes and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

However, it's Sebastien Haller's revival that should excite Rashford. It took just 18 months for Haller to prove his critics wrong and excel beyond belief.

He has established himself as a threat to any opposing defence while playing under Ten Hag - having found the back of the net 34 times in 43 games for Ajax. As a result, Haller has become a highly coveted target ahead of the summer transfer window.

So, with that in mind... how will ten Hag approach Rashford's transformation? Well, it all starts with confidence.

The 24-year-old's self-esteem took a hit last season after failing to land a regular place in the starting XI after returning from his shoulder injury.

Rashford endured a torrid season at Old Trafford, managing just four goals and two assists in the Premier League across the 2021-2022 campaign.

However, it was the England international's actions off the ball that were the most alarming for United fans.

He was failing to make the right runs, he was sloppy in possession, he was robbed of the ball in 1v1 situations and his head dropped after every mistake he made.

Ten Hag will look to help Rashford recognise his quality by highlighting his key attributes and emphasising the importance he has on the team.

Ten Hag will also look to give Rashford the licence to attack out wide. The Dutch manager favours a 4-3-3 formation - a system previously implemented by Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United.

However, he has adapted to a 4-2-3-1 formation when needed and used a 4-4-2 diamond system during his time at Utrecht.

That being said, it seems likely that Ten Hag will go ahead with a 4-3-3 formation for the start of the 2022-2023 Premier League campaign and reassess later down the line.

The Dutch manager will encourage United to be patient in their build-up play and press with intensity. He will also ask his players to use the left-hand side of the pitch for combinations and the right-hand side for 1v1 situations.

Ten Hag is known for his attacking, front-foot football and its success is evidenced by his trophy-laden spell with Ajax - who won the title last season and secured a Champions League spot.

As a result, Ten Hag will look to use his philosophy to mould the current Manchester United team.

Therefore, Rashford will be given the opportunity to attack freely on the flanks and connect with his fellow team-mates in dangerous areas - something the 24-year-old has spoken about before.

Speaking about his preferred position in April 2020, Rashford said he favours the left wing. He told news outlet 90min: 'When you are on the left, you can create a lot more things on your own, giving that little bit more to the team.

New United manager Erik ten Hag will be looking to get the best out the 24-year-old forward. Ten Hag has a track record of helping struggling footballers rediscover their best form. Sebastien Haller's revival under ten Hag at Ajax should excite Rashford about the future. Louis van Gaal praised Rashford for his ability to take instructions and do what he wanted

'Whereas when you are playing up front, sometimes you are isolated and need someone in midfield who can find passes for 90 minutes of a game, so you can disappear in games sometimes as a number nine.

'When I transitioned to a number nine when I was younger, that's the bit that I struggled with as I was always someone who wanted to express myself on the ball.

'When I started playing number nine, I realised that you don't see the ball as often as you do in other positions, but when you do see the ball, it's an opportunity to score goals.

'That's what I loved about being a number nine and that's what I still love about it. But right now I'm enjoying having the freedom to mix between the two - and I think it suits us well at the moment as Anthony [Martial] likes to drift to the left and drop deep as well.'

For Rashford to cement his place in the team, he will need to show ten Hag that he has the ability to score goals and create opportunities. He will also need to demonstrate his ability to initiate combination play and dynamism in attack.

However, Rashford has previously shown he is capable of moulding himself to a manager's style of play. Louis van Gaal said the England international was good at doing what he asked during his tenure at United.

Van Gaal said: 'Rashford did the things I asked of him. He scored again, four goals in two matches. You get the chance and you have to perform, you have to do the things what we are asking. I have always said it is not a matter of age, it is a matter of quality. And he shows it.'

Ten Hag will also look to transform Rashford physically after expressing his concern over the fitness levels of the Manchester United squad last season. This should significantly enhance Rashford's concentration and ability on the ball.

Rashford is clearly anticipating the physical demands the new manager will place on him. As a result, he has been seen working hard on his fitness ahead of United's first pre-season game against Liverpool on 12 July.

He shared a 90-second workout video on Instagram, with the caption: '3 sessions in and feeling good after an amazing break with amazing people. Back to work.'

