Re: Punggawa United - tour of duty ... :)
Anthony Martial left out of France squad for crucial World Cup qualifiers despite stunning recent form for Manchester United
* Anthony Martial has been in stunning form for Manchester United this season * The Frenchman has five goals already this season including three in three games * He found the net as he scored United's second in their win over CSKA Moscow * But his form has not been enough for him to win a place in the France squad Anthony Martial's stunning run of form for Manchester United has not been enough for him to secure a spot in the France squad for their two vital World Cup qualifiers. After starting the season facing a serious battle for minutes for a Manchester United side packed with talent, the former Monaco forward has scored five goals for the Red Devils including their second in the 4-1 Champions League victory over CSKA Moscow on Wednesday night. But that was not enough to Didier Deschamps to recall him to the national team, with Martial winning the last of his 15 international caps against Holland last October. Anthony Martial scored Manchester United's second goal in their victory over CSKA Moscow. But his impressive recent form for United has not been enough for him to earn a France recall Wins over Bulgaria and Belarus in their two games this October will secure France's place at next summer's World Cup, with Martial looking to prove over the coming months why he deserves to be on the plane to Russia. Marseille's former West Ham star Dimitri Payet does return to a squad containing six English-based players, including Tottenham's Hugo Lloris, Laurent Koscielny, Olivier Giroud and Alexandre Lacazette of Arsenal and Chelsea's N'Golo Kante. Moussa Sissoko of Tottenham also keeps his place. Martial left the win in Moscow early due to an apparent injury, but left both his manager Jose Mourinho and the assembled television pundits impressed by his display. Quote:
Speaking after the match on BT Sport, former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves added: 'I love him on the left. He's so positive. He looks an incredible talent and starting to hit those goals. His crossing is exceptional.' Michael Owen, also formerly of Manchester United, had this to say: 'From the left he's really good.' Code:

Re: Punggawa United - tour of duty ... :)
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku sustains ankle injury and is a doubt for Belgium's World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Cyprus
* Romelu Lukaku injured his foot in Manchester United's clash with Crystal Palace * He underwent an MRI scan but has no fracture or structural damage to the foot * The United hitman has netted 11 times in 10 outings for his new club this term * A Belgium statement said it's too soon to tell if he will play their upcoming games Romelu Lukaku was sent for scans by Belgium's medical staff on Monday after reporting for international duty with an ankle injury. The Manchester United striker, who has scored 15 goals in 12 games for club and country already this season, is understood to have suffered the injury in Saturday's win over Crystal Palace and did not train with the rest of the Belgium squad. A statement from the Belgian FA read: 'Romelu Lukaku underwent an MRI scan but no fracture or structural damage has been diagnosed. Romelu Lukaku has had scans after reporting for Belgium duty with an ankle injury. Jose Mourinho did not want to put any pressure on Belgium to rest the striker in their matches. Now Belgium may not have a choice after they stated Lukaku is a doubt for their two games 'In the next days he will follow an individual training programme. It is, however, too early to state that he won't be match fit for the Bosnia and/or Cyprus game.' Speaking before the Palace game, Jose Mourinho did not want to put pressure on Belgium coach Roberto Martinez to rest Lukaku against Bosnia and Cyprus after already qualifying for next summer's World Cup in first place in the group. 'Belgium is Roberto's responsibility,' said Mourinho. 'It's his decision to play him or not to play him. I cannot, professionally speaking, say do this or do that.' Meanwhile, Lukaku has denied holding an excessively loud party in Beverley Hills last summer. The 24-year-old did not appear in court in Los Angeles on Monday but his lawyer, Robert Humphreys, entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf. Lukaku was arrested on July 2, eight days before his £75m move from Everton to Old Trafford. He has been ordered to appear at Los Angeles Airport Courthouse on November 21. United's next Premier League match will be against Liverpool when the Premier League returns following the international break on October 14. Code:

Re: Punggawa United - tour of duty ... :)
International Reds: 15 United Stars on duty
The international break is upon us and no fewer than 15 Manchester United players have left the Aon Training Complex to represent their respective countries in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. We've rounded up the fixtures you should look out for, and which of Jose Mourinho's Reds will likely be in action… ARGENTINA (SERGIO ROMERO) United's back-up keeper is expected to start for Argentina in their crunch upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Peru on Friday and Ecuador five days later. Romero's side currently sit fifth in a tightly contested South American group, knowing that if they finish in fifth spot, they will face a play-off round in their quest to reach the finals in Russia. ARMENIA (HENRIKH MKHITARYAN) Mkhitaryan will spend next summer supporting his team-mates' international endeavours, as qualification for Russia 2018 is now impossible for Armenia. However, the attacking midfielder will look to lead his country with pride when they face Group E leaders Poland on Thursday, and then bottom side Kazakhstan at the Astana Arena. BELGIUM (ROMELU LUKAKU, MAROUANE FELLAINI) Belgium became the first European country to qualify for the World Cup in the last round of qualifiers, as they hammered Gibraltar 9-0, and then overcame Greece 2-1 at the Karaiskakis Stadium. United's two Belgian aces have been among the top players in the squad in recent weeks, and both will look to carry their form onto the international stage. ECUADOR (ANTONIO VALENCIA) Valencia's Ecuador currently sit eighth in the South American group and, after two disappointing defeats in September, their chances of qualification look very slim. However, the flying full-back will hope to inspire his side to victory in their final two matches against Chile and team-mate Romero's Argentina. ENGLAND (PHIL JONES, CHRIS SMALLING, JESSE LINGARD, MARCUS RASHFORD) Gareth Southgate's Three Lions are two points clear at the top of Group F, and need one win from their final two qualifiers to seal a place at Russia 2018. All four United representatives will be pushing for a starting berth on Thursday as England host Slovenia at Wembley, and again when the side travel to Vilnius to face Lithuania three days later. ITALY (MATTEO DARMIAN) The Azzurri currently lie second in Group G, three points behind Spain, who top the group, and six points clear of Albania in third. Darmian, who currently has 32 caps to his name, will hope to feature against Macedonia and Albania as his side hope for a slip-up by leaders Spain. Interestingly, Italy's clash with Albania in Shkoder will be the nation's 800th international match. IVORY COAST (ERIC BAILLY) Bailly has been a defensive mainstay for the Reds this term, and he will look to continue that fine form in the Elephants' penultimate qualifier against Mali on Thursday. Ivory Coast currently sit top of their group, and if they can secure a win this week, they will go a long way to securing their place in Russia. NETHERLANDS (DALEY BLIND) The Netherlands currently sit third in Group A, trailing Sweden and France respectively. Blind will look to help his side build on the 3-1 defeat of Bulgaria last time out, first against Belarus on Saturday night, and then when they host Sweden three days later, in a match which could potentially decide which nation goes into the play-offs, if France end up finishing top. SERBIA (NEMANJA MATIC) Slavoljub Muslin's side are four points clear at the top of Group D at the moment, and know a win in Austria on Friday will secure their place in Russia ahead of Republic of Ireland and Wales. Matic, who has been a regular in the Serbian engine room, will then hope to help his team finish their qualifying campaign in style against Georgia on the following Monday. SPAIN (DAVID DE GEA) De Gea's Spain are currently three points clear at the top of Group G, knowing a win against Albania will see their place at the finals all but sealed. And the 2010 winners could hardly be in better form for their crucial match as, last time out, they thrashed Liechtenstein 8-0. De Gea has kept six clean sheets in seven Premier League outings this term - he'll be looking to show his class again while on international duty. SWEDEN (VICTOR LINDELOF) Sweden are just one point behind Group A leaders France, and three ahead of the Netherlands in third, meaning if they can maintain their second-place position, they will secure a place in the play-offs. Lindelof has barely put a foot wrong for Sweden in their qualifying campaign, and he has been equally resolute in his four appearances for the Reds this term. Quote:

Re: Punggawa United - tour of duty ... :)
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will not be pushed 'too far' during the international break, claims Belgium manager Roberto Martinez
* Belgium face Bosnia and Herzegovina away in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday * Roberto Martinez's outfit then take on Cyprus just three days later at home * Belgium have already sealed their spot at the 2018 Russia World Cup Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has reassured Jose Mourinho that he will not take any risks with Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku over the international break. Lukaku, who was hurt in United's 4-0 win over Crystal Palace last weekend, has been cleared of any serious injury after having his ankle scanned while on international duty with Belgium. Belgium face Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday evening before taking on Cyprus at home just three days later in their final two World Cup qualifying games. Roberto Martinez claims he will not take any unnecessary risks with Romelu Lukaku. Martinez insists that Lukaku 'must be fully recovered' for Belgium's World Cup qualifiers. Martinez reveals that Marouane Fellaini will be ready for the Bosnia and Herzegovina clash And Martinez, who has already seen his side seal their place at the 2018 Russia World Cup, has been quick to reassure Mourinho that he will not push Lukaku too much over the international break despite revealing that he will make a late decision over his fitness on Friday ahead of the Bosnia game. 'Romelu has worked separately', Martinez said. 'We will make a decision about him on Friday but I think it will be difficult, even though we continue to hope. Romelu would like to join in, but he must be fully recovered. 'We will wait for as long as possible to make a decision and we also keep in touch with Manchester United. But they can be sure we will not push him too far.' Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini, who currently has a sore ankle that has continued to require treatment, is set to feature in Belgium's game with Bosnia as Martinez claims the midfielder has felt 'very strong'. Marouane is doing well, for the last 24 hours he feels very strong,' Martinez said. 'Today he has been well trained separately from the group. He will be ready [for Bosnia].' Code:

Re: Punggawa United - tour of duty ... :)
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho concerned by Belgium's plans to play Romelu Lukaku in meaningless World Cup qualifier
* Belgium preparing for World Cup qualifier against Cyprus on Tuesday * The team have already qualified for the World Cup finals as group winners * The game comes less than four days before Manchester United face Liverpool * Lukaku missed Belgium's win over Bosnia at the weekend with an ankle injury Jose Mourinho is concerned about Belgium's plans to play Romelu Lukaku in a meaningless World Cup qualifier against Cyprus on Tuesday - less than four days before Manchester United face Liverpool. Lukaku missed Belgium's win over Bosnia at the weekend with an ankle injury, but manager Roberto Martinez confirmed on Monday night that he is '100 per cent for and available' for selection after returning to training with the squad in Brussels. Belgium have already qualified for the World Cup finals as group winners and Mourinho is understood to be wary of his top scorer playing in a dead rubber against Cyprus so close to the Liverpool game at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime. Jose Mourinho is concerned about Belgium's plans to play Romelu Lukaku on Tuesday However, he will not interfere having insisted 10 days ago that the decision was down to Martinez. 'Romelu is fit and available, he's training with us tonight,' said Martinez. 'And, no, I have not received a call from Mourinho. The reason he wasn't in the squad in the previous game was because he wasn't 100 per cent. 'Now he is 100 per cent but we need to take into consideration that he has been with the group for only one session. He's been working on an individual basis, really good work, but we need to keep that in mind.' Lukaku has scored 11 goals in 10 games since moving to Old Trafford for £75million in the summer, and Mourinho will be desperate for the former Everton striker to be fit to face United's bitter rivals in one of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures of the season. Roberto Martinez confirmed on Monday night that Lukaku is '100 per cent for and available' Mourinho will be even more anxious that Lukaku avoids aggravating the injury after Marouane Fellaini was ruled out of the Liverpool game due to the knee injury he sustained in Belgium's win over Bosnia on Saturday. Fellaini strained the medial ligament in his left knee after landing awkwardly on an awful pitch in Sarajevo and returned to Carrington on Monday for treatment. He is expected to be out for at least two weeks. Martinez confirmed that he has not spoken to Mourinho directly about Fellaini but had informed United's medical staff of the injury. He added: 'He needs a further test with his club, but the swelling has to disappear completely to know for sure.' Code:

Re: Punggawa United - tour of duty ... :)
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho angry after Romelu Lukaku was risked in Belgium's World Cup clash with Cyprus
* Romelu Lukaku came off the bench in Belgium's victory over Cyprus on Tuesday * Roberto Martinez's side had already qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia * Manchester United's top scorer had only recently recovered from ankle injury * ‘If he plays he has recovered... It’s a very important match,' Mourinho joked Jose Mourinho could not hide his anger at Roberto Martinez’s handling of Manchester United top scorer, Romelu Lukaku, in Belgium’s World Cup clash with Cyprus. Martinez chose to bring Lukaku off the bench after 66 minutes on Tuesday night with Belgium already qualified for Russia and winning 3-0 — despite the striker having just recovered from an ankle injury. Lukaku made it 4-0 to the Belgians late on. Mourinho said: ‘If he plays it’s because he has recovered.’ Romelu Lukaku featured against Cyprus for Belgium having recently recovered from injury. Jose Mourinho was angered by the treatment of his forward while on international duty He added sarcastically: ‘It’s a very important match for them — they need the match to qualify so I just wait.’ Another Belgian, Marouane Fellaini, returned to Carrington with knee ligament damage and will miss the clash at Liverpool on Saturday lunchtime. Mourinho said: ‘We may cry with the process that leads to injuries but we do not cry because of injuries.’ Victory against Liverpool, who are without Sadio Mane after the forward was injured playing for Senegal, would mean United’s best ever start to a Premier League season. And Mourinho believes his side are better equipped this season. ‘At Anfield I’ve had great moments and I’ve had bad moments,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘They have had happiness against me, they have had very sad moments against me. If they respect me as much as I respect them, we are going to have another one of those matches. ‘I think we are a better team now. Does that mean we are going to be as successful as last season, winning two titles? I don’t know. But we are better.’ Code:

Re: Punggawa United - tour of duty ... :)
YOUNG ONE OF FOUR REDS IN ENGLAND SQUAD Ashley Young’s excellent form with Manchester United has been recognised by England manager Gareth Southgate, who has named the versatile Red in his latest Three Lions squad. Young has not played for England since a World Cup qualifying match against Ukraine on 10 September 2013, but has never given up on his dream of representing his country again. "His performances warrant it," said Southgate of Young. "We want to play with wing-backs. He's played very well for Manchester United. We generally want to look to younger players but, if a more senior player is playing well, we should include him. "He’s a player every Manchester United manager has picked, and that tells me something about his mentality and the trust they have in him." Phil Jones, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford have also been named in Southgate’s squad for the upcoming friendly matches against Germany and Brazil at Wembley Stadium. The England boss was also asked about in-form Chris Smalling's omission and replied: "I have huge respect for him. I know what Chris can do. There are some young defenders and it's a great chance to look at them." RECOGNITION FOR YOUNG REDS Meanwhile, United youngsters Dean Henderson and Axel Tuanzebe have been named in the England Under-21s squad for their European Championship qualifier at Ukraine on Friday 10 November. Academy lads Ethan Laird, Jimmy Garner and Mason Greenwood are also included in the Under-17s group that will face Portugal, Russia and Germany in the coming weeks (8/11/14 November). www.manutd.com |

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial earns recall to France squad after strong upturn of form
* Anthony Martial has been drafted back into the France national squad * The forward has been in strong form recently for Manchester United * Martial was the match winner in United's 1-0 victory over high-flying Tottenham Anthony Martial has reaped the rewards of his recent resurgence at Manchester United by receiving a recall to the France national squad, named by coach Didier Deschamps on Thursday. The United forward has made the Les Bleus squad for friendlies at home to Wales on November 10 and away to Germany four days later. Martial was a member of France's European Championship squad last summer, but has not played for the national side since October 2016 when he came on as a substitute in a 1-0 win over Holland. Anthony Martial's strong form has been rewarded with a recall to the France national squad. Manager Didier Deschamps has been pleased with Martial and suggested he will start him Martial scored United's goal in a 1-0 home win against Tottenham in the Premier League last Saturday. Despite often being used as a substitute, Martial has six goals for United and Deschamps suggested he may start him in one of the games. 'He continues to be effective. He played at the Euro, had a difficult spell after that, and is coming back well,' Deschamps said. 'I can see that he's doing well coming off the bench, but I'm not going to limit him to a substitute's role.' Skillful Lyon forward Nabil Fekir was recalled after a flurry of goals, but Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema was again left out. Deschamps gave first call-ups to Sevilla midfielder Steven Nzonzi and 21-year-old Stuttgart defender Benjamin Pavard. Code:
