Default Haruskah Ole dipecat?

Manchester United should sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now... no plan and no edge - he is the wrong man for the job

* Manchester United should sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - he isn't the right man
* There has been no evidence he has known what to do with those at his disposal
* If Mauricio Pochettino wants to leave Tottenham then United should make move

A Manchester United Unicef dinner in late January revealed the picture was far more complicated than it first seemed when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived as manager.

The Norwegian's team had strolled to seven straight wins, leaving you wondering why the club hadn't thought of going back to the old school sooner.

But guests who had paid out for tables at the Old Trafford event were puzzled by Paul Pogba's apparent disappearance after 45 minutes. They found Alexis Sanchez less than enthusiastic when approached.

Manchester United should sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - he is the wrong man for the job

'The Spaniards — Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and David De Gea — were a different class,' says one guest. Solskjaer's powers of transformation evidently had their limits.

The fundamental humility and humanity of this individual, pictured collecting his clothes from an Altrincham dry cleaners this winter, were like a warm breeze after the preening and self-absorption of Jose Mourinho.

But if the past has taught United anything, it is that a fundamental niceness cannot sustain a football team.

Solskjaer provided hope after Jose Mourinho's departure but his side have struggled recently. There has been no evidence that Solskjaer knows what to do with the players at his disposal

There was a myriad of miseries in the team's defeat by relegated Cardiff on Sunday, not least the footage of fans remonstrating with Pogba. But a Premier League 'value for money' table, published by Sporting Intelligence, surely topped the lot.

It revealed Cardiff paid each of their players an average £28,161 for every point they won this season — better value than any side. United were rock bottom, dishing out a monumental £99,010 per point — nearly £20,000 more than any other club.

It says everything that they could not find a way to beat two of the three relegated sides in the season's last week.

Solskjaer now reflects that the necessary rebuild could take years, though it is impossible to sustain an argument he can lead the vast and complex job of overhauling a club which finds itself staggering around in the dark.

He has been a welcome release from the intimidating conduct of Mourinho.

But beyond his vague attempt to introduce more pace, in keeping with the United of yore, there has been no evidence he has known what to do with those at his disposal. The players sense it. It's hard to find any exhilaration in their ranks about what lies ahead.

The manager has talked relentlessly of improving their work-rate, though this side have covered less distance than the opposition in 18 of the 21 games they have played under him. Management requires an edge; a professional distance between players and leader.

Clubs as adrift as United can haemorrhage talent. Pogba had wanted to leave for Real Madrid. Now it is thought he just wants to leave.

There is thought to be some enthusiasm for Marcus Rashford at Manchester City, who have always been ready to raid United in their relentless quest for self-improvement. Old Trafford can no longer recruit players on the basis of reputation and legend. Monumental salaries may no longer be enough.

United's rush to make Solskjaer's appointment permanent was in keeping with the way they have lurched from one disaster to the next without any method in the past six years.

A little due diligence would have told them that Solskjaer was not a visionary in his brief managerial time at Cardiff in 2014. He arrived with a philosophy of ball retention but Cardiff — relegated in the season he arrived — lacked any identity. He looked out of his depth.

United do not seem capable of any diligence as they grapple for a way out; obsessed by the spirits of ages past, they conjure with Mike Phelan, Darren Fletcher and Rio Ferdinand for strategic and recruitment roles, when none of the above have any experience or track record.

Stuart Webber, the sporting director who has delivered Norwich and Huddersfield to the Premier League, would doubtless be considered too prosaic for the so-called Theatre of Dreams.

So, too, Dan Ashworth, architect of England's winning structure before he left for Brighton.

Edwin van der Sar, chief executive of the young Ajax side who have moved mountains, has not entered the conversation.

A club with a modicum of curiosity and intellectual energy would have spoken to all three.

We are about to hear more about 'Ole at the Wheel'. The imminent 20th anniversary celebrations of United's 1999 Munich miracle will prompt a new wave of sentiment. But the rose tint of past glories did not secure a trophy for anyone.

Better Solskjaer goes now and the embarrassment of a U-turn than another grim autumn and a sacking by Christmas.

If Mauricio Pochettino feels a Champions League final is as far as he can take Tottenham, then United should make their move. If not, they should be seeking alternatives.

As Sir Alex Ferguson was fond of reminding us, the spoils in football go to those who are modern and progressive. The ones who look ahead.

Mungkin sebaiknya menunggu sampai 5 pertandingan awal musim 2019 / 2020 dulu.

Oiya, jangan lupakan tur musim panas United.

'If I was Allegri, I'd go to Manchester United': Fabio Capello urges former Juventus boss to hold out for shot at Old Trafford hotseat instead of taking Bayern Munich role

* Bayern Munich sacked Niko Kovac on Sunday after Frankfurt thrashed them 5-1
* Massimiliano Allegri has been touted as a possible replacement at the Allianz
* But ex-England boss Fabio Capello thinks he would be better suited to United
* Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been under fire at Old Trafford after a poor season

Former England boss Fabio Capello believes Massimiliano Allegri should snub Bayern Munich and instead hold out for the Manchester United job.