It has also been a happy summer off the pitch for Rashford. The MBE recipient proposed to his childhood sweetheart while on a postseason getaway in California.

He got down on one knee for long-time girlfriend Lucia Loi last month, less than a week after United ended their season in defeat to Crystal Palace.

The pair, both aged 24, have been dating since the age of 15 when they were pupils at Ashton on Mersey school in Greater Manchester.

Rashford will be hoping his work ethic, combined with Ten Hag's magic touch, will help revive his career at Manchester United.

However, only time will tell...

Marcus Rashford is DESPERATE to make a late World Cup surge and ignite Man United's revival under Erik ten Hag... as he starts a 10-day pre-season training camp in the US this week after being left out of England squad

* Marcus Rashford is hoping to revive his Man United career ahead of World Cup
* The forward was left out of Gareth Southgate's squad for Nations League games
* United No. 10 is optimistic new boss Erik ten Hag can help him recover form
* Rashford will face stiff competition for places in Southgate's squad in November

Less than a month after the Premier League finished, Marcus Rashford will land in the U.S. this week for a 10-day individual pre-season training camp.

There is no time to lose. Rashford is desperate to revive his Manchester United career under new manager Erik ten Hag and the clock is ticking ahead of the World Cup in November.

He was once one of England’s brightest prospects, but Rashford’s hopes of being on the plane to Qatar hang in the balance. He is in a race against time to get back in the squad, even one so lacking in attack that their games against Hungary, Germany and Italy this month have seen just one goal scored.

Gareth Southgate’s admission over the weekend that the 24-year-old has ‘a lot to do’ to regain his place came as no surprise to Rashford after face-to-face talks with the England manager last month.

Marcus Rashford is hopeful he can turn his Man United career around ahead of World Cup. The 24-year-old will try to push for a spot on England's plane to the World Cup in November

He never expected to be part of the latest squad in the wake of the most difficult season of his career and the form of players such as Jack Grealish, Tammy Abraham and Jarrod Bowen.

Rashford is not in denial, according to those close to him. He respected Southgate’s decision and the effort he made to explain it. He also knows what he has to do to play at the World Cup.

Following Tuesday's game against Hungary at Molineux, England have one more get-together in September before Southgate names his squad, so there is still a narrow window of opportunity. Hence Rashford’s determination to hit the ground running and convince Southgate to think again.

A holiday with his fiancée Lucia has been combined with gym workouts, beach sprints and strength and conditioning sessions with a personal trainer. Ball work will be stepped up in America so Rashford is ahead of the game when he has his first session under the fastidious Ten Hag at the end of the month.

The United forward was left out of Gareth Southgate's recent Nations League squad. Rashford will be hoping incoming United boss can help turn around his fortunes at Old Trafford. Steve McClaren was critical of Rashford's body language during a game in January

Rashford knows he paid for not having a pre-season last summer after opting for surgery on a muscle tear in his left shoulder against United’s wishes.

He did not kick a ball for three months after missing a penalty in England’s Euro 2020 final shootout defeat by Italy at Wembley before going back into action for a United team in freefall. That was also Rashford’s last kick in an England shirt.

The psychological impact of that miss cannot be overstated either. Rashford stayed in bed for days afterwards and saw a sports psychologist for the first time in his career.

Last season he scored just five goals in 32 games for United. Rashford’s versatility counted against him as he was shunted around different positions under caretaker boss Ralf Rangnick, who even played him at wing-back on one occasion.

Rashford last played in April against Chelsea before he missed the final three games with a bout of bronchitis. It has led to questions over his future at Old Trafford with his £200,000-a-week contract set to run out next summer, although United have the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

A number of European clubs are monitoring the situation but Rashford is committed to staying at his boyhood club. United, too, have little appetite to lose another academy graduate following the departures of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.

Ten Hag’s work with younger players was one reason for his appointment. United hope the Dutchman will have a restorative effect on Rashford.

Steve McClaren’s return to the club as assistant manager may be a concern in light of his brutal assessment of Rashford’s body language during an FA Cup tie against Aston Villa in January.

‘I hate that attitude,’ said McClaren. ‘Rashford has probably always had this problem in terms of questioning his attitude. He doesn’t fight through bad moments. He doesn’t stay in the game.’

