Marcus Rashford could gatecrash Euro 2016 while Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere have certain invites, reveals Roy Hodgson

* Marcus Rashford has broken onto the scene for Manchester United
* Roy Hodgson admits teenager could yet make England squad for Euros
* Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere are virtually guaranteed places

Roy Hodgson has opened the door for Manchester United wonderkid Marcus Rashford to gatecrash his Euro 2016 squad.

And the England manager has also virtually guaranteed injured duo Jack Wilshere and Wayne Rooney seats on the plane to France.

Rashford, 18, has burst onto the scene with four goals in his first three senior games and Hodgson said: ‘I have been watching Rashford for two years.

‘I wouldn’t rule him in or rule him out. I’ve taken chances by giving young players opportunities and what they have done is taken it. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was at Euro 2012, (Raheem) Sterling was in our squad when he was only 18, 19.’

But Hodgson was swift to calm the sudden hype surrounding Rashford.

‘Most of all, I hope he is allowed to develop as an 18-year-old should and people don’t put him under enormous pressure,’ he added.

Manchester United rising star Marcus Rashford (left) could yet book a place in England's Euro 2016 squad

‘Scoring four goals in three games is a great achievement and if he can keep that up, it is great for Manchester United and England.

‘My hope, and it is a vain hope, is that he will be allowed to develop in peace and it wont suddenly be “you’re going to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo” or that every time he has two or three bad games he is a flash in the pan.

'Lets hope the lad gets a chance to develop the same as Raheem Sterling, Ross Barkley, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Paul Scholes... and isn’t lifted up so high that the inevitable fall will have to follow.’

Hodgson also explained why he is almost sure to take crocked Arsenal midfielder Wilshere to France.

Wilshere has not played a single minute this season after breaking his leg in a training-ground collision with defender Gabriel in August.

Indeed, Wilshere is only due to start running outdoors this week and isn’t expected to return until early April at the earliest.

However, despite his injury woes, the Arsenal star is likely to be named in Hodgson’s final 23.

‘We are monitoring Jack Wilshere, who is making very good progress,’ said Hodgson.

‘Dave Mackay came back from two broken legs. The first one he came back almost immediately after his leg was healed and played a game, and then he broke it again but played again as soon as it healed.

‘I don’t know why we should be quite as protective as all that. Players are either fit to play or not.

‘For me its all about the class of the player. Form is transient, but class isn’ t, we need classy players, players we can trust.’ Similarly, Hodgson says there is no danger of injured captain Wayne Rooney missing Euro 2016.

The Manchester United striker is nursing a knee injury and isn’t expected to return until April.

The injury had cast doubt over Rooney’ inclusion in Hodgson’s squad for the European Championships.

But the England boss insists this country’s all-time leading goalscorer will definitely be part of his plans, but offered no guarantees that Rooney would be an automatic starter.

The emergence of Harry Kane and the return to fitness of Daniel Sturridge has led to suggestions that Rooney could be benched this summer.

And Hodgson said: ‘Wayne Rooney for me is someone I’m really counting on going to the Euros and I’m fully expecting him to be fit for it.

‘There is no way I should be looking to dismiss a Wayne Rooney who is fit and playing football on the basis he is out of form because he is our captain and a captain is important.

‘What he has got to try and do is get fit so I can pick him and then show enough form when he is with us to demand a place in the team – that is what Wayne fully understands.

‘When you are a footballer, nothing is given.’

Piala Eropa 2016
Rooney Pasti Masuk Skuat Inggris, tapi Belum Tentu Jadi Starter

Manchester United starlet Marcus Rashford to earn call up to England U20 squad

* Marcus Rashford has excelled since making his Manchester United debut
* Rashford has scored four goals in his first six appearances for United
* England Under 20s face Canada U20s on Easter Sunday in Doncaster

Marcus Rashford's dazzling start to life with Manchester United is set to be rewarded with a call up to England’s Under 20 squad.

Roy Hodgson raised the prospect that Rashford, who has scored four goals in his first six appearances for United, could be considered for a place in his squad for Euro 2016.

