Arsenal Women 2-3 Manchester United Women: Alessia Russo nets stoppage-time winner to complete dramatic late turnaround and end the Gunners' 15-match winning streak

* Man United went in front through Ella Toone in the first half at the Emirates
* Arsenal hit back through Frida Maanum and Laura Wienroither after the break
* Millie Turner got United back on level terms with five minutes remaining
* Alessia Russo netted the winning goal in stoppage time for United
* The result ends Arsenal's 15-match winning streak under Jonas Eidevall

Lionesses hero Alessia Russo scored a stoppage-time winner as Manchester United came from behind to end Arsenal’s record-breaking 14-match winning run.

The Gunners had won every match this season and looked like extending that to seven perfect games until two late headers - from Millie Turner then Russo - completed a last-gasp comeback in a superb advert for the Women’s Super League at the Emirates Stadium.

In a match that typified the cliche ‘game of two halves’, United dominated the first half and led at the break through Ella Toone, before the Gunners scored a quick pair of goals to go ahead.

Mille Turner also scored late on as United came from 2-1 down to turn the game around

And after ending Arsenal’s winning run - the longest in WSL history - United boss Marc Skinner has set them another Gunners record to smash.

‘I would love to sell out Old Trafford in a fortnight,’ said Skinner. United’s next match against Aston Villa on December 3 is expected to break the WSL attendance record set by Arsenal here in September. The 40,064 in this match was the second-highest in history.

‘I am the happiest man on the planet,’ added Skinner. ‘This team is a privilege to coach - I want to be the most successful team in the country.’

Ella Toone but United ahead in the first half after capitalising on Manuela Zinsberger's mistake

Skinner’s side deservedly led at the break after a goalkeeping howler from Manuela Zinsberger, who flapped at a cross to gift Toone a tap-in.

Arsenal improved and were level less than a minute after the restart. Frida Maanum drove from the 40-metre line - the markings from last week’s rugby league match here were still visible - to the edge of the box and scored via a wicked deflection off Maya Le Tissier.

The Gunners then led after a stellar Laura Wienroither volley but United summoned some late energy and peppered Zinsberger with a flurry of shots, before Turner and Russo headed home to complete a fantastic turnaround.

These sides are now level on 18 points at the WSL summit, though Chelsea will go top with a point on Sunday at Stamford Bridge against Tottenham.

Manchester City 1-1 Manchester United: Laura Coombs cancels out Leah Galton's first half strike to rescue a late point for the hosts in front of a packed Etihad Stadium as United's wait for WSL win over rivals goes on

* Laura Coombs' 58th minute goal secured a 1-1 draw in the Manchester derby
* Manchester United are still without a win over their city rivals in the league
* Leah Galton gave the visitors the lead on 27 minutes from an Ella Toone assist
* The Red Devils do still hold a three-point advantage over City in the WSL table
* More than 44,000 fans were packed into the Etihad Stadium for Sunday's clash

Just as it was starting to look like a power shift from the blue to the red half of Manchester was on the horizon, City reminded us why they have been the dominant force in the women’s game in these parts.

With the Blues’ eight domestic trophies in eight years, it is United who have been the ‘noisy neighbours’. The Red Devils, who re-formed in 2018, have been trying to knock City off their perch.

They may do that this season and this 1-1 draw keeps them three points ahead of their rivals. But they are still looking for their first derby win in the league after Laura Coombs cancelled out Leah Galton’s first half strike in front of a 44,259 strong crowd, the second highest attendance for a WSL match.

After back-to-back defeats in their opening two games, Gareth Taylor’s side had won six on the bounce before yesterday and there is still belief that they can push Chelsea and Arsenal for the title.

Galton had set United on the path to their first ever Manchester derby win in the WSL

‘We want to win the league,’ Taylor said. ‘I feel we have a really good team for the future. They're starting to gel and play well together. It's exciting. We've got ourselves into a good position in both competitions we are in.’

While a draw was probably a fair result, United were denied a last-minute penalty that VAR would no doubt have given had this been a Premier League fixture taking place here.

Alex Greenwood had tackled Lucia Garcia in the box fairly but the ball bounced off the defender’s outstretched hand and into the path of her goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck.

It is a point, though, that could prove crucial for United come the end of the season. They are desperate to finish in the Champions League places for the first time after narrowly missing out in the last two campaigns.

These are the types of games they need to win to ensure a place in the top three, but to have taken four points off City and Arsenal away from home is a decent return.

‘We've shown so much growth in the first half of the year,’ Skinner said. ‘I'm a hard person to please but I'm so proud. But we've done nothing yet. We can't just focus on those fixtures. We've still got lots to work on and to do. We will continue to evolve this team.’

United have been looking to knock City off their perch since reforming only four years ago. Just over 44,000 fans were packed in to the Etihad to watch Sunday's Manchester derby. City are three points behind United in the WSL standings, with the latter in fourth on 19 points

United took the lead in the 27th minute with the first real chance of the game. Galton cut inside Kerstin Casparij, played a one-two with Ella Toone and fired a low strike which deflected off Alex Greenwood and wrong-footed City goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck.

It was United who continued to have the better chances of the first half, as Leila Ouahabi was forced into a last-ditch tackle to prevent Nikita Parris getting to Hannah Blundell’s cross.

City’s build-up play had been slow and laboured but there was more urgency about them in the second half and 13 minutes after the break they were level.

Chloe Kelly’s cross was missed by Millie Turner and Coombs beat Maya Le Tissier to the ball to head past Mary Earps. Coombs has been at the heart of City’s midfield since the departure of Keira Walsh in the summer and this was her fourth goal of the season.

The hosts were on top and almost took the lead when Kelly’s shot from the right wing looped just over the bar. Turner then made an important interception to prevent Lauren Hemp getting on the end of Ouahabi’s cross.

Two big chances fell to either team as Khadija Shaw headed straight at Earps before Ellie Roebuck brilliantly kept out a Martha Thomas effort. United’s late penalty shout was the final action of the game but referee Abigail Byrne waved away their appeals.