McClaren’s opinion isn’t the only one Rashford has to change over the course of the next few months. But he knows what he has to do, and the hard work has already begun.

Marcus Rashford claims Erik ten Hag will quickly change Manchester United's identity and the new manager's changes will be 'obvious to see' as the club seeks to bounce back from a dismal season

* Erik ten Hag has a huge job on his hands if he is to succeed at Old Trafford
* The Dutchman will want to implement his style of play on his new squad
* Marcus Rashford has welcomed Ten Hag's arrival and expects a quick impact
* Rashford will hope to revive his career under Ten Hag after a poor campaign

Marcus Rashford has claimed Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will immediately change the club's identity and the Dutchman's imprint on his new side will be 'obvious' to see.

Ten Hag is set to embark on a significant rebuild at Old Trafford after United endured a dismal season last term, failing to qualify for the Champions League and ending with their lowest Premier League points tally.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then interim boss Ralf Rangnick, United played without any real discernible style, structure or confidence in a hugely disappointing campaign.

Ten Hag will have a full pre-season to implement his preferred style of play. His first game in charge will be the friendly against Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.

And Rashford, who is expected to stay at Old Trafford despite his uncertain future at the club, believes fans will be able to spot the changes the Dutchman has made to the team's system.

'At the beginning of pre-season, you want to get your fitness levels up,' he said. '[You want to] get back to what it's like to play in the Premier League.

Marcus Rashford believes new United manager Erik ten Hag will have an instant impact. Ten Hag has a significant job on his hands if he is to turn around United's fortunes. The 24-year-old is seeking to revive his United career and get back into the England squad

'When a team changes its identity and changes the purpose of the football, it'll be quite obvious to see. I think you'll be able to see it.'

Ten Hag is facing a gruelling pre-season schedule in his new role as United are scheduled to travel nearly 23,000 miles before the campaign opens on August 6.

Following the match with Liverpool in Thailand, United head to Australia for games against Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, before they play Atletico Madrid in Oslo a day before a home encounter with Rayo Vallecano.

Rashford endured a disappointing season under Ralf Rangnick as United struggled

Clubs jetting off on pre-season tours was commonplace before the pandemic and Rashford is keen to return to normality this summer.

'We all enjoy getting away and spending that time together,' he said. 'Being away from home for so long, it's [the team is] like your little family.

'It's going to be a nice feeling,' he said. 'We've not been able to travel because of Covid, and it's something that we've missed.

'It's always a big part of our pre-season so it's exciting to be able to go to those places again.'

Rashford this week began a 10-day individual pre-season training camp in the United states.

Marcus Rashford 'has been convinced to stay at Manchester United by old pal Daley Blind', with fallen England star now 'excited by the prospect of working with Erik ten Hag and receiving the guidance he has lacked'

* Marcus Rashford's future at Manchester united has been in question
* The English forward just endured a season to forget at Old Trafford
* Daley Blind has made him look forward to a fresh start under a new manager

Former Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind has reportedly helped convince Marcus Rashford to stay at the club.

Rashford's future at Old Trafford is in question after a very disappointing campaign where he became somewhat of a scapegoat at times.

He managed just five goals in 37 appearances and looked a shadow of the player who burst on to the scene when he originally joined the first team.

However, Goal claim he is now excited about a fresh start under new manager Erik ten Hag.

The Dutchman has previously turned careers around, such as those of Sebastian Haller, Hakim Ziyech and Dusan Tadic.

Ten Hag will have a full pre-season to implement his preferred style of play. His first game in charge will be the friendly against Liverpool in Bangkok on July 12.

Marcus Rashford insists Erik ten Hag's 'fresh ideas and tactics' will help Man United get off to a fast Premier League start after torrid campaign under Ralf Rangnick - as uncertainty looms over Cristiano Ronaldo's future

* Marcus Rashford has lifted the lid on pre-season training under Erik ten Hag
* The English forward praised the new boss for bringing 'fresh ideas and tactics'
* Rashford scored just four league goals last season as he struggled for form

Marcus Rashford is targeting a fast start to Manchester United's Premier League campaign after Erik ten Hag completed his first week of pre-season training as the new Old Trafford boss.

