Re: [El Clasico] Barcelona vs Real Madrid

Re: [El Clasico] Barcelona vs Real Madrid
Real Madrid 1 Barcelona 1: Varane cancels out Fabregas' opener to spare Ronaldo's blushes after Portuguese star misses sitter
Real Madrid and Barcelona have it all to play for in the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final after an entertaining stalemate at the Bernabeu tonight. Both sides had plenty of chances during an enthralling first half but the opener did not arrive until five minutes into the second period when Cesc Fabregas latched onto Lionel Messi's through ball to fire past Diego Lopez. Madrid got the equaliser their performance merited nine minutes from time when the game's outstanding performer, Raphael Varane, rose to head home Mesut Ozil's cross. Level pegging: Raphael Varane (left) celebrates after scoring the equaliser The big news before the match was the decision of Madrid coach Jose Mourinho to hand a debut to goalkeeper Lopez after he rejoined the club from Sevilla last week as cover for the injured Iker Casillas. But it was Barca's second-choice goalkeeper, Jose Manuel Pinto, who was first into the action, clawing away Cristiano Ronaldo's dipping free-kick from under his crossbar. Barca began to take control after that early scare and they could have gone ahead on 13 minutes when a beautiful scoop pass from Andres Iniesta set Jordi Alba free but the full-back skewed his volley well off target. Ronaldo was then inches away from connecting with a Karim Benzema cross, before Xavi struck the crossbar with a free-kick. The Barcelona midfielder missed another chance to open the scoring on 25 minutes after a terrible backpass from Ricardo Carvalho allowed Fabregas to intercept. The former Arsenal's man teed up Xavi to take aim with the goal gaping only for the impressive Varane to get back and clear off the line. The hosts started to find more opportunities on the counter-attack as the half wore on and Benzema came within inches of scoring with a volley after being played in by Jose Maria Callejon. Pure delight: Fabregas celebrates opening the scoring for Barcelona Dani Alves then made a heroic last-ditch tackle to prevent Benzema and the Frenchman was first to threaten after the break as he cut inside and bent a shot just over, but it was Barcelona who found the net moments later. A poor clearance from Callejon was seized on by Messi, who laid on the opening for Fabregas to apply a cool finish beyond Lopez. Varane produced another wonderful challenge to deny Fabregas a second as he bore down on goal, and Madrid should have been level four minutes later as Michael Essien whipped a bouncing cross to the back post where Ronaldo headed just wide. The Portuguese star was in space at the far post but somehow contrived to miss the target with the goal gaping. How did he miss? Cristiano Ronaldo should have levelled the score but fluffed his lines Gerard Pique produced a wonderful challenge to thwart Ronaldo as he tried to connect with Ozil's low cross before Barca had two great chances to add to the scoring as Fabregas shot over from Alves' cutback and Pedro's chip drifted wide. Barca's failure to kill the game off came back to bite them late on when Ozil swung in a cross from the right and Varane powered a header low into the bottom corner. The visitors had one final chance to take a lead back to the Nou Camp on February 27 but Lopez stood up well to turn away Alba's effort. Bullet: Varane heads home the equaliser to ensure the spoils are shared in the first leg Code:

Re: [El Clasico] Barcelona vs Real Madrid
Madrid maennya trengginas di kandang Barca, seolah2 Madrid 'menjelma' jadi Barca. kalo maennya kayak gini bisa bahaya neh buat United di 2nd leg UCL nanti, moga Jones bisa fit nanti. habis ini EL Clasico lagi di La Liga sebelum bentrok dengan United. apakah Madrid akan tetap full team ato 'melepas' partai La Liga demi fit lawan United?

Re: [El Clasico] Barcelona vs Real Madrid
Barcelona 1 Real Madrid 3 (Agg 2-4): Ronaldo sends Jose's men into Copa del Rey final on miserable night for Messi
Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo made the perfect response to those who say Leo Messi is the world’s best player by scoring two goals and inspiring his side to a shock Copa Del Rey semi-final win over Barcelona. And Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was at the Nou Camp to see Jose Mourinho’s side win a two-leg cup-tie after drawing the home leg 1-1 — much as Real hope to do in the Champions League at Old Trafford next Tuesday. This was Mourinho’s greatest night at Barcelona since his Inter Milan reached the Champions League final with 10 men. Star: Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 3-1 at the Nou Camp And in the match when the absence of ex-Barca boss Pep Guardiola and his successor Tito Vilanova really started to show, Ronaldo was imperious. He raced away on 15 minutes to draw a foul from Gerard Pique inside the area, then picked himself up and put the penalty past Manuel Pinto to become the first player ever to score in six consecutive away Clasicos. In the second half, with stunned Barcelona chasing the game, Angel Di Maria sped past Carles Puyol in another lightning counter attack and when he squared to Ronaldo, the former Manchester United striker scored again — the first player to score doubles in consecutive Clasicos away from home. In contrast, Messi, who went into the game looking for his 50th goal of the season, cut a forlorn figure as Barcelona repeated the same starting 10 outfield players as they had against AC Milan and delivered a similar lacklustre performance. Cynical: Ronaldo was brought down by Gerard Pique in the penalty area in the 13th minute Lead: Ronaldo sent Jose Manuel Pinto the wrong way to open the scoring from the spot Hostile: The Portuguese star was targeted by supporters with lasers Messi was frustrated by the brilliant young French defender Raphael Varane, and it was the 19-year-old who headed in the third. Varane’s goal — a carbon copy of his first-leg equaliser — brought the most emotional of responses from Mourinho, who embraced the centre-back on the touchline and was in turn mobbed by most of his players as Madrid celebrated a home humiliation for Barcelona. Jordi Alba scored a late consolation goal, running on to an excellent pass from Andres Iniesta, but it did little to take the shine off Madrid’s win. Gap: Ronaldo followed up Sami Khedira's effort to double Madrid's lead in the second half Mourinho sent Iker Casillas out to face the media on the final whistle and he urged Real Madrid to ensure Ronaldo stayed. Speculation is linking the player with a return to England, as neither he nor the club seem to be interested in a contract extension on his deal which runs out in 2015, and Casillas said: ‘He is our most important player in these big games. ‘He was not just superb tonight, but he has been in the other clasicos. He is vital for us.’ Cruising: Raphael Varane rose highest to head home from a corner and put Real 3-0 up Delight: Varane celebrated his goal with manager Jose Mourinho Downbeat: Lionel Messi looked dejected as Madrid cruised past Barcelona Too little, too late: Jordi Alba scored a late consolation for Barcelona Heated: Pepe fell to the floor as tensions ran high between the arch rivals Scouting: Sir Alex Ferguson and his United assistant Mike Phelan were in the stands at the Nou Camp Opposition: Mourinho talked to Barcelona's assistant coach Jordi Roura before the match Code:
