JAMES: WE WANT TO REDEEM OURSELVES

Daniel James was on the scoresheet for Manchester United at Old Trafford again on Saturday but this time the outcome was different, as his side suffered a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace.

The Wales international, who marked his debut with a goal in the 4-0 home win over Chelsea, equalised against the Eagles and believes that the Reds deserved to get more from the game given an improved second-half performance.

“After we scored, there were three or four minutes to go, the crowd were behind us and we were in control to go and get another,” James told MUTV after the final whistle. “Unfortunately, they’ve hit us on the break and scored.”

The no.21 looked to have earned the Reds at least a point when his fine finish found the top right-hand corner of the Stretford End net in the 89th minute. However, the United fans’ joy was sadly shortlived, with Patrick van Aanholt sealing the win for the Eagles deep into stoppage time, following Jordan Ayew’s first-half opener.

James was pleased to have added another goal to his tally but he was naturally dismayed at the defeat, United’s first this season.

“Obviously, I’m delighted to get the goal and that’s something I want to keep improving on and keep doing,” he told MUTV.

“But, at the end of the day, it’s a team game and we didn’t win the game today so obviously I’m disappointed.”

The Reds had already gone close to levelling the score before James’s late strike, with Marcus Rashford’s penalty rattling the woodwork in further spot-kick agony for United after Paul Pogba's attempt against Wolves was saved. However, James was full of support for his team-mate and believes the England international was unfortunate not to have found the back of the net.

“It was a great strike, I think he was unlucky,” said the 21-year-old. “But, as you’ve seen in the game, we went on and got the equaliser and we were in control that whole second half. We should’ve come away with more.”

United will be back in action next weekend, when we travel down to the south coast to face a Southampton side who claimed their first points of the season by winning 2-0 at Brighton.

James admits that it will feel like a long week for the United players, but that the team will be already looking ahead to the Saturday lunchtime fixture.

“We want to redeem ourselves. This game is something that we’ll look back on and look at what we could’ve done better.

“The Southampton game next week will be a completely different test and we’ve got to be ready for it.”

Default Re: Daniel Owen James

Daniel James shows star potential with stunning goal but Manchester United's weaknesses mean youngster is being forced to learn on the job

* Daniel James scored a stunning goal in Man United's defeat by Crystal Palace
* James thought he'd rescued a late point before Patrick van Aanholt's late winner
* The winger has little experience but is already being relied upon in starting XI

The Old Trafford roof came off. Daniel James twirled over towards one corner of the Stretford End and it was the least he deserved.

No Manchester United player contributed more than the 21-year-old, no one quite as tireless as him. The bending equaliser after coming in off his left-wing station was perfect reward two minutes from full-time.

James would have saved United from severe embarrassment against Crystal Palace, had Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side not thrown it away in stoppage time. Forgetting the end result, this was an afternoon that underlined the £15m signing's immediate importance moving forward.

Daniel James scored a stunning late equaliser before Crystal Palace's injury-time winner. James is already first choice in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side despite his lack of experience. The winger was United's best player with his pace causing Palace problems throughout

Ideas had been lacking, United panicked in the final third, and the sense of desperation shone a light on quite how much is resting on the shoulders of young James.

Suddenly he finds himself in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first-choice starting XI despite only one Premier League start before this. That came a few days prior at Wolves, where his display was mixed but ultimately encouraging. There is a purposefulness to his play, a directness that frightens defenders.

In many ways, this all feels a little unfair on the winger. There has been no bedding in process for someone who only made his professional league debut for Swansea City a year ago last week. Somehow he now finds himself as one of the main attacking protagonists in a team that is still very much a work in progress.

He has spirit in abundance, though, and that should serve him well in his debut season. James keeps going, takes the knocks and continues to demand possession.

James was harshly booked for diving and could pick up an unfair reputation for simulation

He wants to get at defenders, either drifting inside or scampering around the outside. There were a selection of delicate first-touch passes to open Palace up. A first-half half volley was blocked by Patrick van Aanholt.

His speed is electrifying, sparking genuine fear in opponents. Referees are also having difficulty with his pace, however, and this will become a topic that runs and runs.

James was booked for simulation again, even though James McArthur booted his leg. It happened too quickly for Paul Tierney and you wonder whether James may suffer accidental reputational damage because of it.

He should not, of course, and suffered a few other rough challenges on Saturday. Teams will certainly target him. 'He's that quick and he gets kicked so many times that it's natural sometimes to protect yourself,' Solskjaer said after a booking at Wolves.

It doesn't look like United will offer him protection in the short-term. There simply isn't enough time to learn the ropes at the moment, they need him firing now to mask the deficiencies of others. Unfortunately, not even the sumptuous curling late equaliser managed that on Saturday.