Rashford suffered his worst year in a United shirt last season, plagued by injuries and often relegated to the bench under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The 24-year-old was also dropped from Gareth Southgate's England team and returns to Manchester looking to rediscover previous form that helped him establish himself as one of Europe's brightest prospects.

Rashford and a host of United players not selected for post-season international matches returned for pre-season training last week as Ten Hag kick-started his new era in the Old Trafford hot seat.

'We have got that feeling of excitement and that buzz around the training ground again and so it is definitely positive going into pre-season,' said Rashford, speaking to MUTV.

'It is just about, one, getting the principles right of how Erik wants us to play and the details, and, two, enjoying it.

'In the first week of training we have done both and everyone is looking forward to going on the tour and putting what we have done in training into the first games.'

The arrival of the former Ajax manager was well received by United fans, and as revealed by Rashford, the players as well, with the Dutchman's fresh tactics giving them a new challenge to look forward to.

'I think for me, it is just fresh ideas, fresh tactics and a new personality that has been added to the team,' he added.

Marcus Rashford praised the 'fresh tactics and ideas' Erik ten Hag has brought to Old Trafford. Ten Hag completed his first week of pre-season training as the new Manchester United boss

'I am looking forward to working with him but also for us to give ourselves time as well to fit into what he wants us to do and to really feel natural doing it.

'That is what he wants us to do, for it to be second nature doing the things he wants us to do. Those things do take time but it is a challenge we are all looking forward to.'

Rashford underwent shoulder surgery following the conclusion of Euro 2020 and was widely tipped to have a stellar season for his boyhood club.

But he scored a personal low of just four Premier League goals in 25 appearances as United failed to lift any silverware and limped to a Europa League finish.

However, he feels the added benefit of a global pre-season tour will aid the club in their attempts to bounce back under their new manager next season.

'I don't think I have had a proper pre-season since 2019 so for me it is definitely a positive thing.

'I feel like I probably needed that time to switch off a little bit and me having that time enabled me to refocus a lot earlier than I expected to be honest.

'I feel ready and focused so when that first game does come it's good to know you have done almost six weeks of training beforehand. It will definitely be a positive,' said Rashford.

The winger also admitted players have 'enjoyed the training sessions' at their Carrington complex after a disastrous end to Ralf Rangnick's interim spell in charge last season.

Ten Hag has reportedly been hot on discipline since taking charge at the club, ordering players to arrive at 9am and putting them through lengthy training sessions with the 52-year-old being 'very detailed out on the grass and even in the rules of each game'.

Rashford scored the fewest league goals of his career (four) for his boyhood club last season. Rashford will be hoping to impress new boss Ten Hag as he competes to become a regular starter at Old Trafford following last season's disastrous campaign

But Rashford gave an even deeper insight into training at one of the world's biggest clubs, admitting 'We are not just doing all football and all running, we are doing a little bit of both so it's fun and it's good signs looking forward.'

The future of star forward and five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has been cast into doubt as the forward reportedly targets a summer exit from Old Trafford in search of Champions League football.

Ten Hag hasn't made any summer signings so far this transfer window, but a deal for Feyenoord Tyrell Malacia is expected to be completed soon after the full-back arrived in Manchester for his medical on Sunday.

United will jet off to Thailand for the start of their pre-season tour in less than ten days time as Premier League clubs ramp up their preparations for the start of the new season.

Default Re: Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford says Manchester United's players 'are a lot fitter' under Erik ten Hag as the striker tries to hit the ground running ahead of the new season having scored just five times last term

* Manchester United are in Melbourne for second stop on their pre-season tour
* Erik ten Hag's side take on A-League's Melbourne Victory at the MCG on Friday
* Striker Rashford believes the players' fitness levels are higher under new boss
* Rashford came into last season late after undergoing shoulder surgery
* England star scored only five times but is determined to improve this time

Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United's players are already a lot fitter under new manager Erik ten Hag as they prepare for the new season.

The Dutchman, who succeeded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as United's permanent boss, has been working his squad hard during training sessions both in Manchester and on the club's pre-season tour, which has now arrived in Melbourne.

