Glazer Diserang, Man United Batalkan Acara Bincang-Bincang dengan Fans
Rifqi Ardita Widianto - detikSport

Jakarta - Manchester United dikabarkan membatalkan sebuah acara di MUTV bertajuk 'Paddy Crerand Show'.

Manchester United fans' group slam pay rise handed to Ed Woodward and insist club will not be debt free until 2177 as they release scathing letter condemning Glazer regime for their running of club

* 'Millions of Concerned Manchester United fans' wrote to Manchester United
* The group behind it outlined their concerns over how the Glazer family ran club
* Letter predicted it would take 158 years to pay debt accumulated since takeover
* They also expressed anger at a recent pay rise for chief executive Ed Woodward

A Manchester United fans' group have delivered an open letter to the club expressing their anger and concern over the current ownership, and demanding answers to a list of five questions.

These questions cover the plans for clearing debt, Ed Woodward's pay rise, servicing the debt, where money from shares has gone and an update on the search for a director of football.

In the letter, the Voice Of United group claim it would take 158 years to pay off the debt accumulated since the Glazer family bought the club in 2005.

Co-chairmen Joel Glazer (L) and Avram Glazer (R) have been criticised in the letter from fans. The letter questions why executive vice chairman Ed Woodward was given a large pay rise

Only £44million of the more than £660m borrowed to buy the club 14 years ago has been paid back, while around £750m has been used just to service the debt.

The letter opens by recalling the club's glory days and their past successes, before contrasting it to the confusion and apathy currently surrounding the operation.

It also claims the 'decline on the pitch is aggravated by what is happening off it', while insisting the fans now feel more like customers.

The letter specifically slammed the recent pay rise awarded to chief executive Ed Woodward, claiming he now earns £4.182m - a 60 per cent pay increase on his £2.604m annual salary.

It asks the question: 'Given the obvious failure on the football side during his six year tenure as EVC on what basis was that raise given?'

The group also demand an update on the current situation around whether a director of football will be appointed and what their role will be.

The group end the page-and-a-half letter listing key moments from the club history and stating: 'Not only do we always endure, we always thrive.

'They are in our DNA. You are not.'

Quote:
THE FIVE QUESTIONS

1) What are your plans to clear the debt in a realistic, suitable timeframe?

2) Given the obvious failure on the football side during Ed Woodward's six year tenure as EVC on what basis was his raise given?'

3) Since 2005, over £750m has been spent servicing debt. What are the plans to reduce those fees over the coming years?

4) Shares in MUFC have raised around £452m. Can you detail how much of that has been invested back into the club (if any)?

5) Has there been any progress made in the search for a director of football? If so, what will be there role, will they have any power to make decisions?

The Glazer family 'don't expect a title challenge from Manchester United next season EITHER' as they prepare a three-year plan for their 'cultural reset'

* Manchester United look a shadow of their former selves with current displays
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has invested in youth but club are currently eighth
* The Glazer family have a three-year plan to restore the club to former glory
* They do not expect to be able to challenge for Premier League until 2021

Manchester United's owners do not expect the club to challenge for the Premier League until 2021 at the earliest.

The Glazers have given the green light to a three-year plan that will attempt to revive United and bring back silverware.

They accept that there is a chasm between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side and the title contenders and believe it will take three years to challenge again, according to ESPN.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are not expected to challenge for the Premier League until 2021

United are currently eighth in the Premier League and look a shadow of their former selves under Sir Alex Ferguson in the glory years.

Bitter rivals Manchester City and Liverpool lead the charge both domestically and in Europe, so there is a major rethink happening at Old Trafford.

The club have not lifted the Premier League since 2012-13 and sources say that the owners will be patient in waiting for the 'cultural reset' that Ed Woodward promised last season.

Kevin Glazer 'prepared to sell 13% stake in Manchester United' worth around £270m after revenue falls for the first time in years and Chevrolet decline to renew deal

* Kevin Glazer is one of six Glazer siblings to own a stake in Manchester United
* According to reports Kevin is interested in selling his 13 per cent stake
* The Glazers have been unpopular among United supporters since taking over
* United have spent £1billion on transfers since 2013 under the Glazers' tenure

Kevin Glazer is rumoured to be selling his stake in Manchester United amid news that the club will suffer a fall in revenue for the first time in years.

Kevin is one of six Glazer siblings to own a stake in the club, having inherited their combined 90% stake after their father Malcolm, who bought the club 14 years ago, passed away.

However, recent developments relating to the club's revenue shortcomings and the announcement that Chevrolet have declined to renew their £450million deal to be shirtfront sponsor, has left Kevin seeking to sell his stake.

