'When I play for my country, I'm always happy': Sanchez fires Chile into Copa America quarters, despite injury, as boss blames Manchester United problems for his dire club form

* Chile beat Ecuador 2-1 to book quarter-final place at the Copa America in Brazil
* Manchester United's Alexis Sanchez twisted his ankle during the first-half
* But he played on through the pain and scored the winner in the 51st minute
* Sanchez admitted he 'always plays happy' for his country in dig at United

Alexis Sanchez admitted he is 'always playing happy' for his country Chile in what could be perceived as a dig at Manchester United after overcoming a twisted ankle to score their Copa America winner against Ecuador.

Playing in pain after getting hurt in the first half, Sanchez scored a second-half winner to give Chile a 2-1 victory and a spot in the last eight of the South American competition on Friday.

Sanchez stayed in the game after taking pain pills and scored in the 51st minute at the Arena Fonte Nova, securing the two-time defending champions a place in the knockout stage.

Alexis Sanchez scored Chile's winner against Ecuador to take them into the quarter-finals. Sanchez celebrates with team-mate Arturo Vidal as they beat Ecuador at the Copa America

'I twisted my ankle. I kept playing for the love I have for this national team,' he said. 'When I play for my country, I'm always playing happy.'

Sanchez found the far corner with a clever first time shot over Ecuador goalkeeper Alexander Dominguez after a cross by Charles Aranguiz.

It was the second goal of the tournament for the Chilean forward, who was coming off a difficult season with Manchester United and recovered from another ankle injury - on the right leg - just in time for the Copa America.

Sanchez, who earns around £500,000-a-week at Old Trafford, scored just twice in 27 matches for United during another injury-plagued campaign.

'Fortunately it wasn't the same ankle he injured with Manchester United,' said Chile coach Reinaldo Rueda, adding that team doctors considered the 30-year-old Sanchez could continue playing on Friday after undergoing ice treatment.

'He is motivated when he is with the national team.

'It's not easy to explain, but Alexis has come here and shown a lot of commitment and perhaps in Manchester he does not have the emotional bond he has with his team mates here, that affection.

'He's had bad fortune because Manchester United have had problems for a while, so he does not have the structure he has here. He has also had injuries, he's lacked consistency, he has lacked continuity.'

It was Sanchez's 43rd goal with Chile, who are seeking their third straight Copa title a year after not making it to the World Cup in Russia.

Jose Pedro Fuenzalida put Chile ahead with a strike in the eighth minute and Enner Valencia equalized for Ecuador from the penalty spot in the 26th.

Ecuador played the final minutes with a man down after defender Gabriel Achilier was sent off for elbowing Chile midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The victory gave Chile the lead in Group C with six points, two more than second-place Uruguay, which on Thursday drew 2-2 with Japan. The Japanese squad has one point and Ecuador stayed with zero.

The top two teams in each of the three groups advance, along with the best two third-place finishers.

The Chilean win guaranteed Uruguay will finish at least third in the group.

In the last round on Monday, Chile face Uruguay at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, while Ecuador take on Japan at the Mineirao Stadium in Belo Horizonte.

Chile had opened with a 4-0 rout of Japan, while Ecuador lost by the same score to Uruguay.

Alexis Sanchez has slammed critics who 'talked s**t about him after leading Chile to the Copa America semi-finals.

The Manchester United forward fired his country into the last four by netting the winning penalty in a shootout against Colombia on Saturday.

Sanchez has endured a torrid past 18 months since deciding to leave Arsenal to join United, but is experiencing a mini revival in Chile colours.

Alexis Sanchez slammed critics who 'talked s**t about him after leading Chile to semi-finals. Sanchez scored the winning penalty to fire his country through to the Copa America last-four

The 30-year-old has been the standout performer for his country at this summer's Copa America and is the joint top scorer in the competition with two goals.

Sanchez was quick to hit out at his doubters on social media after Saturday's crucial victory.

He posted a photo of him celebrating without a shirt after his goal set Chile up for a Copa America semi-finals clash against Peru and wrote: 'They profited, they healed, they talked 's**t about me. And I stayed quiet.

'They slandered, they even locked in on me, but there is a judge up above (there is one up there).'

His words were quoted lyrics from Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Farruko's song 'Delincuente'.