And England striker Rashford, who endured a troubled 2021-22 campaign in which he scored only five goals, says he is already feeling the benefits of the Ten Hag revolution at Old Trafford.

Speaking ahead of United's friendly with Melbourne Victory on Friday, Rashford said: 'It's been a bit unnatural for me to have such a long break in the summer, just under four weeks, and I could have a break physically and mentally.

Marcus Rashford believes Manchester United's players are fitter under new boss Erik ten Hag

'It's massive to have a full pre-season. This is the first year I've been with the team from the beginning and I already feel a lot better.

'For me it is a fresh start, something I am looking forward to.

'I think the first two-and-a-half weeks of training have been good, we're a lot fitter than we were last season and also we're making mistakes along the way so we have a lot of room for improvement.'

Those fitness levels showed when United thrashed Liverpool 4-0 in their first tour match in Bangkok on Tuesday, with Rashford playing the first-half before making way for Anthony Elanga.

Rashford said Ten Hag's intense training sessions have boosted the squad's fitness levels. Rashford, 24, endured a disappointing 2021-22 campaign, scoring just five times for United

Ten Hag refused to get too carried away afterwards, however, and pointed to a number of mistakes that needed to be addressed.

And Rashford added: 'I always say to myself it's a lot easier to make mistakes in a team that's winning.

'The last game against Liverpool, for example, we won but we made a lot of mistakes. Individually it's the same.

'When you're losing, it's difficult - we're all sportsman and we don't like to lose. When that happens you have to refocus and try to win the next game.

'It's a big club we play for and we're expected to win and we have to work hard to improve.

'We're doing all this hard work now and trying to win as many games as we can in pre-season and then be ready for the start of the season.'

Rashford, 24, missed pre-season under Solskjaer 12 months ago after undergoing shoulder surgery, a procedure which came off the back of the disappointment of missing a penalty in England's Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy.

Rashford didn't play a match for United until October 16 and didn't get anywhere close to his best form as United lurched from one disaster to another.

He hit the ground running in a tournament-free summer by working hard on his fitness levels during a holiday to California in June.

Having started pre-season in encouraging fashion against Liverpool, United are now in Australia for three-matches.

They take on A-League side Victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday and then play Crystal Palace at the same venue on Tuesday before heading to Perth to face Aston Villa on July 23.

A friendly with Atletico Madrid in Oslo on July 30 and then Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford the following day round off their pre-season before the Premier League begins at home to Brighton on August 7.

Default Re: Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford reveals he dislikes Liverpool far more than Manchester City... with the Man United star admitting the rivalry with the red half of Merseyside is 'bitter'... as he names Anfield as the toughest ground to visit

* Marcus Rashford has opened up on his feelings about Liverpool and Man City
* The United star claims there is a bigger history between United and Liverpool
* Rashford says there's no massive reason to dislike their Manchester neighbours

Marcus Rashford has dismissed the rivalry between Manchester United and neighbours Manchester City and revealed he has a far bigger dislike for Liverpool than the blue side of the city.

The 24-year-old was appearing on an episode of UNINTERRUPTED alongside Academy Award winner Daniel Kaluuya and NBA legend LeBron James, and spoke about United's biggest rivals.

The England star claimed there's no real reason to dislike Pep Guardiola's men - but said he was not a fan of City either.

Instead, Rashford admits that he directs his dislike at United's old foes Liverpool and puts the rivalry down to the bitter history that exists between the two clubs.

'Yeah, Liverpool. I don't like Liverpool. City. Liverpool have history, so it's a bit more bitter,' Rashford said during the show.

'But with City, it's like you don't like them, but you don't have a massive reason not to like them.

'You just grow up, and it's two Manchester sides. One wears light blue; one wears red.'

Marcus Rashford expresses his dislike for Liverpool during an episode of UNINTERRUPTED. The England forward says that the history between United and Liverpool makes it a big rivalry. Rashford will be hoping for better success for United against Liverpool in the new campaign

Rashford singled out Anfield when asked about which grounds he dislikes visiting the most in the Premier League.

The forward has scored four goals against the Reds in his career, but is yet to find the net at the home of Jurgen Klopp's men.

