Kevin Mirallas facing eight weeks on the sidelines after limping out of Everton's Merseyside derby clash at Anfield

* The Belgium ace is likely to be out of action until December
* Kevin Mirallas had to be taken off after just 31 minutes against Liverpool
* Roberto Martinez will be without his forward for Everton's trip to Old Trafford on Sunday

Everton's worst fears about Kevin Mirallas have been realised as the Belgium forward faces up to eight weeks on the sidelines.

Mirallas pulled up sharply during Everton’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Saturday and left the field on a stretcher; manager Roberto Martinez immediately said after the game that the signs 'did not look good'.

He was sent for scans on Sunday and subsequently had more tests on Tuesday to determine the full extent of the damage. It is understood that Mirallas is now not expected to return before December.

Kevin Mirallas looked in some pain after picking up a hamstring injury at Anfield on Saturday

The Everton forward had to be carried off on a stretcher during his side's Merseyside clash against Liverpool

A lay-off of that length would equate to him having suffered a grade two tear of his hamstring.

It is a huge blow for Martinez and Everton, as Mirallas has been in excellent form since the start of the season and had scored three goals in seven appearances.

The 26-year-old will now be denied the opportunity to play against his former club Lille in the Europa League at the end of this month, as well missing up to six Barclays Premier League fixtures, starting with this Sunday’s trip to Manchester United.

When Mirallas first joined Everton in 2012, he suffered a number of hamstring problems but last season he turned things around and was virtually ever present before going on to help Belgium reach the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Martinez has praised the work Mirallas has done to improve his fitness and the former Olympiakos striker admitted recently that he was in his best physical condition, now that he had fully adjusted to the demands of English football.

Mirallas said: ‘When I came here from Greece at first I struggled because the leagues are totally different. Here it is all about possession, about running up and down, it’s non-stop all the time. I was getting very tired when I first arrived but now I feel totally different about things – I feel very good.

‘It’s my third season here and each one it has got better. The players have improved, we’ve improved as a team every year.’

Fernandinho may miss Tottenham clash after being ruled out for two weeks with hamstring injury

Manchester City midfielder underwent scans on Monday after limping out of the 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on Saturday

Fernandinho is facing a battle to be fit for Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Tottenham later this month after being ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring injury.

The City midfielder underwent scans on Monday after limping out of the 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on Saturday as a result of the injury.

And Fernandinho has now been withdrawn from the Brazil squad for the forthcoming friendlies against Argentina and Japan, in Beijing and Singapore respectively, in order to undergo treatment at the club’s new Etihad training campus in an effort to be fit for the visit of Spurs on October 18.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini has been told that the £30m signing from Shakhtar Donetsk has a 50-50 chance of returning to face Tottenham.

But with the squad due to fly to Russia 24 hours after the Spurs clash in order to prepare for the Champions League Group E encounter with CSKA Moscow, Fernandinho could be held back from the league game and saved for the behind-closed-doors tie against CSKA.

Ozil out for 10 to 12 weeks
TEAMtalk.com - 8th October 2014 14:54

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has been ruled out for 10 to 12 weeks with a knee injury, according to the German Football Association.

The German FA announced the news of his scan results on their website after Ozil missed training ahead of their upcoming European*Qualifiers against Poland and the Republic of Ireland.

A statement on the DFB website read: "The MRI examination today at National*Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt in Munich revealed a partial rupture of the*outer band of the left knee joint.

"The treatment is conservative, with six weeks of immobilisation of the knee*joint. Mesut Ozil is likely to be (out for) 10 to 12 weeks."

The midfielder played the full game on Sunday as Arsenal were beaten 2-0 at Chelsea -*the sixth time in six Premier League starts he has completed all 90 minutes.

The news comes as a further blow to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger whose squad has already been depleted with injuries to*Olivier Giroud,*Mathieu Debuchy, Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Theo Walcott.

Arsenal dealt blow as £42m Mesut Ozil out until next year with knee ligament damage

* Mesut Ozil ruled out until next year with knee injury
* Injury was diagnosed while Ozil was on international duty
* The news comes as a major blow to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger
* Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy, Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta already out

Arsenal have been dealt a shattering blow with £42million midfielder Mesut Ozil ruled out for up to three months with knee ligament damage.

The fitness verdict came from the German FA, who have sent the midfielder back to Arsenal after scans.

It is another setback for manager Arsene Wenger, who is in the midst of an injury pile-up involving key players, with Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy, Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta all sidelined.

Mesut Ozil will be missing for the remainder of 2014 after the German FA confirmed he had a knee injury

World Cup winner Ozil reported for international duty in Frankfurt with a sore left knee after suffering a knock in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal asked the Germans to investigate the problem but the club were not impressed to discover the findings broadcast via the DFB’s official Twitter account soon after the injury had been examined by team doctor Hans Muller-Wohlfahrt.

The German FA said Ozil has a ‘partial tear’ of his lateral collateral ligament, will not be fit for the international fixtures against Poland and Republic of Ireland and will not be back for next month’s games against Gibraltar and Spain.

Arsenal’s fitness coach Shad Forsythe also works with Germany — he will step down from his international role after these fixtures — but the north London club refused to confirm the severity of Ozil’s injury until their record signing is back at the club.

They will perform their own assessment of the injury but the 25-year-old is clearly facing a long spell out.

Wenger hopes to have captain Arteta back from an ankle injury in time for the Barclays Premier League game against Hull on Saturday week.

There is also an outside chance Ramsey may also be available as he has responded better than expected to treatment for a hamstring problem.

