Old Trafford: Torben Aakjaer sacked by Manchester United

Manchester United have fired one of their scouts after allegations he posted anti-immigration on a social media website.

A report in the Guardian claims Torben Aakjaer published the posts on Facebook, but they now appear to have been removed.

United suspended Aakjaer after the allegations came to light and after a brief investigation, they sacked the Dane.

"We have terminated our association with him (Aakjaer)," a United spokesman said on Wednesday night.

Responding to the initial claims, United issued a statement which ended: "Manchester United is an inclusive organisation and will not tolerate this sort of behaviour."

Aakjaer, who has previously worked at Hamburg, started scouting for United in 2011.

On his Instagram page, the Dane has posted several pictures of the club's training ground in Carrington which he described as his "working place".

Aakjaer posted a selfie with United winger Nani and he also published a picture of a letter he received from Sir Alex Ferguson wishing him well on his wedding day.

Manchester United claim top spot of the Premier League Twitter table with Stoke City bottom of the pile on social media

* Manchester United come out on top of post-season statistics from Twitter
* The Red Devils eclipse Premier League champions Chelsea for most posts
* Juan Mata's bicycle kick against Liverpool generated largest single spike
* Arsenal still have the most number of Twitter followers with 5.8million

Manchester United may have lost their dominance over the Premier League but they are top of the table when it comes to social media.

End-of-season statistics produced by Twitter show the Red Devils featured heavily both in key moments and overall.

A league table based on Twitter conversations throughout the campaign put United ahead of champions Chelsea, with Arsenal third and Liverpool fourth. Stoke came bottom.

However, Arsenal are the club with most followers (5.8million) ahead of Chelsea (5.6m) and United (5.1m)

The moment which generated the largest single spike was Juan Mata's bicycle kick in United's 2-1 win at Liverpool on March 22 - a result which had a pivotal bearing on the race for the final Champions League qualifying spot.

Second was United striker Robin van Persie's last-minute equaliser against Chelsea in October - with Didier Drogba's opener in that match the third-largest single spike.

United's win at Liverpool was the most-tweeted-about match - Steven Gerrard seeing red as a substitute - with their 3-0 victory over their arch-rivals in December next.

United in fact featured in the top four most-tweeted matches - against Manchester City in April and Chelsea in October the others - with Chelsea's 2-0 win in the London derby at home to Arsenal taking fifth place.

Robin van Persie made it a United one and two with his last-gasp finish against Chelsea in October

Stoke City would have been relegated from the Premier League - if it was decided on Twitter conversations

Radamel Falcao struggled during his loan with United but he makes Twitter's alternative team of the year

However, Louis van Gaal, despite some entertaining moments in his maiden season at Old Trafford, came second to Chelsea's Jose Mourinho - who else - in the list of most-discussed managers.

The most talked about referee was Michael Oliver.

United also had three players in Twitter's Dream Team, based on mentions.

Goalkeeper David de Gea, full back Luke Shaw and on-loan striker Radamel Falcao all featured with Manchester City (Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta) and Arsenal (Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil) both having two representatives.

Cesc Fabregas was Chelsea's only player in the 4-3-3 line-up, which would not be complete without Liverpool's Mario Balotelli.

Tingkat kebisingan suporter The Blues hanya mencapai 0,12 persen.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, LeBron James and Rafael Nadal among top 10 most valuable sports stars on Twitter

* Cristiano Ronaldo's tweets are worth £169,280 to sponsors per post
* The Real Madrid superstar has over 37.7million followers on Twitter
* Manchester United star Wayne Rooney and Neymar also feature in top four

Ever wondered why Cristiano Ronaldo has taken to Twitter to promote a Portuguese tailoring company or why Wayne Rooney has decided to post a picture of Nike's latest golf shoes?

Money is the answer. Research has shown the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney and Neymar can command thousands of pounds per tweet from some of the world's biggest sponsors.

The top 10 most valuable sports stars on Twitter do not stop short at footballers as NBA's LeBron James and Kevin Durant also feature in the list.

Ronaldo could have pocketed an estimated £169,280 for recently tweeting about a Nike product

Rafael Nadal is the only tennis player to feature in the top 10 due to his 8.43million following on the popular social media website.

It probably comes as no surprise that Real Madrid forward Ronaldo is the most valuable sports star to sponsors when it comes to the world of Twitter as he has a staggering 37.7m followers.

Spanish newspaper AS and advertising agency Opendorse have revealed one tweet posted by Ronaldo to market a product or service is worth an estimated £169,280 to a sponsor.

Ronaldo has the 13th highest most followers with the former Manchester United star only overshadowed by the likes of Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Barack Obama.

Cleveland Cavaliers small forward James follows Ronaldo in second with 23.6m followers. The NBA star, who has an enormous following in the US, can earn up to £92,323 per tweet.

Barcelona forward Neymar and United captain Rooney are third and fourth respectively, while Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant is fifth due his 11.7m followers.

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, who is sponsored by adidas, can pocket an estimated £33,120 per tweet from the German sportswear company should he choose to tweet about their latest product.

Barcelona and Brazil forward Neymar has a sponsored Nike advertisement in his Twitter cover photo

South American trio Radamel Falcao, Sergio Aguero and James Rodriguez also feature in the top 10, while Nadal comes in at ninth with his posts being worth £29,972 per tweet.

The majority of the aforementioned sports stars are wearing a branded item of clothing or piece of footwear in their Twitter display picture.

Rooney and Neymar both don Nike tops in their profile pictures, while Ronaldo is pictured holding up a customised football boot.

Nadal's Twitter cover photo is of him playing tennis in Nike sportswear, while King James sports a Nike jumper in his profile picture.

Money talks as they say.
