Default Re: Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez could be set for Manchester United stay after Anthony Martial's injury 'puts Inter Milan move in doubt'

* Manchester United are sweating on the fitness of French star Anthony Martial
* The forward picked up a knock to the thigh during the defeat to Crystal Palace
* United are waiting on results from a scan to assess the scale of damage
* Alexis Sanchez's proposed move to Inter Milan could be pulled as a result

Manchester United's plans to sell Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan look set to be placed on hold while the club waits for news on Anthony Martial's thigh injury.

The Frenchman picked up a knock during the recent 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford, causing concern among Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's coaching staff.

Martial has undertaken scans on the injured area, and United will wait for the results to come in before deciding what should be done with Sanchez, according to the Guardian.

Alexis Sanchez could see his proposed move to Inter Milan called off by Manchester United

Following the defeat Solskjaer played down the injury to Martial, and another of his team-mates in Luke Shaw.

'We'll have to wait and see,' said the Norwegian.

'Hopefully they won't be too bad and maybe we can have them training during the week.'

Martial was seen limping following the conclusion of the match, and any possible long-term absence is likely to keep Sanchez at Old Trafford.

The £52million signing has endured a tumultuous time of it in Manchester since joining in January 2018, netting only three times in 32 appearances, while struggling to find consistency for Solskjaer's side.

A move away has been viewed as the most positive step for all parties involved.

But Sportsmail understands the San Siro club are planning on offering Sanchez a contract worth no more than £150,000-per-week if they decide to make the deal permanent next summer.

Jika Tetap di MU, Sanchez Takkan Main Sama Sekali di Premier League
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detikSport

Benarkah demikian?

Default Re: Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez is the piano player United couldn't get a tune out of: From miserable lonely training ground meals to struggling with pressure... here's how he became the ultimate Premier League flop

* Alexis Sanchez leaves Manchester United on loan following a disastrous spell
* Despite earning £500,000 a week, Sanchez scored just five goals for United
* United will pay part of Sanchez's wages while he is on loan at Inter Milan
* Injuries affected Sanchez and he struggled to bond with his team-mates

Manchester United hoped that Alexis Sanchez would be the man to kickstart their resurgence but, just 19 months after his arrival at Old Trafford, the winger is joining Inter Milan on loan having endured a miserable time at the club.

Sanchez arrived at United in January 2018 as part of a swap that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan head to Arsenal and at the time it seemed that the Red Devils were getting the better deal.

While Mkhitaryan has also been hugely disappointing for the Gunners, Sanchez's struggles in Manchester have been significantly worse, with United getting very little in return for paying the Chilean a staggering £500,000 a week.

Alexis Sanchez is leaving Manchester United on loan after a miserable spell at Old Trafford. Sanchez was unveiled by United in a Twitter video showing him playing the piano

By the end Sanchez's difficulties had become such an issue that both the club and the player were seeking a solution as quickly as possible. United will pay £4.5million of Sanchez's £21million annual salary while he is on loan and there is no obligation for Inter to make the deal permanent.

A player of whom so much was expected ended up being one of United's biggest flops, with injuries, struggles off the field and disappointing displays all adding up to a deal that went horribly wrong.

United announced Sanchez's arrival with a cringeworthy video of the Chilean playing the piano, which was widely mocked on social media. That, though, was not nearly as embarrassing as some of his performances on the pitch.

Sanchez leaves United on loan with a woeful return of just five goals and nine assists in 45 appearances.

Sanchez scored just five goals for United despite being paid a staggering £500,000 a week. Injuries didn't help Sanchez's cause and he also struggled to bond with his team-mates

Perhaps United should have seen this coming. Sanchez's final half a season at Arsenal may have seen him score eight goals, but he lacked his usual spark, perhaps as a consequence of over-exerting himself in previous years both at club level and for Chile, for whom he frequently featured in summer international tournaments.

Still, aged 29 when he joined, it was thought that Sanchez would still have much to offer United in their quest to challenge Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table.

What United got though is a player who was a shadow of his former self. Sanchez's touch was often heavy, his previous dynamism a distant memory.

Sanchez's struggles can also be partly attributed to his struggles off the pitch as he failed to fit in with the United squad.

At the club's Carrington training ground, Sanchez was frequently miserable and often elected to eat alone rather than with his team-mates.

Quote:
SANCHEZ'S MANCHESTER UNITED STATS

2017-18:

Premier League - 12 games, 2 goals, 3 assists

Champions League - 2 games

FA Cup - 4 games, 1 goal, 2 assists

2018-19:

Premier League - 20 games, 1 goal, 3 assists

Champions League - 4 games

FA Cup - 3 games, 1 goal, 1 assist

Total - 45 games, 5 goals, 9 assists
Although he got an assist on his debut against Yeovil in the FA Cup and scored against Huddersfield in the Premier League early on, matters quickly went downhill for Sanchez, with injuries certainly not helping his cause.