The German giants are looking for a new manager after sacking Niko Kovac following a humiliating 5-1 Bundesliga defeat at Frankfurt at the weekend.

And it is thought the club's hierarchy are keen on former Juventus boss Allegri, who is currently on a sabbatical after leaving Turin at the end of last season.

The Italian was a huge success at the Old Lady, winning five Serie A titles, four Coppa Italias and two Italian Super Cups in five seasons.

And Capello, who managed England for four years between 2008 and 2012, feels that Allegri would be better served by playing the waiting game until the Manchester United hotseat becomes available.

'He'd be a good fit at Bayern Munich, although I don't know how welcome Italians are in Germany after Ancelotti,' he told Italian station Radio Anch’io Sport.

'England's exciting, there's the possibility of working well and the Premier League is a championship that enriches you. If I was Allegri, I'd go to Manchester.'

Massimiliano Allegri is thought to be Bayern Munich's top target after they sacked Niko Kovac. Former England manager Fabio Capello has advised Allegri to wait for the Man United post

Manchester United have endured a poor start to the Premier League season, leaving manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer under pressure.

The Red Devils are currently 10th in the table after picking up just 13 points from 11 games - with only one win in their last five games.

Should the club decide to part ways with Solskjaer any time soon, they will likely look to a manager of Allegri's calibre, with United yet to experience a return to the glory days under Sir Alex Ferguson since the Scot retired from football in 2013.

United have since gone through four managers - David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer, with none lasting more than two seasons at the club.

Legendary Italian boss Marcello Lippi claims 'humble and shrewd' Massimiliano Allegri would be the 'IDEAL' new Manchester United manager if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is fired' - and would thrive with Patrice Evra on his staff

* Massimiliano Allegri has been mooted with the Manchester United job recently
* Allegri is on the look out for a new job after stepping down as Juventus manager
* Marcello Lippi has backed his fellow Italian to be a huge success in England
* Allegri has also been linked with the newly-vacant Bayern Munich job

Marcello Lippi would be delighted to see Massimiliano Allegri take over as Manchester United manager in the near future.

After stepping down as Juventus boss in the summer, Allegri is currently on the look out for another managerial job. United are toiling under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and are 10 points off the top four after Saturday's miserable 1-0 loss at Bournemouth.

The Italian has been suggested as someone who could galvanise Old Trafford and has also been linked with Bayern Munich, after they sacked Niko Kovac on Sunday.

Marcello Lippi would be delighted to see Massmimiliano Allegri manage Manchester United. Lippi, who led Italy to World Cup glory in 2006, says United are the 'history of English football'

Lippi, who lifted the World Cup as Italy manager in 2006, believes Allegri would be a huge success at United as they look to cut the gap with fierce rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Sportsmail, Lippi said: 'Allegri would be good everywhere and as a great admirer of the English club I would be happy to see him take over.

'Manchester United is the history of English football. There have been dark years but the club is fantastic, from the backroom to the players, everyone can say what it means to play at Old Trafford.'

Lippi added: 'First of all, I think Solskjaer was an exceptional striker and a good coach. For Allegri, I consider him an exemplary professional who has the style of Juventus in his blood.

'My deep friendship with (Sir Alex) Ferguson allows me to say that he would be the best choice for United.'

On Wednesday, Allegri was announced on the shortlist for the Coach of the Year gong at the Globe Soccer Awards.

Allegri would want to include Patrice Evra on his backroom staff if he moved to Manchester

Allegri won five consecutive Serie A titles before leaving Juventus but managing United, who are currently rebuilding, would represent a much bigger challenge.

Allegri would have to adapt quickly to a new culture and language but Lippi insists his compatriot would be perfect for the Premier League.

'As I already told you, I refused Tottenham simply because I didn't have a command of the language but also because I loved and respected Juventus,' Lippi said. 'Allegri studies English and is perfect for the British style.

'He is prepared and shrewd. He reads the game with great ease.'

When asked about Allegri's ambitions, Lippi replied: 'He loves challenges and I respect him a lot, I think he is serious and prepared, I think he is a humble person. A great Italian who would do very well in England.'

Sportsmail had previously reported that Allegri would want to include United legend Patrice Evra on his backroom staff if he took over at Old Trafford.

Evra played for the English giants between 2006 and 2014 - winning five Premier League titles and one Champions League - and a return to Old Trafford would prove a hugely popular decision among fans.

And Lippi believes the Frenchman could be a huge help for Allegri due to his wealth of knowledge of United.

Lippi added: 'Honestly, I don't know if Evra wants to become a coach or just an assistant.

'On Allegri I can tell you that he is ready for United. On Evra you have to figure out if he wants to be the manager or assistant. Evra is another man of great capacity and human quality.'