'Liverpool is like both,' said Rashford. 'Their fans can take the game away from you. If you let them, they can take it away from you.

'My first game at Anfield, I almost got sent off straight away and I'm not a malicious player - I wouldn't try and hurt someone on purpose.'

Manchester United faced Liverpool earlier this week during their pre-season tour in Thailand, where Erik Ten Hag's side beat the Premier League runners-up 4-0.

The friendly result was a far cry from United's recent form against their arch-rivals. Last season they suffered humiliation at Old Trafford as Liverpool ran riot with a 5-0 win - which included a hat-trick for Mohammed Salah.

The Red Devils didn't fair much better in the return fixture either as they were soundly beaten 4-0 at Anfield.

Default Re: Marcus Rashford

Louis Saha vows Marcus Rashford will be 'unstoppable' for Man United this season and defends the much criticised 'McFred' pairing of Scott McTominay and Fred, insisting they have the 'qualities' to play in Erik ten Hag's midfield

* Louis Saha had leapt to the defence of under fire Man Utd star Marcus Rashford
* The former United star says when Rashford finds form he'll be unstoppable
* Saha also says it's unfair to single out midfielders Scott McTominay and Fred
* Frenchman believes that 'McFred' still have a lot to offer the Red Devils

Louis Saha believes Marcus Rashford will soon find his form for Manchester United and when he does he will be 'unstoppable'.

Rashford struggled for form and fitness last season, but after a full pre-season under new manager Erik ten Hag, hopes were high for a resurgence for the England forward.

Yet, the 24-year-old disappointed in United's opening day defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday, missing two big chances after the break to get his side back into the game.

Former Manchester United striker Saha says Rashford has too much talent for fans to have permanent worries over the striker, and it's just a matter of time before he rediscovers his form.

'The longer it takes him to get out of this bad form, then the more you start to worry,’ Saha told Metro.co.uk. ‘But he has too much talent and he’s a great kid.

‘You can see that he loves the club, he’s very committed to the club, and he doesn’t talk to the press in any nonsense way.

‘It’s only a matter of time before he’s back to his best and scoring goals for fun. When he clicks again, then I think he will be unstoppable.

Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha says Marcus Rashford can be unstoppable. Rashford struggled for form and fitness last season, but Saha believes things will improve. Rashford was a frustrated figure on Sunday as Brighton beat United 2-1 in the season opener

'He’s had to come back from an injury and has to rediscover that confidence. Once he does that, I think he’ll continue to improve and improve.

‘I think sometimes he shows he’s more frustrated than he should be, but that’s just part of football when you have the talent, and it isn’t quite clicking.

‘If he keeps working hard and tries to enjoy his football more it will come back, I’m sure about that.’

A number of Man Utd players came under fire following Brighton's first-ever win at Old Trafford, with former captain Roy Keane singling out Scott McTominay and Fred as 'not good enough', while the pair were called 'ridiculous' by Keane's former midfield partner Paul Scholes.

But Saha believes that the pair have come in for some unfair criticism and the players to have the quality to succeed at the club.

‘It’s always easy to judge when someone is not playing well,’ Saha said on behalf of ThePuntersPage. ‘I don’t want to target those two players because they get a lot of the focus.

‘Manchester United are a creative team by history and they need to create more, so those two players can be criticised for that. But it’s not just down to those two players to create chances, it’s down to the rest of the team also.

‘The strikers, the wingers and the defenders all need to do better as well so it doesn’t expose anybody. This is the problem; nobody is stepping up to help out their team mates.

‘I don’t totally agree with the criticisms aimed at Fred and McTominay because they’re players who do have other qualities.

‘If they’re being asked to do something that they can’t, then it doesn’t just come down to their quality, it comes down to the courage they have and the support from the rest of the team.

‘At this moment in time, the foundation and the balance isn’t good enough throughout the team.

‘Everybody has to contribute, so I don’t totally agree that all the pressure and criticisms should be put on Fred and McTominay.

‘They’re both hard-working guys and you can see they’re both really committed to the game, so I think it’s unfair on them.

‘It’s only the first game, they need to improve that’s for sure, but everybody needs to step up. There are some big games coming up, so we will see if they can bounce back from it.’