Kevin Glazer is rumoured to be looking to sell his 13 per cent share in Man United. Fans have vented their frustrations at the owner and chief executive Ed Woodward recently

According to The Sun, Kevin has transferred all his B class shares into A class stock, indicating that the Glazer sibling is looking to sell up - with A class shares available to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Glazers have endured a turbulent spell since Malcolm took control in 2005, with fans venting their frustrations of late with the owners' apparent lack of ambition perhaps best highlighted by the continuing failings of chief executive Ed Woodward.

Fans have been quick to point the finger at the club hierarchy for their side's poor start to the campaign, rather than blaming club legend and current manager Ole Gunner Solskjaer.

Under the Glazer's ownership, United have spent a whopping £1billion on transfers since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013, with only a handful of those signings being considered a success.

Long-time shirtfront sponsors Chevrolet announced they would not renew their £450m deal

The Glazers and Woodward sanctioned the signings of, among others, Fred for £52million, Angel Di Maria for £60million, while free transfer Alexis Sanchez was handed a £400,000-per-week deal.

Kevin's shares are believed to be worth approximately £270million, although any sale will not necessarily signal the end of the Glazer's tenure at Old Trafford.

Trading rules outline that any individual or company that take control of Kevin's shares will require specific guarantees that mean other shareholders are unable to sell their stakes for a certain period of time.

Some Glazer siblings are also rumoured to be interested in selling, while others are keen to keep hold of their shares. An approach from Saudi Arabia was disregarded in early 2019.

United are currently 12th in the Premier League, having lost 1-0 to Newcastle United in their most recent fixture before the current international break.

'They're in it for the long-term': Ed Woodward insists the Glazer family will not sell Manchester United despite suggestions rulers of Saudi Arabia will make a takeover bid for the club

* The Americans have been unpopular among fans since acquiring United in 2005
* Reports suggest that Saudi’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is interested
* But Ed Woodward claims the Glazer family want to remain in charge of club

Ed Woodword insists Manchester United’s owners the Glazer family have no plans to sell the club and ‘are in it for the long-term’ despite speculation over a takeover bid from the rulers of Saudi Arabia.

The Americans have been unpopular among many fans since acquiring United in 2005, and are coming under renewed attack following the club’s poor start to the season.

It has coincided with reports that Saudi’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is prepared to pay in excess of £3billion to buy United, but Woodward claims the Glazers want to remain at the helm and have not held any discussions about selling up.

Ed Woodward has insisted that the Glazer family (Avram Glazer, right) do not want to sell

‘Based on what I see, they're in it for the long-term,’ said United’s executive vice-chairman

‘With regards to offers or asking prices, my understanding is that there have been no discussions for a price for the club or anything like that. Every conversation we have is based on the long-term.’

One of the main criticisms of the Glazers is the debt saddled on United by their leveraged £780m buyout which currently stands at £511m.

But in an interview with fanzine United We Stand, Woodward played down that figure, saying: ‘The debt is a long-term, structured and similar to some other football clubs.

‘It's a fixed amount for a fixed period of time which results in it being fairly cheap to service.

‘It's just under two per cent our annual revenue each year, so it doesn't really have any impact on us.’

Manchester United announce that co-owner Avram Glazer will sell £71.5m worth of his shares in the club... but the Red Devils will not see a penny of it

* Co-chairman Avram Glazer will see five million of his Manchester United shares
* None of the proceeds raised will go towards the club following the shares' sales
* The Glazer ownership is now set to drop from 78 per cent to 74.9 per cent
* However, no further shares are expected be sold by any of the Glazer family

Manchester United have announced that majority owner Avram Glazer is selling five million of his shares in the club.

If the shares are sold at their current value, Glazer could earn $100m (£71.5m) of which none of the proceeds will go directly towards the club.

None of his five siblings including co-chairman Joel Glazer are thought to be considering selling their stakes in the Premier League side.

Avram (left) and Joel Glazer are the co-chairman of Manchester United with the former looking to sell £71.5million worth of his shares of which none will go towards the club. Despite the Glazers' ownership dropping from 78 per cent to 74.9 per cent, it is understood that the American family remain committed to running Manchester United

Avram himself is also understood not to be planning on selling any more for the foreseeable future and he and the rest of his family remain committed to running the club.

As a result of the sale, the Glazer family's ownership stake of United is set to drop from 78 per cent to 74.9 per cent with the offering of the shares expected to close on Tuesday.

The Class A Ordinary Shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol 'MANU' with the official selling shareholder as the Avram Glazer Irrevocable Exempt Trust.

After the closure of the NYSE on Thursday the shares were priced at $20.13 each (£14.39).

United's finances have taken a hit as a result of the coronavirus pandemic losing around £100million of their income following the recent publication of their finances

The American family purchased the club in 2005 under the siblings' father Malcolm Glazer when they bought the Red Devils through a £790 million leveraged buyout.