Theo Walcott, out since January with a cruciate knee injury, has returned to full training but is not expected to be available for the first team until the end of this month.

Giroud and Debuchy have both been ruled out until the end of the year after ankle operations. Serge Gnabry is out with a knee injury, Yaya Sanogo is out with a hamstring strain, Abou Diaby has had another setback on his return to fitness and Nacho Monreal has been struggling with a nagging back problem.

Hull’s Ahmed Elmohamady has withdrawn from the Egypt squad for two African Nations Cup qualifiers a

LATERAL COLLATERAL LIGAMENT

The lateral collateral ligament (LCL) goes from the top part of the fibula (the bone on the outside of the lower leg) to the outside part of the lower thigh bone. The ligament helps keep the outer side of the knee joint stable.

The LCL is usually injured by pressure or an injury that pushes the knee joint from the inside, which results in stress on the outside part of the joint. Symptoms include swelling, the knee locking or giving way.

Arsenal are the most crocked club in the Premier League with 890 injuries since 2002... that's an injury every five days

* Mesut Ozil's knee ligament injury is Arsenal's 890th since 2002
* They lead Premier League charts ahead of Manchester United
* Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott among sufferers
* Arsene Wenger has ordered an investigation into Ramsey's injury
* Mathieu Debuchy and Olivier Giroud also currently on the sidelines

Arsenal are the most injury-prone club in the Premier League – with Mesut Ozil's knee ligament damage the 890th separate injury they have had since 2002.

In research that won't surprise long-suffering Gunners fans, specialist website premierinjuries.com have gone through every pulled muscle and broken leg over the past dozen years and revealed that Arsene Wenger's men have suffered an injury nearly every five days and 100 more different knocks than their closest 'challengers', Manchester United.

Ozil, a World Cup winner with Germany, has been ruled out for up to 12 weeks with a partial knee ligament tear sustained in Sunday's 2-0 defeat against Chelsea.

Mesut Ozil's knee ligament injury was Arsenal's 890th since 2002, according to a specialist website

He is one of eight Arsenal players currently unavailable for the first-team alongside Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Debuchy, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Serge Gnabry, Yaya Sanogo, Mikel Arteta and David Ospina.

Laurent Koscielny was on Thursday sent home by France following an injury scare and may also be unavailabe for Arsenal's game against Hull on October.

Wenger has ordered an investigation into the number of injuries his side have had recently. There was particular bewilderment how influential midfielder Aaron Ramsey could have sustained a hamstring problem after last month's draw with Spurs having been trained lightly and rested from other games.

The Arsenal manager revealed: 'We are getting things together, getting a report on all the different opinions – what happened to him, because it’s a real concern.'

SIX OF THE... BEST? ARSENAL'S LONG-TERM SUFFERERS

THEO WALCOTT

Called into the England squad at 17, Walcott's career has been dogged by injuries since. He hasn't played since January after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee against Tottenham, and missed the World Cup in Brazil.

TOMAS ROSICKY

Averaged fewer than 20 games a season for Arsenal since signing in 2006 with ankle and hamstring problems a major factor.

His worse spell out came when he limped off against Newcastle with a hamstring tear in January 2008 and didn't play again until the September of the following year.

JACK WILSHERE

Had a stop-start career at Arsenal due to injuries despite making his debut for the club at 16. Missed the entire 2011-12 season after a stress fracture ankle injury sustained in a pre-season friendly against New York Red Bulls.

AARON RAMSEY

Arsene Wenger claimed it took Ramsey three years to fully get over the double-break of his leg after a challenge by Ryan Shawcross of Stoke City in 2010.

The fall-out caused bad blood between the two clubs with Stoke arguing that Shawcross had become a scapegoat when it was an honest challenge for the ball.

EDUARDO

Suffered a sickening broken leg against Birmingham City in 2008 that ended Arsenal's title challenge that season and effectively Eduardo's career at Arsenal.

Although the Brazilian-born Croatia forward did return to play for the first-team, he never reached his previous heights and was sold in 2010.

ABOU DIABY

Supposed to be the long-term successor to Patrick Vieira, Diaby's career was damaged when he broke his ankle after a bad tackle on him by Sunderland's Dan Smith in 2006.

Still to make his 100th Premier League start for the club despite being the club's longest-serving player.
But the underlying statistics hint at a longer-term problem at the club. Since they won the Double in 2002, Arsenal have picked up nearly two fresh injuries a week during season-time with some of their stars particularly affected, notably Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Abou Diaby.

Their total number of injuries, 890, compares unfavourably to other clubs over the same time period. Manchester United have had 794, Tottenham 788, Everton 666, Chelsea 622, Manchester City 596, Aston Villa 578 and Liverpool 553.

Newcastle United have had 777 injuries in the Premier League over the period since 2002 and that doesn't include their one season in the Championship in that time.

Mathieu Debuchy has been missing for Arsenal since picking up an injury against Manchester City last month

While Wenger is keen to improve the injury situation, he and Arsenal would argue that some of the more serious problems have been unavoidable.
Ramsey didn't play again for the Gunners for 13 months after infamously breaking his leg against Stoke City in February 2010.

Diaby's problems seemed to start when a bad tackle by Sunderland's Dan Smith caused a broken ankle that kept him out of Premier League action for nine months.

Now Ozil is out and the bad luck continues.

dan terakhir kabarnya Laurent Koscielny ikut cedera juga, menambah daftar panjang pemain cedera Arsenal. btw Liverpool yg pemain cedera paling sedikit dibanding tim papan atas kok gak pernah juara EPL yah? #ehhh
