Manchester United 'make £57m bid for Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar'

* Jose Mourinho is looking to further boost his defensive options this summer
* Inter Milan reportedly want £70m for Slovakian centre back Milan Skriniar
* The 23-year-old played every Serie A game in his first season at the San Siro

Manchester United are seeking to bolster their defence by bringing in Inter Milan's £57m-rated defender Milan Skriniar

Having already recruited young right back Diogo Dalot, Jose Mourinho has now turned his attention to centre-back additions.

And 23-year-old Slovakian international Skriniar heads the shortlist, according to reports in Italy.

Manchester United have reportedly made a £57m bid for defender Milan Skriniar. Jose Mourinho has already bolstered his options at full back and now wants a centre back. Skriniar has quickly established himself as a first-team regular in one season at the San Siro

But Gazzetta Dello Sport claim that Inter are unwilling to entertain bids under their asking price of £70m.

Skriniar only arrived at the San Siro last summer in a £20m move from Sampdoria.

But he has quickly established himself at Inter and played every single one of their 38 Serie A league games last season.

Last week Skriniar admitted to the Slovakian national team website that there was interest from Old Trafford.

But he was quick to cool any transfer talk: 'Manchester United? I heard from them and it made me proud,' he said when asked about United.

'But I'm even happier that Inter decided to reject it and that they believe so much in me.'

Manchester United considering £12m move for Xherdan Shaqiri after he impresses Jose Mourinho with Swiss displays at the World Cup

* Jose Mourinho is said to have been impressed by Xherdan Shaqiri in Russia
* Relegated Stoke could sell the Switzerland winger for as little as £12million
* Shaqiri is keen to remain a Premier League player next season
* Switzerland exited the World Cup when they lost 1-0 to Sweden on Tuesday

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho 'is weighing up a move for Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri' who could leave relegated Stoke City for as little as £12million.

Winger Shaqiri, who has also been linked to Liverpool, is keen to remain a Premier League player next season.

And, according to The Sun, he would be keen on a move to Old Trafford, with Mourinho impressed by his performances for Switzerland at the World Cup in Russia.

Shaqiri told Sporx: 'I want to stay in the Premier League, and you will find out my new club soon.'

The 26-year-old has scored 15 goals in 92 appearances for Stoke since joining them back in 2015, but would be available for a cut-price £12m.

Mourinho is believed to be an admirer of the player and has told friends he has been impressed by Shaqiri at the World Cup.

Manchester United 'are interested in Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri' and the winger could be available for as little as £12m. Jose Mourinho has been impressed by Shaqiri's performances at the World Cup in Russia

He scored in Switzerland's 2-1 victory over Serbia, having supplied an assist for Steven Zuber in their opening 1-1 draw with Brazil.

Switzerland bowed out of the tournament after losing 1-0 to Sweden in the last 16 on Tuesday.

Manchester United defender Daley Blind targeted by Ajax but manager admits deal is reliant on other signings: 'We are doing everything'

* Daley Blind has fallen out of favour at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho
* His former club Ajax are keen to bring him back to Amsterdam this summer
* Their manager admitted they'd either sign Blind or Lisandro Magallan

Ajax are eager to re-sign defender Daley Blind from Manchester United if the Dutch side fail to recruit Boca Juniors centre-back Lisandro Magallan.

The 28-year-old Blind, who progressed through Ajax's youth system and made over 100 senior appearances for the Dutch side, joined United in 2014 but appears to be out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

The Eredivisie club's manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that a move for Blind is on the cards but reliant on any deal for Magallan.

Ajax have admitted an interest in signing Manchester United defender Daley Blind. The Dutch centre-back has fallen out of favour at United under manager Jose Mourinho

'We are doing everything, but it also depends on other parties,' Ten Hag told Sky Sports about his desire to sign the 28-year-old Blind.

The 'other parties', not only referred to United but also Boca Juniors, where the 24-year-old Magallan has been since 2012 and for whom he helped retain Argentina's top-flight title last season.

'He is still in the picture, but whether he actually arrives is still unclear,' Ten Hag added about Magallan. 'It will be either one of Magallan or Blind.

'Both of them do not seem realistic.'

Ajax aim to tie up deal for Manchester United's Daley Blind before Monday but are still baulking at £15m price tag

* Ajax director Edwin van der Sar trying to negotiate lower price for Daley Blind
* Manchester United are holding firm at £15m despite wanting him off the books
* Blind has a year remaining on his contract and is not needed by Jose Mourinho

Ajax are trying to push through a deal for Manchester United's Daley Blind before the Old Trafford club depart for their USA tour on Monday.

United want £15m for the 28-year-old Holland international despite the fact he has one year left on contract, however, Ajax director Edwin van der Sar has been in talks to try and get that figure drastically reduced.

The former goalkeeper has the significant advantage of being a legendary figure at Old Trafford following a six-year spell in which he won four Premier League titles, one Champions League and one League Cup.

Ajax want to tie up a deal for Manchester United defender Daley Blind before Monday

Blind was brought to Manchester United four years ago by Louis van Gaal, who had also selected him in his World Cup squad earlier that summer. At that time, Blind was designated as a midfielder, but has since moved back into defence.

The versatile Dutchman, who won four Eredivisie titles with Ajax between 2011 and 2014, has seen his stock dwindle over the last season after losing the faith of Jose Mourinho.

He made just seven Premier League appearances last season and 10 more across other competitions. That, combined with his 12-month contract, will be reason enough for Ajax to demand a significantly smaller transfer fee.

Manchester United ready huge bid for Harry Maguire but face having to pay Leicester £50m – TRIPLE what they signed him for just one year ago

* Manchester United impressed with Harry Maguire's England displays in Russia
* He was a standout performer as England reached the World Cup semi-finals
* Leicester stand to make a huge profit on the £17m they paid to sign him from Hull

Manchester United are expected to make a huge offer this summer for England's outstanding World Cup defender Harry Maguire.