We had a deal! Alexis Sanchez agreed to new Arsenal contract before his last-minute switch to Manchester United, says former transfer chief

* Alexis Sanchez left Arsenal to join rivals Manchester United back in January 2018
* The Chile star was close to signing a new deal at the Emirates Stadium
* He left in a swap with Henrikh Mkhitaryan with six months left on his contract
* '(His agent) and I shook hands... we had the deal done,' claimed Dick Law

Alexis Sanchez agreed to a new Arsenal contract before staging a last minute U-turn, according to the club's former transfer negotiator Dick Law.

The Chilean was close to signing a new deal in December 2016 before he changed his mind.

He eventually left in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan to join Manchester United in January 2018, with just six months left on his contract.

'We had a deal,' Law told Goal.

'It was in December and we had been talking to his agent (Fernando Felicevich) throughout all of 2016, the whole year. We got to December, I flew to Santiago and we did the deal.

'The player agreed to it on a phone call from Fernando's office. Fernando and I shook hands and discussed how difficult the negotiation had been and we had the deal done.

'The contract team drafted the new contract and sent it over to the lawyers representing Sanchez and in that space of time, while the documents were being proofed, he changed his mind for whatever reason.

'We don't know who got to the player, or why he changed his mind. But the bottom line was, he did.'

Sanchez ended his Arsenal career with an impressive return of 80 goals and 45 assits in 166 appearances.

In contrast he has struggled since moving to Old Trafford, netting only five goals in 45 appearances - despite being United's highest earner with a basic salary of £350,000 per week.

Solskjaer Masih Percaya Alexis Sanchez Mampu Sumbang Banyak Gol
Lucas Aditya - detikSport

Sanchez masih belum optimal bersama Man United.

Alexis Sanchez could be 'made to train with Man United RESERVES' with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer willing 'to pay' towards £500,000-a-week wage to tempt top European clubs

* Alexis Sanchez will reportedly be banished to the reserves if he stays at the club
* Manchester United are believed to be desperate to get Sanchez off the wage bill
* United are willing to pay a large portion of his £500,000 wages to tempt clubs
* It also emerged that Sanchez was involved in bust-up with Mason Greenwood

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to banish Alexis Sanchez to train with the reserves unless he agrees to a move away, according to The Sun.

Manchester United are said to be desperate to get Sanchez, who earns an eye-watering £500,000-a-week, off the wage bill before the European transfer window shuts on September 2.

Roma are currently the only potential suitors and are considering a love move for Sanchez, but his salary is likely to be a stumbling block in talks.

United are reportedly willing to share the burden of Sanchez's wages and will pay a large percentage of them to tempt other top European clubs.

Solskjaer does not see a future for Sanchez at Old Trafford and is concerned that the club will have to fork out another £8.6millon on his wages until they get another chance to sell him in January.

The 30-year-old's United career was plunged further into the darkness after it emerged he was involved in a training-ground bust-up with Mason Greenwood - a player Solskjaer is fond of - during pre-season.

Alexis Sanchez could be dumped into the reserves if he doesn't agree to leave to Man United. It emerged that Sanchez was involved in a training-ground bust-up with Mason Greenwood. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer originally had Sanchez in his plans but he will only play bit-part role now

Sanchez only featured 16 times for United in all competitions under Solskjaer, scoring just the one goal.

The Chile international has been training away from United's Carrington training ground as he looks to recover from the hamstring injury he sustained in July.

Solskjear had originally envisioned Sanchez in his plans for the season, but it is now believed that he will only play a bit-part role and will be mainly reduced to Cup competitions if he stays at the club.

Before the start of the season last week, the United boss said: 'Alexis has come in and trained well.

'He's four or five weeks behind the boys and has not played apart from the one behind closed doors here, so I think he'll see [Lukaku's exit] as an opportunity as well to make his mark.

'I do expect him to stay, there's a striker there who we think is going to be able to score some goals.'

Default Re: Alexis Sanchez

No wonder they can’t shift him! Alexis Sanchez costs Manchester United an eye-watering £560k-A-WEEK as club face paying huge chunk of Chilean’s wages to force Serie A move

* Alexis Sanchez wants to leave Man Utd but clubs aren't willing to pay his wages
* He signed a four-year deal worth £560,000 a week when he signed in 2018
* Sanchez earns a basic salary of £300,000 a week, plus £100,000 in image rights
* Other bonuses increase ex-Arsenal star's salary by a further £160,000 a week
* Clubs in Italy don't want to pay a big transfer fee or match Sanchez's salary

The staggering terms of Alexis Sanchez's contract at Manchester United can be revealed, as the Chile star's career continues to stagnate at Old Trafford.

