Watford telah meresmikan Walter
Mazzarri sebagai pelatih kepala baru
mereka.

Mantan pelatih Sampdoria, Napoli dan
Inter Milan berusia 54 tahun ini, telah

akan efektif bekerja di Vicarage Road
mulai tanggal 1 Juli.

Dia menggantikan Quique Sanchez
Flores, yang memandu Watford ke
peringkat 13 klasemen Barclays Premier
League di 2015/16.

"Walter telah menjadi incaran sejumlah
klub, sehingga kami senang bisa
mendapatkannya sebagai pelatih
kepala di Watford, sebagaimana
dijelaskan CEO klub Watford, Scott
Duxbury kepada watfordfc.com.

"Kami benar-benar menantikan bisa
bekerja sama dengan pelatih yang
sangat dihormati, dimana peningkatan
dan perkembangan klub selalu menjadi
prioritas utama kami."

Sebelumnya, Mazzarri sempat
membawa Sampdoria melenggang ke
final Coppa Italia pada musim 2008/09,
dan memenangkan kompetisi tersebut
bersama Napoli di 2011/12, sebelum
membawa klub yang sama finis
sebagai runner-up di Serie A musim

Watford announce Walter Mazzari as their new manager who replaces Quique Sanchez Flores after agreeing three-year contract

* Walter Mazzarri will replace Quique Sanchez Flores as Watford manager
* Flores guided club to Premier League safety and FA Cup semi-final
* The 54-year-old has previously managed Sampdoria, Inter Milan and Napoli
* Mazzarri has been learning English in preparation for life in Premier League

Watford have announced the appointment of Walter Mazzarri as their new head coach on a three-year contract.

The 54-year-old replaces Quique Sanchez Flores at Vicarage Road, who departed the club after a break clause was activated in his contract, to become the Hornets' eighth manager in the last four years.

Italian Mazzarri arrives with plenty of coaching experience having managed the likes of Sampdoria, Napoli and Inter Milan in his home country, and it has also been revealed that he has been learning English in preparation for life in the Premier League.

Watford are set to announce former Inter Milan and Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri as their new manager

Sportsmail revealed Watford's interest in Mazzarri and he has previously been looked at by Swansea City, Liverpool and Sunderland.

Flores led Watford to a 13th place finish in the club's first season back in the Premier League and also took them to the semi-finals of the FA Cup where they were beaten by Crystal Palace.

But owner Gino Pozzo was said to be concerned by the Hornets' slump in the second half of the campaign and felt a change was warranted, despite the widespread confusion over the decision.

Watford's chief executive Scott Duxbury told the club's official website: 'Walter has been the target of a number of approaches for his services, so we're delighted to secure him as head coach here at Watford.

'We're thoroughly looking forward to working with such a highly-regarded coach, with the progress and development of the club always remaining the highest priority.'

Mazzarri has been out of work since leaving Inter in 2014, but reached the Coppa Italia final with both Sampdoria and Napoli, before leading the latter to a runners-up finish in Serie A in 2012-13.

Manchester United paid Jose Mourinho £4m to stay away from rivals as former Chelsea boss prepares to sign £75m five-year deal

* Manchester United paid Jose Mourinho £4million to stop him joining rivals
* Former Chelsea boss will be on £75m five-year deal with £200m to spend
* Mourinho refused to accept a 'behavioural clause' in big-money deal
* An agreement with Mourinho was reached midway through the season
* Louis van Gaal was told of his sacking by his wife Truus after FA Cup win

Jose Mourinho was paid a staggering £4million by Manchester United not to take a job elsewhere while they decided the future of Louis van Gaal.

An agreement was reached midway through the season to give United the option of bringing him in if Van Gaal failed to meet their targets.

Sportsmail can also reveal that Mourinho refused to accept a 'behavioural clause' in his five-year, £75m deal despite concerns among the United hierarchy over his eccentric touchline behaviour.

The former Chelsea boss is understood to have been paid £4m to stop him joining rival clubs this season

The 53-year-old was fined £229,900 and received two stadium bans during his two spells at Chelsea and United are desperate to avoid the negative publicity those incidents generated.

However, Mourinho refused to agree during negotiations in January, highlighting his strong bargaining position as United's season unravelled. Unlike Manchester City's pre-contract deal with Pep Guardiola, the unique arrangement with Mourinho was merely to ensure he would be available if required.

Had Van Gaal been deemed to have been a success, by whatever criteria United laid down, he would have stayed for the last year of his contract. The deal was first reported by Spanish newspaper El Pais in March.

As it is, former Chelsea manager Mourinho will have £200m to spend on new players as United, who lifted the FA Cup on Saturday, plot a route back to the top of the English game after missing out on a top-four spot for the second time in three seasons.