Had that been the case, he would have been included for the seniors’ friendlies against Germany and Holland – Hodgson will name his squad on Thursday for those games in Berlin on March 26 and at Wembley on March 29.

Marcus Rashford is set to be rewarded with a call up to the England Under 20 squad this month

Rashford had also come into Gareth Southgate’s thinking for the Under 21s Euro 2017 qualifier away in Switzerland, given a number of his forwards – such as Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore and Norwich’s Nathan Redmond – are struggling with injury.

However, it has been decided that Rashford’s development would be best served by being included in the U20s, who face a friendly against Canada at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium on Easter Sunday. Barring any late changes, he will included in head coach Keith Downing’s party.

Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, meanwhile, has received his international clearance and is now free to be selected by England but his potential first call up will have to wait while he recovers from the ankle problem that has forced him to miss the last five games.

England reveal Euro 2016 kit as Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling parade new Nike home and away strips

* Nike have launched England’s new home and away kits ahead of this summer’s tournament in France
* Home strip consists of a white shirt with light blue sleeves, white shorts and red socks
* Away strip is a red shirt with crimson sleeves, red shorts and bright blue socks
* Home and away kits will be worn for the first time during upcoming friendlies against Holland and Germany
* A full adult replica kit will set you back £101 with the shirts priced at £60, shorts at £28 and socks at £13
* The full replica kit for kids will cost £84, with the shirts priced at £48, shorts at £23 and socks at £13

England have revealed the new Nike home and away kits which Roy Hodgson’s men will wear in France with just 85 days to go until their tournament opener against Russia.

Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Co will look the part thanks to Nike’s new designs which sees England steer away from the traditional all-white home kit due to a change in colour to the shirt sleeves and socks.

England’s stars will instead be kitted out in a top with light blue on the sleeves and bright red socks in a bold move by Nike’s kit designers ahead of this summer’s tournament.

If you want to buy the full adult replica kit, either home or away, then it will set you back a total of £101 with the shirts priced at £60, shorts at £28 and socks at £13. The previous England shirt was priced at £59.99.

Meanwhile, the full replica kit for kids will cost £84, with the shirts priced at £48, shorts at £23 and socks at £13.

Adult replica shirt (with ‘Aeroswift technology’) - £90 (£90)

Adult shorts - £28 (£24.99)

Adult socks - £13 (£11.99)

Junior shirt – £48 (£42.99)

Junior shorts – £23 (£18.99)

Junior socks – £13
Bright red socks, featuring a linear blue graphic on the calf, celebrate the look of the England team that famously triumphed over Brazil at Maracana Stadium in 1984.

The away kit, on the other hand, has crimson sleeves with blue socks. The red strip is in honour of England’s 1966 team which starred in the Three Lions’ only World Cup triumph 50 years on from their historic Wembley final victory over West Germany.

Both sets of kits have a blue outline on the shirt and shorts to give the strips an added dimension.

England’s team led by captain Bobby Moore lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy while wearing red shirts and socks with white shorts.

Marking a revolution in football apparel design, England’s Nike Vapor kits are 10 per cent lighter, boast 50 per cent more stretch, wick sweat 20 per cent quicker and dry 25 per cent faster than Nike’s most recent football kits.

Other quirky features on the new strips include the word 'England' being knitted into the back collar, while 'Three' and 'Lions' adorn the inside cuffs.

The reverse of the crest reveals a white rose graphic, referencing the symbol that was embroidered on early England caps in the nineteenth century.

American brand Nike have also decided to remove the drawstring on the shorts as they have introduced a brand new waistband and have ventilation holes on the strip in order for England’s players to cope with playing in a warm climate, such as the one which they may experience in the south of France.

Nike's creative director Martin Lotti said: 'For both kits we set out with the goal of bringing together the colours that are synonymous with English football: white, red and blue – flashes of contrast are used to illustrate innovative details such as the cross-dyed knitted sleeves and the ventilation-enhancing stripe on the sides of the shirts and shorts.

