[10/11] Penghuni Papan Atas EPL



Musim kompetisi EPL 2010/2011 akan segera bergulir, kurang dari sebulan ke depan, tapi rasanya tidak akan pernah terlalu dini untuk ngebahas or memprediksi siapa-siapa aja calon penghuni Big Four yang nantinya akan mewakili EPL di ajang UCL musim berikutnya ...

setelah beberapa musim ke belakang banyak diprediksi akan adanya perubahan pakem big four di EPL (yg selama ini lebih dominan dikuasai Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal dan Liverpool), pada kenyataannya baru pada musim 2009/10, Spurs berhasil merangsek ke posisi # 4 dengan mementalkan Liverpool (yg parahnya justru finish tidak pada posisi # 5 tapi # 7), musim lalu Spurs bahkan berjuang secara ketat dengan rival United dari Eastland, Manchester City yang finally harus puas di posisi # 5.

sedangkan Liverpool yang 2 musim lalu tampil sebagao penantang utama United dan finally hanya finish di urutan 2, musim lalu prestasinya sungguh memprihatinkan sehingga selain digeser Spurs dan City, juga Villa yg finish di urutan # 6, bahkan hampir saja mereka kalah bersaing dengan rival sekota, Everton yang akhirnya finish di posisi # 8.
bahkan untuk level Eropa, kehadiran Liverpool di EUFA league lebih banyak tertolong dengan keputusan FA yang melarang Pompey (sevagai runner up FA Cup) untuk tampil di Eropa karena masalah financial sselain juga mereka harus terdegradasi.

bagaimana dengan prediksi musim depan nih ...

masing2x club sedang giat-giatnya berbenah dengan aktif bertransaksi di bursa transfer, baik pemain ataupun pelatih

apakah Chelsea akan dapat dengan mudah mempertahankan mahkota juara mereka, bagaimana dengan kengototan United untuk meraih kembali trophy tersebut
bagaimana upaya Liverpool untuk kembali, paling tidak, merangsek kembali ke big four
bagaimana peluang Arsenal yang juga mengalami perombakan disana-sini untuk mengakhiri paceklik gelar mereka beberapa tahun kebelakang
apakah Spurs masih bisa mempertahankan posisi mereka sekarang ini
sejauh mana City akan tampil ngotot dengan target ajang UCL next seasons
juga Villa dan Everton yang tidak akan tinggal diam dengan hanya menjadi club level EUFA League

bagaimana dengan peluang club-club lain untuk ikut meramaikan persaingan di papan atas EPL musim ini, Fulham, Sunderland, West ham mungkin ... ???

Liverpool blom abis, apalagi pasca pergantian pelatih mereka, Hodgson yg terbilang sukses musim lalu dengan membawa club semenjana selevel Fulham ke final UEFA League telah ditunjuk menggantikan Rafa yang kini menukangi Intermilan

Gerrard yg menjadi ruh the Kop memastikan keberadaannya untuk tetap di Anfield,
Joe Cole yang lebih memilih untuk bergabung dengan Hodgson daripada pinangan Arsenal or Spurs
Mungkin para Liverpudlian masih sedikit H2C akan status Torres musim depan yg masih blom clear
but tetap Liverpool masih bisa menjadi ancaman yang tidak bisa dipandang sebelah mata oleh club manapun ...

bahkan Oom Giggs pun masih memberikan kredit lebih pada club yang tengah berlomba dengan United untuk menorehkan sejarah di persepakbolaan Inggris

Ryan Giggs: It's dangerous to rule out Liverpool

Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has warned it would be foolish to rule out Liverpool as possible Premier League winners.

Liverpool only finished seventh last season after a disappointing campaign under Rafa Benitez and after the manager departed Anfield, later joining Inter Milan, it was rumoured that new boss Roy Hodgson would struggle to hold onto his better players.

But following the signing of Joe Cole on a free transfer, Steven Gerrard has pledged his future to the club and morale is resurgent on Merseyside.

Though Liverpool are not considered among the favourites to win the Premier League, Giggs is reluctant to rule out the possibility of the Reds beating United to a record 19th title.

"Two years ago they were close to winning the Premiership so you can never write them off," Giggs told ESPN. "They have got a new manager - it just depends how it goes really.

"It is dangerous to write off a team with Liverpool's history. They have won the same amount of leagues as us and you can't just dismiss that really. They are a huge football club and a massive team."

United's local rivals Manchester City are being tipped as outside challengers for the league having spent substantial sums on the likes of Jerome Boateng, David Silva and Yaya Toure this summer. City were beaten to fourth place by Tottenham last season but Giggs is aware of the threat of the club Sir Alex Ferguson famously described as the "noisy neighbours".

When asked if the Manchester rivalry was greater than ever, Giggs replied: "I think so. The rivalry has always been there but I think it has been turned up a notch purely because of how much money they have got.

"I felt that last season with the first game. The build-up to it was huge. The world was watching because they were watching the biggest team in the world, which is us, and the richest team in the world, which is them. It is great for the city to have that kind of interest, the world watching you, but it has probably gone up a notch with the rivalry."

When asked who would be in contention to compete at the top of the league, Giggs said: "I think the usual suspects really - Arsenal, Chelsea. I think it was an interesting season last year when everyone caught up with each other really.

"Aston Villa were fourth for a while, you have got Liverpool with a new manager, so it is difficult to say how they will do, but altogether I think it will be six or seven teams who will be going for that Champions League spot, whereas in the past it has only been four."

Sementara masih nggk jauh jauh dari seperti musim sebelumnya yang selau bercokol diatas..United, Arsenal, Chelsea, dan liverpool yang diprediksikan akan lebih bergairah kembali, seiring dengan datangnya JC. Hotspur yang musim ini akan mencoba peruntungan di Champions League itupun jika lolos kualifikasi dimungkinkan masih bisa berbicara lebih..City juga mungkin show off dengan belanjanya yang jor joran musim ini.

Scholes questions Premier League pretenders

Manchester United veteran Paul Scholes admits he doubts whether Manchester City and Tottenham can seriously challenge the Premier League big guns.

City missed out on a Champions League spot last season despite spending huge amounts but remain hopeful of challenging for the league title. Spurs, meanwhile, will aim to build on an impressive campaign which saw them clinch fourth place last season behind champions Chelsea, runners up United and third-placed Arsenal.

Midfielder Scholes, however, is unsure whether Roberto Mancini's City and Harry Redknapp's Tottenham can make a real fist of challenging for the title.

"I honestly think it will be the same as any other season really," he told the Sunday Mirror.

"The same teams that are always there will be up there - ourselves, Chelsea and Arsenal.

"Tottenham had a great year but whether they manage to do that again, I'm not sure. How good City are going to be we don't know yet."

He added: "They have been spending big money again this summer but whether they can gel together in time this season remains to be seen, although there's no doubt they have a quality team now."