Semoga bisa terus tampil konsisten sepanjang musim

Daniel James Langsung Tancap Gas
Mohammad Resha Pratama - detikSport

James lantas bermain sejak menit awal lagi kala menjamu Crystal Palace pekan lalu.

'What a goal!': Gary Neville and Manchester United fans erupt with joy as Daniel James scores a screamer... a strike that means he's already MATCHED Alexis Sanchez's total Premier League tally for Red Devils

* Daniel James' strike opened the scoring for Manchester United at Southampton
* It is the Welshman's third goal since joining from Swansea this summer
* That total is the same as flop Alexis Sanchez managed in 18 months at United
* James has earned plaudits from former player Gary Neville on social media

Daniel James has equaled the total goals scored by flop Alexis Sanchez for Manchester United in the space of just four league games, while it took the Chilean 18 months to do the same.

The Welsh youngster's stunning strike at Southampton on Saturday afternoon was his third since joining from Swansea City this summer, as the 21-year-old finds his feet in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Social media was quick to react to James' strike, with many lauding the young talent for his contributions to the team since his £15million move.

Daniel James celebrates as his strike puts Manchester United into the lead at Southampton

United team mate Diogo Dalot said: 'Good first half an hour so far, what a goal by the boy @Daniel_James_97 keep it up boysss'

BBC Match of the Day host Gary Lineker said: 'Cracking goal from Daniel James. @ManUtd made 3 astute long term signings this summer,' referring to fellow new boys Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United captain Gary Neville tweeted: 'What a goal!! @Daniel_James_97'

Meanwhile, others were quick to notice that James had equaled Sanchez's total in a considerably shorter period of time. Richard Jolly tweeted: 'Daniel James has now scored as many Premier League goals for Manchester United as Alexis Sanchez.'

One user replied: 'Shhh. If Woodward hears that, he will throw a 500k a well contract at the boy.'

Another said: 'But can he play the piano?'

'You know what he's going to do but you can't stop it': Ryan Giggs hails Daniel James after Manchester United winger's fine display in Belarus win

* Ryan Giggs described Daniel James as unstoppable after his winner for Wales
* The Manchester United winger scored a superb 17th minute strike in Cardiff
* Giggs hailed his performance and his form in the early stages of the season

Ryan Giggs described Daniel James as unstoppable after the Manchester United winger maintained his hot scoring streak in Wales' 1-0 friendly win over Belarus.

James - who has scored three goals in four games for United since his summer switch from Swansea - curled home a superb 17th-minute winner from 18 yards.

The 21-year-old was a constant danger before replaced after 50 minutes by Gareth Bale, who started on the bench and passed on the captain's armband to Joe Allen.

'He (James) is one of those players, you know what he's going to do but you can't stop it,' Wales manager Giggs said.

'There are so many goals (he's scored) like that. He can go either way.

'Early on when I saw DJ, just like any young winger, there can be that improvement in the final ball and scoring more goals.

'But he's doing that. To do what he's done at the start of the season is amazing.

'The next step obviously is that consistency, which he's shown so far and he needs to carry on. But I've got no doubts that will happen because he wants to be the best.'

Giggs made five changes from the side that had beaten Azerbaijan 2-1 in Euro 2020 qualifying on Friday.

Bristol City midfielder Joe Morrell and Wigan striker Kieffer Moore made their debuts and it proved a comfortable Cardiff victory against limited opposition.

On a positive night that brought a rare clean sheet for Wales, there was further good news in their European Championship qualifying section.

Leaders Croatia were held 1-1 by bottom team Azerbaijan in Baku, while Hungary - who started the evening in second spot - lost 2-1 at home to Slovakia.

Ryan Giggs described Daniel James as unstoppable after he scored in Wales' win over Belarus. Giggs made five changes for the game but was all smiles at full time after another victory. James curled home a superb 17th-minute winner from 18 yards in Cardiff on Monday night

'I don't think they're the worst results in the world,' Giggs said.

'It was a difficult one with Hungary and Slovakia. We definitely didn't want a Hungary win.

'But we've got to focus on ourselves. It's still in our hands.

'It's been a good week training and I'll look keenly at a couple of players who could make the squad for the next game.

'I just hope everyone else stays healthy, and the key for me is for my players to get games.

'All I ask is that they're playing - if I'm going to be greedy, playing in the positions I want them to be playing in. That's the ideal situation for an international manager.

'But I'm delighted with the way the two games have gone.'

Belarus manager Mikhail Markhel admitted debutant defender Nikolay Zolotov might have seen red had the game been a competitive match.

Zolotov was booked early on and was guilty of several crude challenges, including a bad tackle on Harry Wilson in the second half.

'It was his debut and he played quite good,' Markhel said.

'But as with any player who plays for the national team for the first time, he was slightly stressed and enthusiastic.

'It's understood by the coaching staff that if it was not a friendly match he could have been sent off.'

'There were times when I wasn't enjoying it': Man United's newest star Daniel James admits he had nearly QUIT football at the age of 12

* The Welsh winger revealed he had wanted to spend more time with his friends
* But after a meeting with Hull City Academy coaches James then reconsidered
* James also admitted playing for Wales as a youngster changed his position
* The now 21-year-old has enjoyed a superb start to life at Manchester United

Manchester United star Daniel James has revealed he had almost quit playing football at the age of 12 in order to spend more time with friends.

The Welsh winger had contemplated leaving the Hull City Academy as he believed he was missing out on social gatherings, but eventually changed his mind after a meeting with coaches.

And after receiving reassurance over his abilities, James then went on to climb the ranks with the East Yorkshire side before completing a move to Swansea.

His performances infamously caught the eye of Manchester United in the summer, but the electric wideman may not have secured his dream top flight move had he dropped out of youth football at an early age.

Speaking to Inside United magazine, James said: 'I was telling my mum and dad: "I'd rather be playing other football." Or I was missing out with my mates. I was training most nights and was missing out.

'I was coming back from school and wanting to go out with my mates, but I had to go training. I had a serious meeting with the coaches at Hull [for them] to say: "No, we think you've got the ability and we want you to stay on here".

Man United star Dan James has revealed he had almost quit playing football at the age of 12. James had risen through the ranks in the Hull City Academy before moving to Swansea. The Welshman has enjoyed a sensational start to life in the Premier League after summer move

'Thankfully, from there, I did stay on. But there were times when I wasn't enjoying it, but I think as a person I developed a lot, especially when I went to play my first game for Wales when I was 14.'

The now 21-year-old also admitted that playing for Wales on the international stage had increased his versatility, as his nation were the first to introduce him to life on the flanks.

James added: 'The first games were against Belgium and Switzerland, and that changed me as well because I used to play striker at Hull, and when I went away with Wales, I played as a winger.

'I think that’s why I’ve come to be a winger now. Otherwise, I think I’d play in a different position.'

But after reflecting on the tough decision as a youngster to fully commit to football, the Welshman believes that his period of uncertainty ultimately helped him mature.

He said: 'Obviously, I did enjoy my football – it was just that I was missing out with friends. But they are the sacrifices that sometimes you have to make as a footballer, to make it. I know nowadays there’s a lot more.'

JAMES SET FOR ANOTHER STEP IN HIS CAREER

Manchester United winger Daniel James appreciates he is set to take another step in his fledgling career, as he prepares for what would be his European debut with the Reds.

The shrewd summer signing from Swansea City has appeared in the Premier League and Carabao Cup for the Reds but missed the home win over Astana in our first Europa League fixture due to injury.

Although he has played internationally after forcing his way into Ryan Giggs's Wales side, James has yet to taste European club football, and this would be another part of his development as our Player of the Month winner for August and nominee for September continues to make his mark with United.

The 21-year-old is in the squad for Thursday's Group L tie against AZ Alkmaar and is excited by the prospect of being involved.

“If selected, obviously it will be my first game in Europe and one I’m looking forward to,” he told MUTV. “It’s somewhere I've always wanted to play.

“I've had my taste of the Premier League and now playing in Europe is always different. Astana came to us and some people wrote them off before they played but they gave us a good game. I think you can never write these teams off. They wouldn’t be in the competition if they weren’t very good teams. Every game we play in Europe, we have got to be ready for it and prepare right.

“It was important to get off to a good start and it [Alkmaar] is another one where we have to go and win as it just takes the pressure off us really. That comes with people expecting us to go through in the group, so to get two early wins would be great.”

The fact the game will be played on artificial turf at the Cars Jeans Stadium, home of ADO Den Haag, due to issues with AZ's arena, holds no fears for the speedy wide man.

“All the boys played on them [artificial pitches] growing up,” he said. “It's going to be a different test , obviously, as playing abroad is always hard. It's different to play in the Premier League but it's one we're looking forward to and are going to be ready for.

“I think the surfaces [synthetic and grass] are similar really. It's a bit harder than normal grass but the ball moves the same on it.

“It's something the boys know they can't do anything about and it's not something we're going to let get into our heads.”

James is convinced United are prepared for the start of a seven-game spell that features six on the road, as he feels the huddle in the aftermath of Scott McTominay's belting goal against Arsenal showed the morale and togetherness within the camp.

“As you see, when we score, we're all together and, when we concede, we're all together,” he added.

“It's so important. We've got a great group here and the team spirit is a massive part of it.”