In December 2018, Sanchez missed a host of games due to a hamstring problem, while he was sidelined with an ankle problem between March and April this year.

United tried their best to accommodate Sanchez and get the best out of him as he was deployed in various positions, including either wing, as a second striker and up front on different occasions.

Nothing seemed to work, however, and, after finding it difficult under Jose Mourinho, Sanchez ended up being dropped from the starting lineup with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge as he was frequently named among the substitutes in the latter stages of last season.

There were some positive moments, such as his goal in the victory against his former club Arsenal in the FA Cup last season, but in the main Sanchez was woeful.

One of Sanchez's worst performances came in a Champions League defeat at home to Sevilla in March 2018 as he frequently squandered possession and appeared devoid of confidence.

The Chile international lacked his usual spark and frequently squandered possession. United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer defended Sanchez publicly but still dropped him

Sanchez joins the likes of Memphis Depay and Angel Di Maria who were unable to cope with the pressure of the iconic No 7 shirt at United, but Sanchez was arguably even worse than those two and seemed weighed down by the expectations placed upon him.

It appeared Sanchez's problems also had a hugely negative effect on United overall, and it became apparent that it was for the best that he was dropped altogether, with Solskjaer instead turning his attention to younger players, such as summer arrival Daniel James.

Solskjaer defended Sanchez publicly, telling the club's official website: 'Alexis is such a professional. He comes in every single day, working really hard, and he wants to be a part of this. Of course, there have been [media] stories again, [saying] that he has been put in the Reserves. Of course he hasn't!'

In truth Sanchez had fallen out of favour and there was no way back for him into the United team.

Sanchez was supposed to help make Manchester United great again but he leaves without having won a trophy at the club and with his reputation as a star performer having been hugely damaged.

Karena Sanchez Memang Harus Tinggalkan Man United
Okdwitya Karina Sari - detikSport

"Saya pikir memang Alexis mesti pergi," ucap Solskjaer mengatakan dilansir Metro. "Karena saat ini kami tahu dia sudah di sini 18 bulan dan ini benar-benar tidak berhasil untuk dia."

"Untuk dia juga supaya memulai kembali dan mendapat kesempatan bermain secara reguler, bisa mencetak gol, dan peminjaman itu akan menguntungkan bagi semuanya pada akhirnya."

"Bagi kami, kami akan menyaksikan Romelu dan Alexis bermain bersama setiap pekannya," simpul Solskjaer.

'If they let me play a full game, I would win it': Alexis Sanchez says he wasn't given enough chances at United in parting swipe after his Inter loan move as he insists he DOESN'T regret swapping Arsenal for Old Trafford riches

* Alexis Sanchez is on a season-long loan move to Inter Milan from Man United
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considered him surplus to requirements at Old Trafford
* Sanchez scored only five goals in 45 games at Old Trafford on enormous wage
* He broke silence and says if he was given more game time then he would shine

Alexis Sanchez has broken his silence over his sorry spell at Manchester United.

The Chilean, United's highest paid player on £560,000, only managed to scored five times in 45 games for the club since joining in 2017.

Having been loaned out to Inter Milan for the season, the 30-year-old insists the reason he flopped at Old Trafford is because he wasn't given a consistent amount of game time.

'If they let me play a full game, I would win it', Sanchez declared.

'But sometimes I'd have 60 minutes and not play the next game and I didn't know why.'

And when grilled about why his international form was so far superior to his performances in club colours, Sanchez said his happiness was factor, along with the lack of minutes.

'I think that I'm very happy when I play for my national team,' he reasoned.

'I was happy at Manchester United too, but I've always said to my friends I want to play. If they let me play, I'll do my best.'

But despite his parting swipe, the former Arsenal and Barcelona forward insisted he has no regrets over his decision to pick United over City when leaving the Gunners two years ago.

Quote:
SANCHEZ'S MAN UNITED STATS:

2017-18: Premier League - 12 games, 2 goals, 3 assists

Champions League - 2 games

2018-19: Premier League - 20 games, 1 goal, 3 assists

Champions League - 4 games

FA Cup - 3 games, 1 goal, 1 assist

Total - 45 games, 5 goals, 9 assists

Alexis Sanchez failed to make the grade at Manchester United and is on loan at Inter Milan. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considered the forward surplus to requirements this season

'No I don't regret going there, I'm very happy I went to Manchester United, I've always said that.

'It's the club that has won the most in England and when I was at Arsenal it was fantastic, I was happy there.

