It May Not Be Long Before We Get To See Hope Solo Nude!

If you are one of Hope Solo’s 266,671 Twitter followers (as of today at 4:20 pm), you may have noticed the following message posted on her account yesterday:



You may have also noticed the following image of Hope dancing in a fountain wearing nothing but a bathrobe.



I’m no detective, but it doesn’t take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that Solo will be gracing the pages of ESPN: The Magazine’s “Body Issue” when it is released in October. And if the images of the US women’s goalkeeper are even half as sexy as those of Gina Carano from last year’s issue, I can’t wait to see them.

Sporting KC player professes his love to Hope Solo in rap form



If you're easily embarrassed by people reciting love poems to strangers, you might want to look away now. If not, prepare to enjoy.

The U.S. Women's National Team will play a friendly against Canada on Saturday and it's been preparing at MLS side Sporting Kansas City's training complex. So, Sporting KC striker C.J. Sapong decided to seize this opportunity to tell Hope Solo how he feels about her. In front of a few cameras and a several members of both their teams.

After introducing himself and telling her about his body fat percentage, C.J. makes her blush by revealing that he has a "poem/rap" for her. It starts a little slow, involves C.J. touching himself and when he gets to the part about wearing each other's clothes on the beach, she starts laughing and he says he "messed it all up." With a little reassurance from Hope and the growing crowd, C.J. started over with a little more confidence and found his rhythm. Then a friend beatboxed for the rap part of his performance highlighted by the line "angels really do exist and girl you are the proof."

His closer: "Hope Solo, Hope Solo, can you make my dream come true? There are no beaches in KC, but a hug from you will do." And it worked. Not only did he get the hug, but a surprise kiss on the neck that caused him to collapse on the ground in a heap of paralyzing joy.

And that's how C.J. Sapong won Thursday, Sept. 15.

Here’s Hope Solo and Alex Morgan Having A Dance Party



So while it’s not entirely fair on Alex Morgan that Hope Solo is presumably in training already for Dancing With The Stars, they were still pitted against each other to promote Nintendo Wii’s Just Dance videogame. I know the instinctual reaction any time two attractive women dance is to think it’s going to be hot, but this is actually far more comedic and even a little awkward since the lighting isn’t great, its filmed on a webcam, and if you’ve ever watched anyone play a dancing game for the first time you know that “sexy” is quite possibly the last adjective you’d use to describe it right after “wtf”. I’m also not sure why they play the game as “Sunny” and “Baby”, but the USWNT needs to put that on the back of their shirts.

Hope Solo ESPN Body Issue: The Year of Solo Continues with Latest Announcement

For being a shy person, Hope Solo sure does find a variety of ways to stay in the spotlight.

ESPN The Magazine has released the list of athletes set to appear in their annual “Body Issue” and Solo is one of the athletes on the list.

The “year of Hope” kicked off with her team’s emergence in the US Women’s World Cup. In case you’ve lived under a rock over the past few months, Solo was the goalie for the team and played spectacularly well until sudden death in the finals.

Since then, the whole country wants a piece of Solo and she is abiding.

It started with a commercial for the Wii video game titled “Just Dance Summer Party” where she and teammate Alex Morgan showed off their moves.

It was a precursor for her next venture as a contestant on season 13 of Dancing With The Stars. She is currently in the third round and isn’t doing too great. Yet she has turned into one of the biggest stars in the show and will likely keep getting the all-important fan vote. She is showcasing her dancing talents in front of almost 20 million viewers on a weekly basis.

Hope also decided to play Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash in a game of FIFA 2012 that doubled as a pretty funny commercial. On top of that, she was in a video that went viral involving a rookie for the MLS team Sporting KC. He read/rapped her a poem telling her is deepest and darkest feelings about the soccer idol.

Now it’s posing semi-nude in a major publication. I’m exhausted!

She will be joined by the likes of Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin, gymnast Alicia Sacramone, snowboarder Gretchen Bleiler, Mets shortstop Jose Reyes, tennis player Vera Zvonareva, speedskater Apolo Ohno and NHL player Ryan Kesler.

Solo is certainly capitalizing on all of her fame and the only question that remains is simple…what in the world is she going to get herself involved with next?

Hope Solo: Is Stripping for ESPN Body Issue Selling Out for Women's Soccer?

Hope Solo was one of the stars of the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany this summer. The USWMNT goalkeeper earned high praise for her performances, and was a deserving winner of the Golden Glove award.

Solo's athleticism and shot-stopping unquestionably played its part in winning over a new audience for women's soccer. Indeed, any notion of the women's game being devoid of passion and personality would have been soundly crushed by watching her heroics in the penalty shootout victory against Brazil.

This was a footballer with absolute belief in her abilities, stepping up on the biggest stage when her country needed her most. Just as she had during the USWMNT's run to gold at the 2008 Olympics, Solo showed a steely mental resolve in the heat of battle. She's a winner, and she knows it.

Then came Dancing with the Stars and the opportunity to turn all that sporting acclaim in hard currency. Sure, Solo has made some money from women's soccer, but nothing close to what her male counterparts bring home on a weekly basis. Why shouldn't she be rewarded financially?

Solo's certainly not the first sports star to don sequins, and she won't be the last. It's all good-natured fun, and arguably good publicity for the sport that made it all possible. If Solo can bring a bigger audience to women's soccer and make some money along the way, everyone's a winner. Right?

I say yes, but now we have to ask the same question of her looming appearance in ESPN The Magazine's third "Body Issue."

This time Solo will be stripping off. OK, it's billed as an "ode to the athletic form," and we're not talking cheap smut here, but ultimately Solo will be dining out on her sex appeal and titillating her way to wider fame. She's not the only one, but when you carry an entire sport to the masses, do you have a greater responsibility?

There will be those who think she does. There will be those who accuse Solo of selling out, of cheapening women's soccer by feeding the sexist stereotypes attached to every female sphere of athletic endeavour.

Remember when Brandy Chastain celebrated in her bra? You'll be reminded next week—that's for sure.

But just as Chastain had every right to celebrate that moment by removing her shirt, mimicking the actions of hundreds of male footballers in professional leagues all over the world, so too should Solo be free to get her kit off without judgement.

If it's OK for David Beckham, Freddie Ljungberg, Thierry Henry and Co. to get naked, then the same rules must surely apply to Solo?

The fact they don't makes Solo's appearance in "The Body Issue" all the more vital. Male sports stars have been trading on their sex appeal for decades, so why shouldn't women do the same?

After all, it's not Solo's sex symbol status that threatens to undermine women's soccer, it's the outdated stereotypes which continue to linger in the stuffy corridors of male thinking.

The only way to flush them out is to behave like they're not really there, and Solo's next star turn is as bold an act of defiance as I can think of.

All power to her, I say, and let all those who accuse her of selling out take a look at tapes of her keeping goal for the U.S. this summer—for those were the performances of an athlete with a dedication to her craft that matches anybody on the planet.

Hope Solo Gets Naked For The ESPN Cover, Waters The Grass

Hope Solo may have been playing coy about it, but we knew it was only a matter of time. She has now confirmed that she will be on the cover of (some issues of) ESPN’s Body Issue, sans clothes.

A tweet by America’s favorite goalkeeper earlier today confirmed it, and sure enough, ESPN’s got the whole gallery up of famous naked people who are in way better shape than any of us.

Klinsmann Incar Kemenangan Perdana Bersama AS

Behold The Insane Silverdome Plans That Could Bring MLS To The Motor City

One of the things that makes the constant MLS expansion chatter so intriguing is the tantalizing stadium plans that pop-up in concert with the bids. Detroit might not top most people’s list of candidate cities for an MLS franchise, but their stadium plans, if these renderings are accurate, are top-notch.

The group behind the MLS expansion bid in Detroit, a Toronto-based family real estate company, scooped up the unused Pontiac Silverdome (former home of the NFL Detroit Lions) for a paltry $583,000 back in 2009. The plan was to renovate the building into something that could lure an MLS team to the area. Since the purchase, the Silverdome’s new owners have staged international friendlies and Gold Cup matches in an effort to prove the efficacy of Detroit as a soccer market. But since the structure is ill-suited to being the home of an American team as is, the group made known their concept of a multi-purpose venue with three distinct arenas.

Yesterday, Motor City Supporters, a fan group leading the campaign for MLS in Detroit, posted an image of the plans for the new Silverdome. The plan would turn this:

The plans call for three venues in one, with the soccer stadium sitting above two 20,000-seat arenas. Rather than incorporate a stage into the soccer stadium as so many MLS teams have done in recent years, the Silverdome plans call for an entirely separate amphitheater that won’t interfere with the soccer operations.

The roof would also be changed, turning the dome into an open-air stadium.

The cost for this type of transformation would seem to be astronomical, but we’re crossing our fingers it gets done just because it looks amazing. In the meantime, we could do with some more renderings.