Throughout their ownership they have been largely despised by supporters

Avram and Joel have been co-chairman since the death of Malcolm in 2014.

The news comes a week after United were forced to borrow £60million in reaction to their financial struggles as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

This followed a move last year where the club United took out a £200m rolling credit facility as a safety precaution against a significant drop in revenue.

Despite their status as one of the world's biggest clubs, it is estimated that they lost over £100m in income as a result of the pandemic.

Supporters have been banned from attending games for a vast majority of the 12 months, while TV revenues have been hit as a result of the pandemic.

The Red Devils revealed that matchday income had fallen a huge 94.2 per cent from £55.2m to £3.2m over the corresponding six months in 2019

The club's net debt has risen by 16.4 per cent to £455.5m, while United's revenue was down 7.2 per cent year-on-year to £281.8m with profit dropping by 6.9 per cent to £33.8m.

This was despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men having returned to the Champions League group stage which provided more lucrative financial benefits as opposed to the Europa League from previous figures.

Manchester United chairman Joel Glazer FINALLY apologises to fans for his role in failed European Super League power grab, and insists 'we also realise that we need to better communicate with you' - after 16 years of silence at Old Trafford

* Joel Glazer 'apologises unreservedly' for his role in the European Super League
* The Manchester United chairman wore an open letter to the club's fanbase
* United were heavily criticised for being one of the driving forces in the project
* In a rare public statement, Glazer says he needs to 'get better at communicating'

Manchester United co-chairman Joel Glazer has admitted they 'got it wrong' in being one of the main driving forces behind the now-collapsed European Super League and has 'apologised unreservedly' to the club's fans over the whole saga.

In a letter penned to United supporters less than 24 hours after the club withdrew from the Super League following fierce backlash, Glazer also admitted that he and members of the board need to 'be better at communicating' with the fanbase.

In what is a rare public address from the 50-year-old, Glazer acknowledged that his role in the £4.6bn scheme 'failed to show enough respect for [football's] deep-rooted traditions' and said he was now 'personally committed to rebuilding trust with our fans'.

Manchester United chief Joel Glazer (right) has apologised to fans for the Super League

Following the announcement of the European Super League on Sunday, Glazer was named as one of the vice-chairman for the competition along with Liverpool owner John Henry and Juventus' Andrea Agnelli.

However, following fan revolt all over Europe, the Premier League's 'Big Six' all withdrew from the project, leaving the breakaway league in tatters.

While Glazer was heavily scrutinised by Gary Neville for his role in the Super League, the United legend took aim at Glazer again on Wednesday, claiming the club's paltry three-line statement that they were withdrawing from the Super League was 'the worst communication' he's ever seen.

The short and blunt statement included no apology to the fans or showed any signs or remorse for joining, leaving fans even more incensed on Wednesday.

Fans have endured a rocky relationship with Glazer, who is hoping to rebuild trust at the club. A banner protesting Glazer before a game is held up by the statue of club legends George Best, Denis Law and Bobby Charlton. United fans were left incensed by the club's role in the European Super League proposals

Now, having following Henry's lead, who fronted up with a grovelling apology on video to supporters on Wednesday, Glazer published a letter to the United fans on the club's official website where he issued a grovelling apology for causing 'unrest' in the last three or so days.

'Over the past few days, we have all witnessed the great passion which football generates, and the deep loyalty our fans have for this great club,' the letter read.

'You made very clear your opposition to the European Super League, and we have listened. We got it wrong, and we want to show that we can put things right.

'Although the wounds are raw and I understand that it will take time for the scars to heal, I am personally committed to rebuilding trust with our fans and learning from the message you delivered with such conviction.

Gary Neville was also infuriated by Manchester United's statement on the Super League

'We continue to believe that European football needs to become more sustainable throughout the pyramid for the long-term. However, we fully accept that the Super League was not the right way to go about it.'

The club has already felt its first casualty from the Super League mess, after it was announced that chief executive Ed Woodward would be stepping down from his role at Old Trafford.

Woodward was a key figure in fiercely controversial plans for the new breakaway league, with his links to US investment bank JP Morgan helping to secure the £4.3billion in financing.

Confirming his decision on Tuesday night, Woodward said: 'I am extremely proud to have served United and it has been an honour to work for the world's greatest football club for the past 16 years.

'The club is well positioned for the future and it will be difficult to walk away at the end of the year.

'I will treasure the memories from my time at Old Trafford, during a period when we won the Europa League, the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. I am proud of the regeneration of the club's culture and our return to the Manchester United way of playing.

'We have invested more than £1bn in the squad during my time here and I am particularly delighted with the progress the players have made under the astute leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching team in the last two years.'

