Default Manchester United : The Unmissable Tour 2017

Thread ini untuk membahas segala hal yang berkaitan dengan Manchester United : The Unmissable Tour 2017 yang merupakan tur musim panas United di Amerika yach

MANCHESTER UNITED TO FACE SPANISH GIANTS AND CITY RIVALS IN USA TOURNAMENT

• United to take part in the International Champions Cup
• Games against top La Liga sides Real Madrid and Barcelona
• Games against two MLS sides to kick-off tour

(NYSE:MANU) Manchester United will play five games in the USA this summer, including matches against Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City on the club’s Tour 2017, presented by Aon.

United will kick off their pre-season in North America with two games against Major League Soccer sides, taking on Los Angeles Galaxy at the Stubhub Centre on Saturday 15 July, followed by a match against Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium on Monday 17 July.

Days later, United will take part in the International Champions Cup (ICC), kicking off the tournament against rivals Manchester City on Thursday 20 July with the venue to be revealed in due course for the highly anticipated Manchester derby.

Jose Mourinho will then come up against his former club when United face Real Madrid at the Levi’s Stadium, Santa Clara, on Sunday 23 July. The clash comes three years after a record-breaking US soccer attendance of 109,318 spectators watched the Reds record a 3-1 win over the Spanish giants.

The tour will then conclude in Washington DC with a game against Barcelona on Wednesday 26 July at FedEx Field, in what will be the first meeting between the two sides since United claimed a 3-1 victory in the sell-out clash in California two summers ago.

Speaking of the club’s summer plans, United’s executive vice chairman, Ed Woodward, said: “Tours are vital for the team’s preparations for the season ahead and we are facing top-class opposition in world-class stadiums, ensuring it is the ideal environment for the manager and team to prepare.

“Everybody is excited for the tour and it gives us the opportunity to play in front of some of the millions of Manchester United supporters which we have across the USA. I am delighted that those fans will be able to see every kick of every match of Tour 2017, presented by Aon, on the new MUTV app.”

This will be the fifth consecutive year that the ICC returns to the US, as part of their worldwide tournaments through Relevent Sports, Catalyst Media Group and LeSports, which has seen some of the biggest football clubs in the world take part.

Manchester United has taken part in the last four ICC tournaments in North America and China. The team has played 10 games, winning on seven occasions with almost 600,000 supporters attending matches.

Tickets for the games are expected to be in high demand, with United enjoying sell-out crowds in previous visits to North America, with more than half a million spectators attending games. Supporters, including UK-based Manchester United fans, can pre-register to purchase tickets for the games now, with additional details announced in due course.

Manchester United vs Manchester City friendly in the US to be confirmed in Tuesday unveiling of pre-season plans

* Pre-season Manchester derby plans are re-ignited after last year's cancellation
* United will play City in the United States with Texas providing a possible venue
* United also face Real Madrid and Barcelona; City play Tottenham and Madrid

The first Manchester derby to be played on foreign soil will be confirmed on Tuesday when United and City announce their plans to tour America this summer.

A showpiece friendly between the two clubs had to be scrapped in China last year due to the state of the pitch at Beijing's Bird's Nest Stadium, but it will finally go ahead as part of the International Champions Cup this July, possibly in Texas.

United are also set to play Real Madrid in Santa Clara and two MLS clubs in Los Angeles and Salt Lake City before a final game against Barcelona in Washington DC.

Manchester United and Manchester City will go head-to-head in a United States friendly. Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho's teams will meet at a venue, possible in Texas, this summer

City will play two other games against Tottenham, in Nashville, and then Madrid. Pep Guardiola's side are also expected to arrange a more low-key friendly in Europe before the start of the new season.

Both clubs are returning to America after a difficult tour of China. United boss Jose Mourinho likes to spend pre-season Stateside, having based his previous clubs Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid in California.

United will start on the west coast and head east to minimise the effects of jet-lag.

Mourinho was said to have been shocked by the scale of commercial commitments in China after inheriting the tour plans from Louis van Gaal, and has spread out the appearances for himself and his players to avoid the constant distractions they faced last summer.

Manchester United legends Sir Alex Ferguson and Nemanja Vidic were in New York this week to help launch Tour 2017, presented by Aon, following confirmation that the Reds will play five games in the USA this summer.

Jose Mourinho's men will take on Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona in the International Champions Cup and will also play matches against MLS sides LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake.