'England have had great moments in red over the years – one in particular – and our design team have risen to the challenge of integrating references to England’s footballing history with a futuristic system of performance apparel in both the home and away kits.'

The senior team will wear the home kit for the first time against Holland at Wembley on March 29, while they will parade the away strip three days earlier during their international friendly with Germany.

Both the home and away replica kits, which will be available to purchase from March 24, will come in different fits with the professionals wearing a specially made athletic-fitted shirt.

Hodgson’s men are expected to be a force to be reckoned with in France after winning all 10 of their qualifying games.

England, who are ninth in the FIFA world rankings, will have to be at their best as they have been pitted alongside Russia, Slovakia and Gareth Bale’s Wales.

World Cup holders Germany and hosts France are joint favourites to win the tournament at 10/3 - with Spain (11/2), England (11/1) and Belgium (11/1).

England’s stars will definitely look the part, now let’s hope they can deliver the goods in France.

Wayne Rooney's England place under 'enormous pressure' after Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane heroics, warns Roy Hodgson

* Roy Hodgson says Wayne Rooney knows his England place is under threat
* Captain's starting role came under question after England beat Germany
* Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy scored brilliant goals in a remarkable victory
* Fans have called for the forwards to start ahead of Rooney at Euro 2016

Roy Hodgson insists Wayne Rooney knows he faces a fight to keep his England starting role.

Rooney's role in the starting XI has come under question over the past few days following England's brilliant display against Germany.

Germany went 2-0 ahead shortly after half-time through goals by Toni Kroos and Mario Gomez to leave England staring down the barrel of a heavy defeat despite an encouraging performance.

But the visitors drew level courtesy of strikes from Harry Kane and an outstanding near-post back-heel by super sub Jamie Vardy before Eric Dier scored an injury-time winner to hand England a famous victory.

The performances of Vardy and Kane has led many to argue that they, and not England's all-time leading goalscorer, should start at Euro 2016.

Rooney's role in the starting XI has come under question recently following England's display against Germany

But Hodgson insists Rooney does not need to be reminded of the fight ahead of him to start at Euro 2016.

'When he comes back and is fit again he is going to be putting enormous pressure on these players, just like these players will be putting enormous pressure on him - and that is the situation we are looking forward to,' he told reporters.

The performances of Vardy (right) and Kane led many to argue they should start over Rooney at Euro 2016

The England boss was quick to reassure the press that Rooney is still a major part of his Euro 2016 plans and has a huge role to play in the tournament.

Hodgson has also dropped a heavy hint that Danny Drinkwater and Daniel Sturridge will start for England against Holland.

Leicester midfielder Drinkwater is expected to start against the Dutch to win his first cap, and Hodgson, who confirmed James Milner will captain the team against Holland, has virtually assured Drinkwater of his starting role.

Likewise, fit-again Sturridge is set to start against Holland.

England captain Wayne Rooney should NOT start for Roy Hodgson's side at Euro 2016, according to Sportsmail poll

* Roy Hodgson says Wayne Rooney knows his England place is under threat
* Rooney has been out with knee ligament damage since February
* Captain's starting role came under question after England beat Germany
* Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane continue to impress for club and country
* Majority of Sportsmail readers believe Rooney shouldn't start at Euro 2016

England record goalscorer Wayne Rooney’s place in the Three Lions attack this summer has become a hot topic after Roy Hodgson’s side defeated world champions Germany on Saturday.

It appears that fans are pressing England manager Hodgson to keep faith with the freescoring Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy in attack after a Sportsmail poll indicated Rooney is out of favour.

Our ‘Should Rooney start for England at Euro 2016?’ question triggered 77 per cent of supporters to vote that the Manchester United forward should not be in the starting line-up on June 11 when the Three Lions open their title challenge against Russia.

England captain Wayne Rooney will face a struggle to regain a starting place for this summer's Euro 2016

Harry Kane scored for England who fought back from 2-0 down to win against world champions Germany

Roy Hodgson admits the likes of Jamie Vardy (left) will put pressure on Rooney when he returns

The 30-year-old has not played for Manchester United since February 13 and will miss the current international fixtures due to knee ligament damage.