Before his exit from the club, Glazer tried to persuade Woodward from resigning but was unsuccessful in his attempts, according to The Times.

The report details that Woodward is understood to have told those closest to him that trying to establish the Super League was one of the biggest mistakes of his career and he regrets it.

Club sources said that Woodward was planning to leave at the end of the year anyway — and is set to remain until then — but the announcement had been brought forward to avoid leaks.

Quote:
JOEL GLAZER'S LETTER IN FULL

To all Manchester United supporters,

Over the past few days, we have all witnessed the great passion which football generates, and the deep loyalty our fans have for this great club.

You made very clear your opposition to the European Super League, and we have listened. We got it wrong, and we want to show that we can put things right.

Although the wounds are raw and I understand that it will take time for the scars to heal, I am personally committed to rebuilding trust with our fans and learning from the message you delivered with such conviction.

We continue to believe that European football needs to become more sustainable throughout the pyramid for the long-term. However, we fully accept that the Super League was not the right way to go about it.

In seeking to create a more stable foundation for the game, we failed to show enough respect for its deep-rooted traditions –promotion, relegation, the pyramid – and for that we are sorry.

This is the world's greatest football club and we apologise unreservedly for the unrest caused during these past few days.

It is important for us to put that right.

Manchester United has a rich heritage and we recognise our responsibility to live up to its great traditions and values.

The pandemic has thrown up so many unique challenges and we are proud of the way Manchester United and its fans from Manchester and around the world have reacted to the enormous pressures during this period.

We also realise that we need to better communicate with you, our fans, because you will always be at the heart of the club.

In the background, you can be sure that we will be taking the necessary steps to rebuild relationships with other stakeholders across the game, with a view to working together on solutions to the long-term challenges facing the football pyramid.

Right now, our priority is to continue to support all of our teams as they push for the strongest possible finish to the season.

In closing, I would like to recognise that it is your support which makes this club so great, and we thank you for that.

With best regards,

Joel Glazer

* United supporters called for the Glazers to sell up during protests on Saturday

The Glazers will sell Manchester United for no less than £4billion with the unpopular owners reportedly confident that the huge price would have been met had the European Super League not collapsed, The Mirror reports.

United's American billionaire owners have long been reviled by supporters since they purchased the club for £790m back in 2005.

However, United's decision to join the disastrous breakaway league - of which Joel Glazer is understood to have been a driving force - has seen a complete breakdown in the relationship between fans and the owners, with supporters gathering outside Old Trafford on Saturday demanding that the family sell up.

And The Mirror reports that an offer of £4bn would tempt Joel and brother Avram to finally give up control of the club.

More pertinently, the owners are said to have been confident that the mammoth valuation would have been met had the Super League not so spectacularly fallen apart.

United, alongside Liverpool and Arsenal's American owners and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, are understood to have been the architects of the failed plot, with JP Morgan providing £3.5bn towards the competition.

The ESL triggered a strong negative reaction with fans, pundits and even UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson furious with the competition that was branded a 'closed shop' by its detractors.

United joined 12 clubs in signing up for the disastrous European Super League on Sunday. However, amid widespread backlash the Red Devils swiftly dropped out of the competition

And no sooner than 48 hours after the project was announced did all six of England's participating clubs - United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Spurs and Chelsea - drop out of the league.

The Super League, coupled with United's unique heritage and commercial gravitas, left the Glazers with the belief that the £4bn price tag is justified.

Had the Super League have been formed, the value of the 12 participating clubs would have increased dramatically, resulting in a healthy return for the Glazers who are despised by a large section of United supporters.

The Glazers are said to believe the £4bn price tag would be met if United were in the ESL. Joel Glazer's apology did little to defuse the anger among fans who want the owners to sell up

Joel Glazer apologised for the club's attachment to the project, penning an open letter to supporters pledging to rebuild the owners' relationship with the fans.

'In seeking to create a more stable foundation for the game, we failed to show enough respect for its deep-rooted traditions –promotion, relegation, the pyramid – and for that we are sorry,' he wrote on the club's official website.

'This is the world’s greatest football club and we apologise unreservedly for the unrest caused during these past few days.

'It is important for us to put that right.'

The Super League plot appears the straw that broke the camel's back among supporters

Fans remained unmoved by Glazer's grovelling apology, though, and gathered outside Old Trafford on Saturday to vent their fury with the club's ownership.

Supporters were provided with a small victory after chief executive Ed Woodward announced he would leave the club at the end of 2021, but fans are still desperate for the Glazers to move on.

United, along with the 11 other rebel clubs, are expected to face sanctions for their role in the breakaway league, although UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin told Sportsmail that the English clubs will receive lesser punishments as they were the first to drop out.