The astronomical deal United offered Sanchez when he signed from Arsenal 19 months ago made him the highest paid player in the Premier League. But it is now proving to be a major obstacle in finding a new club prepared to take on the 30-year-old.

The total bill for signing Sanchez could potentially cost United up to £560,000 per week, once all aspects of the four-and-a-half-year deal are factored in. Sportsmail has learned that he earns a basic salary of £300,000 a week, plus an additional net payment of £100,000 a week from a £5million-a-year image rights deal.

Alexis Sanchez's eye-watering £560,000-a-week deal is putting off interested parties. Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli are interested in Sanchez but can't afford his current wages. Sanchez has endured a nightmare 19 months at Old Trafford and has scored just five goals

United must also pay £5m in agent's fees over the course of the contract to the player's representative Fernando Felicevich. That's the equivalent of £21,370 a week.

It's understood the club inserted a £5m clause into the deal, payable if Sanchez makes 30 starts in a single season — even though he started only 13 times in all competitions last term.

Additional bonuses and employers' national insurance payments take the potential overall figure to £560,000 a week if Sanchez is successful.

As it is, Sanchez has flopped dramatically — scoring just five goals in 45 games for United. But the terms are still proving prohibitive to any clubs looking to take a player who has three years left on his contract.

As much as Sanchez wants to make a fresh start elsewhere, he is unlikely to take a pay cut. The former Udinese forward has been linked with a return to Italy with Juventus, Inter Milan or Napoli before the European transfer window closes on September 2.

None, though, want to pay a big transfer fee or match Sanchez's salary. So United face having to subsidise a significant chunk of his wages if he goes on loan.

It has been a dramatic fall from grace for a player who arrived to such fanfare in January 2018 after United pulled out all the stops to hijack his move to Manchester City.

They were prepared to swap Sanchez with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who was valued at £35m, even though the Chilean only had a few months left on his contract at Arsenal before becoming a free agent. United also hoped Sanchez would help promote their brand in South America, where Spanish clubs have traditionally dominated.

It has not turned out that way, as Sanchez struggled for form and fitness. Sanchez wasn't missed on the pre-season tour this summer while on international duty at the Copa America, where he sustained an ankle injury that has set his pre-season preparations back even further.

Sanchez now finds himself behind Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Dan James and possibly even teenager Mason Greenwood in United's pecking order as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turns to a more youthful forward line.

Solskjaer has warned that he will not pick players he doesn't want simply because they have stayed at the club this summer. That applies, too, to Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian, who could still leave this month

Sanchez dan Inter Jalin Kesepakatan Pribadi?
Randy Prasatya - detikSport

Jakarta - Alexis Sanchez santer dikabarkan bakal meninggalkan Manchester United.

Randy Prasatya - detikSport

Udine - Antonio Di Natale mendukung Alexis Sanchez gabung Inter Milan.

Segera Gabung Inter Milan, Sanchez Minta Nomor 7
Okdwitya Karina Sari - detikSport

'Let's see what happens in the coming weeks': Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coy on Alexis Sanchez's future as Old Trafford flop closes in on loan move to Inter Milan

* Solskjaer has admitted Sanchez could leave the club in the coming weeks
* The Chilean wants a move to Italy and Inter Milan are putting together a deal
* The Serie A club have until the European transfer deadline on September 2

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted Alexis Sanchez could leave Manchester United in the coming weeks, with Inter Milan among the clubs showing interest in the forward.

Having failed to get anywhere near his best since joining from Arsenal in January 2018, the United manager appeared to end any talk of the Chilean leaving during Friday's press conference.

Solskjaer spoke about his belief that Sanchez would come good at United - but three days on the Norwegian opened the door to the Premier League's highest-paid player making an exit.

Asked about Sanchez's future after Monday's 1-1 draw at Wolves, Solskjaer said: "Well, there's still a couple of weeks left of the transfer window and there is a chance... some clubs have shown interest in Alexis, so we'll see what happens.

"Can't update you more than that."

Inter Milan expect to have a firm idea of whether a deal to sign Sanchez can be struck to sign over the next two days.

Manchester United are open to letting the Chilean leave Old Trafford before the European transfer deadline on September 2.

Sportsmail understands Sanchez wants a move to Italy and Inter are in the process of putting together a financial package.

The forward – who is close to new Inter signing Romelu Lukaku - earns a basic wage of £300,000 a week, with £100,000 worth of image rights on top. Inter would need United to subsidise part of his salary.
