Default Re: Erling Braut Haaland

Manchester United 'settle on Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland as their No 1 striker priority'... as new-look transfer team of John Murtough and Darren Fletcher 'receive little encouragement' over potential summer swoop for Harry Kane

* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a prolific striker to finally replace Romelu Lukaku
* Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland has emerged as United's No 1 target
* The club missed out on Haaland last year after issues with his agent, Mino Raiola
* It's hoped Solskjaer's relationship with the striker will help seal a big-money deal
* Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also in the race to sign Haaland
* United have considered Spurs striker Harry Kane but a deal appears unlikely

Manchester United will go all out in their attempt to finally lure Erling Haaland to Old Trafford this summer after making him their No 1 transfer target.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and new football director, John Murtough, have agreed to prioritise the signing of the in-demand Borussia Dortmund striker when the transfer window reopens.

It is claimed that Haaland, who has scored 37 goals in just 35 games for Dortmund and Norway this season, is seen as the 'ideal' replacement for Romelu Lukaku - who left to join Inter Milan in 2019 - despite interest from a host of European giants.

Manchester United have reportedly decided that Erling Haaland is the striker they want to sign. New football director, John Murtough is said to have agreed the pursuit of Haaland with boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

United attempted to sign the 20-year-old from Red Bull Salzburg in January of last year, but missed out following disagreements with his agent, Mino Raiola.

However, the MEN report that United are confident that Solskjaer's relationship with Haaland will help smooth over any lasting issues with Raiola, who has made no secret of his desire to find a new club for another of his clients, Paul Pogba.

Solskjaer worked with Haaland at Norwegian club Molde and revealed last month that he still speaks to the forward regularly.

Harry Kane has also been considered by United as they search for a prolific striker, but the club are said to have received 'little encouragement' over a deal.

Haaland has emerged as one of Europe's brightest talents - stats from www.sofascore.com. Haaland has a £90million release clause. United have also considered a big money move for Tottenham and England star Harry Kane

Sportsmail recently revealed that the Tottenham captain could be sold this summer, but only for a fee of £150million. That is out of United's budget.

Haaland has a release clause of £90m in his Dortmund contract, although that can only be activated if the amount is made in one payment.

Last week, Sportsmail revealed that United's local rivals, Manchester City, are leading the chase for Haaland, with Real Madrid and Chelsea also keen.

The former Salzburg star is said to be looking for a contract worth £350,000 a week should he leave Dortmund this summer.

United experienced issues with Haaland's agent, Mino Raiola, when they last tried to sign him. Solskjaer missed out on Haaland at the start of 2020 but remains keen to sign the Norwegian. Haaland has been in incredible form, scoring 37 goals in just 35 games for club and country

United thought they had a deal tied up for Haaland in January of last year after Solskjaer flew to Austria for talks with his fellow Norwegian, but the striker made a £19.5m move to Germany instead.

Solskjaer is still keen to sign a traditional No 9 amid concerns over Edinson Cavani's fitness and Anthony Martial's form this season.

Last week, United unveiled their new transfer team, with head of development, Murtough, moving into a football director role, and former midfielder Darren Fletcher becoming technical director after a spell as a first-team coach.

The pair have already begun working with Solskjaer on recruitment, with a new centre back also a priority along with Haaland according to the MEN.

Speaking about Haaland last month, Solskjaer said: 'When you have had kids and players through as a coach, you follow them and I keep in touch with Erling. It's great to see him become the player he has become and I know he'll work to improve all the time.

'He's a Dortmund player and we just wish him well there and let's see what life will bring later on.

'Who wasn't interested in him a year ago? Everyone would say you take the best players in the world. Erling is a top player.'