The Old Trafford club would have to pay as much as £50m to prise Maguire from Leicester, whose rich Thai owners will fight hard to keep him.

Maguire was signed for £17m from Hull City last year but his value has rocketed after his stellar performances in Russia.

Harry Maguire as emerged as a target for Manchester United following his World Cup displays

England manager Gareth Southgate is known to have first selected Maguire because of his mental toughness, so he is tailor-made for the constant big-match pressures at United.

Maguire could replace Phil Jones or Chris Smalling in Jose Mourinho's line-up, as he has done with England.

One obstacle is the transfer window closing early on August 9, when England's players will only have just returned from their holidays.

Manchester United agree deal to sell Daley Blind back to Ajax for up to £18.5m after four years at Old Trafford

* Manchester United have agreed terms with Ajax for defender Daley Blind
* The 28-year-old swapped the Amsterdam giants for Old Trafford four years ago
* Blind made 141 appearances for United over that period, but only seven last term
* A deal worth an initial £14.1m is understood to have been agreed between clubs

Daley Blind's return to Ajax moved closer on Monday night as Manchester United agreed terms with the Dutch club.

The 28-year-old Holland international swapped the Amsterdam giants for Old Trafford four years ago in a £14million deal.

Blind made 141 appearances for United over that period, but only played seven Premier League matches last term for Jose Mourinho's side.

Daley Blind is set to return to Ajax after Manchester United agreed terms with the Dutch club. The 28-year-old swapped the Amsterdam giants for Old Trafford four years ago in a £14m deal

And he is now set to head home, with United writing on Twitter: 'MUFC has agreed terms with Ajax for the transfer of @BlindDaley. A further announcement will be made in due course.'

A deal worth an initial £14.1million (€16m) is understood to have been agreed. Add-ons could see the fee rise to £18.5m (€21m).

The Dutch side have already signed Southampton's Dusan Tadic this summer and landed in England for a pre-season training camp on Saturday.

Blind would be United's first high-profile sale of the summer, although captain Michael Carrick retired and joined Mourinho's coaching staff.

Highly-rated Porto full-back Diogo Dalot, Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazil international Fred and veteran Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant have all joined United this summer.

Manchester United eye £92m double swoop for Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic after their impressive World Cup campaign with Croatia

* Croatia pair Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic both impressed at the World Cup
* Manchester United are thought to be contemplating a move to land both stars
* Jose Mourinho is known to be a long-term admirer of Inter winger Perisic

Manchester United are contemplating a double swoop for Croatia World Cup stars Ivan Perisic and Ante Rebic.

Both players had a key role in helping their country reach the final in Russia, defeating England along the way in the semi-finals.

According to the Sun, those performances have caught the eye of United boss Jose Mourinho, who had been working as a pundit for Russia Today during the tournament.

Ivan Perisic is thought to be a target for Manchester United after his impressive World Cup

Eintracht Frankfurt forward Ante Rebic is also thought to be an Old Trafford target this summer

Mourinho is a long-term admirer of Perisic, having tried to land the Inter midfielder previously.

And he could be prepared to return for the 29-year-old, as well as putting together a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt star Rebic.

It is thought the club are willing to stump up £92million for the pair.

Rebic and Perisic were part of the returning party that received a heroes welcome in Croatia on Monday.

The squad received a staggering reception, with the main square in Zagreb packed with over 100,000 people.

Perisic scored in the final, leveling for his side after Mario Mandzukic had scored an own goal to give France the lead, before they eventually succumbed to a 4-2 defeat.

It is the country's best finish at a World Cup, surpassing their third place finish at World Cup 1998.

Jose Mourinho insists he has 'no idea' if Manchester United will make further signings this summer after spending £75m on three new arrivals already

* Manchester United have spent £75m on Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant already
* United are currently in Los Angeles on their preseason tour of the United States
* Jose Mourinho said United signed Grant so that Joel Pereira could go out on loan

Jose Mourinho has not ruled more new signings this summer as he attempts to turn Manchester United into title challengers again.

United have spent £75million on Brazil midfielder Fred, Portugal Under-21 defender Diogo Dalot and Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant, as well as tying Marouane Fellaini to a new contract.

Alexis Sanchez also moved to Old Trafford from Arsenal in January, but Mourinho hinted that he could go into the transfer market again before the deadline on August 9.

Jose Mourinho (centre) talks with Andreas Pereira (left) and Joel Pereira (right) in Los Angeles

‘I’ve no idea,’ he said at United’s training base in LA. ‘I'm not going to lie to you. I'm not going to say somebody is coming or nobody is coming. We did Lee Grant because we have a fantastic young goalkeeper (Joel Pereira) who needs to play football.

‘Joel is a Manchester United goalkeeper but, two years without football, he has to play. And to protect that position we got Lee with experience in Championship and Stoke City in the Premier League, so he is ready to fulfil that position. Joel is here with us. It’s good for him to play but then he will go on loan.

‘Fred we did quite a long time ago. We started the process. We lost Michael Carrick and I think Fred is the kind of player we need to complement the qualities of our midfield players.

‘Dalot is injured, a small injury, a small surgery. We didn't want to lose him because of that, and he's recovering really well. We think he can start training back in England, not ready for start of the season.’

Dalot is expected to be available in September following a knee injury, and Mourinho revealed that Fred will fly out to join United’s tour with Nemanja Matic and David de Gea last week despite reaching the World Cup quarter-finals with Brazil. The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder did not play at all in Russia, but he was not expected on tour.

Mourinho added: ‘Next week will come De Gea, Matic and Fred which is good, especially for Fred, a new player to be with us.’
