Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has decided to keep Anthony Martial at Manchester United this summer.

There has been much speculation about Martial's future at Old Trafford following his disappointing recent form and concerns regarding his attitude.

However, as reported by The Mirror, Solskjaer will persist with Martial and will give the Frenchman another season in which to prove himself.

Martial has scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for United this season across all competitions.

However, he has mustered just one goal in his last ten appearances, with that strike coming against Watford on March 30.

The 23-year-old's versatility - he can operate effectively on either flank or up front - is very useful to United when he is at his best.

Solskjaer has been left frustrated by Martial's attitude of late and left him out of the squad for United's draw with Huddersfield, with the attacker having been an unused substitute in the previous game against Chelsea.

In January Martial signed a new contract at United that runs until the summer of 2024.

Since joining United from Monaco in 2015, Martial has proceeded to score 48 goals in 173 appearances for the Red Devils, while he has provided 29 assists.

Anthony Martial is going nowhere as Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer 'considers him to be the club's Pele.'

The Frenchman has found life tough at Manchester United and has seen his long-term future brought under scrutiny under both Jose Mourinho and more recently Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But according to the Mirror, the decision has been made over his future in the boardroom with Joel Glazer viewing the talented attacker as his 'favourite player' in the current squad.

Martial found himself faced with the wrath of Solskjaer during the recent 1-1 draw at Old Trafford against Chelsea.

The Norwegian boss vented his anger at Martial in front of the other players in the dressing-room after leaving the Frenchman on the bench for the game.

Fans criticised the 23-year-old winger on social media on Monday after he was filmed watching his teammates in the pre-match warm-up, holding his hands behind his back and standing with one foot on a ball while they went through a series of drills.

Defeat on the final day at home to relegated Cardiff City saw United's stars booed off and there is a sense a number of them may not play for the club again.

Finishing sixth means United will compete in the Europa League next season and Solskjaer faces a real battle to restore United to the top four and back in title contention.

Jose Mourinho has urged Anthony Martial to fulfil his potential and likened him to Karim Benzema, whose strained relationship with the manager at Real Madrid was well documented.

Mourinho fell out with Martial on last summer's pre-season tour after the Frenchman flew home from the US to attend the birth of his child.

The Portuguese was keen to sell Martial, but a move never materialised and the forward stayed at Old Trafford.

But the fractious relationship, Mourinho contests, was a bid to get the best out of Benzema. Something, he says, he was trying to do with Martial.

Mourinho told L'Equipe: 'With Karim, it was not a conflict, I just wanted to help the player – an incredibly talented player – change his mindset, help him reach his maximum.

'To become a killer, a determined striker. I really enjoyed working with Karim.

'He [Martial] is a boy with a different personality. The thing I can say is that I hope he will reach a level commensurate with his real potential.'
