LVG wants to build for the future (near) and ultimately wants to play a 4-3-3 formation, but he does not have the right "specialist attackers", i.e a winger. LVG even specifically noted "Di Maria and Ronaldo". As you can tell, he is already building 'his team' buy hopefully buying Di Maria. At Bayern Munich he played 4-4-2 because of the players he had at his disposal, and so when he brought in one player, Robben, he changed the whole system to 4-3-3. A similar thing here with Rooney/RVP/Mata needing to play AND not having that top class specialist winger forced LVG to play this way (3-5-2/5-3-2). Thus, I see LVG making that 'Robben move' by buying Di Maria and changing the while system to 4-3-3 as he has that specialist winger. Again, we all know that LVG will stick by his principles and his philosophy, so I see him not hesitating one bit to drop RVP/Rooney; if that means the whole squad plays better-then he will do whatever it takes. If they don't like it, they can sod off.(which they won't as no one is willing to pay £250k every week).

Now, we are playing this 3-5-2/5-3-2 formation because:
A)We have Rooney, RVP and Mata. We should fit them all in (we don't need to).
B) Why we NEED to play this 3-5-2 formation is because of the lack of specialist wingers in a 4-3-3 formation.

Now we have Di Maria, we do not have the need to play that 5-3-2 formation. This will benefit the whole team more than playing Rooney/RVP together (which slows the whole team down, you could see the injection of pace from Welbeck changed things around a little). What will eventually happen is would LVG drop Rooney to play Van Persie for the benefit of the whole team? I think he will, Rooney is also not as big impact on marketing as RVP is (sells more shirts in the whole PL).

Two more pluses of a 4-3-3 system:
1) is playing Adnan Januzaj on the right wing, where in a 5-3-2 system-he can only play as a striker (RVP, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez are infront of him) or a wing-back (he does not have the defensive stability there).
2) We lack Defenders for a 3-5-2 system, so playing 2 defenders will ease our worries as we do not need as many centre-backs, and they don't need to be learning new tactical information too.

Where will Di Maria play?
The most logical position for Di Maria to play in Van Gaal’s 3-5-2 is in the midfield five, just inside the left-wing back. Luke Shaw will eventually operate wide left of the five and Di Maria would play to his right.
Last season he played on the left of the midfield three at Real Madrid and he had his best season at the club. He has the engine to get up and down the pitch covering the runs of the left wing-back when necessary, just as he did last season filling the gaps left by Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao going forward.
He was also able to make runs from a central position out to the left touchline and get around the back of teams. He gave Real Madrid dynamism and an unpredictability in attack that United look like they desperately lack.
In a 3-5-2 with Phil Jones, Jonny Evans, Marcos Rojo in defence, Rafael, Juan Mata or Ander Herrera, Darren Fletcher, and Shaw in midfield, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie up front he would be very much at home.

Where else can he play?
For every tactical alternative in Van Gaal’s big black folder there is a role that Di Maria can play.
The Argentine’s versatility is a one of his greatest qualities. In the 3-5-2 formation he could also play as the left wing-back.
He could play wide left in a 4-4-2. He could also play wide right in a 4-4-2 coming inside to shoot with his left foot.
He can play on the left or right of a 4-3-3 both in the midfield three and the front three.
Jose Mourinho even had him down as an emergency left back.

Manchester United hope to formally announce the signing of Angel di Maria on Tuesday after agreeing terms on a British record transfer fee of £59.7million plus add ons with Real Madrid.

United officials held meetings with their Real Madrid counterparts on Sunday evening and resumed talks on Monday as they bartered down the £75million asking price.

The scale of the extra fees due from United will depend on performances and the prospect of Di Maria winning the Ballon D'Or.

The Argentina international posed with fans at Madrid airport on Monday afternoon prior to flying into Manchester on a private plane to meet up with United manager Louis Van Gaal late last night.

Van Gaal had been at Carrington overseeing the first team squad's 4pm warm-down session and training ahead of tonight's Capital One Cup second round tie at MK Dons.

Di Maria's arrival will give the club a welcome lift following a disappointing start to the season that has delivered just one point from their opening two Premier League games but there is concern that his signing, as stellar as it is, fails to address United's real needs and Van Gaal is pressing the club to deliver two more players over the coming days.

Ajax utility player Daley Blind and Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal are among those being considered.

Madrid are also agreeing terms over United right-back Guillermo Varela. The 21-year-old Uruguayan only joined United a year ago from Penarol but will move to Real Madrid's B team Castilla to play under Zinedine Zidane. The deal is likely to be a loan with a view to a permanent £3million transfer.

Di Maria will join up with his new United teammates at training on Thursday and the club hope to formalise his work permit and registration by 12noon Friday if he is to figure against Burnley on Saturday.

A work permit, however, has yet to be arranged for his compatriot Marcos Rojo with the Bank Holiday helping to delay the process.

Di Maria, hailed as the best player in Spain, 'surpassing even Lionel Messi' according to former Argentina coach Cesar Luis Menotti, has at least got United supporters excited.

The United megastore was forced to post a sign on Monday saying they had run out of letter Rs as fans scrambled for number 7 shirts embossed with 'Di Maria' on the back.

A need for more such names is underlined by the fact United face MK Dons tonight in the Capital One second round without seven first-team players. Chris Smalling has joined Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Rafael da Silva on the sidelines.

Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez and Shinji Kagawa are set to be involved from the start, with youngsters Reece James and James Wilson also in contention to play. Juventus have made an enquiry about the availability of Hernandez after Arsenal stalled on the proposed loan of Lukas Podolski.

Welbeck remains a target for other clubs with Everton, Tottenham, Newcastle and Sunderland rivalled by Turkish club Galatasaray.

Ternyata faktor yang bikin turun nilai transfer (nggak dibutuhkan sama Madrid) menang sama faktor yang bikin naik nilai transfer (United butuh pemaen bagus segera). Madrid nggak butuh Di Maria dan musti menjual dia, dan yang bisa beli hanya United setelah PSG dan City terhambat FFP. Harusnya dengan faktor itu EdWood bisa menekan harga transfer lebih murah lagi. Masalahnya Madrid tau klo United butuh pemain bagus dengan segera dan punya dana transfer banyak, jadi Flo Perez bakal "jual mahal" dikit. Akhirnya... £59.7jt untuk pemain dengan nilai pasar £44jt.

Overpriced atau nggak? Urusannya Glazer dan EdWood. Yang penting LVG dapat pemain baru dan bagus. Moga bisa maksimal ntar klo jadi dibeli