'But Manchester United were growing at the time. They were buying players to win something and I wanted to join them and win everything.'

Sanchez joined the club in January of 2017 as part of a swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way.

Much was expected of the new man given his pedigree and the eye-watering wage he was picking up but he failed to impress under Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese was not alone in his assessment. When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took the helm many believed it to be a prime opportunity for Sanchez to have a fresh start but it was the same story.

Solskjaer has insisted Sanchez's United career is far from over but as he enters the last few seasons of his career, it would take a remarkable turnaround to prove himself at Old Trafford.

Default Re: Alexis Sanchez

Are you sure, Alexis? Man United flop Sanchez claimed he would have succeeded at Old Trafford if he was allowed to play the full 90 minutes... but the stats tell a different story

* Alexis Sanchez had joined Inter Milan on loan for the season from Man United
* Chilean endured a torrid 18 months at Old Trafford after signing from Arsenal
* He claims he would have done better if he'd played the full 90 minutes
* But Sanchez only won five of 10 matches he completed for United
* And in those games he managed to score just the one goal

In what might be described as a parting shot, Alexis Sanchez suggested he would have been a success at Manchester United if only he'd played the full 90 minutes.

Breaking his silence on a torrid 18 months at Old Trafford after starting a season-long loan with Inter Milan, Sanchez sought to explain why he'd been such an expensive failure at United.

'If they let me play a full game, I would win it,' Sanchez asserted.

'But sometimes I'd have 60 minutes and not play the next game and I didn't know why.'

It's a little dig at the managerial styles of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but actually it is the memory of Sanchez that is hazy.

He completed the full 90 minutes in just 10 matches for United in all competitions and, of those, United won five and lost the other five.

What's more, far from proving a match-winner, the Chilean scored just one goal in the 10 matches he played from start to finish.

Alexis Sanchez has left Manchester United and joined Inter Milan on loan for the season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer considered the forward surplus to requirements this season. Jose Mourinho only played Sanchez for the entire match on 10 occasions in 18 months

This complete lack of impact, and an overall return of just five goals in 45 matches for United while on wages of over £500,000-a-week, help explain why Solskjaer was so desperate to offload Sanchez this summer.

It seems a long time ago now since the excitement generated by Sanchez's arrival from Arsenal in the January transfer window of 2018 and his piano-playing introduction to the United fanbase.

It's also long forgotten that Sanchez actually started a good number of matches early on and usually completed them.

Quote:
SANCHEZ COMPLETED MATCHES FOR MAN UNITED

Date------------------Opposition-------Comp.--H/A----Score-----Goals
January 31, 2018--Tottenham Hotspur----PL-----A-----Lost 0-2-----0
February 3, 2018--Huddersfield Town-----PL-----H-----Won 2-0-----1
February 11, 2018-Newcastle United------PL-----A-----Lost 0-1-----0
March 5, 2018-----Crystal Palace---------PL-----A----Won 3-2------0
March 13, 2018----Sevilla----------------CL-----H----Lost 1-2------0
April 15, 2018-----West Bromwich--------PL-----H-----Lost 0-1-----0
April 29, 2018-----Arsenal----------------PL-----H-----Won 2-1-----0
May 13, 2018-----Watford---------------PL-----H-----Won 1-0-----0
May 19, 2018-----Chelsea---------------FAC--Wembley-Lost 0-1----0
August 10, 2018---Leicester City---------PL-----H------Won2-1-----0
He played the full 90 minutes in Premier League games against Tottenham, Huddersfield, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, West Brom, Arsenal, West Ham and Watford during his first half-season with United.

Sanchez was also fully involved in United's 2-1 home defeat to Sevilla that saw them eliminated from the Champions League at the last-16 stage.

Sanchez did score against Huddersfield in February 2018 - the only goal he scored for the club while also completing the full 90 minutes

And in the FA Cup, he completed the Wembley final against Chelsea, which United lost 1-0 thanks to Eden Hazard's winner.

But while Sanchez was chipping in with the odd goal and a few assists at this point, his presence in the side was hardly a guarantee of a positive outcome.

It was last season that things truly unravelled for Sanchez. He completed the full 90 in United's season opener, a 2-1 win over Leicester, but didn't play another full game after that.

He started nine Premier League, two FA Cup and two Champions League fixtures thereafter but was substituted off on each occasion.

Sanchez suffered various injury frustrations but his performances in between were lacklustre and far from good enough to nail down a starting spot.

It didn't take Solskjaer long to conclude after taking over on a caretaker basis that Sanchez was surplus to requirements.

Now it remains to be seen whether he will complete more matches with Inter and whether a return to Italy will resurrect his career.