Manchester United in line to face rivals City at Houston's NRG Stadium this July in first derby outside of England

* The two sides could meet at Houston's 72,000-capacity NRG Stadium in July
* United also play the likes of LA Galaxy, Barcelona and Real Madrid on a US tour
* City and United were meant to meet in China last year but it was cancelled
* The venue for the July 20 derby clash has yet to be decided by the two clubs

The first Manchester derby on foreign soil is set to be played at the 72,000-capacity NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas in July.

The venues and dates for Manchester United’s four other games on their pre-season tour of America were announced last month with Jose Mourinho’s side facing LA Galaxy in Los Angeles, Real Salt Lake in Utah, Real Madrid in Santa Clara, and Barcelona in Washington DC.

But the venue for the game against Manchester City on July 20 has been left open while the two clubs remain in discussions.

Manchester United and Manchester City are set to meet in the United States this summer. The two sides are likely to clash at the 72,000-capacity NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas

San Diego and Austin were mentioned as possible host cities, but Houston’s NRG Stadium is expected to be confirmed as the venue even though it’s understood that no contracts have been signed yet.

The stadium hosted the Super Bowl in February when New England Patriots staged a famous comeback to beat the Atlanta Falcons, and United played there on the 2010 tour of America when it was known as Reliant Stadium, overcoming the MLS All-Stars 5-2.

City will also play Real Madrid in Los Angeles and Tottenham in Nashville as part of the International Champions Cup.

The pre-season tournament was meant to see Pep Guardiola and Mourinho meet in their first Manchester derby in China last summer, but it was cancelled on the day of the game due to the awful state of the pitch at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing.

VIDIC: TOUR TESTS WILL HELP PLAYERS

Nemanja Vidic believes difficult matches during Tour 2017, presented by Aon, will provide the Manchester United squad with the best possible preparation ahead of next season.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester City lie in wait for the team's tour of the United States, while further tests will be provided by MLS sides LA Galaxy and Real Salt Lake who will be in the middle of their season.

The former United captain experienced some big matches during his one and only tour of the States with the Reds in 2011 (he is pictured above in Seattle) and he says this year's opposition should help ensure entertaining and testing matches.

"I think it’s good for the manager and good for the players to test themselves and to see where they are in that moment," he explained in an exclusive interview with ManUtd.com. "We don’t want to have easy matches winning 6-0 or 7-0 and then you come to the start of the season and you’re not where you thought you are fitness-wise. If you want to prepare well you need to have good matches.

"When I played the MLS teams I soon realised that they had the mentality to work hard and physically they’re fit and strong. I think they have a similar mentality to the Premier League and English teams. They have speed and strength so straightaway you’re facing teams who are similar to who you will play in the Premier League.

"You’ve seen big names come to MLS which has helped the players in the States improve and also allowed them to see how the top players play and how they train and of course they’ll see the experience they have. Players like Robbie Keane, David Beckham, Ashley Cole all have great experience and performed for many years at a high level. That’s what has helped to improve the MLS and I think they understand that and I think they will try to get more players over here who can help.

"I think for the American fans and Man United fans it’s great that we have these big matches that they can watch live," he added. "I’m sure there will be full stadiums and it's a great opportunity for supporters to see the great players that United, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City have. I think it’s good experience for the MLS players too, they can come to the matches and see how the players train, how they play, how they behave. It will be good for them to learn."

Vidic travelled to New York last month for the launch of Tour 2017 and during his trip he sat down with ManUtd.com to reflect on his experiences of past visits across the globe with the Reds.

The stand-out one for him was the 2011 tour of the States, a country he believes possesses the best facilities around and will provide Mourinho's men with a perfect environment to get ready for 2017/18.

"I missed a few pre-seasons because of injury but of all the ones I did I think the USA was the best one," he declared. "There are great facilities here to prepare for the upcoming season and we have a lot of fans here, eight million in fact, so it’s good to be connected to them and give them a chance to see their idols. The tour in 2011 was definitely the best pre-season I experienced. We stayed in Chicago, Washington DC, Boston and Seattle so it was a good trip with great facilities and full stadiums. I really enjoyed it.

"For me as a player the most important thing was to have good facilities to prepare for the season. Of course everywhere we go we have fans at the hotel so nothing was different to other places we’d been. But the most important thing was the preparation and we played some good matches. We played in the MLS All-Stars match in New Jersey which was a difficult game and we played Barcelona in Washington DC and I think to prepare well for the season you need good matches and we had that. Even in Chicago, we played Chicago Fire and it was very hot and a tough match! It’s important to have good facilities as I said, good tests and to be in good cities."