United hope to have their transfer business completed by the end of Euro 2016 to ensure their manager has his squad in place when they return to training.

The club wanted to keep the agreement with Mourinho secret from Van Gaal, who was his boss at Barcelona, but by Sunday afternoon the United hierarchy were left embarrassed by another PR own goal.

The fact Van Gaal knew he had lost his job within minutes of winning the FA Cup is considered by senior figures as more shameful than the departure of David Moyes, who learned of his own dismissal from media reports before executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had the opportunity to inform him personally.

At Wembley on Saturday it was Van Gaal's wife Truus who told him she had seen the story on the BBC website shortly before he was due to give his post-match press conference.

Mrs Van Gaal was said to be extremely upset, which would explain the tetchy nature of the exchanges her husband then had with the media. He is also understood to be furious with his Old Trafford employers.

News of Mourinho's appointment, which is expected to be confirmed on Tuesday, was not leaked by United. But Woodward will face questions about how Van Gaal's moment of triumph was marred by such public humiliation.

Once again the pressure will be on Woodward to appoint a more experienced director of football to handle football matters while he retains control of off-the-field business.

Van Gaal had a meal with his coaching staff on Saturday night and will now prepare to leave Manchester, with a future role at the club considered extremely unlikely given his anger at the situation.

The Dutchman and his wife had immersed themselves in life in Manchester. They were regulars at restaurants in the Cheshire village of Hale, while Truus had become an active member of local sports clubs.

On Sunday night the future of Ryan Giggs was still unclear. He will be disappointed not to have succeeded Van Gaal but club insiders believe he wants to stay at United and hope the prospect of working with Mourinho will keep him at Old Trafford.

The players would like Giggs to stay, given the central role he plays. When they have 11 v 11 practice two days before a game it is Giggs who organises the opposing team to mirror the side United will face. He also works directly with the players on set-pieces.

Woodward, it is understood, met Mourinho in London on Sunday with a view to confirming the appointment on Tuesday.

By Sunday sources were providing some insight into why it was felt United had to make a change, and not just because of their failure to qualify for next season's Champions League.

The relationship between Van Gaal and his players had become fractured, with senior players exasperated as much with his failure to control the younger professionals as they were with some of his methods.

Requests not to post their personal videos of the Upton Park bus attack on social media were ignored, while there was a suspicion among some members of the dressing room that players were pulling out of games simply because 'they didn't fancy it', only to train the next day.

Van Gaal's insistence on playing a more regimented style of football became a problem for some of the flair players, with one senior pro telling the Dutchman he intended to play his natural game because following orders would result in him being dropped again.

David de Gea, as revealed last week, would have asked to leave Old Trafford had Van Gaal been allowed to remain in charge for a third season.

Some of the players would certainly like Mourinho to shake things up a little. Stories of younger professionals asking catering staff to boil them an egg to take home is one measure of how soft the environment has become since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

The players would also like Mourinho to challenge Woodward over commercial demands. After they suffered that crushing 3-2 defeat at West Ham at the end of the season, the players had to report to Old Trafford the next morning to drive miniature Chevrolets around the car park.

Mourinho has already identified the players he wants to sign ahead of his arrival, with 23-year-old Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario one of his principal targets.

Manuel Pellegrini in talks over Everton job as Toffees step up search for new manager

* Everton are on the search for a new boss after sacking Roberto Martinez
* Manuel Pellegrini has met with Farhad Moshiri, Everton’s new investor
* Chilean just finished a successful three year spell with Manchester City
* Southampton’s Ronald Koeman, and Frank De Boer also being considered

Everton have held talks with Manuel Pellegrini as they step up their search for a new manager.

It is 10 days since Roberto Martinez was sacked and Everton are now committed to making strides to find his replacement, with a number of high-profile options being discussed, including Sevilla’s Unai Emery,

Pellegrini, who has just finished a successful three year spell with Manchester City, is understood to have met with Farhad Moshiri, Everton’s new major investor, to discuss his suitability to succeed Martinez.

Manuel Pellegrini applauds the Manchester City fans on the pitch following his final game at the club

The idea of managing Everton would appeal to Pellegrini, as he would be able to continue in the Barclays Premier League without having to leave his current base in the North West.

It is far from certain, though, that Pellegrini will be chosen to oversee the project Moshiri has in mind for Everton and a number of other candidates will be met this week.

They include the bookmakers’ favourite, Southampton’s Ronald Koeman, and Frank De Boer, who has just left his position at Ajax. Both men share the same agent, Guido Albers.

Koeman, who has led Southampton into the Europa League, has been noncommittal about his future, with 12 months remaining on his contract at St Mary’s.

Another contender is the highly-regarded Emery, who last week masterminded the 3-1 defeat of Liverpool in Basel that clinched the remarkable feat for Sevilla of winning the Europa League for three consecutive years.

Emery, who was interviewed for the position Sam Allardyce vacated at West Ham 12 months ago, is admired at Goodison Park and the club want to find out whether he is intent on managing in England.

David Moyes - who enjoyed tremendous consistency during his spell as Everton manager between 2002 and 2013 - also remains under consideration.

This will be a summer of sweeping change at Everton. They could lose as many as 10 players from the current squad, including John Stones and Romelu Lukaku, who has made it clear he expects to find a new club soon.

Chelsea - who sold him to Everton in 2014 - are in the race to sign Lukaku, as they are with Stones, who is also a target for in-coming Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Moshiri, however, is committed to providing the new manager with the biggest transfer kitty in Everton’s history as he aims to make a statement having acquired a controlling 49.9per cent share in the club in February.

Rafa Benitez goes from Real Madrid to the Championship in 12 months after staying on as Newcastle boss on three-year deal

* Newcastle have confirmed Rafa Benitez will remain as manager at the club
* Spaniard declined to take up release clause in his contract after relegation
* Former Liverpool boss commits to a three-year deal at St James' Park
* Magpies say Benitez 'will have day-to-day responsibility for all football-related matters' on Tyneside

Rafa Benitez has been assured that he does not have to sell any Newcastle players despite their relegation from the Premier League and only agreed to stay on as manager after being given total control over all football matters at the club.

The Magpies will lose around £40million in revenue next season and owner Mike Ashley had stated as recently as March that there was ‘virtually nothing left’ in the bank account.

But Benitez believes he now has the guarantees needed to make an immediate return to the top flight and even spoke of emulating Sir Bobby Robson, the last manager to bring Champions League football to St James’ Park.

‘I am here because I am convinced we can go up next season, stay there for a long time and even win trophies,’ said the 56-year-old, who was reconfirmed as boss on a three-year deal.

‘I would like to build something. I would like to be close to Sir Bobby, that would be fantastic.’

Benitez, who has spent the past week drawing up a list of summer transfer targets, insists he is under no pressure to offload high-earning stars such as Andros Townsend, Georginio Wijnaldum and Moussa Sissoko.

He added: ‘Football business, I will have responsibility of. The main thing is that I have assurances we will have a strong team and a winning team.

‘What I have is the assurance that if I don't want to sell any players I don't have to. We can keep all the players who we want.’

Rafa Benitez has committed his future to Newcastle by agreeing a new, three-year contract with the Magpies

Sportsmail revealed on May 10 that Benitez was no longer set on activating the relegation break clause in his contract.

And the Spaniard says the potential of the club, as well as the support he received from fans after taking charge for the final 10 games of the season, has persuaded him to remain in the second tier.

‘It is a challenge, yes. I have won trophies all my career,’ he said.

'The reason for me to stay was the fans, the stature of the club and the future.

‘Now it is time for a new project, a new challenge. I can see the possibilities and the size of the club and the potential. Everything is massive and I want to be a part of it. I will start working immediately so we can be big - the first thing is promotion.’

Meanwhile, chief scout Graham Carr is now expected to remain at the club, at least in the short term, although a club statement confirmed: 'Benitez will have day-to-day responsibility for all football-related matters at the club'.

Benitez told Newcastle's official website: 'The love I could feel from the fans was a big influence for me in my decision to stay, as was my relationship with Lee Charnley and all the staff.

'This is a huge club and I wanted to be part of the great future I can see for Newcastle United.'

And while he will have to come to terms with getting down to business as grounds such as Rotherham's New York Stadium and Brentford's Griffin Park, he is well aware that the Championship will not surrender and allow Newcastle an instant return to the top flight.

'The Championship is one of the strongest leagues,' he said. 'It's a challenge.

'There are good teams. We need experience and your (fans') support.

'We have to start working - when I finish this press conference, I will start working.'

Charnley added: 'When we brought Rafa to the club in March, we knew he was a phenomenal manager and everything we have seen from him since has only served to reinforce that.

'We are therefore delighted to have secured his services for the next three years and I believe with Rafa as manager it gives us the best possible chance of returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking and delivering success for this football club beyond that.

'It is clear that Rafa has connected deeply with the club's supporters and we do not underestimate the role they have played in his decision to stay.

'He has captured the hearts and minds not just of the fans, but of everyone who has had the pleasure of working with him at the club thus far.

'As a world-class manager we had no doubt in our minds as to the importance of retaining him at Newcastle United.'
