Re: Luis Antonio Valencia Mosquera
Selamat Valencia.

Amin. |

__________________ 07/09/2014 08:27 - ManUtd.com, Adam Marshall Valencia opts for an international break Antonio Valencia missed Ecuador's 4-0 win over Bolivia but interim coach Sixto Vizuete has quashed speculation that the Manchester United wing-back could consider retiring from international football. Vizuete addressed the situation before his team recorded an emphatic victory in Miami with another fixture still to come against Brazil in midweek. "I have spoken several times to him [Valencia] and he has not told me that," replied Vizuete, when asked if Valencia would stop playing for his country. "I do not think he will make that decision because he is a man who the selection [international side] wants and needs. He must prepare to represent the country." Vizuete went on to explain Valencia asked not to meet up for the international matches because he was still recovering from the physical and mental exertions of the World Cup and the early part of the Premier League season. It was felt a short break would enable the 29-year-old to get back to 100 per cent fitness and the request was accepted. However, the United man, who often plays in central midfield for Ecuador, could step down as captain after taking on the responsibility a year ago for a World Cup qualifier against Colombia. Vizuete admitted he was looking at other options for the role. |

Re: Luis Antonio Valencia Mosquera
How Antonio Valencia coped in his new central role for Man United alongside Daley Blind
It has been a very troubled start for Louis van Gaal since coming in over the summer. He has changed a lot of things and had to repair a squad that was labelled as “completely broken” by the Dutchman. He never quite imagined it would be like this when he arrived, but he is slowly adjusting and delivering the football United fans want to see again. The use of wingers and playing two strikers is what the Red Devils fans have been used to over the years and with that stance have remained some of the United old guard. Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia remain at Old Trafford while Bebe, Shinji Kagawa, Nani and Ryan Giggs have all departed. Read more at http://www.squawka.com/news/player-a...1ztqtOl85Ep.99 Chances have been given to the pair, but they’ve both failed to deliver any eye-catching performances thus far. Valencia has looked like his confidence has gone while Young looks like a player short of United quality. However, Valencia was the player who got another chance in Van Gaal’s side yesterday and he took it with both hands playing on the right of a diamond midfield. He partnered Rafael down the flank and the pair combined very well defensively and in attack against Everton. Daley Blind was again the holding midfielder while record signing Angel Di Maria played out on the left in the 2-1 win. Throughout the match United were tested and regularly had to maintain high levels of concentration which the Dutch manager has asked for since the slip ups. Recently United have been caught out in games against Swansea City and Leicester, but they were strong against a threatening Everton side who normally pose a constant threat with the ball. Valencia completed 82% of his passes Valencia played his part in the win and for once done the quiet man’s job that people rarely notice. Completing 82% of his passes, Valencia rarely gave the ball away other than when he attempted to release Rafael down the wing. Because of his natural ability to be a wide man in recent years, Leighton Baines was not able to attack as much as normal for the visitors with the pace of United a threat. Valencia passed to Rafael and Blind mainly throughout the game with the 24 year-old midfielder running the midfield during the first half. Blind has been a key signing this summer and the former Ajax man has come in and orchestrated things nicely in the middle of the park. United used Valencia as an outlet and he used his pace to help United gain yards up the pitch. He was also effective on the break with Rafael catching out the returning Steven Pienaar with a number of tackles. Valencia showed he was willing to take a card by committing 6 fouls. Even though the end product from the pair wasn’t the greatest, you could see that they had a good understanding after playing with one another under Sir Alex Ferguson for so long. But not only going forward was the Ecuador international good, he also performed his defensive duties against a side who enjoy passing the ball. Filling in at right-back for the first few games of the season, Valencia has improved in his tactical ability to fill in gaps making interceptions and putting pressure on the opposition. He did both yesterday and with that came his just reward with six interceptions. All but one of them came in Everton’s half and that highlights his good pressure while knowing his Brazilian team mate was behind him. Valencia recorded six interceptions against Everton United needed the win after suffering a couple setbacks and they now find themselves in fourth position. Goalkeeper David De Gea can take the credit for that with his last five minute heroics, but up until the last 20 minutes, United held firm and defended well with Valencia’s discipline another example of his display. Romelu Lukaku shifted out to the left to help Pienaar but he was still an isolated figure for the Toffees with Gareth Barry failing to pull the strings in midfield due to the marking of Valencia and Rafael. Disciplined and assured after being recalled to the side With the Ecuadorian given the nod in midfield he ensured he wasn’t to blame for any mistakes and he did his job. He remained in position and never left Rafael by himself as his heat map shows. It was a very professional performance from him and it’s something you can tell he was asked to do by Van Gaal. He kept it safe in possession and gave United an outlet on the right hand side when attacking. At 29 years of age his energy and pace is still there and with the Christmas period creeping up and injuries beginning to occur, Valencia is still the perfect squad man capable of delivering a top performance when needed.
