Default [2017/18] FA Cup

FA Cup's £9m-a-year renewal with Emirates dents Premier League winter break plan

* The FA's new Emirates deal until 2021 will impact on winter break discussions
* Premier League was eyeing FA Cup weekend slots in the crowded calendar
* Winter break seen as crucial in helping England perform better in tournaments
* They want replays scrapped and a mainly midweek knockout competition

The FA's agreement with Emirates to extend their FA Cup sponsorship until 2021 will impact on discussions around a winter break.

The £9million-a-year deal puts the FA Cup on a healthy footing for the next four seasons, just as the Premier League were eyeing the Cup's weekend slots in their ongoing bartering with the FA over the crowded calendar.

The Premier League's big bargaining chip is agreeing to a winter break — seen as crucial in helping England perform better in tournaments.

The Football Association have signed a new three-year sponsorship deal with Emirates

In return they want FA Cup replays scrapped and a mainly midweek knockout competition, keeping more Saturdays and Sundays free for the most lucrative foreign TV rights.

But with the FA now having four more years with a bluechip sponsor and a bumper guarantee for their overseas Cup rights, those FA Cup weekends are becoming an increasingly valuable commodity.

The FA Cup's global appeal was the key to Emirates signing on again when it was widely expected that they would not renew.

FA Cup set to be sponsored by electronics giant LG after £4m-a-year with Ladbrokes deal was terminated

* LG are set to sponsor the England football team and the FA Cup
* The deal will be worth around £4million a year to the Football Association
* Ladbrokes previously sponsored the FA Cup but had their deal cut short in June

The FA are set to sign new, blue-chip sponsorship for England and the FA Cup to replace the ditched gambling-sector contract with Ladbrokes.

Korean electronics giant LG, who have numerous sports sponsorship tie-ups around the globe, are understood to be close to agreeing a deal with the FA for around the £4million-a-year that Ladbrokes were paying.

It will be a relief for the FA to attract a proven sponsor in what is a crowded market with plenty of competition from other sports offering title opportunities.

The FA Cup is set to be sponsored by Korean electronics giant LG in deal worth £4m-a-year

LG's previous football sponsorships have included Bayer Leverkusen, Fulham, Boca Juniors and pre-season tournaments.

The Ladbrokes deal was terminated in June, only one season into a four-year agreement.

The FA board decided it was no longer appropriate for the ruling body to have a betting sponsorship when FA rules prevent anyone professionally involved in the sport from gambling on football.

FA CUP THIRD ROUND DRAW: Liverpool to face Everton at Anfield as Manchester City draw Burnley

* The fixtures for the third round of the FA Cup draw have now been decided
* Liverpool have been drawn to face local rivals Everton at Anfield
* Arsenal will make an away trip to go up against Nottingham Forrest
* Jose Mourinho's Manchester United will host Derby County at Old Trafford

A Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton was the pick of an exciting FA Cup third-round draw.

The Stanley Park rivals meet at Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League and that will again be the venue when they face each other over the first weekend of January.

Not since 1932 have they been drawn together at this stage of the competition, when Liverpool were 2-1 winners at Goodison Park.

More recently they met in the semi-final of 2012 when second-half goals from Liverpool's Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll reversed Nikica Jelavic's opener.

There remains a chance that this will be the first third round without a non-League team since 1925, but that did not detract from an intriguing draw.

Seventh-tier Hereford — the phoenix club formed in 2014 following the demise of old FA Cup giantkillers Hereford United — must first negotiate a home replay against League One Fleetwood Town if they are to entertain top-flight Leicester City.

Fellow non-League clubs Woking and AFC Flyde must also overcome replays if they are to earn trips to Aston Villa and Bournemouth respectively.

Elsewhere, there was the romance of another phoenix club, AFC Wimbledon, returning to Wembley to face Spurs, 30 years on from Wimbledon's victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup final.

Quote:

Birmingham City v Burton Albion

Liverpool v Everton

Manchester United v Derby County

Forest Green Rovers or Exeter City v West Bromwich Albion

Doncaster Rovers v Rochdale

Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Wimbledon

Middlesbrough v Sunderland

Fleetwood or Hereford v Leicester City

Blackburn Rovers or Crewe Alexandra v Hull City

Fulham v Southampton

Wycombe Wanderers v Preston North End

Norwich City v Chelsea

Gillingham or Carlisle United v Sheffield Wednesday

Ties will take place from 5-7 January 2018
Of the Premier League's other top-six clubs, leaders Manchester City host Burnley, Chelsea are away at Norwich City, Manchester United face Derby County at Old Trafford and Arsenal travel to Nottingham Forest.

Former Forest midfielder Jermaine Jenas — drawing the away teams alongside Glenn Hoddle — apologised after handing them such a difficult tie.

There is also the renewal of the fierce rivalry between Brighton and Crystal Palace — who played out a goalless draw in the league last week — while North-East adversaries Middlesbrough and Sunderland clash at the Riverside Stadium.

There is, however, a danger that Premier League clubs could play weakened teams in the third round.

A full round of top-flight fixtures takes place in the midweek before the cup, and this on the back of the busy festive programme. Indeed, Spurs play West Ham on Thursday, January 4 and Arsenal host Chelsea just 24 hours earlier.