Calls for Rooney to be on the England bench have been strengthened by a turbulent season for Louis van Gaal’s side, having scored just seven Premier League goals so far this campaign.

The England skipper’s starting role in France has also come under scrutiny after the Three Lions roared back to defeat Germany 3-2 in Berlin, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Leicester’s Jamie Vardy firing in brilliant goals.

Hodgson has vehemently defended Rooney, who has a record 51 England goals, but has admitted the likes of Kane and Vardy will provide a serious threat to his name on the first XI.

'When he comes back and is fit again he is going to be putting enormous pressure on these players, just like these players will be putting enormous pressure on him - and that is the situation we are looking forward to,' said the England manager.

The 23 per cent of Sportsmail readers that want Rooney to start will highlight his role in guiding England to a flawless Euro 2016 qualification campaign and Hodgson has also echoed that sentiment to insist his captain will at least be in his final squad.

'Yes I can (say he is a certainty) because he is our captain, he is our most experienced player,’ Hodgson told TalkSPORT.

'I am not prepared to say categorically for many players at this early stage that this player will go, but I certainly will dismiss any discussions about Wayne Rooney and whether he should or shouldn't go, because he deserves to be there,’ added the England boss.

'My only fear is that he won't recover in time from his injury. I think it is a minor fear, because everyone tells me he should be fine, but that for me would be the only doubt.

'He has not missed one game in the last 10 qualifiers, in fact he has not missed one squad of the last eight squads, that takes in 16 games. He has never let us down.’

So injury permitting it is almost a certainty that Rooney will be one of the final forwards in Hodgson’s squad for France. However with the likes of Kane, Vardy, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck all pushing for a starting place, the role for Rooney at Euro 2016 is harder to call.

Andriy Shevchenko believes Wayne Rooney’s experience makes him an automatic starter for England at Euro 2016.

The former AC Milan and Chelsea striker has hailed his English counterpart a great player whose knowledge of tournament football will prove important.

Much debate has focussed on whether the rise of Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli renders Rooney’s place in jeopardy.

But Shevchenko, Ukraine assistant manager, said: 'I think experience is so important. You have to have a mix between the experienced and young players.

'The big competitions like the Champions League and the European Championship needs experience.

Questions have been raised about the England skipper's place in the starting line-up at Euro 2016

'When Wayne Rooney gets fit for the European Championship then, personally, a player like him can always give his experience and knowledge of the game.

'I like Wayne Rooney. He's a great player. Rooney does not just play in front (No 9), he can play behind as the No 10.

'When the coach asks him to play in front he works hard for the team. He is injured at the moment, but he is a very important player for England. He's an important player for European football too.’

Shevchenko, once Europe’s most deadly centre forward, won 111 caps for his country and scored 48 goals, appearing at Euro 2012 in Ukraine aged 35.

He scored twice against Sweden in the opening group match and came on as a substitute in the final game against England, when Rooney’s goal proved decisive.

Roy Hodgson’s team were knocked out on penalties by Italy at the quarter-final stage of that tournament but Shevchenko thinks they are one of the five favourites for this summer’s competition in France.

'England have good players,’ he said. 'When a big competitions starts like this there are always four or five big teams that can win it: Germany, France, Italy, England and Spain.

'They should always be the favourites to win. But football can give you a lot of surprises. You have to focus on the games. But one of the favourites is always very close to winning the competition.'

Shevchenko enjoyed a glittering career, winning the Champions League with AC Milan and five Ukrainian titles with Dynamo Kiev. He will be part of the staff leading Ukraine in Group C against Northern Ireland, Germany, and Poland.

Antonio Conte to earn £6.5m per year at Chelsea... while Pep Guardiola will be on £15m at Manchester City! So how much does your manager get paid?

* Antonio Conte will take over at Chelsea after Euro 2016 this summer
* He put pen to paper on a three-year contract worth £6.5m per season
* The Italian will only be the Premier League's fifth-best paid manager