Daniel James Sempat Ragu Lanjutkan Karier di Sepakbola
Rifqi Ardita Widianto - detikSport

Bisakah saya berhasil?" ungkap James dikutip BBC.

"Saya lalu memainkan pertandingan pertama saya.

Default Re: Daniel Owen James

JAMES RECALLS SCORING HIS FIRST UNITED GOAL

Daniel James will always remember the first time he stepped out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player.

As he was presented with the ball he struck past Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga in front of the Stretford End, James described his debut goal and how he’s finding life at the Theatre of Dreams.

“I think I've made that run maybe three or four times and not got the ball and the last time I’ve made it, Paul [Pogba]’s played me through,” the Wales international told the Premier League.

“I hesitated a bit, I didn’t take the shot, I thought [Emerson Palmieri] was going to block it. I’ve had a shot and it’s had a nice deflection and it’s gone bottom corner. I think it was pure emotion and all the team felt that emotion with me.

“When you come to a new club, you want to contribute to the team by goals and assists and to get that goal really has helped me.”

After replacing Andreas Pereira in that opening-day win, the former Swansea City man has started every Premier League match since, adding further strikes against Crystal Palace and Southampton.

James revealed he’s already learned plenty from manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since signing in June and is looking forward to continuing his progress.

“I’m loving it,” James added. “Every training session, he’s trying to make me better. As you say, on the pitch he’s always telling me to go at players. He’s never negative, he’s always positive with everything.

“I think I wasn’t coming here to just be a squad player, but for the gaffer to believe in me and play me from the start – obviously in the Chelsea game I come on first game, but I’ve played every one since then, and that’s something that I want to continue to do.”

James first appeared for Wales in November 2018 and has since won a further seven caps, scoring twice, against Slovakia and Belarus.

His national team coach, Ryan Giggs, is, of course, one of United’s greatest-ever players and the youngster revealed our record appearance holder had given him a word or two of encouragement over the summer.

“[Ryan Giggs] gave me my debut for Wales and I’m so grateful for that. He believed in me.

“I think when I come here, he obviously maybe spoke to the manager, but when I signed here he sent me a text saying ‘just be yourself’, and that’s what I’ll be.

“I haven’t been here long, but I’ve made some great friends already. I think that’s so important coming to a new club.

“Obviously scoring [against] Palace and Southampton as well always helps you, but that’s what you’re here for: to contribute to the team. If I’m doing that, I’m doing my job.”

Default Re: Daniel Owen James

'It was weird': Daniel James admits he was STARSTRUCK when he first moved to Manchester United and after playing under Wales boss Ryan Giggs

* Daniel James has hugely impressed since joining Manchester United in June
* The 21-year-old has scored three goals and provided three assists this campaign
* James admits he was in awe of his team-mates and Wales boss Ryan Giggs

Despite his tender years and lack of experience at the top level, Daniel James has made a hugely impressive start to life at Manchester United.

The 21-year-old joined United from Swansea in the Championship this summer in a £15million deal and has fast become one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's go-to men this season.

Plenty of eyes were on the Welsh international following his move from South Wales, having made just 39 senior appearances for the Swans before his transfer.

Daniel James has said he was in awe of his team-mates when he first joined Manchester United. The 21-year-old has scored three goals and laid on three assists for his team-mates this season

And James has admitted he was in awe of his new team-mates when he arrived at Old Trafford, as well as his Wales boss Ryan Giggs when he linked up with his national team for the first time.

'At the start you are a bit starstruck,' he said. 'It was the same when I went into United.

'It was weird being in the changing room at the start because you talk about these players all the time and then you are there.

'Being a footballer you treat everyone the same. It's the same when people ask you for autographs or pictures and you think you are just a normal person. You can't be too starstruck.'

James' performances have meant he is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's go-to man at his new club. James said he was also starstruck when he first met Wales boss and United legend Ryan Giggs

James, speaking to #TalkingTekkers with JD Football, has also set his goal target for the season with club and country.

The Welshman has scored three goals and provided three assists for his team-mates in his first 13 appearances for the club, and is aiming for double figures come the end of the campaign.

'The plan for the season for me was to play as many games as possible,' he said.

'I came to United maybe thinking I could be a fringe player. I wanted to try and get in the team as quick as I could but I thought it may take a bit more time.

'I got chucked in a lot earlier than I thought. But I was ready for it. I worked hard during the summer. It was about proving people wrong and showing what I can do.

'But now I have started to play I have to change that. Coming in, I set my goal to get ten goals. I scored three in four and people said to me, "Are you going to change those goals now?"

'But I said, 'I haven't reached that yet so I'm not going to change those goals.'

James will hope he can help his side to a third win on the bounce as United travel to Bournemouth to take on Eddie Howe's side in Saturday's lunchtime Premier League kick off.