Default Re: [2017/18] FA Cup

FA Cup 4th round fixtures: Manchester United will visit lowest-ranked team Yeovil while Tottenham will travel to South Wales to face Newport

* Manchester United will face League Two outfit Yeovil in the fourth round
* Manchester City will play away against the winners of Cardiff or Mansfied
* Liverpool and West Brom will play in the only definite all-Premier League draw
* All fourth round fixtures are set to be played on the weekend of January 26-29

Manchester United were sensationally drawn against the lowest-ranked team left in the FA Cup, Yeovil Town, for the fourth round of the FA Cup

The draw, which took place before Brighton and Crystal Palace's third-round tie at the AMEX Stadium, has pitted one of the most decorated side's in English football against the League Two outfit.

The Glovers, who sit 63 league places behind 12-time Cup winners United, downed Bradford in the last round to make it into the draw and have reaped the rewards with a dream fixture against Jose Mourinho's men.

Jose Mourinho's Manchester United were drawn against Yeovil in the FA Cup fourth round

Yeovil will welcome the English giants, who swept aside Derby in the last round, to the 9,665-capacity Huish Park at the end of the month.

Tottenham were also drawn against a League Two outfit and will travel to Rodney Parade to play Newport.

Mike Flynn's men beat Leeds in a dramatic third-round tie which saw Shawn McCoulsky net a decisive 89th-minute goal for the Welsh club to put them through to the fourth round.

Seven-time winners Liverpool and West Brom have been drawn against one another in the only tie certain to be an all-Premier League encounter.

Chelsea could host Newcastle, but Antonio Conte's side must first overcome Norwich — who held the Premier League champions to a goalless draw at Carrow Road last weekend — in next Tuesday's third-round replay.

Similarly, Bournemouth could host West Ham in a top-flight clash should both teams come through unscathed in their refire fixtures against Wigan and Shrewsbury respectively.

Premier League flyers Manchester City face a tasty trip to either Cardiff or Mansfield and Leicester must negotiate a replay against Fleetwood if they are to take on Peterborough at the ABAX Stadium.

Nottingham Forest, who knocked out current Cup holders Arsenal with a stunning 4-2 victory at the City Ground last Sunday, will travel to Championship outfit Hull as reward.

All fourth-round fixtures will be played on the weekend of January 26-29 January.

Manchester United's game against Yeovil moved to Friday night for TV broadcast as companies also select Tottenham and Liverpool games

* Manchester United were not shown on television for the game against Derby
* That ended a 13-year run of 58 straight televised FA Cup matches for United
* Picking the Yeovil game means their fans face a daunting nine-hour round trip
* Tottenham and Liverpool have both had their games moved on the Saturday

Manchester United's fans face a daunting nine-hour round trip on a Friday night after their FA Cup clash with Yeovil Town was selected for TV.

Jose Mourinho’s side will kick off the fourth-round weekend with their game against League Two opponents to be shown on BBC with a 7.55pm kick-off on January 26.

It comes after their win over Derby County in the last round was also held on a Friday night but not broadcast live, ending an extraordinary run of 58 televised Cup ties.

Jose Mourinho's Manchester United will face Yeovil Town on a Friday night in the FA Cup. But it means United supporters will face a daunting nine-hour round trip on a Friday night

After the Friday night action, Saturday will then be dominated by BT Sport.

They will then broadcast Liverpool v West Bromwich Albion on the night with a 7.45pm start – another long journey for Baggies supporters.

On the Sunday, BT will also show Newcastle United’s visit to either Chelsea or Norwich City at 1.30pm. BBC will then show Cardiff City or Mansfield Town v Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

Hasil Undian Babak Kelima Piala FA
Meylan Fredy Ismawan - detikSport

Sheffield Wednesday vs Notts County/Swansea

West Brom vs Southampton

Chelsea vs Hull

Leicester vs Sheffield United

Huddersfield/Birmingham vs Manchester United

Millwall/Rochdale vs Newport County atau Tottenham

Brighton vs Coventry

Wigan vs Manchester City

REDS LEARN FA CUP QUARTER-FINAL OPPONENTS

Manchester United will face Brighton & Hove Albion at home in the quarter-finals of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Reds will take on the Seagulls in a repeat of the 1983 FA Cup final, which we won 4-0 in a replay following an initial 2-2 draw at Wembley. Brighton, who are currently 14th in the Premier League, have also reached the last eight of the competition for the first time since 1986 after beating League Two side Coventry City 3-1 at the Amex Stadium.

The tie at Old Trafford next month is the reward for Jose Mourinho’s men after beating Huddersfield Town 2-0 in Saturday’s fifth-round tie at the John Smith’s Stadium, thanks to a brace from Romelu Lukaku.

United have already beaten Chris Hughton’s side in the Premier League at the Theatre of Dreams this season, when Ashley Young's shot cannoned in off Seagulls defender Lewis Dunk for an own goal which separated the sides in a 1-0 victory for the Reds back in November.

The Reds were ball no.5 in the draw, which was conducted by former United striker Michael Owen and ex-Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given from the BT Sport studios in Stratford, east London, on Saturday evening.

United are yet to concede a goal in the FA Cup this season and have progressed to the quarter-finals for a fourth successive year by virtue of beating Championship side Derby County 2-0 at home in round three and easing past League Two outfit Yeovil Town 4-0 at Huish Park, prior to seeing off Huddersfield.

The last-eight tie against Brighton will be played between 16 and 19 March, which means the Reds’ Premier League game against West Ham United at the London Stadium, scheduled for Sunday 18 March, will be rearranged for a new date.

There will be no replays in the quarter-finals, following a change to the rules last season.

EMIRATES FA CUP QUARTER-FINAL DRAW IN FULL:

Leicester City v Chelsea
Manchester United v Brighton & Hove Albion
Sheffield Wednesday/Swansea City v Rochdale/Tottenham Hotspur
Wigan Athletic/Manchester City v Southampton
